As we've previously reported was likely, Paul McCartney just now confirmed extra dates for his new On the Run Tour -- including July 31 at Wrigley Field.
Tickets for the Wrigley show go up for sale at 10 a.m. next Monday, June 20, via Tickets.com or by calling (800) THE-CUBS.
Tickets will be priced in several tiers: $255, $170, $104.50, $74.50, $54.50 and $34.50.
Two other McCartney ballpark shows in the region also were announced Monday: July 24 at Comerica Park in Detroit and Aug. 4 at the Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.
The city council was asked last week to block off two potential dates for the concert, July 31 and Aug. 1. (If the now-scheduled July 31 show sells out in a breath, the option of adding a second show Aug. 1 is at least plausible.)
The new tour -- practically a continuation of his previous Up and Coming Tour, which just wound through South America and concluded last Friday in Las Vegas -- kicks off with two shows July 15-16 at Yankee Stadium in New York.
McCartney was last in Chicago playing two shows, Oct. 18-19, 2005, at the United Center.
The concert would be McCartney's first stop in a Chicago baseball stadium since Aug, 20, 1965, when the Beatles played on a plywood stage set up in front of the center field scoreboard at Comiskey Park.
