Yes, the games do have to be played in Class 3A despite the fact everyone from around the state fully expects Marshall and Simeon to advance to Peoria with relative ease. The Hoops Report takes a look at a few of the Class 3A sectionals on tap for this week.

Antioch Sectional
North Chicago has won 20 games for the first time in over 25 years and just it's second regional title in that time. But coach Gerald Coleman's club, which is led by the perimeter trio of Keith Ford, DeShawn Chambliss and Kentrall Wilson, has its eyes set on a sectional title. The high-scoring Warhawks can put points on the board in a hurry and are the favorite and should take care of Senn in the semifinal and Grayslake Central in the title game.
HOOPS REPORT PICK: North Chicago over Grayslake Central

Riverside-Brookfield Sectional
There is no sectional with a bigger favorite than Marshall at R-B. The Big Two of senior Ryan Hare and junior Darius Smith get the headlines, but the tandem of 6-5 junior Eriq Harris and senior Davaris Davis have been huge in recent weeks. The Commandos are playing awfully well, rolled through regional play and should have their way in the sectional semis against Aurora Central. Although many believe Crane will advance to the title game to face Marshall, don't overlook Wheaton St. Francis, which knocked off St. Joe's in the regional final. St. Francis has a couple of capable scorers in Brian McMahon and shooter Dan McCoy.
HOOPS REPORT PICK: Marshall over Crane

Rich South Sectional
T.F. North, the No. 2 seed, hopes to hold off a trio of Cinderella stories in No. 9 Crete Monee, No. 8 Seton Academy and No. 12 Tinley Park. Seton appears to be the biggest threat to T.F. North, having played a solid schedule and boasting a talented, young tandem in sophomore Kenny Stevenson and junior Tony Nixon. The Hoops Report is going to stick with the Cinderella story in this sectional.
HOOPS REPORT PICK: Seton Academy over T.F. North

Englewood Sectional
Like Marshall, Simeon is a heavy favorite to win its sectional. In fact, it would be a shock if Simeon does not win this sectional. The Wolverines have size in 6-9 Stan Simpson and a strong backcourt with the underrated tandem of Lazeric Jones and Kenyon Smith. Simeon should roll past Hope and then get by Leo and guard James Pointer in the final.
HOOPS REPORT PICK: Simeon over Leo

YOU LEFT OUT DAVID LUSTER OF SETON ACADEMY, A WELL
KEPT SECRET, A DEADLY SHOOTER ESPECIALLY FROM THE
THREE POINT LINE. SETON HAS KEN STEVENSON SR. AS
THEIR COACH, A FORMER HALES FRANCISCAN STAND-OUT.
HE IS A MOTIVATOR, GREAT X AND O COACH, HE WILL NOT
BE OUT HUSTLED IN THEIR SECTIONAL-SEMIFINAL CONTEST.
I WONDER WHY SETON ISN'T A CLASS 2A SCHOOL, THEIR
ENROLLMENT ISN'T THAT GREAT, AND THE SCHOOL IS IN
SOUTH HOLLAND.

DON'T COUNT OUT CRANE AGAINST MARSHALL IN THE SECTIONAL
FINAL, ANTHONY LONGSTREET HAS BEEN AROUND THE BLOCK
A FEW TIMES, IF THE KIDS PLAY, IT WILL BE TOUGH TO
BEAT HIM THREE TIMES.
AND LEO WILL UPSET SIMEON,ALOT OF EMOTION IN THIS ONE
NOAH CANNON AND HIS STAFF WILL BE ALL SYSTEMS GO IN
THIS CONTEST, AND MAYBE THE KID SIMPSON MIGHT BE TO
EMOTIONAL, A FORMER LEO PLAYER HIMSELF, THIS ONE HAS
THAT LEO VS. HIRSCH IN "73"FEEL TO IT, ONLY THIS TIME
SIMEON HAS TO PLAY, THEY CAN'T CANCEL THE GAME LIKE
HIRSCH DID IN 1973!

HE'S BACK, ROCKY HILL THE FORMER THORNTON COACH IS
AT THE HELM FOR CRETE-MONEE, LOOKING TO PLAY GIANT
KILLER AGAINST T.F. NORTH, THE NUMBER 2 SEED!
HE HAS THE WARRIORS PLAYING WELL, AND HIS VAST
IHSA EXPERIENCE WILL BE A PLUS IN THE RICH SOUTH
SECTIONAL, DON'T COUNT OUT THE ROCK!

T.F. NORTH REALLY WANTS TO WIN THE SECTIONAL AT
RICH SOUTH, BECAUSE MR. BANKSTON FORMER STAND-OUT
AT SIMEON, WANTS TO BITE THE HAND THAT ONCE FED HIM!
T.F. NORTH HAS A HIGH OCTANE TEAM, BUT FIRST THEY
HAVE TO BEAT TINLEY PARK, A WELL KEPT SECRET!
TINLEY PARK HAS THE BETTER POINT GUARD IN ROOSEVELT
GREEN, THE TITANS RUN GOOD SETS, TIM BANSTON WON'T
GET OUTCOACHED, BUT THE COACH FROM TINLEY HAS HIS
TEAM WELL PREPARED, I WOULD ADVISE EVERYONE WHO CAN'T
GET IN THE BLOOM-LOCKPORT GAME TO COME ON OVER TO
RICH SOUTH AND WATCH A GREAT SECTIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
GAME! THE WINNER PLAYS EITHER LEO OR SIMEON AT CHICAGO
STATE NEXT TUESDAY!

TINLEY PARK REALLY PUT UP A VALIANT EFFORT AGAINST A
VERY ATHLETIC T.F. NORTH TEAM.
TINLEY SHOULD BEEF UP THEIR SCHEDULE AND JUMP BACK ON
THE HORSE, THEY HAVE GREAT FANS, VERY VOCAL,LOYAL,
PROUD, AND ALMOST VICTORIUS TEAM, KEEP YOUR EYE ON
TINLEY PARK, NO LONGER EASY-PICKINGS ON ANOTHER TEAM'S
SCHEDULE.
THE GUARDS RETURN NEXT SEASON, ROOSEVELT GREEN IS THE
REAL MCCOY, AND THE TWO GUARD IS FOR REAL!
I DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU GUYS PLAY AT CHRISTMAS, BUT
YOU NEED TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE VERY COMPETITIVE-
BIG DIPPER TOURNEY AT RICH SOUTH, YOU WOULD FIT IN
VERY WELL!
