Ysaac Alvarez is the new afternoon drive host from 3 to 7 p.m. at Clear Channel Radio Chicago's hot Spanish hits station Mega 95.5 FM (formerly WNUA-FM), effective Dec. 6.

A native of Peru, Alvarez most recently was an on-air personality at Superestrella 107.1 FM in Los Angeles. He has worked in the radio and television industry for more than 15 years producing commercials and serving as a morning show personality both in Peru and the United States. "He (Ysaac) is an experienced on-air personality that has a lot to bring to the table," said Mega 95.5 program director Ricardo Otero.

Chi Chi.jpgOmar Romero, program director of Mega 95.5 (WNUA-FM) has tapped Chi Chi to host evening from 7 to midnight. At the age of 16, Chi Chi became the youngest DJ on WPOW-FM (96.5) in Miami. She hosted the "Power Love Hour" weekdays from 10 pm to midnight. After a year in that time slot, Chi Chi was promoted to afternoon host, where she had a top-rated show for five years. She then moved to San Antonio in 2006 to join KPWT-FM (106.7) as afternoon host. Romero said Chi Chic "has a lot to bring to the table" at Mega 95.5. Chi Chi said "if you see me on the streets of Chicago, let's celebrate."

Effective Nov. 11, 2009, Joe Gersh will become general sales manager for three Clear Channel Chicago radio outlets: WLIT-FM (93.9), WKSC-FM (103.5) and Mega 95.5 (formerly WNUA-FM). Most recently, Gersh served as the director of business development at NRS Media in Atlanta, Ga. NRS Media is a Sydney, Australia-based media sales training and consulting company currently working with 174 local TV/cable, radio and newspaper media outlets in the United States. "Joe brings a wealth of experience with an extensive background in media sales management, advertising and marketing," said Matt Scarano, director of sales for Chicago Channel Radio Chicago.

Rick Vaughn.jpgDerrick Brown and Rick Vaughn have been named social media directors at Clear Channel Radio Chicago effective immediately. Brown will oversee social networking for WVAZ-FM (102.7), WLIT-FM (93.9) and WGRB-AM (1390), in addition to his duties as WVAZ's program director. Vaughn will head up social networking for WKSC-FM (103.5), WGCI-FM (107.5) and Mega 95.5, while continuing to serve as program director of WKSC.

As directors of social media, Brown and Vaughn will be responsible for using new media and social networking to extend station brands across online communities, including Facebook, YouTube and Twitter among others. Brown is the former assistant program director and mid-day host at WLIT. Vaughn previously was program director of Clear Channel's WIOQ-FM (102.1) in Philadelphia.

Gonzo and Berenice.JPGClear Channel Radio Chicago's new hot Spanish hits Mega 95.5 (formerly WNUA-FM) has named its two new morning show hosts -- Ricardo Otero and Berenice Guzman. Better known as "El Gonzo," Otero most recently worked at Uniradio for Pulsar FM as afternoon host Mondays through Fridays. He began his radio career in 1998 at More FM (98.9), a Tijuana-based Spanish rock station. Prior to joining Mega 95.5, Guzman participated in Nuestra Belleza Latina 2009, a Latin beauty pageant with a reality TV twist that aired on the Univision TV network. Guzman also has 10 years of TV experience, most recently as a video host for a show in Mexico called "Videorola." Mega 95.5's morning drive show with "El Gonzo" and Guzman airs 6 am to 10 am weekdays.

Matthew Tune has been named local sales manager of Mega 95.5, Clear Channel Radio/Chicago's new hot Spanish adult contemporary hits-formatted radio station. Most recently, Tune was a senior account executive for Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire, working with top companies and handling key accounts. He has also held positions as an account manager at Telemundo's WSNS-Channel 44 in Chicago and KTMD-Channel 47 in Houston.

In addition, Tune is a major in the United States Marine Corps, currently serving as executive officer of Echo Company, 4th Reconnaissance Battalion in Joliet, Il. Tune earned his Bachelor's degree in Spanish and International Relations at Tulane University.

David Miranda.jpgClear Channel Radio/Chicago's Spanish contemporary Mega 95.5, formerly WNUA-FM (95.5), has added evening and midday hosts to its talent lineup. Chicagoan David Miranda will host evenings from 7 p.m. to midnight, and Diane Fong will host middays from 10 a.m to 3 p.m. Miranda began his radio career at the age of 14, at the Boys & Girls Club of Chicago's community radio station WCYC-FM (90.5) He also has worked for Hispanic Broadcasting Corp. as a news-talk show producer, Big City Radio Corp. as morning show hot and producer, and at Univision Radio as an on-air talent and promotions director. Fong, originally from Mazatlan Sinaloa, Mexico, comes to Chicago from Mega 94.9 in Miami, Fla., where she was on-air during morning drive and mid-day on Sundays.

Omar Romero Headshot.jpgClear Channel Radio is going with one of its own to handle the key afternoon drive host job at Mega 95.5, the new contemporary Spanish music-formatted station that debuted on May 22. Beginning June 15, Omar Romero will handle both afternoon drive responsibilities and the program director job for Mega 95.5. The call letters for the new station have not yet been designated.

Romero most recently was afternoon drive host and program director at the Clear Channel's Houston outlet KLOL-FM (101.1), which has a contemporary Latino pop sound. He also previously held various programming and on-air jobs at Clear Channel outlets in Dallas and Albuquerque. Romero was born in El Salvador and moved with his family at an early age to Houston, where he started his career at KLTN-FM (102.9), which has a regional Mexican music format.

Mega 95.5 replaced smooth jazz WNUA-FM (95.5). Clear Channel dumped smooth jazz because it wasn't generating enough ad revenue to continue as a viable format.
