Oprah 'unleashed' after history Obama victory

Mum before the election on her TV show about who she was backing for president, Oprah Winfrey was "unleashed" Wednesday after Barack Obama's monumental win as the first black American president.

"Today the election is over and I'm unleashed!" Winfrey rejoiced on her post-election show.

Decked out in a "Hope won" T-shirt and carrying an American flag in one hand and a copy of the Chicago Sun-Times in the other, Winfrey was all smiles about the Obama win.

Winfrey openly backed Obama for president during his historic run as a private citizen, but shied away from presidential politics on her show during the campaign season.

"If it had turned out differently, we'd be doing the show today from Northwestern Hospital with a drip," Winfrey laughed.

Winfrey showcased a team of political pundits on Wednesday's show -- including CNN commentator David Gergen, Rep. John Lewis, Gloria Steinem, Henry Louis Gates Jr. and columnist Peggy Noonan -- many of which she relied on for political insight during the campaign.

Dear Oprah,

Speaking of H.O.P.E., take a look at this...

On Saturday, January 17, 2009, J Star Productions, in association with CODE Blue: Reviving a Generation, will be hosting the H.O.P.E. (Honoring Our President Elect) Inaugural Youth Ball. The event will be held at the Trinity Center on the beautiful campus of Trinity University just minutes from Capital Hill in Washington, DC. We will be celebrating the swearing in of President-Elect Barack Obama as this nation’s 44th president. Net proceeds of the event will be donated to assist the National Network for Youth, Washington, D.C., in their mission to end the plight of homelessness among our nation’s youth.

This very well may be the first ever family-friendly inaugural ball designed to allow young people to also share in the festivities of an incoming president. The event will inspire youth to follow our new President’s example of courage and persistence. From his mother’s 4:30 a.m. study sessions in grade school, to his numerous examples of service and sacrifice, President-elect Obama is an inspiration to young and old alike. This will prove to be a life changing moment in the lives of many youth to strive for excellence in achievement. The event will combine the elegance of a formal affair with the fun of souvenir photographs, special guest appearances, and much more.

For more information about the event please contact Mrs. Michelle Craft at (301) 925-8255 or www.hopeinauguralball.com. We look forward to hearing from you on behalf of our next generation.

***About Code Blue: reviving a generation

Jermaine Crawford is only 16 but he has had experiences that have taken him on some unusual adventures. Jermaine is best known for his starring role on the critically acclaimed HBO series, “The Wire,” a weekly drama considered as one of the best shows on TV. In it, Jermaine brilliantly played Duquan “Dukie” Weems a lovable yet homeless teen. Jermaine’s portrayal brought to light the complex troubles of a homeless teenager struggling to survive without losing his innocence on the callous streets of Baltimore.

Jermaine created CODE BLUE: reviving a generation. CODE BLUE is a campaign created to bring awareness of and to fight against those issues that threaten youth. The color blue stands for the collective theme of youth, empowerment, spirituality, loyalty and change. Jermaine feels this is what our youth need. CODE BLUE will be a united voice to bring about change to empower and inspire our youth spiritually, physically, and emotionally. CODE BLUE can save the next generation…the next generation of politicians, professionals and community activists. The upcoming project “CODE BLUE” is presenting is The H.O.P.E (Honoring Our President-Elect) Inaugural Youth Ball.

***About National Network for Youth

The National Network for Youth is committed to ensuring that opportunities for growth and development be available to youth everywhere. The youth we work with face greater odds due to abuse and neglect, homelessness, lack of resources, community prejudice, differing abilities and other life challenges. For that reason, we are working to create a community of agencies, people and resources to champion the needs of the youth of today and the leaders of tomorrow.

Are you going to run for president in the future? You are living proof that any goal is possible!!!
