Kain Colter led Northwestern to a game-opening touchdown against South Dakota on Saturday at Ryan Field before leaving the game with a wrist injury.
He later returned and led the Wildcats on a six-play, 57-yard drive that ended with Venric Mark's 6-yard run.
Colter scrambled to his right on the Wildcats' second possession when cornerback Chris Frierson lowered his right shoulder and delivered a huge hit on Colter after a 10-yard gain. Colter was replaced by backup Trevor Siemian, who threw a 42-yard pass to Christian Jones to set up Northwestern's second score.
Colter scrambled for 24 yards after returning from the injury.
