Ronald Jarrett

Reputed mob killer and burglar Ronald Jarrett was gunned down outside his Bridgeport home in 1999, but the reasons behind it were never known.

Until now, thanks to the Family Secrets trial.

Frank Calabrese Sr. revealed many secrets to his son, Frank Jr., as the father believed he was grooming and schooling his school to take over his mob crew.

Among them was why Calabrese Sr.'s close friend, Jarrett, got gunned down.

Calabrese Sr. told his son that he had learned that Jarrett was dealing cocaine and getting attention from the feds.

Calabrese Sr. believed the FBI and the U.S. Attorney's office were going to bring a racketeering indictment against Jarrett and bring in other top mobsters too.

Calabrese Sr. told Jarrett to shut his operation down and go see John "Johnny Apes" Monteleone.

Jarrett ignored the order, paid no mind when Monteleone whistled him in and paid the price.

What kind of man turns on his father?

Here is my theroy but who Iam I just another former Bridgeport resident. I think Ronnie was dealing drugs using gang members of the Satin Disciples. Not just an average street gang they were a little more organized. The 26th street crew found out and wanted to issue him a warning. You see on the east side of Bridgeport no one deals drugs or gang bangs. Those that do will be lucky to get a warning plain and simple. The mob does not tolerate dealing drugs in their neighborhood! Just look around BRIDGEPORT and you will not see gang writing

they are not gang members they are bitches. all of the Frank Jr. and Frank Sr.

What do Bridgeport residents think of this? Are they intimidated by the mob's presence or are they comfortable with their lifestyle? I know I couldn't tolerate their presence and would probably leave.

Aren't they afraid?

There are probably many residents that are not even aware of the activity of mob and mob associates in Bridgeport. I not only seen some of these men on occasions but never would have placed them with the mob. That is just how it is in Bridgeport. Some have or had businesses and some paid street tax to operate their business in Bridgeport. Like some other neighborhoods in Chicago Bridgeport just happens to be the home of the 26th street crew, and they don't bother the residents unless you are the unlucky person who gambles or somehow crosses paths with mob associates by doing something illegal in their neighborhood! The neighborhood is safe especially the east part, but many now know why!

You wouldn't even know they were there unless someone told you. In all honesty people mind their own business and keep the neihborhood safe. The few gangs in few shady places/streets in the neighborhood know whos toes not to step on. The only problem is you have idiot police officers who would arrest those who lift a finger to keep scum out of the neighborhood. If a hispanic person gets beat up, or a black person, etc etc right away its a "hate crime" - no, its not the fact that they were causing trouble, trying to break into garages, throwing gang signs, harassing people, etc.

Yarney, its not like they run around in 3 piece suits...with guns strapped to thier sides.

Theyre just men who smile at ya as they hold te door open at your favorite coffee joint..and buy your coffee if you smile back, they play with your dog that you leave leashed outside, they arent bad people they just got roped into a lifestyle and couldnt get out ..Theyre not going to gun you down for no reason.

Theyre actually much more personable than most people you would encounter, perhaps its because they have a strong sense of power and nothing to prove.

I bet it gives some residents a sense of comfort knowing drugs wont be dealt , gangs wont tag, etc. ( although i dont think i would want to live right next door just in case they decided to rollover ...creating the need to shut them up ....with a bomb or a drive by shooting ha ha )

Any information on who may have killed Jarret come out at trial?

WARMBIR RESPONDS: Nothing yet, but Ronnie Jarrett's son is supposed to testify Tuesday, so we'll see what he has to say.

The story that the reason Jarrett was killed was because he was dealing drugs just doesnt add up.

I mean these people are so greedy that they dont care how money is being made, and most of these guys would kill their mother over a dollar.

I think that was just the excuse they used so it looks like the person they hired to do the job, who supposedly was african american, did so over drugs.

What puzzles me is since when does the mob hire people like this to carry out a hit like that?

Im not sure but im willing to bet that if whoever killed jarrett was indeed african american, he was NOT a "made" guy.

And isnt the mob a little worried that if this guy ever gets caught he will tell everything he knows (but then again nowadays they might be able to trust guys like this more than some of their "own" associates.)

To tell you the truth.. i was born and raised in Bridgeport.. its not a neighborhood full of gangs and thugs mugging people.. its a place where you can raise ur kids the right way and not have to worry about stray bullets or drive bys.. Living in Bridgeport is almost like living in the 1950s.. everybody minds their own business.. everybody knows the mob is there.. but they mind their business.. we feel safer knowing its the mob then living in a gang riddled neighborhood...

Good old outfit. I was a Chicgo Detective on a stake out in Elmwood Park , Ronnie Jarret. An Elmwood Park patrol Car pulled up and asked who I was and what I was doing. I showed him my star an said I was doing a stakeout. He told me to get the f--- out of Elmwood Park. He then knocked on Ronnie's door and pointed out my car. He knew why I was there Ronnie's relatives were Elmwood Park cops.
