Reputed high-level Chicago mobster Michael "Large Guy" Sarno was released on $1 million bond Tuesday and ordered placed under house arrest.

The rotund Sarno, 51, also dubbed "Fat Ass" by some colleagues, is charged in a wide-ranging racketeering case that includes the bombing of a Berwyn business that was competing with the Outfit with video gambling machines.

Family members put up several pieces of property as collateral.

Very surprised that Mike's bond was that low or really that they didnt lock him up. They the news said 4 pieces of property where put up as
bond who where they and where could you find that info???

STEVE WARMBIR REPLIES: You can find it in the court record, although I can post the information when I get a chance.

Just wondering if Sarno is a big of a name as the local media makes him out to be. That is, it seems like he's running an enterprise of his own, unrelated to the Outfit. You never hear his name in the context of DiFronzo, Marcello, Calabrese, Caruso, et al. The only one you ever hear putting him in the upper echelon is super crime fighter Chuck Goudie...who makes a good point when he said the words "mob" or "Outfit" don't appear anywhere in the language of the indictment.

Anyone know?

STEVE WARMBIR NOTES: For what it's worth, Sarno was referred to as a high-level Outfit member by a federal prosecutor during a court proceeding.

Transcripts of FBI recordings indicate Sarno once reported to Johnny "Apes" Monteleone.

He's also been to prison for being part of an Outfit street crew.

Was kyle knight an outlaw (biker) Is he in witness protection? Who did they rob on the westside 400,000k (It had to be a street gang drug house) If the money went to florida, then some inside info on the target might have come from the outlaws. Let us know if you hear anything on this. This case is very interesting.

Hey Steve that be great if you can post that and let me know the web site as well . THANK YOU....!! Also you think Mike got bond since the other two have been turned down to get them to start talking?

STEVE WARMBIR RESPONDS: The website for the U.S. federal court in Chicago is www.ilnd.uscourts.gov.
