Note to lakefront cyclists: Slow down!

So I'm getting my road work in Wednesday night around 7, and it turned into quite an eventful run.

Your favorite love-hate relationships

So Jim Edmonds drew a nice round of applause from the Wrigley bleacher fans when he trotted out to center today, despite being the guy they used to love to hate. He also was applauded - with a smattering of boos - at the plate and responded with a single. Who else has fit that role?

Great weekend

It was a successful weekend for Chicago sports, and I have to admit I hardly watched any of it.

Give us your lists

Neil Hayes, who inherited the Sunday Drive from me, wants you to submit your lists. They may make the paper someday.

Run and fun

Ok, Full Court Pressers, winter officially is over (even though Laurie and I were freezing at Wrigley on Sunday - and in an unbelievable FCP coincidence Julie B. and her husband and kids were freezing about two rows behind us) and the running season has started. I've got a race coming up that even the slowest, non-motivated, out-of-shape runners can finish. And it's six miles!

Congrats to all Shamrock Shufflers

Congratulations to all who finished the Shamrock Shuffle today. Great day for a race, maybe a bit too cool and damp, but it was a great time. And thanks to my friend Laura for getting me to run my fastest race. It just goes to prove we can all push ourselves beyond the limits we set.

Poor Felix Pie

I heard someone ask an interesting question today. With as secretive as teams are about injury lists these days, why did we have to know that Felix Pie's injury is a twisted testicle?

Is Zambrano heavyweight champ?

I was having a discussion with a friend about who the best fighters have been among Chicago athletes. And I'm not counting hockey players, because they always fight. I'm talking guys like Olin Kreutz and Dickie Noles Who's your pick?

Ok, ok, I'm back. What have I missed?

Yes, Kris, I was on vacation. Got back from Jamaica yesterday. Great week with my girlfriend Cathy, and upon returning I just wonder why people live in this climate. Wish I were back in the tropics. Thanks to Michael O'Brien for filling in, but I messed up, I should have told O'B to post his own entries instead of just posting your comments. My bad.

Cubs, Sox, Bulls: Uncertainty reigns

Other than Big Z, who's going to step up on the Cubs' staff? Can Soriano play center? Will Buehrle return to World Series form or last season's routine? Will the Bulls finally get past the first round?

Aaron Rowand back to Sox?

Kenny Williams has something up his sleeve, and it could turn out to be a very popular move for Sox fans http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/whitesox/289932,CST-SPT-sox09.article.

Anyone excited about hosting the Olympics

I have mixed emotions. The most important thing to me is not raising taxes to pay for Olympic venues. I heard cities that have hosted the Games actually have lost money.

Lions fans to make statement

I love Lions fans. They're planning on walking out of Sunday's game against the Bears en masse in the second quarter to protest the mismanagement of the team. To what team should Chicago fans send a message?

What a strange, sad day in sports
