Sentenced to life, but at least he's not Frank Calabrese Sr.

| | Comments (7) | TrackBacks (0)

The federal judge sentencing Joseph "Joey the Clown" Lombardo this week had nothing good to say about the aging mobster, but he did make one positive comparison.

Lombardo did horrible deeds but at least he wasn't mob hitman Frank Calabrese Sr., who killed 13 people for the mob.

Zagel, usually quite reserved, called Calabrese Sr. a "toxic creature."

Still, both men got life in prison.

If you ask me, I think the sentence was horseshit. There was no proof that the Clown had anything to do with the Seifert murder. No proof whatsoever. No DNA, no Eyewitneses, nothing.

What is becoming of the legal system?

At best, he should of got maybe 20-30 hours of community service for lambing it...

STEVE WARMBIR NOTES: Just as a point of interest, the federal judge in the case noted that Lombardo would have faced a significant sentence for fleeing, given his past criminal history, even if the judge didn't include the murder.

I for one have to agree with Salvatore,What kind of World are we living in when, you can receive a Life sentence in Prison, on the word of an admitted Hitman.Joey was right when he said the Government can indict a Hamburger. This just shows how Corrupt the Government really is.

I'm going to have to agree with the above posts.

There was proof. You should have followed the trial.

Here is my problem with this thing. How come the guy in Elmwood Park that hid this clown never got arrested? Right down the street from the Elmwood Park Police Department and we never hear a thing about him? Make his name public and let him suffer like John Q. Public would.

STEVE WARMBIR RESPONDS: The man didn't get a great deal of attention at trial, but his name is Dominic Calarco, and he did testify. The feds, of course, often don't say why they do or do not charge someone, but in Calarco's case I think the reason was twofold: he is an old man, and he would up testifying for the prosecution.

There's still a few mob murders to be solved, among them Chuckie English,a Giancana protege and Chicago Hts member Sam Guzzino.

This is for the guy named Mark,The only Proof that The Feds have
linking Lombardo to the murder of Danny Seifert was a finger print
left on The application for a rented car.If you think that the feds
can`t put his finger print on that form, think again.I hope you don`t belive everything the Feds say, because if you do,you my friend
are truely inept.

STEVE WARMBIR NOTES: It's not accurate to say the feds had only fingerprint evidence linking Lombardo to the Seifert slaying.

The feds had several pieces of evidence. You can read in detail about their case
here: http://blogs.suntimes.com/mob/2007/08/prosecution_the_case_for_lomba.html

I leave it to the readers to form their own judgment about the quality of that evidence.
