WHUT?!! No 'Play With the Changes' by 4Hero (?) A shoo in for RB/Pop Album of the Year, well...if it were nominated...go check it out, Jim...

You got me on that one, HD; I'm going to have to catch up with it. (Hmmm, good thing I have that Amazon gift certificate.) You are also officially the first commenter on this blog -- it's been sort of hard to find before now, and it's still not linked all over the Sun-Times site, but congrats for making it here!

Jim ... you sly devil, you. Damon and Naomi, followed by Dean and Britta. Does this juxtaposition foreshadow a Galaxie 500 reunion?

To parahrase Vladimir Nabokov, "Coincidence is a pimp and a cardsharper in ordinary fiction, but a marvelous artist in year-end lists."

Yes, Mark, a bit of wishful thinking there. I do love both albums; just couldn't help giving them a place side by side.

Why wouldn't the subdudes Street Symphony CD be included in your top 5o? It is a great sounding and tinely disc.

Where is the Dropkick Murphys' 'The Meanest of Times'. No question the boys from Boston had one of the year's top 25 albums. Incredible album with a lot to say. And they remind everyone of what a REAL punk band sounds like. The tatoo-ridden, pop-infested crap-rock of bands like Good Charlotte have not killed punk, Jim. Where were you on that one?

There weren't anywhere near 50 "listenable" rock or blues albums made in 2007. It must have been a lot of work convincing yourself to list 50.

Some notable omissions that makes me wonder if you even heard these: St. Vincent- Marry Me, Of Montreal - Hissing Fauna..., Polyphonic Spree - Fragile Army, even the new release by Julian Cope is better than a few of the corkers on your list. Still, it's been a decent year for new music eh?
