Hi, I'm Mark. I'm a South Sider. I once was a North Sider. But none of that really matters. This blog isn't about me.
It's about you, and the Chicago experience we share.
Here, I hope we can start a running dialogue on our quality of life in Chicago's wonderfully diverse neighborhods. To keep this blog vibrant I'll need your help.
It's the neighborly thing to do.
So pitch in by sending along details of what’s going on in your hood — whether its a heartwarming story, controversial issue or downright strange occurrence. And send me your pictures of Chicago life at street level. I'll find a place for them too.
If you're a Chicago blogger, pass along your city-centric entries. I'll give the best of them a plug. Sometimes, we'll even make room for your blog bits in the Sun-Times.
And coming soon, we'll be devoting more space in the paper to covering neighborhood life. I'll be your tour guide. And my aim will be to take you to places you otherwise might never go, and introduce you to people you might otherwise never meet — the best (and worst) of us. The idea is to capture what we're up against and how we live in our respective neighborhoods. And there's a lot of them.
So send those ideas. Nominate a friend or co-worker — or even your grandma — to appear in our Acts of Kindness feature — which will highlight folks who go out of their way to help others.
Or if you know someone with a story you think everyone should know, drop me a line.
Together we’ll chronicle this Chicago life — from Rogers Park to Hegewisch, Austin to the Loop and everywhere in between.
What I’m saying is, consider this blog Our Space. And make yourself at home.
