It looks like Tim Grunhard, a former ND star, may turn down Charlie Weis' offer to be a grad assistant. Grunhard reportedly is visiting Notre Dame today just out of respect to Weis.
This is from Tuesday's Kansas City Star: Monday was a busy day for Bishop Miege football coach and former Chief Tim Grunhard.
Grunhard estimates he received six or seven calls from friends and various media outlets after multiple Internet sources reported that he and Bryant Young, another former NFL player, had agreed to join Notre Dame football coach Charlie Weis' staff as graduate assistants.

However, while Grunhard told The Star he had been offered the job and was visiting Notre Dame on Wednesday, he added that he is leaning heavily toward remaining at Bishop Miege and is making the trip out of respect for Weis.
"It's a great opportunity to go to Notre Dame and coach, but as of right now, with four kids in school, it's really just too much to pack up and move," said Grunhard, a starting offensive lineman on the Irish's 1988 national championship team.
Grunhard, who has coached three seasons at Miege, also expressed some concern about leaving the program he's helped return to respectability. In 2007, he led the Stags to a playoff berth and their first winning season in years. Last year, the team finished 5-5 and earned another playoff berth.
"As of right now, we should have a pretty (darn) good team next year," Grunhard said. "Unless it's an unbelievable deal, I'm going to stay at Miege."

Did you ever think that the reason there are few if any comments on this blog is that Notre Dame is not in Chicago and that far more interesting teams would be better blog choices?
