In the wake of A-Rod's news conference

How would you like to be Alex Rodriguez's cousin right now?

I can guarantee dozens of reporters are trying to find the cousin who A-Rod said was complicit in his steroid use.

Do you believe Rodriguez? I do, I think. Although the more I think about it, the more skeptical I get.

A-Rod has to know he's under a huge media microscope right now and it would take unbelievable nerve to lie at this point.

Then again, I think of Rod Blagojevich.

A-Rod is getting a huge benefit of a doubt right now, and I can't think he would be dumb enough to waste that by not coming clean fully. If more revelations come out, his reputation never will be able to be rehabilitated.

If you believe Rodriguez, how stupid to take a chance by allowing someone who doesn't know what he's doing to inject you with something you're not sure about. Would Rodriguez be that stupid?

He kept saying he was young and naive, but he was between 25-27 and a seven-year veteran. That's not young and naive.

It's interesting to see other players speaking out about the cheaters. Aramis Ramirez wants the entire list of 104 players who tested positive in 2003 to be released.

Honest. I ran outta gas. I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from outta town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake, a terrible flood, locust's. It wasn't my fault!! I swear to God!!

"energy booster"??? uh huh....also love that he used Sosa's lawyer too. Remember when Sosa forgot how to speak english and his lawyer read how Sosa didn't "take any illegal steroids"? A cunning linguist indeed!

I don't give a rat's ass about A-Rod. This guy is an egomaniac. He has been a cancer on every team he has played. In fact, each team he has left has had a better record the year after his departure. All he does is put up glossy, individual numbers, but his team suffers.

Until baseball comes clean, MLB is suspect. I mean after the season he had in 2008, Carlos Quentin should be tested, because he had a dramatic improvement from any prior year. Same should be required of Ryan Dempster. Too much improvement in 2008 -- especially for a pitcher who hadn't thrown more than 118 innings in any of the prior 5 seasons. How did he not tire down the stretch??

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Everyone on the 104 person list should be suspended for an entire season. That will send a message.

Anything less is a farce, and thanks to Bud Selig, that's what MLB and its alleged tough-love stance on PED has become... a farce.

Wow, this guy is a clown. ARod gets caught, then makes up the biggest BS story I've ever heard. I guess it's a better story then,"I accidentally sat on some steroids." Maybe A-Rod just rather be known as a complete idiot then a cheater.

Really sweetheart it's not what it looks like. She was suffering from hypothermia and I was saving her life with my body heat!
The last person I'd trust putting anything in my body would be my cousin, I mean he's an exec with McDonalds so look what he's peddling to the public already, heart attacks in a sack!

I agree with Aramis. Every other sport has transparency when it comes to those caught using illegal substances what makes baseball any different?

Arod's main problem is that he cares too much. GOOD QUESTIONS my eye!!!!! There is not ONE question he is being asked that is either self explanatory or self-incrimminating to Arod. "would you have come clean"? is my favorite! I wanted to drop kick that guy right in the face!!!! What is gone missing from all of this, is that this man should not be answering any of those questions in the FIRST place! Somebody dimed him out!! And nobody really cares at ALL about JUSTICE. The sooner Arod learns that he will NEVER be able to say one thing that people will really receive, the better. True fans will stick with you regardless. We understand what happened. The man didn't "cheat", he COMPETED in the environment he was in by leveling the playing field. But the media spin doctors love to play on words.

Its the baseball media, most of whom are jealous baseball purists, armed with calculators and almanacs! They couldn't play the game so they are going to make life hell for the ones who does play. I would just love to see a journalist or writer lose his/her job for not living up to the standards of someone who made their livings off of watching THEIR every move. "Hey you took a hit from that bong - lets grill and fire you". Hey you stole that story - lets grill and fire you". Hey lets shove 100 mikes in your face and make you answer questions like "if we never caught you, would you have come forward". And hey lets ban you, grill you and fire you!!! They are ATHLETES, answering questions from people like Greeny who has a poindexter IQ. Its unfair.

KLSS --

Either you 6:11 a.m. post is purposely tongue in cheek or I have to ask, "What the hell are you smoking?"

Journalists who plagiarize another's work have been fired -- even after winning the Pulitzer (the equivalent of the MVP Award in baseball if you need a comparison).

Do some editors look the other way? Sure. But the difference is that the public is not wagering money on newspapers and their coverage of "all the news that's fit to print".

I hate to bring in the lowest common denominator, but gambling is it. If people are placing bets on baseball teams with the belief that everyone on the field is playing on the "same level field" that's fine. However, we are finding that some players aren't exactly "human" and are manipulating their performance.

That's why race horses have to pee in a bucket.

Boxers have to provide urine samples.

Cyclists get tested.

NFL players get tested.

Certainly, some slip thru in each sport, but to say that A-Rod "competed" is a gross exaggeration -- in this environment or any other era, environment, endeavor, etc. A-Rod cheated -- not for the betterment of his team, but so he could put up glossy, individual statistics that would deliver him an adoring public and multiple millions of dollars in income and endorsements.

He did it for himself and now you want us to feel sorry for him.

Aint no way that's going to happen. He did it to cheat on an individual basis, he can now roast in the public glare as an individual.

I hope he roasts for a good long time.

In some ways I can sympathize with these drug-oriented people who think drugs can solve their problems. We all have followed suit with aspirins, ibuprofin, vitamins, etc. Warnings about potential side effects also seem to have little impact. Every time I see a prescription drug or over-the counter commercial and then listen to the disclaimers about side-effects, I wonder why anyone would ever risk using the product. I keep waiting for cortizone shots to take a hit. If they were banned, a lot of players would be sitting on the bench in pain or would simply quit playing because of the pain.

He had no idea it was bad for him to do, so thats why he sneaked out of the country and told no one about it.

Hmmmmm...

Dont spit on my face and tell me its raining!

I don't like bullies. Even if they where pocket protectors. And they are all ganging up on Arod. I mean really, what do folks want that man to say? He needs to stop talking, but he wants to be loved. I know the man was greedy and selfish, but I still respect him more than Canseco. What he did - he did to himself, and I will take that any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Who are the real victims here? Because it sure wasn't the fans who got a great show, it wasn't Baseball who got rescued, and it wasn't Arod who got paid. Maybe Hank Aaron or guys like "Frank Thomas"? But who cares because without the Arod's there would not have been a game to watch or play.

I will say the Frank Thomas argument cracks me the Eff up

ahhhhh, the good ole days at Auburn, lmao

whatever

He needs to just shut up. The more a person talks the more they look guilty. He must be more guilty than we first thought. He's counter-punching before the next punch is thrown. He should've made one statement and moved on. He remind me of O.J. acting like if he can just talk to you a little more he can convince you that he is innocent. Making those faces and expecting the world to fall for whatever lies he has already told. Just proves to me that he has been lying for a long time. Pull a "Baretta" and disappear. Just say "no comment, I've already said what I'm going to say on the subject." He's making himself available to reporters can't balme a reporter who shows up.

I hope he roasts in the public spotlight for a good long time.

I hope people show up at baseball games with "I'm A-Rod's Cousin" signs.

I hope the Yankees play the Mets this year in a cross-town series and some Mets fan walks the aisles with a sandwich board that says "Ya Gotta Believe..." on the front and "A-Rod didn't know what he was taking. HA! HA! HA!" on the back.
