Weber keeping names off Illini uniforms

Illinois coach Bruce Weber was on "The Waddle & Silvy Show" this morning and said he just ordered the uniforms for next season and they won't include names on the back for the second straight season.

"I went back and forth," Weber said. "It's different in football, because they have helmets on.

"If you're good enough in basketball, they'll know who you are."

It's not unusual for a coach to stick with a philosophy after a successful season, and the Illini have been surprisingly good.

Now here is yet another coach that should be appreciated. I understand what he is trying to do. For me, it really doesnt make a difference because your play will simply make you stand out. Its symbolic and best.

Way to go Bruce! Team first, individual players second. The kids on this years team prove that point. Way to go guys, you've made us proud this year. Keep it up!

All of these kids need to realize that you play for the name on the front of the jersey, not the one on the back. Good for Coach Weber!

Going out in the first round. And Illinois is my squad. They have guards, but they have nothing inside and those guards are not premier guards. NU exposed them. I hope they go at least one round. Davis is the real deal Holyfield. Pro bound. I hope he stays one more year.

I've always heard that clothes make the man. So if you are a man, it shouldn't matter if your name is on the back of your uniform or not. And, if you are a man, man up, and allow your uniform, your number, and your play... make a name for yourself. On and off the court.
