Mayor Rahm Emanuel is back from a ski vacation in Utah and he's likely to face some tough, fiery questions at a press conference early this afternoon. Emanuel was on vacation when the news broke earlier this week that the Chicago Public School system has recommended closing 54 school programs, affecting 30,000 students, mostly in poor neighborhoods on the city's South and West Sides. The press conference will be held at a U.S. Bank in Pullman, next to a new Wal-Mart which indicates the subject will initially be on job creation but the Mayor's Office has indicated the mayor will take questions and the CPS closures will be the dominant issue. Emanuel was on vacation because it was Spring Break for his children who attend the University of Chicago Lab Schools (which are private and thus not affected by the CPS closures).
