The most interesting people show up at the Family Secrets trial.
Robert Cooley, the lawyer who turned federal informant and took a huge bite out the Outfit's political power in the early 1990s, showed up Monday with a Hollywood producer to check out the scene.
Cooley apparently had no worries about showing his face.
But someone else did.
Cooley had been critical of the prosecution and their theory of how the Outfit operates. But on Monday, he had nothing but praise for the government.
Laywers on both sides in the case met behind closed doors with the judge before the trial.
And soon enough, a U.S. marshal came up to Cooley to ask him to leave, Cooley said.
Cooley got no explanation.
But Cooley had no complaints.
He was clearly there to drum up attention for his book on the case, co-authored with Hillel Levin, "When Corruption was King," which Cooley is currently shopping around for a movie deal.
He wanted attention. And that's what he got.
