Ministry doc 'Fix' to premiere at CIMM fest

Good news and bad news this week for fans of Chicago industrial rock icons Ministry ...

The good news first: The world premiere of "Fix: The Ministry Movie," will occur next month as part of the third annual Chicago International Movies & Music Festival, April 14-17 at various venues. "Fix" is the first time, if you can imagine, someone has filmed the ups and downs of Ministry's career, including some wicked backstage footage.

The "Fix" screening kicks off the fest at 7:30 p.m. April 14 at the Music Box; tickets go on sale tomorrow. Ministry bassist Paul Barker and the film's director, Douglas Freel, will be on hand for the premiere and will participate in a Q&A session after the film.

Other music-related films at the annual fest include the U.S. premiere of "The Ballad of Mott the Hoople," "South by Southeastern Europe: The Music of The Balkans" and "Superstonic Sound: The Rebel Dread," the story of Don Letts, who introduced The Clash to reggae.

Some early-bird passes available now. More info about the fest's films and music can be found here.

The bad news: Neither Ministry nor any of the related acts will be appearing or performing at next month's Wax Trax! Records Retrospectacle: 33 1/3 Year Anniversary, a three-day series of shows April 16-17 at Chicago's Metro that will include Front 242, My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult and many more.

Al Jourgensen and Sascha Konietzko spread the word recently in an online statement, declaring: "We both wish to avoid any misunderstandings, miscommunication and misrepresentations regarding this event. To that effect we formally announce that the bands Ministry, KMFDM and Revolting Cocks will NOT be attending or performing at this event. Al Jourgensen was NEVER asked to participate, and Sascha Konietzko's (and KMFDM's) desire to participate and perform was DECLINED by the event organizers."
