When I first started guest writing this blog many moons ago, the old editor (what was his name again?) warned me against writing about Michael Vick. Apparently, you old timers used to have passionate debates over the subject.
Yesterday, Vick signed a two-year contract with the Eagles. As such, he did not sign a two-year contract with the Bears.
Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Do you trust Caleb Hanie and Brett Basanez? Is this the first time ever when a backup quarterback doesn't matter? Is Jay Cutler the best football player of all-time, or simply just the best quarterback of all-time? Answers below, please.
Speaking of Mr. Cutler, he made some waves yesterday when he said he would like input on which receivers make the team. Are you cool with that or is Cutler overstepping his boundaries?
You're probably sick of all my bad jokes this week already, so I'm going to end it here. Have a good weekend. Stu should be back Monday.

I think we've covered this ground...about 6 times. Whatever it takes to get blog hits...chalk up 1 !!!
I live in Virginia and not that far from Va Tech, so Michael Vick is constantly on the news here. While absolutely NO ONE agrees with what he did and what he allowed, isn't it part of our great country to give someone a second chance? He paid his time, did his time and now wants to move on with his life - since when is THAT a crime? Let the guy do what he does so that we as a society, are not paying for him any longer and he can earn the "right" to pay taxes like the rest of us. PETA and other pet groups need to stop harrassing him and let him be. No one advocates what he did, and he waa wrong, duh, but it's over. Let him prove that he has changed before we convict him again!
Stu looks like a loser and most likely he is
CONGRATULATIONS TO MICHAEL VICK AND MUCH PRIASE TO THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES FOR DOING THE RIGHT THING IN GIVING MICHAEL A SECOND CHANCE.
I AM NOW A NEW FAN OF THE PHILADEPHIA EAGLES. "GO EAGLES"
Let's see how he does from now on...I hope the guys gets on top again
Yes, Jay Cutler, who has never won a single play off game, is ranked in the all time of anything. Give me a break.
After what he pulled in Denver, asking to make more coaching decisions is hardly a surprise. It's about as much of a surprise as the Cubs not winning the World Series again this year.
I think the Eagles messed up big time hiring Michael Vick.
I was a big fan but now I will not give them the time of day...
They are dead to me now.
I don't believe Vick has paid his debt to society. Pete Rose gambled and is banned for life. There is more of an uproar over steroid use than that of someone who approves of & participates in grotesque torture practices to innocent animals? By allowing Vick to be reinstated, the NFL is basically saying that torture & cruelty are acceptable practices. There should be no difference between the torture of a dog or cat & the torture of a human. Why do we think that an animal has less of a right to live than people? I'm not some crazy animal activist, & I understand & believe in survival of the fittest, but as a human race, we've taken this fundamental biological principal-& necessity-& perverted it to our own gain. Human beings are separated not by our "thumbs" alone, but by our compassion, intellect & the ability to understand right from wrong, & we should be judged by that. The lack of compassion Vick & his cohorts demonstrated proves him to be the worst of human kind. These people knowingly tortured living creatures for amusement. We need harsher punishment for these deplorable acts, not to reward them. This only exonerates Vick, & shows society that animal cruelty is ok. I believe in forgiveness, but I do not believe in rewarding this type of behavior with a 5 million dollar contract and the opportunity to be a role model to children.
Atta boy! Proud of ya! Helluva coach that Andy Reid, helluva Coach. Probably get NFC coach of the year with that Pick for Vick!
Hell, I might even get bumper stickers made My Coach made a PICK for VICK!
Back in the Day ole Vick was the best Running Back posing as QB there was.
Kind of give new meaning to the song, Who let the dogs out! Woof, Woof, Woof-Woof.
Apologies to true Eagles fans everywhere....
Fly Eagles fly,
On the road to Michael Vick.
Fight Eagles fight,
Coach Andy don't know dick.
Hit'em low, hit'em high,
And watch our Eagles fly.
Fly Eagles fly,
On the road to misery.
E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!
What this Skyboxx moderator wants to know is how the Andy Reid faithful bed wetters are going to defend the "Great One's" brilliant decision to bring Michael "Must love Dogs" Vick to the team.
I see a sequel to the movie MUST LOVE DOGS.
MUST LOVE DOGS 2
A fifty-something confused NFL Coach looks to the personals for a change of pace and a relationship, with hilarious results!
In theaters Sept 1st! Not yet rated.
This ought to be good. Between the TO channel and the Vick channel, NFL fans will not want for entertainment this year!
Don't get me wrong, Vick did the crime he did the time, and in my opinion he deserves re-instatement. Just never thought I would see the day that Andy Reid, aka the GREAT ONE, would stoop for ratings. The Soap opera that is Andy Reid continues.

I just don't understand why a lot of people do not want to give Mike Vick a second chance. I am an EAGLES fan, and I think that Reid did the right thing. There are tons of people out here that has done far worst things then what Vick did, and they have gotten a second chance. I like animals and I don't agree with what he was involved in, but he did time for that and he seems genuinely sorry!!!!!! People are saying what type of role model is he? First of all, people are human, and people make mistakes. I think that we as people look to athletes, movie stars, entertainers, etc....... as if they are GODS. They are people just like us, and if some of us were under the lime light I don't that we would make good role models as well. Please, focus on more important things like the Economy, Health Care, and the list can go on and on and on............
I think signing "Vick" was a great move on behalf of the Eagles. Most of the negativity that comes from what "Vick" has done has nothing to do with his actions but him as a person. I believe that "Vick" was granted a second chance because of the laws of the lands rule. Along side "Brady", "Ryan" "McNabb" and the "Manning bros. "Vick" is one of the most explosive and exciting QB's to watch.
That just made me a Bears fan. Thank you Chicago for having the sense to not sign a man who slaughters dogs for his own amusement. I used to be an Eagles fan, but now will be the first person in line to picket every single game. Vick is a worthless human, and wasn't really even that good of a QB. I have lost all faith in the NFL for reinstating him.
The Panthers should have went after obtain Mike Vick..., however I am glad that someone has a forgiven heart. We have all made mistakes...watch out...Vick has something to prove now I and beat he will make it happen...Phila not like it but all well.
It makes me sick that any team would sign Michael Vick.
Where do we draw the line with these pro athletes? They do drugs, drive drunk and kill people, have affairs that destroy lives, shoot themselves with guns they're not supposed to have in the first place...the list goes on and on. No one is worth the amount that they get paid. Many of them have no idea how to handle so much money. They spend of lot it for self gratification. Many of them are so full of themseleves it's pathetic. Yet we support this behaviour by going to the games and purchasing things related to the NFL or whatever. I wish the American people would band together to stop this insanity. If no one attended any pro football games for one season that would get their attention. There wouldn't be the money to pay these exorbitant salaries. Sponsors would withdraw their advertisments. (would players sign for less?)
The really sad thing is that there are a lot of pro athletes that are great people and support many good programs. Work with kids and volunteer their time for worthwhile causes, but we don't hear so much about that.
I love pro football as much as the next guy...why does something good have to become so evil?
First, I'd rather have any of our guys over Vick. The bleeding hearts can spout all the platitudes they want about second chances, but Vick doesn't belong on an NFL roster. It is a privelege to earn a living playing sports in front of fans. Does Vick have a right to a job? Sure. But not where the fans who are sickened by his behavior have to pay his salary. Garbage men, street sweepers, and grocery baggers get paychecks too, and no one is forced to watch them on game day.
Regarding Cutler, of course it is OK, and appropriate for Cutler to have input on who the Bears receivers are. No one is better qualified to understand who can - and who cannot - do the job at WR than a Pro Bowl QB. I trust Cutler more than Lovie in evaluating talent at WR, too. Look at last years roster - Booker, Lloyd, Davis. That was the best we could do? And we developed NO ONE, so those guys could stay on the field? Two of them aren't even here anymore. Cutler at least is likely to ask for guys he thinks have a chance to catch some balls, get separation once in a while, and maybe even be a threat to an opposing defense, and not Bear fans sanity.
Roman told you well Ricky. I have been listening to ESPN and THE SCORE since yesterday and people are completing enraged. They are unforgiving (including some of the hosts) and many are will to give Dante Stallworth a pass but not Vick.
How people feel is really not about Michael Vick, but a testament of where we are as Americans. A lot of Americans believes a dog is equal to OR better than a human being. And far too many think an African American is less than a dog. Some think that Michael Vick should have been killed for his actions. They won't admit it, but a lot of this "thinking" is fueling these emotionally charged responses. But these are unenlightened, American responses.
From a Worldly perspective - a dog is an animal. Some cultures eat them. Most love dogs, but keep them in the perspective of enlightenment. This is where the WORLD view surpasses that of Americans. Even in a jungle or the most remote corner of the world a dog is nothing more than a pet or aide for hunting, farming and yes...dinner. But hey, its just the REST OF THE WORLD. What do they know?
What Vick did - he PAID FOR under the LAW. And the NFL allowed the man to return so the Philidelphia Eagles hired him. They put their emotions asside and made a wise business decision. Now that guy they have at QB over there named McNabb is not as good as Cutler by any stretch. Cutler is the best QB in NFL history and its just not possible for him to get hurt with the Bears Offensive line. Our line is so good that we can let Hanie and Bassenez back him up, but mind you - WE ARE JUST SO GOOD - maybe we should cut them too and not have a backup at all.
I respect people's opinions, and would die for their right to express them under this flag. But I am so happy that most people do NOT feel like them. For many enlightened believers God is their creator, Man is made in His image and a dog is simple creature without a soul. King David prayed "LORD you be my judge and not man". And I am so glad that GOD is our final judge. Because human beings on their own are hypocrits. Righteous judgement is supplanted by emotions, unregenerate thinking and evil motives.
I am horrified by this!!

Good for Vick
Bad for Bears
Hopefully this clears the way for Angelo to take PLAXICO!
*(hey that rhymed)
When Cutler came to Chicago what was the concensus coming out of that town about it? If they didn't care what we do we shouldn't care about them. I hope we can move on from conversating about this because what is done is done. You will always get enough people who think that he didn't suffer enough and some who don't really care what he did who think that he did his time and we should move on. There will always be people who hated him for whatever reason who are glad he had a downfall in whatever manner he could. They don't care about dogs or the situation. They are just glad that someone got something they would want taken away. I keep hearing how playing sports is a priviledge but who are the ones going to play the sports? The most talented. No one cares about that but what he will do to help them win. You have people who have called him a thug for whatever actions he committed and really couldn't tell you much about him. They either dislike him because he was young and unlike players in the past who they are more familiar with. I see some people use the word thug and for me it's a substitute for another word. Honestly when people do things I don't like I just refer to them as a Dumb@$$ because it covers everything. Thug to me,sometimes is code for something else. Now before anyone accuse me of inciting a certain type of debate I remind you that just because you have used the word in the context that it was meant to convey it, I'm not talking about you. Only in your heart and mind do you know what you meant. Look back at the Patrick Kane situation or the beer guy situation and almost any previous "bad behavior" blog and see how many times the word thug was used. Now go back on any other topic and see how many times it was used to describe a guy like Vick...If I call no one in particular ignorant who should be the one who respond? The person who was ignorant. This subject can sometimes breed ignorance.
Stu covered the Vick topic a few weeks ago so I'll keep this short... This is a GOOD THING that Vick didn't sign with the Bears and given the Bears' track record on giving a 2nd chance to questionable characters, they were never going to sign him anyway. No, I don't trust either Hanie or Basanez, but if Cutler were to go down with an injury during the regular season, it wouldn't matter who the backup is, feel good cinderella teams typically don't win Super Bowls. Look at all the hoopla over this beer tosser in the last couple of days. I can only imagine what kind of media circus it would have been in this town if Vick was here. Nope, sorry, that was never close to happening. Let's just see how Hanie and Basanez look after 2 preseason games and then go from there if people will be more comfortable with Brian Griese or whoever at backup. And lastly, nothing wrong with Cutler having some input on the receivers. He's the new leader of the offense and if he feels that . Providing input is not the same as having full authority as final decision maker. That's not overstepping boundaries.
Thanks for covering Stu this week, Ricky. See you next time and good luck in your fantasy leagues.
I think Mike Vick should be restricted from football forever. He shouldn't be allowed within 100 yards of Pop Warner or YMCA flag football let alone the NFL. I think the commissioner should wait the six games and then tell him he will never play again. That wouldn't be 1/1000 as cruel as what Vick did to those defenseless animals.
Ask any psychiatrist, Vick's behavior is clinically classified as anti-social. Researchers have found that a history of animal cruelty is psychopathic and common in serial rapists and murderers. Vick should have a battery of tests, years of therapy and then find another line of work. Then the Eagles front office should do the same.
M. Vick scum of the earth any team that picks you up is just as bad as you are SCUM
You're probably sick of all my bad jokes this week already, so I'm going to end it here.
Ricky, when did you tell a joke first of all? You told jokes? Where and what blog entry? :-)
The old editor (what was his name again?). I think the guy you are talking about is Mad Man Namor.
Seriously speaking though, Michael Vick served his time and lost everything in the process. Therefore he should be allowed to redeem himself as crooked politicians, religious leaders or any normal human being have done for previously crimes committed. Yes, Michael Vick harmed defenseless dogs, and has taken responsibility for it. That is all we can ask of him.
There are others who have done more harm to human beings in the process of one group(s) previously superiority complex that was thrust upon them, by ruling classes from various past societies which used this methodology, to keep different ethnic groups at one another throats.
It built up dangerous angst over millenniums, and its psychological affliction took humans beings close to annihilation on several occasions. We don't have nuclear weapons because of loving one another dearly. It is because we have fear and want to dominate those who are different or bring something culturally different. We become nervous as humans and think ones cultural identity, various dialects, skin complexions, religious dogma and so forth, will become lost in the amalgamation of humanity joining together as the Creator intended. - Okay, so you believe in the Big Bang theory - this is exactly what I am talking about.
In that large scheme of rationalization, Michael Vick's return to playing football is minuscule in the big picture called LIFE!
Let the man play football!
I've read all of the posts so far, concluding with ANON's "Let the man play football.!"
Now ... I really don't have a dog in this fight, because I'm too old and jaded to let very many things outrage me anymore. I've also made enough mistakes in my own life to know that when asked to cast the first stone, I should step away from the rock pile.
My input here is more along the lines of speculation, and social experimentation. While I would not call for this action myself, it is every fan's right to refuse to attend Eagles' games regardless of where they are played, and likewise refuse to tune into them on television or radio.
Let all the wailers scream from on high, but on game day I seriously doubt that any of them will be looking for refunds on their season tickets.
With very few exceptions the world is mostly populated by hypocrites, and in spite of any protests the seats will be packed for the Eagles' season home opener.
Bank on it.
For those of you who just can't come to grips with forgiving Michael Vick, feeling that he's paid his debt to society, and so forth, I feel sorry for you. I'd hate to be your son. I'd hate to be your friend. I'd hate to be your neighbor.
Having said that, it's probably prudent that most teams including the Bears, took a pass on him. It has nothing to do however with these teams not forgiving him. It's for the very reasons displayed here on this thread. Too many people would be sending him death threats. There would be an almost constant media circus. It just wouldn't be worth it even though I personally had stated that I wouldn't mind his signing. It's not about just me and my feelings however.
He seems contrite on top of it all. Yes, I know that we can't always be sure of contrition especially in an age when it's become harder and harder to spot as disguised dishonesty has become a greater and greater "art form." (Moreover, a greater number of people seem to swim in the "River Denial" as though it cleanses them.) Still, what else do we have? He's paid his debt. He said he was sorry. He seemed contrite. What more do people need?
Interesting and diverse commentary today. I tend to agree that sensationalism is far too often the motto of the day, but Vick's signing is solid news. Given Andy Reid's family difficulties in the past, the Eagles are probably the best place for Vick. I do not think any club should have signed him because cruelty to dumb animals shows character flaws that are not likely to be redemable. That second channces are something of an American tradition is true enough, but surely there have to be limits set. Even so, I do wish him well. He certainly has been an exciting player to watch throughout his career.
In my widest dreams I didn't think that the Eagles would stoop so low as to sign Vick. It is a known fact that serial killers start by murdering animals then working their way up to children and then finally graduating to adults (usually women). I am no longer a fan of the NFL and have forbidden my children from watching or going to anything that has to do with the NFL. Time will show how wrong they were doing this. God have mercy on their souls.
I hope Vick blows his knees out....He didn't pay near what he shoulda lost and he's only sorry he got caught, and he's puttin his face on to save his career...shoulda got Rico'd and lost everything anyways
what Vick did was premeditated
and Coach Cutler...lmao..I told ya so....he is not a winner...unless you spell it whiner
Just like others I read what is posted and I do believe Michael deserves a second chance. Surely he committed a felony and paid his time. However, as a felon he lost his ability to go back into the NFL which should set the standard for professionalism and role models. I'm sure that many can bring up other athletes who have failed us and received second chances (i.e. Darrel Strawberry, Pete Rose, etc.). They are the ones that are supposed to set the example for our children and I would bet that most if not all of you have had to work very hard to make it where you are today. How many of you are "felons?".
Michael makes millions and had everything, he should have lost everything and even if he did he does not deserve to make millions again. If we never hold a higher standard for our athletes how can we expect it not only from our children but from anyone?
I have no respect for him or the Philidelphia Eagles in any way. I wish him the best but he should have to work his way up again. I'm sure there are many college athletes who have excellent work ethic, good moral standards and are equal, better or comparable to what Michael Vick can do. They will not be given the chance because Mike has filled a slot.
He was wrong, animals paid their lives for it and also let me know if the others that were convicted will get the same deal when they get out as well? Do you really believe the cohorts that he laughed with, taunted, assisted who are serving time or any others will receive the millions upon leaving jail??
Whatever I can do to boycott this team, this person or anything else on this signing I will do.

Is this some kind of vickticious story? How can he possibly help
them to vicktory? Opposing teams will have a vicnic when he is
back there. Can't pass, only run. Ironically, a quarterback without convicktion. A convickt should have a true punishment before he
he gets a second chance. Ricky, you never get me,man. Working on my Vicktorian home this week, kept us from spending more
time together, understanding each other. Maybe Next time. Maybe, next time.
First bad move was by the NFL reinstating, 2nd bad move by the Eagles for signing him and paying that amount of money. He should never be awarded that kind of money. What he needs is this - http://my.arfie.com/video/arfie-cans-vick If not having Vick on my football team means losing all season - I'm ok with that.
I understand everyone needs a second chance. I also look at all the) kids that look up to NFL football players as role models. It's a "Catch 22". The Eagles made a great deal, and have a great back-up quarterback, which I'm sure they will need, if history repeats itself (especially that last couple years!!), but what are we telling the children? It's OK to bank roll a dog fighting business....go to jail for a few months...you can still make a fortune playing football! I am not one of those crazy animal activists, but come on...this is just not right. I have been an Eagles fan for decades, but no more. I cannot support a team that puts the almighty dollar before the people.
This is like coming home from school and finding a bunch of strangers in your house. Who are all these people? Seriously, the same ones who say that they will no longer watch the NFL because they allowed Vick back are the same ones who didn't watch anyway. I know that's true because I haven't watched dancing with the stars since Master P got sent home. Anyday now they are going to cancel that show since my boycott is working. Oh, and when my teams does something other than worry about money it will be the first time. Give it a few year and when he's free again he will have a few more suitors. Owners were like the dudes in the Bruce Lee movie who took turns getting whooped by Bruce. Everyone wanted to jump in but didn't want to get kicked in their cheeks. Time is supposed to heal all wounds. We've got guys bringing God into it and not bringing forgiveness into as well. God is about forgiveness. There is not a church congregation willing to boycott him and go against the word of God. How could they? How can they teach everything about forgiveness and cleansing your soul if you are going to tell people that forgiveness isn't at the heart of those teachings. Yeah, let's boycott. That'll do it. Because if we don't I'm sure someone else is going to follow in Vick's shoes and fight dogs and everything else. And of course if they get caught they will have less than 10 percent of the money they had going in. And yeah the 130 million is all gone but the 5 million is on the way. Fair trade, right kids. Yeah, I bet no one learned from that. No one learned from this man being caged for two years. They couldn't have learned. They will gladly give all that time up because 700 days in federal prison isn't all bad right? You know what's true;I'm sure your kids have learned more about sex from their friends than from you. I'm sure your kids learned how to roll a joint from their friends since you might not have had the time to teach them. Nor would you want to. I'm sure your kids have learned from their friends how to look you in the eyes and lie to your face. Where do you think they learned how to play you like a fiddle? All the negative things kids learn they don't learn it from a role model they learn it from other kids. Michael Vick hasn't taught your kids one thing that they do around their friends. They learn from their friends. They can learn how to pole dance from Miley Cyrus on the kid's choice awards. Come on people let's get real. Football players as role models isn't like Bobby Brady waiting around for Joe Namath to show. Their everday contact is with their parents or for some of us, our sons have mom's new husband or boyfriend as an everday role model. If step daddy Dave is a slacker everyday who do you think Bob Jr is going to emulate? Football, baseball, basketball and hockey are escapism. Kids can watch them for two hours every other day or 3 hours once a week. If you are giving your kids something to live for or someone to look up to then Joe Willie Namaths are obsolete.
KEITH...YOU MAKE MY HEAD SPIN WITH YOUR SWEEPING AND OUTRAGEOUSLY OVERGENERALIZED COMMENTS....
YOUR LAST POST IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE WORST I HAVE EVER HEARD FROM YOU AND I AM SHOCKED THAT NO ONE HAS CALLED YOU OUT YET.
I AM FORCED TO PICK APART YOUR LAST COMMENT ON THIS THREAD LINE BY LINE...YOU MADE ME DO IT PAL. AND BEAR IN MIND THAT I AM IN FAVOR OF HIM BEING RE-INSTATED AND I THINK HE HAS PAID HIS DEBT TO SOCIETY, BUT YOUR COMMENTS ARE SO OUTLANDISHLY FOOLISH...THAT THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE.
(KEITHER SEZ)
....How people feel is really not about Michael Vick, but a testament of where we are as Americans.
*NO ITS NOT. ITS A TESTAMENT OF WHERE WE ARE AS HUMAN BEINGS.
A lot of Americans believes a dog is equal to OR better than a human being.
* MOST PEOPLE DONT. MAYBE THERE ARE A FEW PET FREAKS AND DOG LOVERS WHO DO, BUT THEY ARE CLEARLY IN THE MINORITY
And far too many think an African American is less than a dog.
* NOBODY I HAVE EVER TALKED TO THINKS THIS WAY...I WOULD LIKE YOU TO FIND SOME PROOF TO BACK THIS STATEMENT UP. IF THERE ARE ANY WEIRD F*CKS OUT THERE WHO FEEL THIS WAY, THEY ARE DEMENTED KLU KLUX CLAN RACISTS FROM A BYGONE ERA AND ARE FEW AND FAR BETWEEN, BUT TO SAY "FAR TOO MANY" AMERICANS FEEL THIS WAY IS JUST A FLAT OUT NON-TRUTH.
Some think that Michael Vick should have been killed for his actions.
* AGAIN, I HAVE NEVER HEARD ONE PERSON UDDER THIS COMMENT, MAYBE SOME PEOPLE SAID IT IN JEST OR SAID SOMETHING LIKE HOW WOULD HE LIKE IT, BUT THATS JUST BECAUSE HE WAS A BRUTAL DOG KILLER, NOT BECAUSE HE WAS BLACK.
They won't admit it, but a lot of this "thinking" is fueling these emotionally charged responses. But these are unenlightened, American responses.
* WHAT THINKING? WHAT ARE UNENLIGHTENED AMERICAN RESPONSES? MOST PEOPLE ON THIS BLOG ARE SAYING LET HIM PLAY. IS THIS JUST YOUR WAY OF SAYING THAT MOST PEOPLE ARE RACISTS?
From a Worldly perspective - a dog is an animal.
* I THINK A DOG IS AN ANIMAL TOO...THEY ARE JUST DOMESTICATED AND LOYAL AND OVER THE LAST 10,000 YEARS HAVE DEVELOPED A DEEP AND TRUSTING RELATIONSHIP WITH HUMANS. HUMANS WOULDNT HAVE EVOLVED OR POSSIBLE EVEN SURVIVED THIS LONG IF WE HADNT TEAMED UP WITH DOGS 10'S OF THOUSANDS OF YEARS AGO. EVERY CULTURE IN THE WORLD PUTS DOGS UP ON A HIGHER PEDESTAL THAN OTHER WILD ANIMALS OR BEASTS.
Some cultures eat them.
* NOT MANY. ONLY A FEW REMOTE ASIAN CULTURES, BUT THEY EAT EVERYTHING ANYWAYS INCLUDING TIGER PEN*S.
Most love dogs, but keep them in the perspective of enlightenment.
* THIS LINE JUST DOESNT EVEN MAKE SENSE. STOP TRYING TO USE BIG WORDS IN PLACES THEY DONT BELONG.
This is where the WORLD view surpasses that of Americans.
* SO TO EAT A DOG IS MORE ENLIGHTENING THAN MAKING IT A COMPANION? REALLY? DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT??
Even in a jungle or the most remote corner of the world a dog is nothing more than a pet or aide for hunting, farming and yes...dinner.
* DUDE...IN EVERY CULTURE IN THE WORLD, DOGS GET VAULTED UP TO HIGHER STATUS THAN EVERY OTHER ANIMAL...BECAUSE THEY ARE GAURDS, WORKERS, COMPANIONS, FRIENDS, HEALERS, GUIDE DOGS, BOMB SNIFFERS, CHILDHOOD PALS...ETC.ETC. THIS IS EXACTLY WHY WE REVERE THEM SO MUCH!
But hey, its just the REST OF THE WORLD. What do they know?
* HOW WOULD YOU KNOW WHAT THE REST OF THE WORLD KNOWS, YOU HAVENT EVER TRAVELED FARTHER THAN STONEY ISLAND.
What Vick did - he PAID FOR under the LAW.
*AGREED
And the NFL allowed the man to return so the Philidelphia Eagles hired him.
* AGREED
They put their emotions asside and made a wise business decision.
*AGREED
Now that guy they have at QB over there named McNabb is not as good as Cutler by any stretch. Cutler is the best QB in NFL history and its just not possible for him to get hurt with the Bears Offensive line.
* ARE YOU CHANNELING HITMAN NOW?
Our line is so good that we can let Hanie and Bassenez back him up, but mind you - WE ARE JUST SO GOOD - maybe we should cut them too and not have a backup at all.
* UHHHH....HITMAN...CAN YOU SEND KEITH BACK TO EARTH PLEASE...
I respect people's opinions, and would die for their right to express them under this flag.
* WHICH FLAG...ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT FLAG@WHITEHOUSE.GOV? ;)
But I am so happy that most people do NOT feel like them. For many enlightened believers God is their creator, Man is made in His image and a dog is simple creature without a soul.
* NO WHERE IN THE BIBLE DOES IT TALK ABOUT DOGS NOT HAVING SOULS. AND IN MANY CULTURES THAT ARE CONSIDERED MORE ENLIGHTENED THAN OURS, LIKE BUDDISTS FOR EXAMPLE, FEEL THAT EVERY LIVING CREATURE HAS A SOUL AND SHOULD BE REVERED. I AM A ZEN CATHOLIC...AND THERE WAS A TIME IN MY LIFE WHERE I WOULDNT EVEN KILL A MISQUITO THAT WAS SUCKING MY BLOOD OUT. I THINK IT WAS MORE MY COLLEGE FOG THAN PURE ENLIGHTENMENT...BUT STILL.
King David prayed "LORD you be my judge and not man". And I am so glad that GOD is our final judge.
* DAVID WAS A BRUTAL MURDERER AND DESTROYER OF WHOLE CITIES. HIM, MOSES AND JOSHUA PRACTICALLY WIPED OUT ALL OF THE PEOPLES OF THE CANANITES AND HITTITES IN THEIR QUEST FOR THE HOLY LAND. THEY BASICALLY BROUGHT GENOCIDE TO AN ENTIRE CULTURE SO THEY COULD TAKE BACK THEIR LAND OF MILK AND HONEY. BUT YOU KNEW THAT RIGHT? YOU STUDIED THE BIBLE RIGHT? OR DO YOU JUST MIS-QUOTE IT WHEN IT SERVES YOUR ARGUMENT?
Because human beings on their own are hypocrits. Righteous judgement is supplanted by emotions, unregenerate thinking and evil motives.
* STOP WITH THE BIG WORDS USED IN BAD PLACES. YOU SOUND LIKE MIXLEPLIX.
KEITH....ENOUGH WITH THE AMERICA IS RACIST CRAP. IF ANYONE IS STILL PISSED AT VICK, ITS BECAUSE HE WAS BEHIND ONE OF THE MOST BRUTAL AND SYSTIMATIC OPERATIONS OF KILLING AND FIGHTING DOGS WE HAVE EVER SEEN. IT WAS SICKENING TO HEAR ALL THE DETAILS...FOR ANYONE WITH A HEART. DONT ACT LIKE THIS IS A WHITE OR BLACK THING. THIS IS A HUMAN THING. AND MOST HUMANS DONT ABUSE ANIMALS OF ANY KIND. PERIOD.
GET OVER YOUR OWN SELF RIGHTEOUSNESS AND 1960'S ANTI-WHITE AMERICA MENTALITY. ITS GETTING BORISH AND IM LOSING RESPECT FOR YOU BY THE WORD.
WHY are people so mad??? Did he kill human beings? No! You have poeple in the NFL that have killed actual humans and didnt get this much press. This is just lost, dum people without a life. How can you elevate the life of an animal over human life? Besides he did two years in jail for this. I've seen people that have actually shot and robbed people that have gotten less time. I'm not a big Vick fan and I think that he is an idiot for how he ruined his life over something so foolish but enough is enough. He paid his debt let it go and get a life. Go and protest some deer hunters or the horse races.
I don't imagine we'll be hearing too much from Hitman this week, after Orton tossed three pick's in three series.
Who does Kyle think he is, Rex Grossman?
That was a great post by Keith Lifetime Southsider. Most of these people have alot of racist hangups. A DOG??? In korea its on the menu for about 50 bucks. It goes back to the 1950's when whites made dogs attak black people. They thought dogs were better forms of life than blacks and today some whites still think this way. When black women and children die they dont say a word or even care but when a dog dies here goes the protests.
I have been reading articles on the net about Mike Vick. I must say that I am disappointed in all the fuss over the Eagles signing him. While I am not personally big on animals, I understand that dog fighting is very wrong in some people eyes. So I somewhat understand the furor over Vick's PAST acts. However, everyone talks about the recidivism rates of young African-American males, and here we have a former convict that has found employment in the free market. Aren't we supposed to say that is the American system working at its finest. The prison system is supposed to be for rehabilitation purposes, not condemn you to the gutter for life. With a contract that could reach close to 7 million dollars, and Obama's promise to finally tax the rich, Vick will be a contributor to the system instead of sucking taxpayer dollars in prison or on welfare. With that said, I will be buying a Eagles Vick jersey, to support him and his courageous employer. Thank You Philly for not being hypocritical.
I think all of you who are for this guy have not really seen or know exactly what this guy did.
1. We're talking A LOT of DOGS (54 were seized from his property, but how many more were buried, murdered, suffered, and tortured throughout all those YEARSSSS? 2. This was a SIX-YEARsssssss long dog-killing interstate dog fighting venture known as "Bad Newz Kennels". 3. Vick, thought it "was funny to watch the pit bull dogs injure or kill the other dogs." 3. He electrocuted and hung the dogs by placing a nylon cord over a 2 X 4 that was nailed to two trees located next to the big shed. 4. He also drowned dogs by putting the dogs' heads in a five gallon bucket of water. 5. and dogs being repeatedly slammed against the ground. 6. Vick even admitted taking part in the actual hanging of the dogs." 7. He had a "rape stand," because dogs die so often in fights that owners always need new dogs. This is where the rape stand, comes in. ...breeders of attack dogs place special value on females that are so mean they might bite any male dogs that get too close. 8. Authorities also discovered performance-enhancing drugs on the property, and one news report suggested Vick regularly purchased syringes to inject their dogs with stimulants before a fight. 9. Treadmills, also found on Vick's property, to build a pit bull's strength, a dogfighter might make the animal wear a weighted collar while walking up an incline on the treadmill. 10. Dogs that were too young to fight, were used for breeding or were kept as bait dogs for the fighters to practice on -- were chained to the car axles in the woods.
Absolutely pathetic humans you are to "forgive this loser for these HORRIFIC crimes against innocent animals. Barbaric brained ass holes you all are. Sorry, but this is true. You can't wait to actually sit there and watch this "human???" "play" and make million$$$$$ after what he has done, and with only a slap on the wrist from the court. I am absolutely appalled by you, him, and them.
Watch this video so you can all "get real".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBZdjc4RfQA
Watch this then watch your Eagles game. You are sick if you support Vick.
You should all be heart broken by his acts, defending the dogs, not Vick. What are you thinking? WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIkfYzJaWNw
Culzie in defense of Keith in his opinions he did say that some people not all. Since Vick's name has come up I've read a LOT of posts all over the place and I'm sorry but there have been quite a few people who have said that he should die or die in the manner in which those dogs were killed. There are plenty of people who don't have children who have dogs that they feel are their children. Some love them in the same regard as you love your child. And they feel that their love is equal. I will see people protest whales or other animals in captivity but won't shed a tear at children being killed in the city. They figure it's those people's problem and animals are defenseless and can't protect themselves. How come they don't see that children are defenseless and are victims of society? You don't see things because you don't look for them. Go through articles in the very newspaper on line and then look at some of the remarks that people add. Read them and you will see that some people don't value all human life. When I see a white person, other than Father Phleger, in Chicago protesting side by side with people in the black community upset about children being killed on the south side it will be a new first. Keith lives on the south side. He can watch the news and see that people are more concerned about animals than people that he see everyday. He doesn't see them angry about loss of black life. White people are still store-owners and landlords and contracters for home improvement who aren't scared to come out there and make money. So why are they afraid to show that they care? I can see that as well. I still see the young Roman Catholics coming out but they are selling their religion. He's angry about that. I had to move out of the city because that city doesn't care. The mayor on down don't care. I got tired of paying taxes for inferior public schools and lack of police presense. I had to file police reports over the phone and never saw a cop for anything that happened to me. WTF is that? And I know that you guys wouldn't understand that so I won't bring it up. I don't bring up path returns and digital signals with you guys for the same reason. Culzie, I've always said that you are ignorant to what people are going through. And what people are feeling. "It's what we see with our own two eyes that make us aware of the world we live in". (My own quote). If you don't see it it's because you haven't seen it. Unless this man attacked all white people and said a bunch of negative things and said that that was how all white people were then your attack of his opinion is unwarranted. If someone who is sharing his experience and giving his opinion why not just read it and move on? I'm not religious like Keith. I'm spiritual. But this man loves God and he lives for him and not for your respect. He would rather you believe in God and if you did then you'd have mutual respect. I can care less if a person respect me because that isn't paying my bills, raising my kids or keeping a roof over my head.
Love how Mike23 makes a racist comment about Koreans as he is slamming people for being racist.
Thats classic! one thing is for sure, we will never have an undersupply of Dopes in this world.
and for all the blind idiots who want to take this as a chance to vent their reverse hatred for white america...
this blog post alone is 19-5 in favor of Vick. I have heard almost unanomous concent from all the major sports writers and talking heads that everyone feels he should get a second chance.....and still you use this opportunity to disparage this great country. What a joke.
Get the F off your righteous hi horses and open your crud caked eyes...and actually look at whats going on....
We are in a post racial society...I never saw color and no-one I know sees color...I am 34 years old. Im so sick of fools blaming others for their own inequities.
all your doing is perpetuating the hatred...your not exposing anything...your not bringing up anything fresh or new to the conversation.
enough already....
OJ walked, so did Jacko...we have a Half African American/ Half white president, the best Golfer in the world is Black..the highest paid women is Black..the leader of the Republican Party is Black...
give it a rest already.
Hey Denver...im available if you need a gunslinger!
This signing is bad for Philly - Philly has even more meatball fans than chicago and they've been crapping on McNab forever.
McNab is going to be hearing it again as soon as Vick is ready to go. Vick won't be able to take a step without protesters all over him.
Should be entertaining to watch...
I was an Eagle fan all my life and I can really say NO MORE!! So they say he paid his debt, what if he never got caught, he would still be doing this horrible thing. He doesn't get my sympathy. I wonder if he is going to slam the players to the ground the way he did to these helpless animals. Why should he be given a second chance, did he give these animals a second chance. He knew what he was doing and he knew it was illegal. He said he is sorry for what he did, the only thing he is sorry for it that he got caught.
Obviously you've never been to Korea because it is on the menu. Everyone that I know from the military will tell you how dogs are treated in Korea. I used to work with a guy from the Philippines who said that you know if you eat dog because your ears get hot. He loves it too. Do you know how many restaurants on the south side have been closed because they serve unsuspecting people cats? And making those sweeping indictments and saying that people are using this forum to disparage white america is so far over the top. People don't care how many people are for him, it's the comments from the people who are against him that stands out. I'm pretty sure that all these people who are making these comments will not come back and talk with us about other topics. This was a thread from somewhere else that led thim to this site. I only care about the comments from the "usual suspects" and we already know where they stand. And who is this black leader of the Republican Party? Rush Limbaugh will be upset you calling him black. Those are the types of leaders from the Republican party.
GEEEEZZZZZ, how did this turn into an argument about race? White people. It will only end when white people stop their passive racist
behaviors learned through their parents. Whether you know it or not, racist behaviors are engrained in you.
segregation breeds fear. Fear is the foundation of racism. How many white people live in a white neighborhood/city?
Bculz, O.j. and Michael Jackson walked, because they are/were
"of the white community." Only people who are accepted into, and belong to 'white culture' live freely. how is that different from
the KKK? Blacks are allowed-that's the only difference.....alpha race behaviors
are still just as dominant in the community today as they were
many years ago. White people have just become desensitized to it.
There are still just as many people oppressed today.
WRD...cant you ever once just try to see it from SOMEONE elses perspective other than your own? Is that possible?
I hear what your saying, and I appreciate your feelings on this, but you just took this conversation about Michael Vick deserving another chance...into a tangent about White people not caring about black kids getting killed? Come on dude...do you really think most rational and sane people...white, black, yellow or brown....dont care about kids getting killed? Thats a foolish statement and a case of extreme overgeneralizing and borderline just flat out a lie.
Back to Vick...can you show me an excerpt or a link to a story or an article from someone who is a sports writer who said Vick should Die? I would like to see that. If you could be so kind as to source your accusations, that would be appreciated. If its out there...I would like to go on record as saying that whoever says that is just Nucking Futs!
Look, I have the cutest little Yorkie dog in the world...he even sleeps in our bed...even though we sometimes dont want him too, because he hogs the covers...but....I DO NOT LOVE HIM AS MUCH AS I LOVE MY SON. He is still a dog and he gets treated like one (even though if you ask him...he would thinks he is an equal.
My wifes father is a Vet....and its funny, but he has NO TOLERANCE for people who treat their animals like people. He is white by the way. Anyways...its funny when he comes over and he sees my wife talking to the dog like he is a person....he goes nuts.
Anyways.., you can take me off your list of white wackos...cause I aint one of them. Also, you have no idea what I know or have been through. So, please dont make assumptions.
It would be nice to see you, WRD, just once...try to back me up.
I am not saying Keith doesnt revere god. I am not saying Keith is ignorant..Im just saying that his last post was filled with grossly negligent comments that are sweeping and overgeneralized. I would love to see you put on my hat, and see if you could see it through my eyes...JUST ONCE.
William...because you are one to only believe it, if you see it with your own eyes..
Here is a group called COPWATCH...that is protesting in Chicago the brutality of Cops against Blacks and Minorities...
Hmmmm....I dont know about you...but I see lots and lots of NON-Black Skinned people here...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sX0BgOkyVuk&feature=related
so...i guess you can recant your statements from earlier now ....right?
15,000 years with man's best friend
Tight bond between dogs, masters unleash research surprises

DNA analysis of dogs showed the most genetic diversity in East Asia, meaning canines likely have been domesticated there the longest.

Dog research scant
(CNN) -- About 15,000 years of friendship between man and dog have helped man's best friend to develop unique ways of understanding humans: abilities that still are somewhat mysterious to scientists and dog lovers, several studies released this week found.
Whether it's a beagle, basenji or basset hound, scientists say dogs all over the globe descended from one common ancestor, probably somewhere in East Asia about 15,000 years ago, and they have followed man through his migrations over the Earth.
"Dogs are an important part of our human history, and until now there hasn't been much common knowledge, only a lot of common guessing about their origin," said Peter Savolainen, a geneticist at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden.
Tracing the origins
Three studies in this week's Science magazine provide evidence that early humans had domesticated gray wolves by the time they crossed the Bering Strait to settle the New World, 12,000 to 14,000 years ago. DNA analysis of dogs worldwide showed the most genetic diversity in East Asia, meaning dogs have likely been domesticated there the longest. Another study that compared Old and New World dogs found that canines in North and South America also descended from that same Eurasian mother.
"We know that dogs were useful for lots of things in Stone Age culture, as draft animals, in hunting, for warmth, and for protection," said Jennifer Leonard, a postdoctoral fellow at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History.
And in sharing food, shelter, survival and play, modern dogs have somehow genetically acquired an insight about humans that has earned them the title of man's best friend.
"It looks like dogs really do understand what we are trying to tell them, they are thinking about what we want, and they understand that we are trying to communicate," said Brian Hare of Harvard University, who authored one of the studies.
Picking up on human needs
Not only did the dogs Hare tested pick up on what human researchers were trying to convey, they surprised scientists by doing it much better than other species, even chimpanzees.
Hare's experiment worked in the following manner: A researcher stood near two containers, one of which had food inside. Testing dogs, puppies, wolves and chimpanzees, the researcher would send some cue, either by looking at, tapping on or putting some mark on the food container.
The adult dogs and puppies picked the correct container far more often than either the chimps or the wolves did, and far more often than chance levels. (Controls ruled out the possibility that the animals smelled the food.) By doing so, the dogs defied the expectations of a lot of scientists.
"Wolves have bigger brains than dogs, so it was thought the wolves would do better," Hare said. "And chimpanzees are primates, closer to humans, so it was thought they would do better."
Even the theory that the adult dogs would outperform the puppies because they had spent more time with humans was quashed, when puppies as young as 9 weeks old successfully picked up on subtle cues from human researchers.
"Dogs have a talent for reading social cues in a very sophisticated way," Hare said.
It's in the genes?
These results are not so surprising to zoology professor and dog behavior expert Patricia McConnell.
"Domestic dogs follow humans like a laser and watch the behavior of their humans with a focus that is astounding," said McConnell, a professor at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. "This opens up big and interesting questions about how social intelligence is passed on genetically."
But McConnell said what's not yet understood is which of the cues that humans give are the ones the dog picks out as relevant.
"Perhaps you've taught your dog to sit, and you want to show this off to your friends," McConnell said. "You say, 'Sit,' but he just looks at you."
The rise of designer dogs
The dog, she said, might have learned to sit -- not by your words but by how your head was turned or what your body language was like when he was learning. If those things are different in a roomful of people, the command "sit" may not do the trick.
These visual cues can be critical, said McConnell, who often works with aggressive dogs. A difference of a quarter inch in a human's head movement can be the difference between a calm dog and one that attacks.
But with one common ancestor, why the vast differences in size, shape and skills between shepherds and Shih Tzus, bull mastiffs and border collies?
That's all the work of humans, not genetics. People started creating designer dogs about 500 years ago, said Savolainen, the geneticist at the Royal Institute of Technology.
Upper classes started breeding better hunting and herding dogs and cuter lap dogs. The American Kennel Club now recognizes 150 breeds.
And they're all keeping a watchful eye over their humans.
As it turns out, Mans friendship and interdependence on each other goes back a lot farther than Chicago, Football...and even the Bible.
But your right guys...Those Wacky Egyptians...what were they thinking domesticating and breeding dogs. Doh!
Oh Villano...Cutler did just as well as Kyle ...although... Denver didn't give up the farm ..Hanie looked much better..
Hitman, I too am a big fan of Orton. That being said, you need to get over this obsession of yours, its getting weird. If you hate the Chicago Bears as much as you clearly do, how come you comment on every thread involving them? Or ones that don't involve them at all like this one? Go hang out on your precious Raiders blogs. I live in Oakland and trust me, the Raiders going to be great this year, atleast 4 or 5 wins for sure. You'll never change, Hitman, the grass is always greener, the backup qb's always the next Tom Brady. But I do enjoy reading most of your strange and over-puncuated little rants. But remember that I'm not the only one here that'll remember all your brash proclamations about the 6-10 '09 Bears, the playoff-bound Raiders, and Kyle's trip to Hawaii but I'll be one of the first to call you out on all of this nonsense. And for everyone who's freaking out right now about game 1 of preseason, settle down and atleast wait 'til it counts. brrssss!!!
Stuck...just when I thought it was impossible to make yourself look more ignorant, you out-do yourself...congrats!
Denver shoulda traded for Hanie. LOL
I bet Hitman will give up his Orton for ProBowl stance by Week 2.
"And who is this black leader of the Republican Party?"
Michael Steele is chairman of the RNC - if jessie wanted to cut obama nuts off, this guy wants to slice them up.
Thanks, Tommy I didn't know that. I don't follow things that the Republican party do to be honest with you. I should, but I don't chase after people I don't agree with nor do I worry about them until they give me reason to worry. And Culzie I will back you up when I agree with you ,but not blindly. I just don't see how you can just sit here and act like these guys were throwing the white race under the bus. Just because Mike23 mentioned that dog is on the menu in Korea you say that he was downing Koreans. Not just downing them but making it out that he was racist towards Koreans. For a guy who skims you actually get really bent out of shape when someone touch on something that you disagree with. Maybe you should read it twice, take it all in and then respond. It's like someone can mention the ball is white and you will see white and defend some stance that no one else took. And I think the reason that no one called him out is because they didn't feel that they resembled the person he was talking about. We know that an overwhelming number of people feel that him signing was the right thing to do. It's the 10 or more people who just totally don't agree with it that he is addressing. And there isn't a writer out there that will say that he deserves to die. No one actually reads what the writer is even saying. They see Vick's name and throw their hat in the ring. Do you honestly think that the people who responded here has even been here before? Do you think they jumped in because of what Ricky wrote? They saw Vick's name and somewhere and just had to come and give their regurgitated take on this subject. I bet you can go to other sites and the same people are repeating the same thing that they said here. I read everyone else but I don't even bother putting my two cents in. Go to NFL. com and any story about Vick has 700 entries within 24 hours. Once I saw how there were 230 entries in two hours and one guy tallied about 100 on his own. Guess how many times he said that Vick should die and do everything close to dropping dead? The people who posted here, once, aren't even coming back to debate the subject. They want to get the word out so people can feel the way they feel. Did you know that? And for your information I can only take back that it will be a first that I have seen people come out and protest. I won't apologize that you had to dig up an article to try and refute what I've said about what most people out south see. Did you take my advice and read any subject about a child getting killed on-line in the Times? Do you see what some people think should happen to everyone on the south side or what they call black people sometime? The 100 people who give condolences get outweighed heavily by the 7 or 8 who call "those" people animals. Negativity far outweighs positivity and that is what people remember the most.
Ben, you can find me on Raiders Nation...Tom Cable will get more out of the Raiders than Lovie will with the Bears...Raiders had 456 yards of offense...and slaughtered the Cowboys...how 'bout dem bears?
well, they gave up almost 400 yards ...to the Bills
and Cutler making excuses for his pick?...lol, the prelude to his meltdown when Pittsburgh destroys him and ruins opening day at Soldier field...
0-2 and headed to Seattle...
and Vick won't beat out Feeley...AJ knows the offense
All you Michael Vick "Haters" need to pull back your Poison Pens. How easily you want to assign terms like Criminal, and Thug to someone who is a "Real Product" of this American History and Culture. What Michael Vick learned, he learned on this American Soil, the good and the bad. Who do you think profits and makes billions of dollars every year bank rolling and funding (through music, videos and other venues) the perpetuation of "Thugality." I am at the front of the line when it comes to stating plainly that what Michael Vick did was wrong. But don't forget where Vick got the idea to hang something by its neck from a tree. This is no time for sanctimonious hyprocrisy. Vick is not the Originator of the unseemly idea of dog fighting either, 'cause some folk been doing it for years, under the radar - so turn down the volume on your judgemental rants. There is enough historical wrong to go around. And PETA - back off Michael Vick. Your time would be better spent going after the LEGAL murderers and abusers of animals. They are called in this Country "HUNTERS!" And they kill hundreds of thousands of animals every year. It may be legal in this country to kill some animals, but don't forget, at one time it was legal to keep slaves and kill them - But that don't make it Moral. And PETA, who made you all the Animal "God," saying which animals shall live and which shall die? Michael Vick is just one person, and if he were not a high profile NFL Player that could bring publicity to your cause, this incident would be a non-story. Why don't you go after the Rifle lobby in DC and leave Michael Vick alone!
And I did watch that video and they are protesting police brutality on Madison street near United Center. As much as I appreciate the crowd's intention, police brutality isn't only happening on the south side. Cops are kicking butt all over this city. AGAIN, you failed to see what I was talking about. Police brutality isn't even the top 10 problem "overall" for people on the south side. The police presense isn't even that great on the southside like you think. I had my fair share of cops bothering me for silly things but it's the fact that for tax dollars paid by citizens on the southside you get absolutely nothing in return. I've always had a job and paid taxes even when I lived out south. I've never gotten my money's worth. I know several guys who lived and worked out south have spoken about kids and parents who didn't care what kind of grades their kids brought home and what their kids did but I wasn't one of those parents who didn't care. If a guy said that he was the top student out of 100 my kid was taught to be at least that number 2 or three. I shouldn't have to have my child navigate what these kids have to navigate through. Not everyone can move. I happened to walk away from it all and have a clean slate from that city.
stuck..no offense...but Tommys right.
I was never given anything because I was White broheim. I wasnt given a college ed. I was never given a job. I had to earn a basketball scholarship and was basically looked over by tons of schools I coulda played at because I was white and not black actually. When I played, being white was a bad thing. "Remember the movie white man cant jump?" Well, that was the deal when I was in HS. Anyways...I had to work as a waiter after practice in college. I always caddied and worked for the METRA rail road brush gang to pay for anything.
I humped it harder than 99% of the population. I can gaurentee that.
I still hump it like crazy. I work my quevos off 24 hrs a day. I think this blog is my only non-working thing I do.
Anyways...where was I?
Point is, GMAFB Stuck..your just putting up road blocks in your own life if you really think that way. Because the truth is, your the only one who really has to live in your world. You could change your reality if you really wanted to.
But, sometimes i thinks it easier for people to just blame everyone else for their own failures.
Sad, but true.
Culzie's fury has been unleashed.
If you come back on this subject, please explain ZEN CATHOLIC.
WRD said - And who is this black leader of the Republican Party? Rush Limbaugh will be upset you calling him black. Those are the types of leaders from the Republican party.
thanks tommy - Can we make it required for all posters to actually read newspapers?
MICHAEL VICK IS A SADISTIC, EVIL "HUMAN BEING." HE IS ONLY HUMAN TECHNICALLY. HE IS ACTUALLY AN EXAMPLE OF WORST HUMAN BEHAVIOR POSSIBLE.
THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE. HE COULD BE PURPLE AND HE'D STILL BE EVIL BASED ON HIS ACTIONS. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SECOND CHANCES. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH "BAD CHOICES" AS MICHAEL VICK TRIES TO CLAIM. WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE EVEN THINK OF SUBJECTING ANIMALS TO CRUELTY? EVIL PEOPLE SHOULD NOT BE REWARDED FOR TORTURING AND KILLING ANIMALS.
THIS HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH THE FACT THAT HE HAS THE ABILITY TO MAKE ALOT OF PEOPLE ALOT OF MONEY...BLOOD MONEY.
I ENCOURAGE ANYONE THAT HAS ANY COMPASSION FOR ANIMALS TO BOYCOTT ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING RELATED TO MICHAEL VICK. HE SHOULD BE OSTRACIZED BY DECENT PEOPLE EVERYWHERE.
FOR ALL OF THOSE THAT DISAGREE...I HOPE THAT IF YOU EVER FIND YOURSELF VICTIMIZED OR TORTURED NO ONE COMES TO YOUR DEFENSE...YOU NEED TO GET A TASTE OF IT.
AND BY THE WAY, WHOOPIE GOLDBERG YOUR "CLAIM" THAT VICK'S EVIL ACTIONS ARE CULTURAL IS A "CROCK." QUIT DEFENDING EVIL! WE'RE NOT BUYING IT.
I HOPE MICHAEL VICK GETS WHAT HE DESERVES...UNFORTUNAELY, NOTHING BAD ENOUGH WILL EVER HAPPEN TO HIM TO COMPENSATE FOR HIS UNFORGIVEABLE ACTIONS.
BOYCOTT EVERYTHING ASSOCIATED WITH MICHAEL VICK AND THOSE THAT SUPPORT HIS "COMEBACK!"
It's truly a shame that Vick is allowed to play in the NFL again. If there was true justice, he'd spend the rest of his days cleaning out dog kennels - with his hands.
I don't think that anyone is really surprised to hear people call this a racial thing. Some people just can't get past race, it's that simple.
Hitman, again this is preseason game 1 and you should know better than to make such silly comparisons. I was at the preseason opener at SF in '06 and the Bears looked terrible, Antonio Bryant ate them for lunch and the niners fans were all chanting 'DA BEARS!' after the game. Come regular season the Bears killed them. If preseason is one thing, it's meaningless. Do you really think the Raiders would 'slaughter' the Cowgirls in reg season? I don't think so. And your comment about Cable getting more out of his Raiders than Lovie from his Bears leaves you lots of wiggle room, more than you usually leave yourself. What do you mean by that exactly, do 4 Raiders wins = 10 Bears wins? I can tell you that the Bears have a much better chance of taking the nfc north title than the Raiders have of beating out SD for the AFC west title, you can count on that. How can we guage the Bears offense with Olsen and Forte out at the same time? What if the stars align and the Bears beat Pittsburg? Your probably right on that front(jury's out on 0-2), but what if? You don't strike me as the type to ever admit to being wrong, hitman, but just because you use three periods after each sentence doesn't mean you can tell the future, noone can.
Norcal Ben, you're not the first person to call out the Hitman like this. I've been doing this since last year, but the guy just won't keep his mouth shut ranting on the Bears. Like I said before in many other posts, I've never seen a guy who has constantly barraged this blog site with Bears negativity, yet he reads up on the team religiously, watches the games, pays attention to the box score stats and even comments on Training Camp news of all things. He's either obsessed bragging with all the "lol's" and the "lmao's" and "I told you so" or he just enjoys and craves the attention of playing the bad guy role to Bears fans. I think it's both. It's pathetic really. He'll never admit he's wrong about anything involving sports, especially football. You notice how Hitman CONVENIENTLY leaves out the fact that his All-Pro boy Kyle Orton threw 3 interceptions in basically a quarter and a half of a preseason game? He does stuff like that ALL THE TIME, leaving out facts that work against him from previous posts and magnifies Bears' mistakes. It's a pointless exercise to even try discussing Bears with this guy, but I appreciate that finally, someone else out there besides me call this guy out for the phony (believe me, I'd call him something much more derogatory, but I won't resort to that level) that he is.
If Michael Vick had been the 14th terrorist on 9/11 people would be telling us he went to prison, did his time and now should be allowed to return to football.
But this man killed dogs! That is a crime he can never be forgiven for! You can beat your wife, or kill people, but if you hurt a furry animal your life is over!
Culzie - All the football stuff I posted was of course - sarcasm. The Eagles made a sound football decision. They got someone with REAL NFL experience to back up their starter and they got him cheap. Bears HOPE Hanie can do it. EAGLES KNOW Vick can.
You pointed out David's shortcomings through your human eyes. David is one of the most beloved individuals in most of the world! He was smart enough to take his case to someone who knew EVERYTHING about his life not just the transgressions of his worst days. And the only reason you know anything about DAVID is because he wrote it so that you could learn from HIS MISTAKES. The average unregenerate human being is full of PRIDE and will NOT repent for their wrong doings neither will they be merciful to others. And the WORLD is FULL of such individuals.
ANONYMOUS SPOKE WELL. So Did William.
Culzie - for all their good, ALL DOGS will also - eat their own vomit and fecies. Lick their hinder parts. And when approached with the carcass of a dead animal - they will roll around in it. These "highly sophisticated intelligent" creatures will also run away from you on a whim and run right out into traffic to their deaths. Not SOME ALL. And the specific breed that Vick was fighting and killing will attack and kill humans - especially children. And contrary to unpopular belief - Dogs have no soul.
And you don't even have to leave the southside to learn that. I am here, but my mind has been places where my body hasnt.

Did any of you catch Vick's segment on 60 Minutes?
I don't know what to make of it. There was absolutely nothing new in that interview, and I came away from it with the feeling that everything Michael said was scripted, and that he never strayed far from his pre-rehearsed text.
Just my opinion, but I didn't see or hear a lot of sincerity. He reminded me more of Roger Clemens, and Mark McGuire, with a little bit of OJ on the side.
Tom on August 17, 2009 1:42 AM -
Answer me this:
If you feel like Vick deserves "JUSTICE" for what he did to dogs, what does a person deserve for doing the same and worse with HUMANS?
If you feel that you are PAST racism, then what do you call what is happening with the University of Illinois?
Any poster can answer - because I really don't expect Tom to.
So why do I have to read the whole paper to be able to give my take on sports? Are you coming back later Carl and talking about sports? If I want to talk politics I will catch you at Lynn Sweet's blog. I can not stand sanctimonious people who get mad when you don't follow what they follow. When Michael Steele does something that helps me out in my day to day then I will jump on his jock. I'm a working class man near the city of Chicago and Republicans help us even less than the Democrats.
Keith...thats hilarious. I cant argue with you today. You are on your game.
B
Um, by the way guys, before some of you start commenting about Vick's sincerity or insincerity on 60 Minutes last night, don't forget about Patrick Kane's prepared statement in public also and make the appropriate comments as well. Hey, just trying to keep it "fair" here so that we don't start up with the race card-related comments that some of us so enjoy doing sometimes.
I don't even know why Kane is apologizing...didn't his lawyer say last week he didn't do anything wrong?
That's funny...you're ripping on my when you, because of your ignorance, ridicule someone who tried informing you that the current republican leader is black...
you're right...stick to sports!
Kane was lame; but unlike Vick, he hasn't been convicted of anything .......... yet.
Don't mix the apples in with the oranges Edgar. I'm color blind, and it just confuses me.
It doesn't matter if Kane wasn't convicted... yet, as you say, Villano. The fact is, he apologized in the form of a public statement just like Vick did for SOMETHING. Of course, Kane only hid behind the "can't go into details because of a pending legal process" excuse, but when someone always says that, how many times do you see that person ever follow up with the true story and details later on? Almost never. All I'm asking is to be consistent. If you're gonna call out Vick for "acting" on 60 Minutes and didn't find his answers genuine, then I want to hear people comment on Kane's "apology" on something that he can't conveniently elaborate on.
Edgar - maybe it's just me but I'm willing to take a flier on someone who drank too much and got into it with a cab driver, vs. someone who tortured and killed dogs for years...
Tommy, I didn't ask to compare the 2 incidents. This is about judging Vick's public "apology" in 60 Mins and Kane's "apology" earlier this afternoon at a press conference. If we're going to go by your comment Tommy, then you're almost making it sound like that you're condoning a 2 on 1 beat down on a senior citizen over small change and underage drinking, never mind the fact that a case can be made against the bar that served the liquor illegally. So you're ready to take a flier on Kane all because there's more attention on Vick's case which was, yes I agree, more heinous? I’ve read your posts before Tommy, and I doubt you meant it this way that I just portrayed, but there are plenty of people out there who think otherwise. All I'm basically saying here is don't forget about Kane and completely excuse his actions because presumably the kid with a much bigger bank account is about to get off on this incident with basically a slap on the wrist likely using money to buy the cabbie off with a settlement. I've already heard plenty of callers on the radio earlier this evening who felt that Kane's apology was genuinely sincere even though he basically confessed to doing something wrong. Unbelievable, either they're a bunch of suckers or just completely ignorant. That's wrong and I'm getting awfully sick and tired of the hero worship that people place on athletes and celebrities, always taking their side on things while most hide behind their money, high priced lawyers and a 2 week-prepared written statement in public when they get in trouble with the law. How many times have we heard athletes say the same things ad nauseum when they get into trouble?-- that this is wake up call, they regret the embarrassment they’ve caused their teammates and family and communities … same old stuff, yet there are still people out there ready to excuse him completely because Vick is conveniently in the headlines more at this time. Sorry folks, I don’t get played easily. I don’t see how Kane learns from this if he never gets punished, but he better start playing like the Alexander Ovechkins and Sidney Crosbys like he should be as a former #1 overall draft pick out there to get out of my doghouse.
Edgar - on one hand, I completely agree with you...I had no idea why Kane is up there apologizing when his lawayer came out last week and said he didn't do anything wrong. Sincerity is irrelevant when we have no idea who's telling the truth, and one's lawyer jumped in the fray last week.
My point on taking the flier with Kane is a little one-sided in one sense in that I know A LOT more about Vick's past than I do about Kane's.
That cab driver got the fare of his career! He is at home right now dancing a jig like Bruce Willis in Die Hard. Kane was a sucker and he got licked by an old man and his lawyer. But it was worth EVERY penny to get rid of this story. There is just no easy way to spin being cheap and beating an old man. In my heart of hearts, I just do not belive it happened. But that photo of the old man and his shinner has everyone playing the violin and dressed in sack-cloth and ashes. Kane should also send Michael Vick a check for taking all the heat and allowing him to go under the radar. He can also thank Vick for the tips on giving a press conference. And one small check to the Philadelphia Eagles for their help as well.
Like it or lump it, I don't think Vick deserved what he got either. Just because you love your poodle does not mean he should have been punished that harshly. He didn't kill YOUR precious fido, he raised, trained, fought and killed the most vicious dogs on the planet. Those dogs never knew diamond bracelets, purfume, spa treatment, fancy feast dinners and matching clothes from North Michigan Avenue like your precious poopsie-woopsie. Those were VICIOUS PIT BULLS that go to the pound and are euthanized because noone will purchase them. Michael Vick was a spoiled athlete and sucker who got involved with that foolishness because it seemed like a cool thing to add to his facade of a reputation. He got into it for the excitement of it. It is a blood sport just like Mixed Martial Arts fighting. See what you don't know about the MMA is that around the world (and the US) in some dark arena at 3am in the morning two sad jokers are put in the ring and they fight to the DEATH, just like those dogs did. And the Government did the SAME thing with our SOLDIERS over there fighting for OIL. (personal gain and pleasure) And over in Africa and the Middle East, children have machettis and machine guns - trained to kill and maim. AND AMERICANS give all that a great big collective YAAAAAAWWWWN!!! They don't care about those dogs. They care about THEIR dog and the fact that they HATE Michael Vick PERSONALLY for other reasons. Athletes - especially the BLACK ones, make great reading and sensational story lines for the masses. Nothing like leading of with "TODAY AUTHORITIES WERE AT THE HOME OF (INSERT ATHLETE)".
So Keith - if I understand your post, you're saying people hate Vick for "other reasons". What "other" reasons other than torturing and killing dogs over a number of years?
Tommy - you know good and well what other reasons. But its not hard to imagine. There are all kinds of "other" sordid reasons. But I tell you the truth - he is not the worst dog killer by a long shot! They made him the "FACE" of it, and his is a face folks LOVE hating. The press could discover a guy named Roger Smith who has killed a million dogs in one day - with his bare hands, and NOBODY would care. They wouldn't care because he is NOT famous. And they really wouldn't care if he was broke and even more less if he was white. The Dog Pound kills dogs ever day! These pharmaceutical companies, and the REAL people behind the profession Vick was in. Vick was a gnat! And people know it. If you believe a NFL Quarterback was the mastermind behind all the pitbulls dying in America - something is WRONG WITH YOU. Vick couldn't even manage his own money. People don't give a rat's fanny! Besides Vick - you don't hear NOTHING about dogs. Press sure don't care and neither do all of these fanatics. Acting like they are concerned and ready to take in a pit! PLEAZE! They are NOT concerned one iota and I stand by my assessment - there is another reason they are all in a tizzy.
Who was I ripping on Carl? You? I wasnlt even talking to you. I even admitted to Tommy that I didn't know who Steelle was. I ripped on you because YOU felt the need to admonish me for not knowing the Republican leader. Typical that someone will say something and then not admit to it. You didn't tell me diddly. You were trying to down me. When are you going to talk about sports? Religion and politics
Well sure, of course the Vick story is one-sided especially now that we already have his story topic posted twice here in FCP while I already knew that Kane’s ill prepared apology statement was never going to start up a new blog thread by Stu. Was Kane’s actions more heinous than Vick’s? Of course not, but you know what, he’s about to get away with doing something wrong and that should not be overlooked, but it will be. As a matter of fact, the S-T has already reported today that Kane and his cousin have reached a plea agreement with the Cab driver as we speak. Just as predicted, but here we are already, not a blip of criticism to Kane in the blogs today except from myself and you, Tommy (I conveniently left Keith out of the conversation because he's rambling on again about human vs. animal rights and the color barrier), and really, the only reason why you brought it up is because I took it here in this blog thread. What expert calculations by the Kane handling team to sweep this under the rug while we currently have bigger sports news of the day involving Favre, more Cutler/Hester and Cubs closing problems! Very well done, Patrick Kane, but I’m not one to easily forget. Like I said earlier, all I can say now is that Kane better show marked improvement in his game by next season and step up to that Ovechkin/Crosby level of play. Die hard Chicago fans like myself remember the +/- minus 9 rating stinker and soft play throughout the playoffs this past season. Obviously Kane’s defense on the ice rink is nowhere near as good as his defense in legal proceedings.
Technically Keith...they killed FooFee too!
Part of training fighting dogs, and part of his indictment was that they would kidnap dogs from the neighborhood to use as training toys for the Champion fight dogs to practice ripping to shreds.
Just an FYI...
also, im sure there are some racists d*cks out there who use any chance they can to hate on minorities, but how would you explain someone like me...
who loved Michael Vick when he was a player in College, and early years in the Pro's...then I started losing respect for his game and starting hearing stories about being the last one to practice and the first to leave, and then hearing stories about water bongs and having the largest entourage in the NFL...and so on and so on....and then BOOM...he gets hit with that huge Dog Fighting Raid...which unearths a number of ground shattering facts about his "dog fighting" side business operations.
All of which, I really dissaprove of and keep in mind, he should be working at being a QB...not moonlighting as a Dog Fight Hi Rolla Big Money Gambler Entrepreneur...
he shoulda been studying the play book and studying game film and putting in hours at the gym. The QB position is the most demanding of all, and they are the coach on the Field...and the defacto player team leader.
None of these things...by his own admittance, he was at the time!
Now, I was a super outspoken critic of Vick and I think he got what he deserved, and now he has paid his dues, and his debt to society and now he should be allowed to find gainful employment with whomever he can create the best opportunity for himself and his family.
How do you explain me and my thoughts on this..?
Keith...I have to admit...I have NO idea what the "other" reason causing people to be in a tizzy about vick. honestly...
Culzie there are also a great deal of folks like yourself have rightly judged the man. After he paid his debt you have let it go. That is fair. And like-minded individuals are the hope of the nation. But folks that still have an axe to grind are ON SOMETHING ELSE. Do me a favor and give Tommy a clue.
OK Keith I get it now...we know some white people don't like black people cuz the color of their skin, and vice versa...
Real earth-shattering revelation there...
hey, as long Vick blows out his knees...I'm good.....
It's not like I'd consider him useless... take him out back, electrocute him, beat him in the head with a stick, and then drown him...
I would consider the rape stand, tho...
I mean, this has everything to do with his culture, right?
well, I'm sympathetic that way...and I respect that....I don't care what color his screams are...
OK..thanks KLTSS..but now you have to realize that there are really 4 types of thinking here.
1. Those who feel he paid his debt to society and are ready to move on
2. Those who feel he has'nt paid his debt to society and can't get over what he did.
3. Those who feel that no matter what, his skin color makes him guilty
4. Those who feel that no matter what, people with opposite skin color wont give him a fair shake.
I would say that the latter 2 are way off base!
Who are they off base with Culzie? I've said it a million times that you can not defend anyone's actions or intent because of your own beliefs. You shouldn't even have to defend your take on the situation because in all actuality he was calling out people who did enter for those reasons. It's like telling on yourself. I can't constantly defend anyone's actions unless I agree with them. You keep saying that you're not a Republican but your down Democrats every chance you get. What do I realize from that? That you are a Republican. You can not tell me that every single person who entered on this blog and the dozen or so I've seen on-line other places did not chime in without 3 and 4 being the reasons why. How can you tell anyone's intent without knowing them? I'm not going to take any entry I've read and say that that's the proof. Every entry is up to debate. Don't read too much into what people say because some people aren't wordy like a few of us. They read and add when they see fit. I just didn't dig that people entered a back and forth debate forum and just hit and ran. I would've loved for someone who called me a degenerate for saying that it's in the past and let it go to debate me on it. Whose opinion do you value most? Someone who just hit and run or someone who stand forth and debate you every other day. I remember you called me some names and said that you didn't have respect for me because I abandoned a topic ONCE. I did that because it went too far and in actuality the principles involved have come back from that and debated several topics after that in a respectful manner and have agreed or various topics. We've let go of the situation and have gotten to know each other better.
Culzie there are more than 4 trains of thought. There are MANY. I didn't lable any because its simply too broad. 3 and 4 are the obvious categories that many have pigeon-holed my thinking into, but here are some others:
5. Some are hating on this man because he is simply a male (and they are not).
6. Some because he was young and rich (and they are not).
7. Some because he is a rich athlete (and they are not).
8. Some because he looks like the guy that stole their girl.
9. Some because he caught a break in life - and they didnt.
10. Some because he looks like someone that commited a crime against them.
11. Some because they feel like only "intellectuals" should be rich and famous.
12. Some because their lives are in ruin.
13. Some because of OJ won his case.
14. Some because of Barack is president.
15. Some because they think he had it easy.
16. Some because they have been tongue kissing Fido!
Hatoraide comes in many flavors!!! But I suspect MOST because they are HYPOCRITS who want others to suffer the utter-most pain for their mistakes. But they want MERCY for their mistakes and their family members, and their friends, and their favorite people - like PRESIDENT BUSH.
And for the record - the neighbors who lost a dog to Vick has the right to feel that way, but if he didn't take your fido or fee-fee, you should let it go.
How unfortunate that the Eagles have signed Michael Vick. His abusive animal behavior dictates that he should not be in the NFL.
Hey Carole!
If you'd like a Vick #7 Eagles jersey for your dog, they're on sale at www.NFL.com
I'm not kidding.

Kieth your list reminds me of a lot of College Professors I had, who hated us Athletes...because we got "special treatment" or got to miss class "officially" or because we got the ladies and had the fresh gear.
I hear you on Hatoraide...but just remember that...NONE of these are the Majority..and you have a tendency to paint with a very broad brush...thats all.
Now that we've made it to 100 entries let's get going into some Cub blogs fellas. See you over there.
Stu responds: I was wondering who the 100th poster was going to be .... Congrats, WRD (but sorry, you don't win a free toaster or anything).
Yeah ... too bad WRD. It's the 101st poster that wins the toaster.
I hope it's a four slice model.
Mark, It's funny you mention a 4 slice toaster. I'm indulging myself by watching Dana Carvey's stand up on WOW!On-Demand/HBO and he talks about his mother and their new 4 slice toaster. I never knew that Carvey could be so funny. I'm up to my 4th time in two weeks watching this thing. Anyways, I'm a winner because of my good health. It's good besides the arthrithic knees, neck and back. And the occasional cramps in my feet along with the lingering numbness in my fingers. Besides those little things I'm good.
I guess the winner doesnt get a Vick jersey from Dick's Sporting goods either...

As per Culzie's comment:
It remains to be seen what, if any, fallout there'll be regarding the Eagle's signing of Vick; at least from an economic standpoint.
Money, lost or gained, will be the true measure of discontent among angry fans who refuse to look the other way.
I'm not endorsing a boycott here ... I'm only referencing the fact that people who do not wish to enrich Michael Vick and his employer are under no obligation whatsoever to throw money in their direction.
As I've stated before, I'm a Bear's fan, and I don't have a dog in this fight. It's not as though I have to make a conscious decision one way or the other, because the truth of the matter is that I wouldn't have purchased any Vick or Eagles merchandise under any circumstances, irregardless of whether or not Vick had been in the dog fighting business.
But people who withhold money they might have otherwise spent on this franchise could indeed have an impact, although it's highly doubtful.
Honestly I've never bought one thing from Dick's and even if they had the jersey that wouldn't get me into the store. I stopped buying jerseys around the time I turned 40. Now if it's a throw back- I just might. Still it has the be someone that is worth it. I'm too frugal to spend it on fly-by-night players anymore. I haven't ran into too many people with a John Thierry jersey like I have. Honestly I've never seen anyone else in that jersey. Tell me that wasn't a waste of money?
I rarely buy from Dick's either, not unless they have some kind of blow out, out-of-season clearance sale which still doesn't happen too much in that store. WRD, I remembered seeing plenty of John Thierry jerseys when he was first drafted, but yep, the sales on jersey sure tanked quicker than the Cedric Benson jerseys! How about Alonzo Spellman? Many bought his jersey back then also. Man, what a head case Spellman was!
