Sage Rosenfels and Tarvaris Jackson had good reason to look over their shoulders.
So I had a Brett Favre item all set to post Monday night, based on this report by Jay Glazer of FoxSports, in which he told of the near-unanimous feeling among Vikings players that Favre's arrival in Minnesota was only a matter of time. But when Kevin Gregg melted down again in San Diego, I switched off to a Cubs-in-crisis post, figuring Favre could wait.
Alas, as we have come to learn, nothing is ever certain when it comes to Brett Favre. It has been the story that just wouldn't die. Like a morning spent in the dentist's
chair or an afternoon stuck in a massive traffic jam, it was excruciating and seemingly endless. But now it apparently is going to happen: Favre reportedly will sign with Minnesota, assuming he passes a physical today.
My first reaction upon hearing Glazer's report was to dismiss it. Surely, I figured, the Vikings' courtship of Favre came to an emphatic end when he rejected their invitation to come aboard at the start of training camp. Favre said he didn't feel physically up to the rigors of another NFL season, and you figured the Vikings would concur that rolling the dice on a broken-down 39-year-old made no sense.
But when I read how Glazer laid out the scenario, it started to make sense. Tarvaris Jackson has been injured, and although Sage Rosenfels played well in their preseason opener, the Vikings were far from solid at the game's most important position. After mingling for two days with Vikings personnel at training camp, Glazer noted that Favre already was being accepted by his potential teammates, most of whom figure that the old man simply was delaying his arrival because he has spent too many summers in camp dormitories and would prefer to wait till closer to the regular season. Favre reportedly also was still soliciting input from friends about a possible comeback and continuing to work out on the high school fields of Mississippi.
More often than not, Glazer is on the money with stuff like this, so it was telling when he ended his report by writing, "I'm a betting man and if I had to lay a bet down right now ... I'd be willing to bet my farm" on a Favre return.
We have kicked Favre around plenty in previous posts, but now that it finally seems to be official, let's hear your take again: Good news for the Vikings? Bad news for the Bears? Are you looking forward to seeing what he has left in the tank? Or do you just wish Brett Favre would go away and stay away?
Great news for Bears...that egomaniac will insist on throwing more despite having the best RB in the game. 3rd and 4 - give it to AP?? uhhh - no Brett will take care of it!
The other funny part about this is the point his Jet teammates made last year - the fact that Favre didn't take part in any off-season training or workouts. He's doing the same this year...
awesome!
If nothing else, it'll be great theater.
Could a healthy Farve put the Vikings over the top? With that defense of theirs, and AP in the backfield, you better believe they'll be contenders.
Until the Bears rid themselves of Lovie, they're going to be nothing but pretenders. I have no faith in that man whatsoever.
I think Bret Favre may just be the most overblown QB in the history of the NFL. Good, yes, but great,no. Vikes would have been better off with Vick, at least he knew when a dog wouldn';t hunt! How come they let old Gus go anyway, he was durabel and effective?
Brett is a true living legend and it will be awesome to see him play for another season / team. No one owns him and if he wants to put in on the field I applaud his courage and look forward to watching him every week-end, of course after the packers.
The Favre fiasco continues. One wonders how he ever decides which receiver to throw to. With the Pack he always had Donald Driver, who always seemed open, to make him look good. Actually I'm glad he came ( is coming? ) back. The Bears will have a chance to pound on him some more and help him add to his all-time interceptions allowed record.
happy we got favre. sage did look good n the pre-season opener but favre is still an upgrade at the ago of 40
WOW, while watching Monday night football last night, they flirted around about the possibility, as you did, I just disreguarded it. A few minutes ago my son calls me from working in the southern part of the state to ask if the rumors are true. So the search goes on. We have always been a Favre fan, love him or hate him. I am not a Vikings fan, never have been, never will be. Those fans are brutal when you are in their stadium. However, this would be good for the Ted Thompson fans, (which I am not) lets see just how bad a player he is when he plays against us. Personally even being a Packers die hard fan, in this situation I hope when we play against the Vikings that they beat us, just for TT's sake. Very disgusted with what TT did to Favre.......So Favre fans we are. We will have to add a few years on the hall of fame again!!
I think Favre joining the Vikings will make his division the most interesting one in the NFL. The Packers vs the Vikings will be two must see games. The Lions, trying to breakout with their new #1 draft pick quarterback, vs the Vikings will be very interesting. As well, Cutler trying to be the savior of Chicago vs Favre and the Vikings should be very interesting. Love him or hate him, Favre joining the Vikings will dramatically increase national interest in the Lions/Bears/Packers/Vikings division.
Go away and stay away.
Maybe they can sign Fran Tarkenton to back him up!
Favre returns... no surprise there. Yes, of course good news for the Vikings. T. Jackson and Rosenfels are terrible. Just bring him on already so that this story can finally end soon. Why would any Bears fan look forward to seeing what he has left in the tank? I don't care either way if Brett stays away or not. Let's watch some football instead of reading the drama!
Hey, riverdog, with Fran they would at least have someone mobile enough to avoid the rush. I doubt that Favre will last the season even if he does sign with the Vikings. I wonder how well the Viking line can protect a slow-moving passer. At forty, I suspect Favre may reconsider after being sacked a few more times and waking up almost unable to get out of bed.One benefit to the Vikings with Favre in is that opponents will have problems stacking against the run.
Brett Favre is a great quarterback and the Vikings will probably benefit greatly with him at quarterback. Great news for the Vikings, bad news for the Packers who have been struggling since Brett left the Packers.
Maybe the Packers will finally realize how big of a mistake they made by letting Brett leave. Also, maybe they will get rid of McCarthy and hire a real coach.
So, Old Man River Favre has returned yet again.
I honestly don't know what to think. On the one hand, I think that he will create a huge distraction for the Vikings. ESPN will continue 'Favre-watch' on a 24 hour repeating cycle. Players get tired of that. They will be constantly asked about it. AP, who is used to being 'the man' aka 'Purple Jesus', will have to adjust to the fact he is no longer the sole big fish in the Minnesota pond.
On the other, the Vikings are at the heart a running team. They have two terrific backs and this will mean they won't be relying on Brett as much as the Jets did. I think most importantly for them, they needed a leader at the QB spot. Someone they can have in the huddle when the pressure is on and realize that he's been there before and won't be scared into throwing a pic. He may throw a pic anyways, but the mental boost will be significant.
Can Favre even handle the stress of a full season? Part of the reason Brett looked so awful last year is because he was playing hurt towards the end of the year. You can tell the arm zip wasn't there. I think that is what will ultimately be the undoing of Favre/Minnesota. He won't have arm strength to make it through the playoffs. The Vikings will undoubtedly make the playoffs. They will definitely push the Bears for the North. But in the playoffs, when Brett does his throwing off his back foot thing, the velocity won't be there and the DB's will have enough time to knock/pic those passes.
Anyone who doesn't believe that Farve is an upgrade over Sage, and TJ doesn't watch a lot of football.
Farve provides instant stability at the most critical position. (could someone refresh my memory please: how many games has he failed to start in the last 15 years?)
Their most glaring weakness has just become an asset. Will he make them unbeatable? Of course not. But he does give them a lot more ways to win. Who would you rather have running the two minute offense when you're behind by 3 or 7 points; Jackson or Farve?
Case closed.
Meanwhile our most glaring weaknesses, WR & safety, are still huge holes that need to be filled.
"That's it for me...I can't go through the grind anymore...Nope, it's history for me...lace 'em up...I'm done...It's been a great ride...There's no way I'm coming back...Let's go...I've had it...It's the real deal this time...I'm retired...Don't ask my anymore...I'm back...It's over...Never say never...No, it's over...I'm sure it's over...Let's go Purple People Eaters...I'm your man!"
If I had food in my stomach, I'd be puking all over my computer monitor.
I used to admire Brett Favre even though he regular beat my teams' collective brains in throughout the nineties and early '00's. Now, his mere name strikes a chord of nausea within me. I've got a feelin' that I'm far from the only one...WQay to bid us all adieu Brett FARVE...There, I spelled the way it ought to have been spelled.
I tend to agree with Mark V in this thread...also Ernie makes a great point about the NFC.
If he couldn't make it through a season after sitting out last offseason how is he going to make it playing half his games in a dome on a hard surface? You see Green Bay fans are trying to dump their coach as well. They still love them some Brett so good for them. I don't care how many straight games he has played. He shouldve sat down near the end of the season after he was half of half the player he was 6 years ago. No one wants to down a legend. But he is past tense. Was a legend. Lazy bum skipping out on training camp.
All I can say is that Brett is selfish. Back & forth. Believe me, as a former professional athlete, it's always tough to walk away. However, be fair to the young guys, you're taking a roster spot but more importantly you completely devalued your 2 backups. What message does this send about their ability. Also, you need to participate with your team from day 1, build something together. Not come in late, with the "alleged" chosen one title, especially when it is clear, he is past his prime. Let it go Brett, let it go.

la la la la laaaa...and hee ho hee ho heeeee
Vikings can make their superbowl plans...and me...well...my Wife patted me on the back....no need for Ben and Edgar to
maybe Matt Jones will be a Viking...no need to waste his time in Chicago
I was a die hard Packers fan until Brett got run outta town in '08 by TiTtie. Then I realized I was actually a Favre fan.
Brett: Ignore the microbrains who just don't get it. Try to stay healthy (which of course is what skipping camp was all about). Use your experience. And most of all, have some more fun.
Hey STU, where's my comment..? Good golly, how long does it tke you to "approve" those?
Sorry, Paulie, sometimes the system works fast; other times, not so much.
I noticed Favre wearing the number "2" jersey. I'm wondering if he's admitting that he's half of what he once was.
I say great!
Beating the Vikings and Favre at the same time sounds fun to me.
After Favre does not take them to the Super Bowl (and he won't) they will be right back in the same situation next year only this time they will have the smell of their long time enemy's rear end on their lips.
They have swallowed their pride and they can never wash that taint off and I am happy to see it happen.
At the same time Green Bay fans are in tears as they see their hero playing for a division rival for no other reason than to stick it to the Packers and that is about as fun as it gets in the NFL.
I welcome this and I want to see Favre winching as he slowly gets up off the frozen Soldier Field turf on Monday Night Football.
One down and one to go. Yessirree Bob, you can put the Vikes in the bank; the bankrupt version! What a bunch of knuckleheads. You guys out there who think Favre is going to lead this team anywhere, know as much about QBing, as you do about crocheting. This man killed the Jets last year and I'll bet the Wisconsin farm he doesn't finish the year as the starter; MARK IT!!!
Now all we need is for Green Bay to let Rodgers throw 30 times a game, instead of handing off to their stellar youth behind a fantastic line, and I say, BEARS ALL THE WAY!
I threw the pigskin until I was 46, I know what Favre is going through; unfortunately he's not doing it against kids in McKinley Park. He will wilt by game 12.
Put that in the bank!
No true Bears fan, would say anything other than: Who cares!
BTW, I haven't read much of your topics Stu, But you seem to ignore
the White Sox even better than Roman. Kudos! I mean that sincerely too.
Stu responds: Stuck, I love the Sox — truly I do — but when the Cubs keep providing so much head-shaking material, what is a blogger to do?!
Bears will be 5-11
I will realisitically say 12-4

Stu responds: Culzie, good to see you're still drinking the Kool-Aid despite what we saw in Buffalo (yeah, yeah, it was a meaningless preseason game, but that pass defense and that wide-receiving corps still had to make you nervous). Looking at your game-by-game picks, the only real stretch might be the victory at Atlanta (which was a playoff team last season). The opener at Green Bay also will be tough, but I'd say 11-5 is a realistic hope.
Hey Stu, Culzie is indeed sippin', but what we saw in Buffalo was preseason gm 1. Also Stu, how can we really evaluate our team based on a quarter of starting team play minus 2 key starters on O and 3 of the same on D?
Hitman, Vikes in SB? I'll believe it when I see it, but I guess there's a chance for anything. I bet there's also a chance he could throw us the ball a few times, in addition, he may knock off his old squad twice and be in the running for Bear mvp. I welcome the old man back to our division.
And Hitman, 5-11? Your the opposite of Culzie, you drink the spoiled kool-aid. Here I agree with Stu and would say they are capable of 11 wins, but they're not going to lose 11 games, I think your confusing the Bears with the Raiders.
Its Bret Farve. Never count out a Hall of Famer. Vikings have a lot of the pieces.
Favre just retired again!
He said that he wants to go into the Hall of Fame as a Seattle Seahawk.
Stu..
I thought long and hard about both of the games.
I basically figured...that Lovie always steps it up for GB...and he has a great record in Lambeau.
The Atlanta game...and the Arizona game could both cause us problems...but I really feel that we wont just be a 3 and out team any more...and with a real arm at QB..our Defense is going to have a revitalization like NO OTHER!
Vikings have a better chance than we do.
Superior QB, Running game, Speed Receiver, O-line, D-line. EVEN their back up is better.
Bears have a better secondary and coach. Thats it.
We are better than Green Bay, but not the Vikings.
Hitman is making me nervous.
Anyone with a brain knew Favre was going to play again after he had surgery on his arm, it was just a matter of when. Now the only question for the bears is how many games will Lovie lose for the team, lovie is now the weak link.
Speaking of meltdowns, surprised you didn't have a post on Peavy's confession of being unfit. "it's just not there." Kenny's move to spend huge money on free agents other teams no longer wanted to pay isn't looking so good. Here's a question, if the injury was to Peavy's ankle, and that has healed, then why is his fastball only 91mph?
Doesn't sound like he'll be pitching this year does it? Have to wonder if he'll ever come back at all or if he'll need additional surgery next year. Those sliders he throws can really chew up an elbow can't they?
At least Favre got his surgery and rehab out of the way in the off season. Plus he is joining a team with some established stars and good coaching, Peavy isn't.
I came up with 5-11 after grabbing a schedule at my local liquor store...umm.. sober...actually I came up with 4-12, but I decided even the Bears might get lucky...but this defense is going to be one of the worst in the league, for starters...and the O Line isn't going to hold up....not to mention no time to throw to no WR's...anyway..
maybe Olsen and Forte can do like Tomlinson and Gates...no, just kidding..Rivers is still in SD
Yeah Ben...my Kool Aid doesn't taste too good this year...well, the Silver and Black stuff tastes ok to me....

I only see three "W"s on your list, Hitman.
Now you have them at 3-13?
Why not make a complete fool of yourself, go all the way, and predict that they get shut out?
Ask Stu for my email addy. I give my permission, because if you'd care to make a wager that the Bears won't win more than three games, I'll go as high as your budget will allow. No limit.
Hey Stu, I say get a little creative and come up with a 'short list' of predictions; you have enough ammunition to work with. This way we can ALL come back and "you see, I told u so" in December.
I don't know about you, but I could sure use some Kool-Aid about right now!
Stu responds: Good idea, Anthony .... before the season starts, we'll see if we can get everybody on record with their prediction on how the Bears will fare.
do you ever wonder how many times I've said Fish On when I log into this thing...
but yeah... wow, it's even worse than I thought....
yeah...wow...I just realized that, too....only 3 wins..but that's what happens to teams who have terrible defenses, yes men for coaches, and blah blah blah
this years team reminds me of how Daniel Snyder puts together a team...lmao, who needs chemistry and time in a system?
heck, lineman can return kickoffs...and keep Hester out of the HOF while you're at it....laughing stock
Can someone explain how you win games with an OLine held together by paper clips and bubble gum?...no Pass Rush?...no WR's?...no pass coverage?..and can't stop the run?...how you gonna make up for that?
Greg Olsen going to stretch the field?...I'm in tears
and then getting out coached at half time...every time
wake up
Anyway...Vikings, Packers, Lions, Bears
and a big, fat thank you card postmarked from Colorado....
and Yes, Favre makes the Vikings the best in the NFC by a long shot
and Tom Cable is Coach of the Year..
I would like another Raiders/Vikings Superbowl...
It's all about Defense and line play...nothing new here
Quik thoughts;
After viewing the schedules; Green Bay wins our division, Bears and Raiders finish with identical records, Favre retires b4 end of season, again, N.E. meets Carolina for the big game, Hitman, Mark, and Edgar all kiss and make up and Culzie has an affair with Jessica Simpson. Naw, I'm just kiddin', Hitman, Mark and Edgar fued 'til the end!
...and Matt Jones will be going to Da Raidahs...just a hunch
I'm getting bored with this blog.
It seems like overnight, it's got Hitman's signature all over it. That should not be. Why should a mega-annoying, not-all-that-cerebral, lacking-in-substance, ellipses-eccentric, non-factual, Bears-hating, contrarian-personified, blabber-mouthed, question-and-point-evading-to-suit-his-own-interests, humorous-in-his-own-mind, Raiders-loving, Cutler-hating, Orton-loving, all-over-the-map surrealist of the sports blog world, dominate Full Court Press?
overnight?..let me tell ya bout what happened overnight, Gig...Wife wakes me up..says she hears something...now I do...it's flapping (no, not your gums)..but a freaking BAT above our bed...ok, I could have looked manlier, I admit..but
Gig...Only 1 in 20 people have truly dominant personalities...and good aim with a broom while screaming..
and your boredom..lack of imagination...look it up...that's what it is
now...Enter Marvin Harrison...oh, I cannot wait
I'd better set my drag for that one...
Only 91 MPH on a fast ball isn't good? Yikes..Now the Vikings being super. Who knows. The Williams still have to sit 4 games right? And there are always injuries that happen that no one expects. We could have a slew of injuries and a star could be born from a back up. I never like to indulge expectations for the future because I've yet to meet someone who had a crystal ball. But I really don't expect(there I go adding those) for Favre to last a whole season. He had surgery on his throwing arm to repair what? Wear and tear? so what you don't expect that another year older to be wear and tear alone. Plus this guy is going to have to get himself off a dome floor two or three times a game at a minimum. Either from being slammed or falling down overacting. Come on let's be realistic. I loved Walter Payton and he prepared himself to play every game of every season but we knew when he retired it was for the best because he couldn't do things like he did before. Not to take away from a legend but honestly he hasn't been the same since before the injury. I don't think he's anywhere near the player he was even last year and you can throw around the "still better than most" but what he did badly he will do even worst this year. You and I know that he doesn't have to be exceptional and don't have to pass for a ton of yards but who's to say that he will accept that. I just knew he was coming back. If not two days ago but at least before they played in Green Bay. His family bought up a ton of rooms in various hotels for that week back in June. Talk about transparent. Green Bay is going to whip him silly. His arm won't be dead in the fourth quarter like it's been. It'll be dead before the 2nd quarter. I wouldn't be surprised if Green Bay's owner put out a (secret)small bounty on him. We know they did it for the Bears back in 86 and Mr Martin did the honors. That will be a game I am looking forward to. That game alone could change the complexity of the division.
How is that big Jeff Garcia vs. JaMarcus Russell QB battle going in Oakland Hitman?
Maybe they are just waiting for Al Davis to pull a Bill Wirtz before they ever come close to a playoff game again.
They do sell a lot of Raider jackets to the gang bang crowd though.
Gotta know your fan base and play down to that.
Duhhh...... me like Darth Vader mask.
..and the Raiders are smart enough to have Veteran back ups who can win....Jim Plunkett comes to mind
Philly, go to the Raiders message board....then go to the Bears....knowledge vs fanboys
The Raiders will be in the playoffs this year...and it's Mr Davis to you
Let's compare the two franchises since the inception of The Oakland Raiders, shall we?
How many Superbowls?..how many Trophies?
you see, now isn't that better...I took the focus off of the Favre envy dripping from this thread..
A HOF'r has a score to settle, boys...and he has the team to do it with....woops, back into reality with yaz...not sorry
Sorry but the Raiders have not won a Super Bowl since 1983.
They have moved more times than they have won a title since then.
But… since you want to relive the past then lets compare the two teams history since you have to go back decades to find a winner with Oakland.
Raiders 3 titles.
Bears 9 titles.
Bears have the most wins in NFL history, the 3rd highest winning percentage in NFL history, the most post-season appearances in NFL history and the most members in the Hall of Fame....
Bad draft picks, crazy senile owner, jumping from one location to the next like they live in a mobile home....
Garcia could not even win the starting job with the Bucs and he was let go by the Browns and Lions.
Now he is struggling to beat out a fat, overrated back up QB in Oakland.
I would not call that a winner.
By the way… the Raiders are the only team in the league that will have their head coach suspended this season.
Classy!
This Blog Thread Post has more Hitman Stink on it than all that pile of sweaty wife beaters he keeps under his water bed!
I gather nobody likes our chances against against Pitt. or Philly. Bolderdash! I'll be disappointed if we don't win at least one, and not surprised if we win both. Philly will not be the same defensive team as in the past. You don't lose a Johnson AND a defensive backfield like Philly and not feel the effects. Also, it takes Big Ben at least three games to become efficient for Pitt, and we have them after one. Atlanta; we had them BEAT last year, and we are more improved than they. Green Bay; I don't know, they whooped us pretty good up there last year. What'd they run for, 400 yards???
As for the Raider conspiracy theory, Hitman, all I can say is; no team that 'can't' stop the run has done much in the N.F.L. in, say, the last 40 years. They've done nothing to improve. No need to touch any other faction, but I do love their receivers!
Hahahahahaaaa..
Nice culzie!
Well well, I see that the attention-seeking Hitman has contaminated this board now huh? More low class anti-Bears rants and predictions, what else is new? Hey get this folks, this is the famous Hitman who practically bragged to me a couple of days ago about predicting Brett Favre would unretire and and sign with the Vikings. How impressive! Gee, who else in football land didn’t predict that I wonder? Not only that, he revealed a personal side of him that his wife is a model. Yes, a MODEL! Aww, how cute. Of course he didn’t specify if she or it was a mannequin model, an inflatable model or a real life famous runway model, but wow, the guy is apparently a stud also, a real life James Bond talking it up in a sports blog. Gotta love it. It figures that he’s a big fan of the Oakland Raiders, one of the most current dysfunctional NFL teams today. But wait, you’ll see, just like experts and other die hard Raiders fans have been saying in the last 3-4 years, the Raiders will finally turn the corner this season! JaMarcus Russell (he can throw the football 100 yards! Check out YouTube!), Darren McFadden, Michael Bush, Darrius Heyward-Bey, Robert Gallery, Zach Miller, Sebastian Janikowski (the alcoholic kicker who can boom 70 yard field goals) and of course the bad-a** Raiders Defense, how can you go wrong??? Look at some of those former top 10 first round draft picks who have yet to make the Pro Bowl! What an all-star roster, of course let’s all just jump the bandwagon again! Oh by the way, the Hitman is really a Bears fan. Yep, he told me so. The catch is, he really despises Jerry Angelo and all the so-called “yes” men in the organization. He never really elaborated on who these “yes” men were, but why the need to explain that, he’s the Hitman, the football god! So in other words, his distaste of the Bears runs deep inside the organization, but he’s a true Chicago Bears guy at heart. How touching. And because he’s such an emotional true Bears fan, his mission in life is to constantly barrage the team with hateful rants and wish the team ill-will every year until Jerry Angelo the “yes” men are fired. Kind of a strange love-hate relationship isn’t it? Only the Hitman, the football god.
So here, let me recap again the key Hitman predictions this coming football season:
1. Super Bowl 2010: Oakland Raiders vs. Minnesota Vikings (he didn’t predict a winner yet, but given his current love crush of the Raiders, I’d say his SB champ is the Oakland Raiders)
2. Bears Regular Season record: 3-13, 5-11 or 6-10 (of course he’s all over the map as usual with his record predictions, but whatever, we should get it because he’s the man!)
3. Kyle Orton will make the Pro Bowl.
I’ll continue to do this every time the Hitman goes off on a Bears board. Keep it up, hotshot! Can’t wait until the end of the NFL season!
the drag on my reel is smoking this morning!!!
I make the wife beater look gooooood......you?.....I don't think they have 'em with bras sewn in
and look at Phildo...going back to 1920 to compare the "charter franchise" of the NFL to the Oakland Raiders
I bet you're a big fan of the tuck rule...
Not Zebco, Shimano...not even Abu Garcia can compete with the delusional fan boy....but it's when you break water that makes it all worth it..
Sorry Hitman but I am betting that it is you who is a big fan of the "Tuck" rule.
Like the scene in "Silence of the Lambs" where the Buffalo Bill killer tucks his.... oh you know what I mean.
Does that hurt?
I havent seen Edgar this worked up since someone stole his unabridged versions of War and Peace and The Illiad!
NFL notebook: Report: Tom Cable broke jaw of assistant

The bizarre incident involving Oakland Raiders coach Tom Cable allegedly assaulting a member of his coaching staff took another turn Thursday with a report ...

Raiders Defense: Raiders' Cable: 'Everything will be fine' Rotoworld.com
Peterson column: JawGate is business as usual for Raiders San Jose Mercury News
Also, Edgar...I love the Hit-Man-Prediction-O-Meter!
Nah, not worked up at all about the Hitman, Culzie. Just reiterating and recapping what he's been spewing all over the Bears boards in my own way, that's all. Anyone can talk tough behind the keyboard, but he takes it to another annoying level. Classic typing nerd with all the sorry lol's and lmao's, craving for needed attention by singling out and riling up Bears fans. I mean really, just the sad fact of patting himself on the back for predicting Favre's unretirement to play for the Vikings and then bragging about having a model wife. Oh my, pret-ty sad... All talk, no substance whatsoever.
Okay, here's how the division will line up on New Year's:
(this comes straight from the Devil)
Vikes 11-5 (lose NFC championship to, ack, New York)
Bears 9-7 (go Cutler! Run that ball!)
Pack 9-7 (big improvement, but no Brett to win those other two)
Detroit 5-11 (truly amazing improvement)
Everyone should keep in mind that Brett Favre has never
actually retired (how many regular season games has he
failed to start, on one team or another, since the Dark
Ages..? None!) Also keep in mind that he was pretty good
until he hurt his arm in week 12 last year. He almost
singlehandedly beat New England and Tennessee before that.
okay. 60th over here? Anyway did anyone see the 1-4 for 4 yards that Favre did in his preseason opener. He can blame those high school kids for being too short and too slow for throwing his timing off. If he knocks off the rust he won't even have anything left. Rust is all he has. Did he hurt his arm last year or did it try to fall off. He said that for this game he was trying not to fumble and by not fumbling he accomplished a lot. My son didn't drool with his sippy cup last week end and we're going to Chucky Cheese next weekend to celebrate. Hey. Whatever happened to Showbiz pizza?
Stu responds: I just saw the highlights, but you're right ... it looked like Favre was just trying to get out of there in one piece. Tarvaris Jackson looked like an All-Pro by comparison. But of course, it was his first game back, it was a preseason game .... if Favre stays healthy, he will give the Vikes a boost.
hook in mouth... all shaking... while you type
Go Brett Favre!!!

WOW...Cutler and the Offense looked Good against The Giants and their supposid killer front 4.
I know its still just pre-season, but does anyone else get that tingly feeling crawling up their pant leg too?
I like how some of the Viking fans are blaming Favre's stinker on him "missing" camp.
He did not miss camp.
He "skipped" it just like he did for the last 7 or 8 years that he played in Green Bay.
I didn't see the game, but I like what I'm reading and hearing about it!
OMG, I watched the first Half and start of the second of the Denver v. Seattle game last night.
Holy Mother Flipping Burgers....we not only stole the best young 48Karat QB away from the entire league, we replaced him with a dime store, cubic zirconium knock off version of a QB.
First of all, Mcdaniels looked like he wanted to rip Ortons head off on numerous occassions last night, especially after he blew the 3rd TO with about 5 mins to go in the 2nd Q because he couldnt get the plays together. Secondly he looked just as scared for his life and inept in a Bronco Uni as he did in a Bears uni, I dont think the wardrobe change made much of a difference in his game.
But the capper in our caper was when I got to see Kyle Orton, pull a red zone special, broken play, left handed jump pass interception play....that he came up with on the fly...with seconds left in the half. You know he went off script for that one. Boy, if he hadnt have been so clean shaven, McDaniels breath woulda melted his neckbeard right off, with how up close and personal he got into Kyles little baby face.
DUDE....
THE BEARS PULLED OFF THE HEIST OF THE CENTURY..
The Giants were playing some back-ups at the linebacker, corner and safety positions, but there's no hiding the fact the offensive line totally dominated the Super Bowl M.V.P. defensive line of New York. That, my friend, was impressive.
Given that extreme luxury, it doesn't matter who we have at wide receiver; they WILL have time to get open!!! Cutler feels the blocking lanes as well as anyone since Dan Marino, with three times the mobility. TWO FOR TWO! I'm excited! Now, if the defense can exhibit some old magic, we should OUTSCORE pretty much everyone on our schedule.
We spend so much time, rightfully so, examining the all important defensive line, but little do we know that it may be this, still learning how to compliment, offensive line that makes the difference.
This could be a very interesting year. I saw enough to get September fever in August, but the next game will make me a true believer. The third game is THE game in the preseason. I can't believe the 'O' line had a fluke game. Anyone else but Pitt., Tenn., and the Giants, and I wouldn't put too much emphasis into it; but that was shielding at it's finest, against a class bunch.
If teams have to play catch-up against any 'D', it actually makes the task a little easier for the defensive side of the ball. The group we eventually put out there will handle the task, coordinator included.
Hitman, I lied! The Bears WILL have a better record than the Raiders, and then some. Actually, a whole lotta some.
