Jabari Parker takes in Duke-Maryland

The recruitment of Simeon's Jabari Parker, the Hoops Report's top-rated prospect in the state of Illinois regardless of class, is still in its infancy. However, the No. 1 ranked sophomore in the state of Illinois is on the Duke campus today for an unofficial visit and will take in the Duke-Maryland game Sunday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Duke, which offered Parker a month ago, will surely be among the final schools in the Parker sweepstakes as coach Mike Krzyzewski and his staff have turned up their interest in the multi-talented 6-7 Simeon standout. Still, the recruiting process is just beginning as Parker and his family set out to find the right fit and relationship over the next two years.

With Illinois being the in-state school, Parker has already built a relationship over the past couple of years with the staff and program. Now he sets out to do the same with other programs, including the likes of Duke, Kansas, Washington, Michigan State and others. As pointed out in a previous Hoops Report blog, there should be fewer twists and turns in the recruitment of Parker with so few people outside the Parker and Simeon family involved.

Did he eat pizza, popcorn or a hot dog at the game?

I hear he went to see TRUE GRIT after the game (LOL).

This coverage is rediculous.

Can the KID even drive yet?

Yo Phil. When the best player in the state visits the defending national champs and No. 1 team in the country, it's a big deal.

When the father says they will not be making their decision for another two full years, any visits now mean very little.
This is just article filler or a reporter trying to be the first one at the story.
Two years from now, when Jabari commits to a school, will people say "I knew it! I knew he would go there when he visited the school two years ago!"????

I have news for you, every visit is important, it may not be important for you or I, but getting a feel for a college campus is very important, and to have a father like Sonny Parker has to be great, he started at a juco, and was an all-american, then to a four year institution, and then to the league, he wants what is best for his son, and taking visits, is a great thing to do!
This isn't a filler story, you have a Chicago phenom being recruited by a University, that just lost their first game, and he has a former professional player as his father, this is like coca-cola, this is the real thing, these stories need to be told!
