Despite the confusion and troubling news coming out of city hall regarding summer festivals, at least this good news came today: the Downtown Sound: New Music Mondays concert series is still on, with free music this spring and summer in Millennium Park.
The lineup still has several holes in it, but the 10 concerts announced today are ...

with a special guest TBA
(Did anyone read his interview with R. Kelly?!)
May 30
Justin Townes Earle

June 6
Iron and Wine
with Head and the Heart
June 13
Headliner still TBA
with the Campbell Brothers
June 20
Kings Go Forth
with Ben L'Oncle Soul
June 27
Low
with supporting act TBA
July 11

July 18

All shows start at 6:30 p.m. at the Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park downtown.
The series is presented by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, in partnership with the Chicago Office of Tourism and Culture -- and still curated by Mike Orlove, after the rearrangement now called the Director of Music Programming at Chicago Office of Tourism and Culture after the recent city shuffle, with Jack McLarnan.

What a horribly boring lineup. It's exactly what the next generation of The Mix listeners are fans of today. Sad.
