If Northwestern qualifies for the NCAA Tournament for the first time this season it will be without JerShon Cobb, who has been suspended for the 2012-13 men's basketball season due to violations of team policy, the university announced.
The junior guard remains enrolled in school and continues to be a part of the Wildcats' basketball program. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
"There are standards that each student-athlete is expected to uphold," Northwestern coach Bill Carmody said. "JerShon has our complete support as he works to fulfill those expectations and we look forward to having him rejoin the program in a full capacity in the future."
Cobb averaged 7 points per game in 21 games last season.
