Silvia Rivera named managing director of Vocalo.org

Silvia Rivera headshot.jpgSilvia Rivera has been named managing director of Chicago's Vocalo.org, the interactive online community also encompassing WBEW-FM (89.5). Rivera replaces former Vocalo.org general manager Wendy Turner, who was recently named vice-president, systems, for Chicago Public Radio. Rivera's role is effective immediately. Rivera started her career in 1998 at Radio Arte, a youth-driven Latino public radio station. She rose through the ranks there to ultimately become general manager. Vocalo.org is a Web site and radio station committed to fostering conversation between diverse constituents in the Lake Michigan region. Vocalo.org was started in June, 2007, as an initiative of Chicago Public Radio to make public radio more open to the public at large.
