Bristol Palin's pregnancy none of our business, but Sarah Palin's views are

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Perhaps Bristol Palin planned to have a baby at 17. Perhaps she didn't. Either way, it's none of my business.

But when the news broke that the teenage daughter of Gov. Sarah Palin, the GOP's vice presidential candidate, is five months pregnant, I heard it more as a mother than a reporter.

She is a member of Feminists for Life, a pro-life, pro-contraception group. Sancerae, Bristol Palin's pregnancy does not signify to your daughter that pre-marital sex is acceptable. It shows that this brave 17 year old girl is taking responsibility for her actions and decisions in front of the entire world. Children often make decisions contrary to the teaching they've received from parents, and this has no bearing on whether Palin can "influence foreign leaders."

I totally agree. My first reaction was actually why didnt she practice some form of birth control. Yes, indeed life happens, however it is up to us as parents to instill some kind of common sense and values into our children. If Palin knew her daughter was pregnant prior to this VP selection, why would she jeopardize her daughter's personal life by accepting the job. She was only thinking of herself. Not a good decision what so ever.

Sarah Palin is an amazing woman! I too heard the news as a Mother and as a Grandmother. My daughter too is an unwed mother and I couldn't be more proud of her decision to bring this baby into the world and take responsibility for her actions. We all make bad choices that turn out to be blessings. You see it is not the mistakes we make, but what we learn from them that molds us into the person God wants us to become. I stand behind Sarah Palin and her daughter 150%. To me this just makes Sarah all the more real.

Thanks Cathy

It should be an issue for the whole country. We should encourage our youth to use protection. Unprotected sex at any age is dangerous. Secondly, sex before marriage is not what I want my daughter to think is acceptable, because it's not. Finally, this goes to prove if you can't influence the people in your own household who know you and love you best. What does that say about her ability to influence Foreign Leaders?
