It was bad enough that the Rev. Jesse Jackson disgraced himself by dragging Sen. Barack Obama's name into the gutter with the offensive "I want to cut off his nuts" comment, but his use of the dreaded n-word played right into the hands of his critics and makes him look like a hypocrite.

Well, he doesn't just look like a hypocrite. On this issue, Jackson is a hypocrite. The days of leaders telling followers: "Do as I say, not as I do" are long over.
All of this negative publicity reduces Jackson--an icon in the civil rights movement--to a caricature and tarnishes his legacy. But most of all, his bitter comments make him look foolish, and I find that incredibly sad.

What is the difference between Michael Richards and Jesse Jackson? I've wrestled with this question over and over the last week or so, and the only answer I came up with is...one was man enough to rant out loud, while the other one was so shameful that his rant was done in a whisper. Why should we march, picket and hold hands when Richards, Imus and numerous others make their so called "mistakes" and then sweep it under the rug when Jesse Jackson does the exact same thing he leads protest and hold public speeches about? Maybe we can attribute Jackson's "slip-ups" to his age. However, it seems as though he has been creating negative news for a long time (fathering a child out of wedlock and while married; and being caught using racial terms (again) through a open mike when he refered to Jews as "hymies."

Jesse had publicity to gain. All these years in the public eye and he didn't know the camera was still recording? Anyone whos been in the public eye know the camera is always on, somewhere. Common sense, or did he want the comment to go public?
Rev. Jesse Jackson has shown his true colors (pun intended). It appears that once a person commits a snafu, all you have to do is quickly apologize and move on. But what if a person has committed several snafus - how do you move on? If you are Rev. Jackson, you don't move on. You lose credibility. Jesse has lost just about all credibility. In response to Phil Smith, Jr., Jesse has been constructing his glass house for more than 50 years and thrown his share of stones. His whispered outbursts indicate his true colors, colors that a lot of black people wear in their hushed circles. Most of us use the Nword when describing our people, but you don't see MOST of us on TV verbally bludgeoning those who dare speak it in public, which is what Rev. Jackson has done. So for all the flap he is receiving, he deserves every syllable.
I would like to see a black journalist with enough determination investigate the money trail that flows into Operation Push and the other funds controlled by Jessie Jackson. I understand that he receives money from particular funds for particular responsibilities. He has been involved in so many orgaizations that have rolled over into other organizations and came out with a new name. Operation Breadbasket, I believe, was the first organization he was the spokesperson for.
They say "follow the money." I think a lot of people, both black and white, would be interested to see how Jessie and his family have benefited over the years from his salaries as a reverend, a spokesperson, a guest speaker, a panel member, etc.

To me its just a matter of Obama's remarks finding a bullseye in Jesse Jackson Sr. it is that simple. Rev. Jackson obviously has been out-of-the-picture when it comes to his illegitimate child. Barack's commentary struck a nerve and Rev. Jackson "yelped" in response to the nerve being struck.
Barack's comments were appropriate and on point, "we" just don't like it when "one of ours" lets out "our" dirty laundry. Brothas are not stepping up to the plate and being responsible for the children they sire at seemingly an increasing rate. Not only does this seem to be the case financially but emotionally, mentally and spiritually also. This by no means discounts the absolute NEED to impress upon sistas (especially the young ones) how making the decision to have unprotected sex will likely impact them more so than brothas. Both sides are certainly responsible for that fateful decision but one side is clearly impacted more so on a case-by-case basis than the other.
Jesse Jackson is an embarrassment to his family, to people of all colors and religions. He is a crook, he cheats on his wife, his son's dislike him. I am 67 and Jesse Jackson has been around a long time teasing and cheating the human race with his ATTITUDE. He is typical of a Narcissistic Personality who needs constant attention even if it is negative attention. Too bad. He could have done a lot of good instead of hitting on girls friends that his son's have dated, his love child.

The good Rev. and others and this isnt meant to be disrespectful to anyone would like us to act as though the things that Jessie Jacksons has said and done over the years are ok there not, we are intelligent people we know that the so call powers that be have always and would like to keep us fighting and apart, but lies and keeping things in closets pretending that they arent there dosnt make it true,correct and right. If you go to a church and your pastor is leading in the wrong direction do you follow him to hell? You have your own mind God gave you a mine to think for yourself, a mouth to speak, ear to hear, you dont jump off the cliff and kill yourself because some other fools is going to kill himself. Everyone of us have made mistake but when do we stop looking at Jessie and saying that he made a mistake his out of wedlock child was'nt a mistake he got caught up in one of his moments he new what he was doing, so Rev. it's not about keeping good people fighting against each other it's about Jessie being out of order and Good people knowing the difference.
Jackson is a disgrace to humanity. He does far more damage to the black community with his ignorant comments than does Don Imus (I had never heard of him).
Fox News is not quite as slanted to the right as ABC, NBS, CBS, CNN, and MSNBC are toward the extreme left. They have over 4 times the coverage of Obama that they have of McCain, and the only GOP coverage is negative.
I, like many others have never looked at Jackson as a leader. I remember when Obama won in the carolina and Bill Clinton made the comment that Jackson won that election. He had no idea that people didn't vote on Obama because of Jackson. We know what Jackson is and that is an opportunist. We know about the deals he's made in our favor, we know he has always acted on his behalf. But its hard to tell people that when Jackson is always in the spotlight. He is not our leader, he is a pastor of his church and organization and it goes no further than that.
