Northwestern
team officials have announced that quarterback Dan Persa is cleared to play,
but only for use in an emergency Saturday when the Wildcats play at Army.
Persa
had to sit out the Wildcats' first two games against Boston College and Eastern
Illinois, still recovering from surgery last November to repair a ruptured
Achilles tendon in his right foot. In all, Persa has missed five consecutive
games.
Persa should benefit from the bye the Wildcats will have next week, as he can get extra rest before NU opens the Big Ten season at Illinois on Oct. 1.
