Vikes' Williamses out; Bears in?

Ok Bears fans, the shoe fell and Minnesota's Pro Bowl defensive studs Pat and Kevin Williams are among six suspended by the NFL.

Does this mean the Bears will win the NFC North?

I say probably.

The Vikings will miss their defensive Williams wall, especially Kevin. And their schedule for the last month is tougher than the Bears' last four games.

But nothing is guaranteed for the Bears. They have made average quarterbacks look All-Pro and have played down to the level of competition at times.

Still, after watching Jacksonville Monday night, that game will be a gimme. After Jax, the Bears host the Saints, Packers and finish at Houston.

The Vikes' final four games are at the Lions and Cards, then hosting the Falcons and Giants.

Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum,
Their appeals they had lost!
Said Dee to brother Dum,
"Four games is quite the cost!"

And while Viking's fans all over
cursed and whined and so forth,
The Windy City cheered,
For Da Bears will take the North!

Whitesox fans should be getting excited, another league steroid policy gets enforced and their team once again has a chance in the playoffs!!!

This is pretty pathetic. We have to hope that the Bears can feed off the Williams wall suspension. They don't deserve it, if they wanted to win the division they should have beaten the Vikings. But now we have to pray for a MN nosedive and we can sneak into the playoffs... embarrassing. Minnesota was beatable and we let them off the hook.

Better late than never. I still think the Bears are quite likely to blow the division. Let's be honest - they stink. I keep waiting to see some urgency from this team, but the season is now 3/4 over, and they still look like they really don't care.

Seriously - they couldn't have figured out this suspension last Saturday? They've known about these players for months! Gee thanks Roger Goodell.

Yes six players were suspended for using the diuretic star caps, but is it fair to hold accountable each player for placing supplements in their body that they believe were okay? It is a federal Law that all drugs must with 100% accuracy disclose their contents. So heres a simplfied analogy for all you bear fans. You go out to your favorite restaurant to get a bite to eat. Unknown to you someone slips an illegal substance in your coke. You show up for work the next day and you are choosen for a random drug test. Guess what your results are positive and because of that you lose your job. Now is that fair? They you accidently took an illegal substance unknown to you with no intent of ever during anything illegal? THis is way this ruling is so disappointing, would you bears fan rather win with class instead of get handed over the division? I would because it must have been imbarrasing to see Bernard Berrian trott down the field half jogging because he burned your secondary so bad. Peace out

No chance. The Bears need to win 2 more than the Vikings. Our pass defense is awful and we have to face the Saints, an almost assured loss versus the best quarterback in the NFL. Orton can't beat him in a shootout with our receiving crew. The Vikings would need to go 0-4 or 1-3, and we'd have to win all 3 of our other games. I don't see that happening, I see us going 8-8 on the season. We will likely beat the Packers for 2nd in the North

I guess they'll probably make it now, but I'm not sure it's healthy for the Bears as a franchise. It kind of sends a dismal message to all the prima donnas on defense that they can kind of tank it and then back it in the garage i.e. the playoffs.

I've also been thinking lately that the problem with the Bears may really be Ted Phillips. Yeah, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that Mr. New Soldier Field may be in a situation of little incentive when it comes to canning perhaps the biggest problem of all: Jerry Angelo. For every Matt Forte, there's a plethora of sloppy picks that JA has made. Of course, I still believe Lovie needs to go. However, Jerry won't get rid of Lovie and I'm thinking Phillips won't get rid of Angelo. Oh, Virginia, can you please help us?

Still, Chicago isn't so bad a sporting venue after all:

1. The Blackhawks will make the playoffs and will win the Cup within five years.

2. The Bulls have Derrick Rose.

3. Javier Vazquez appears gone! Even if the Sox got a bucket of bolts in return, hallelujah! My prayers will have been answered!

This is what it has come down to for the Bears; suspensions and or injuries to players on good football teams that stand in their way.

I guess if you can't do it with talent and coaching, bad luck for the other guy if your only hope.

Day late, dollar short???

I hope you are right Roman, but it just doesn't look like it.

Bears Offense has been stagnant since Orton went down. Some of that is Orton (injury), but much of it is the playcalling. This offense does not vaguely resemble the one earlier in the season. This was the balance that provided so much hope and optimism.

The Defense is steady, but not GOOD. (shaky corners and no pressure on the QB). When was the last time we jammed someone at the line of scrimmage?

But overall the Bears are just not good enough as a unit to win the games they SHOULD. They have lost most of the close ones and that is a sign of being a step below the good teams. We are average-poor right now. We still can pull it together and make a nice run - we have the talent, but we are not all on the same page right now. A great deal of that is management.

I trully hope we make some drastic changes in philosophy on Offense next year and just cut Babich on defense. He has to go just to show the fans that management is serious. Would be nice to axe both Turner and Babich, but that is just wishful thinking. Angelo has to send LOVIE a silent message.

GOOD ONE MIKE

If they wind does this mean Babbich and Lovie and Angelo get contract extensions?

Vikings are so, how to put it, so not in a good position right now. This came at absolutely the worst time for them. Right when they were playing confident on both ends of the ball, this happens and crashes their hopes and dreams.

I break down the remaining Vikings games like so:

@ Detroit, first game without the 'Williams Wall' - This game will most likely end up in a win, but will not be a cake walk. First game (at home) resulted in a 12-10, hard fought win. Vikings will get a taste as to how weak their secondary is, and how much their d-line was able to cover this fact up. Look for Charles Aka "Megatron" to have a big game, and rookie Kevin Smith to have a td or two.

@ Arizona The Cardinals are playing great at home, and Kurt Wrner is (quietly?) having an MVP year. This will start the Viking demise.

Atlanta. Minnesota will get a nice healthy dose of Michael 'Next coming of Jim Brown' Turner and Roddy White. Matt Ryan cements his ROY trophy and the Vikings lose again. No horn to save them either!

New york Giants - Best overall team in football comes in and dominates. Vikings left cussing out diuretics and roger Goodel.

bears go 3-1, including a big win over the Packers to cement the division. Bears get lucky, undoubtedly, but a division win counts, rabbit foots and all.

Sneaking in the back door is okay with me as long as the Bears get inside. I think they have a good shot at winning three of the four games, but Green Bay has shown that they have a plan to beat the Bears that is pretty difficult to overcome. I fear the Packers have as good a chance as the Bears to profit from the Williams' suspensions.

I see a few are happy, elated or maybe on a downward spiral because of this. I simply want to know how does this affect the offense of the Vikings? Maybe they don't have their best defensive tackles, but they still got that guy named Adrian Peterson! Hell, his backup was running over the Bears defense!

And the way the Bears' coaches called plays who to say it still wouldn't have turned out the way it did last Sunday without these two guys?

Again, why did the Bears give Peanut Tillman all of that money?

Carlos must be a Cubs Fan? How sad!

Roman,

Who cares if they win the North?
Is it going to be the start of big things for this Team next year? Will Lovie Weis or Butt Buddy Babich or Stomach Turner coach better? No. Will the Defense be better? No. Will the offense be better even with a stud receiver? No. Will the Bears suddenly beat good Teams on the road or at home? No. Will anything change at all from this year's disaster? No. No. No. and No!!!

Nothing will change if they win the division except Lovie Weis won't be fired. If Lovie isn't fired we can expect the same old s__t we've seen the last two years. Lovie Weis is a bad coach and won't change so the results will be the same. Get used to it. If you don't believe me think about Norv Turner. No question he is a bad coach and now has proven that for 3 different Teams. Is there anyone out there who believes that there is any chance in hell Norv Turner can be a winning NFL coach? No. Would anyone want Norv Turner coaching the Bears? No.
Same goes for Lovie. He has proven he is a bad coach. Why would anyone think he is capable of becoming a great coach? People are who they are.
If the Bears win the North so what? It will be one and done in the Play-Offs. My take is still the same.
The best thing that could happen is that the Bears finish the 6-10 and Lovie Weis gets fired. That way they could bring in a good coach and win before all the talent gets old and they have to totally rebuild.
The right coach could win with these players right now, no question Lovie can't. Bill Belichick could win a Super Bowl with these guys, Lovie can't beat Green Bay. Bill Cowher would terrorize the NFC with this Team,Lovie can't stop the Vikings.

Same thing goes for College Football. Does anyone think that Notre Dame would lose to Syracuse or USC 38-3 with these same players if Nick Saban or Urban Meyer were the coach? Come on.

Bottom line. Lovie Weis gets fired we have hope!! Lovie stays..........thank god for College Basketball!!!!

You will not find as supportive a Bears fan as I am. But can we really expect the Bears to be anything more than the 500 team they have proven themselves to be? I trully hope I am wrong and that they wake up and dominate. What is crazy about the Bears is they could lose all 4 games or win the superbowl and NOBODY would be surprised.

When you can hang 2 of the three interceptions Kyle threw last Sunday on the WR's?....What? just throw it to Forte like Brees did to LT his last year in SD?...I want and have wanted for 2 years.. Hester at WR...but I never saw him as a #1...he'll tear it up as a two, but Bradley and Moose aren't here any longer..and Earl Bennet isn't going to be given a shot as per the Bears organization being personnel deciding morons...I gave the draft a D then.. and Forte and Harrison don't change it...I digress before I freak out..

OK, we have our quarterback, our RB, and our TE's...that's it...and the OLine is as fine as I said it would be...with the exact guys starting...we drafted a spineless LT?..like I said..morons

and what is it with having the ball placed into your hands and dropping it?...I know Kyle throws lazers, but did you ever hear Favres WR's complain about the ball being thrown too hard?...ok, maybe after they broke their fingers, but they caught it.

and the WR's being bullied?... freaking sickening..., but why is the next logical step not being able to handle a hard throw?..kinda gay, I'd say...and I'd say it to their faces..

Rashied Davis gets my "Fredo" award for last week..

Bobby Wade?, Justin Gage?, Mark Bradley?, Moose?, Bernard Berrian?, Thomas Jones?...and I freaking told you so

I worked with Wade's sister and she's hot..

Ever since Ditka left Chi..DaBears have been 2-3 years behind the things I have said..and then they do it...albeit too late.. (even the Jeff George signing (veteran backup w/an arm) came 2 years late)...and then only to pluck it all up like only a yes man with an ego can..here's some news...I'm throwing things into walls again...literally.. placing soft things within my reach so as not to harm my house...it's time to stop watching..

Jerry and the Yes Men need to leave Chicago...It's sickening

GM..Mike Ditka..
Head Coach..Mike Singletary
D-Coordinator/Asst Head Coach..Ron Rivera
O-Coordinator...Ron Turner (It's not broken/don't fix it)

I'm tired of twits in my city...and Nary a yes man in "my" heirarchy as you can see

I don't want the Bears to go to the playoffs this year...they will be grossly out coached...and I like this group of guys we have on the roster enough to not wish that on them..

Kyle, Forte, and A.Brown get my game balls for the year..and let AP run more..best vision, feet, squaring the shoulders..it's always been that way, tho...and he's always been the odd man out...ode to Jerry/Hatley..yes men..AP is definitely a man of the real kind

And Wolfe on special teams (great job)..now, let him return the ball, wouldya?..stupids they are

sign Kyle to the extension already...and how about someone to throw to?

Cut Brandon Lloyd..now..he's a sissy

hope I didn't forget anyone...

Congrats on the kid, Culzie and Wife...All my best

Keith, did you just say that no one would be surprised if the Bears won the Super Bowl? I would be!

Well folks, the Bears may have just gotten better. No disrespect to Dusty at all (he played well all year), but Adams' fresh legs and gung-ho attitude, Harrisons' newly increased playing time, and Orton one more game healthier may well be a welcome change of scenery. We have a damn good chance to win out (yeah, yeah, I know, one game at a time) and Keith, I'm with you on this one, with a few exceptions; The Bears could lose 3 out of their next 4 games, or make it to Super Bowl, and I wouldn't be surprised. Shocked, yes! Surprised, not after watching the Phillies glide through the play-offs. More often than not it's 'May the hottest team win'.

Is that smoke coming out of Adams' nose?

Not to defend Lovie, but honestly do you think Cowher wants to come here? Is there enough money or enough talent collectively on this team to win now. We lost several players who aren't studs but are helping other teams win games. Do you guys remember the amount of negative comments that Chris Harris, Thomas Jones, Moose, and Bradley got when they were here. Fans were constantly downing these guys. The same ones who take turns downing either Orton or Rex and just about anyone else who got a raise last off season. If you can remember, these blogs were awfully brutal towards Briggs because he wanted to be paid accordingly. Fans brought up everything they could to keep him down; Baby mama drama, car crash and the fact that it was obviously Urlacher who was making him the player that he was. If you were one of those "downers" you have to admit that you got a lot of that wrong. The are same fans who hate to admit that he is the best player on defense right now. In your eyes it has to still be because of Brian that he is playing better than everyone else. The same ones who said that we were going to be 6-10 as a stretch. You want to say that you have the answers and they have to be a plain and simple answers at that. I don't mean to make light of any comments but you lose me when you mention Ditka as a G.M. The same Ditka who traded his entire draft for a "Doobie brother" in his capacity as a coach. No. Take that away. As time goes by ,Ditka only looks like the coach that was blessed to have a draft guru and a defensive Icon as the defensive coordinator. When the talent tree dried up his teams were worse than this one. In all actuality Ditka resembles Lovie a great deal because they both wilted under expectations and weren't so great after them and their teams got paid better. But since Lovie isn't trying to follow the Ditka pattern he sucks really, really bad. Losing is bad all around. But dreaming about Cowher is setting you guys up for failure. If we don't get him, which I don't think will ever happen, you guys have a built-in excuse to give the current coach and his replacement a hard time. And also why is it always a former Bear or the best to resemble a Ditka who you think can be a great coach here? I keep hearing Cowher and I've heard a few who have mustaches like Ditka. How come I never see Brian Billick's name mentioned? The guy won a Super Bowl with the worst QB ever to win. Be realistic or use some imagination. If you are going to mention an 85 Bear why not mention Leslie Frazier at least once. Singletary? Other than LB coach for Baltimore he hasn't put his inprint on any side of the ball of any team. He just leap frog over everything else and wast elevated to assistant head coach. And interim head coach after his head coach was fired after failing. Singletary has to assume some of the blame for San Fran being bad because as an assistant he hag to have some input. Or was he the yes man you say Babich is? And failing in one town does not mean that you can't win later on. Billichek was a loser when he was in Cleveland but won quite a lot in New England. But he's not winning any Super Bowls this year with his current team so why bring him up as a successor with this team? Everyone need a good situation to succeed. With so few talented players and some declining players who aren't as good as they were, why are we so hard on the guy without the mustache?

Thomas Jones.

That name; ... those two words, are the most damning indictment of this regime that any fan could possibly utter.

What were they thinking?

They dumped a guy, who in all likelihood will end up leading the league at his position in total yardage, yards per carry, and scoring. I'd say that those are three pretty important categories, and to let a player who leads the entire NFC in those departments slip away is positively insane.

And they lost him for what reason? To "prove" once and for all that Jerry's first round pick wasn't really the bust that we all thought he was?

Way to go, Angelo!

The litany of Jerry's miscues in the personnel department, is legion, and his stubborn refusal to acknowledge, and accept the obvious is a character flaw that has done irreparable damage to this franchise.

But Thomas Jones is the icing on this road apple pie ... The cherry on top of a disgusting Vanilla Sundae that's crammed down our throats week in and week out, only to be regurgitated on this, and other blogs.

How is it that his bosses never call him out about these failures? And where can I get bosses like these?

Hitman, let me be the first to say...congratulations! This is the first post I've seen from you that is at least somewhat coherent. Take a good hard look at the medication your currently on and be glad to know it's working.

And I see you've caught the attention of WRD. I know from experience that when the words "Ditka + Head Coach" and/or "Ditka + GM/General Manager" are written in a post, his ears point upward like a dometic house cat's. He then spouts off with an essay-long post on how Ditka's so incompetent he couldn't even put his shoes on straight.

Willy, it's true that with Buddy Ryan's departure Ditka failed to achieve the same level of success that the '85 squad brought. And he's made some professional blunders like the Ricky Williams pick you alluded to. But who's to say he hasn't learned from those past mistakes? Maybe he could do a good job at some position with the Bears as a coach or manager. I don't know.

But I do know that like us diehard fans, he truly understands what Chicago Bears football is all about. The same goes for Singletary. When I see Samurai Mike stand on the 49er's sidelines, focused on the game, crouched with his hands on his thighs like he's ready to jump on the field and make a tackle himself, I see true, bonafide passion for the game.

Lovie on the other hand could very well be hooked up to an EKG monitor during gametime and be declared legally dead.

I don't know about the rest of the people on here, but I want a coach who oozes passion and intensity for the game of football because it's infectious to the entire locker room. I want a coach who will kick a$$ when his players do something stupid. Lovie tried to cover for Briggs after the lamborghini incident! And what did he do after Tillman's moronic penalty costs the Bears the Tampa game??? NOTHING! Singletary threw his problematic TE out of the game and the guy has been a better player since then. Ditka made some comment about shoving his foot up Tillman's behind.

As it stands, we have no passion, intensity, urgency, accountability etc. on this team. And those elements are crucial if you want to win.

As for Brian Billick, I've said before that I would love for him to come in here and become the defensive coordinator. It's a shame someone like him has been reduced to a commentator though he does offer sound, expert analysis.

Here is a situation Roman, where you have to be p'o'd there were liberal judges on the bench!!!!

Mike, not every coach has to be intense to coach on the sideline. Dungy won against everyone else by being very similar to Lovie. I have to mention this because it has to be mentioned every now & again: a black man can't be fiery & intense or screaming a lot because it doesn't come out the same way to some people. It looks like he's a mad dog & people other than yourself doesn't take it the same way. In this town we take it that a coach has to be Ditka-like or he's not worthy. Times have changed but for Bear fans it never does. Maybe you like Ditka because your names are Mike. Same with Singletary. Maybe having a coach named Mike will be a way for you to bring back Iron Mike instead of Sock Puppet Mike. I'm not sure. I'm not sure if you mentioned Billick here before or not. if you did kudos to you. Maybe during one if your sock performances you did. I usually ignore when someone put words in other's mouth. if you want to give opinions do that but leave me out of it. you don't have to mention me in every other post . Epecially since I don't mention you at all. I was never a fan of Kukla, Fran & Ollie nor did Sherry & Lambchop do it for me either. That's why you don't move me . Ok, I've acknowledged you this week. Now get outta here & try to contain your glee because someone noticed you.

Mike says "As it stands, we have no passion, intensity, urgency, accountability etc. on this team. And those elements are crucial if you want to win."

Mike, I couldn't agree with you more. I'll add something rather ironic or negative in an attempt to defend those of us who desire this regime to be given the royal flush:

I think your statements also extend to a team that isn't winning in Chicago. What I mean is that it's possible to have those qualities and not win (usually due to lack of talent). Still, I think most Chicago Bear fans would respect and bend over backwards for such a football team. I understand the arguments against guys like Cowher. I think what most of us are trying to say is that even if his coaching style doesn't win, it's a style that appeals to us as fans. Winning is most important, but not all teams are able to do it all of the time. The Chicago Bears ought to entertain us when the final score isn't as we'd like it to be. This is a team that absolutely must win to give most of us any sense of satisfaction.

Oh and another thing Mike. No game comes down to one play that loses it for a team. Everything else has to factor into it. If you fail to score enough points or stop a team from scoring that will do it more than one play. Fans are always trying to place blame with everything that happens & rarely can agree on what ails a team. Either blame the coach, ownership, management or a player they don't particularly like. I just get tired of bringing 85 up when its been almost a quarter of a decade. And really you scared me when you went into detail about Singletary on the sideline. What song was playing when you visualized that? " If Lovin' You is wrong, I don't want be right"? At least you are a great writer I must admit.

William, believe me, Dungy gets fired up from time to time. Ever see him when he feels the refs blew a call? He blows his lid!

I don't necessarily care for a loud mouth on the sidelines, but I would like a coach that at least shows some emotion. Energy is contagious. Why do you think teams do better at home? Heck, because they've got tens of thousands of fans screaming and cheering for them. It makes a difference.

Did you see the Steelers game? After the game clinching INT for a TD Mike Tomlin was all smiles, hugging his player and patting him on the head. Praise is good. It motivates people. And in a game that bleeds intensity, a team will find itself short-handed without the proper motivation.

Don't get me wrong, I like Lovie as a person. I think he's a nice guy, wouldn't make a bad neighbor. But his lack of emotion is hurting this team.

"Epecially since I don't mention you at all....Ok, I've acknowledged you this week. Now get outta here & try to contain your glee because someone noticed you (the very next post)Oh and another thing Mike...."

Do I detect a contradiction?

"I just get tired of bringing 85 up when its been almost a quarter of a decade."

You know, it's not just Bears fans that bring up that team. A lot of football people bring up the '85 Bears. Some even claim it was the best NFL team ever. Just tonight Madden and Michaels brought them up during the Ravens game. Those guys were like a legend that came to life and they exemplified, in my opinion, true football perfection. It's impossible to ever leave a team like that in the past as is the case with the '89 49er's, 2000 Ravens or '72 Dolphins.

"At least you are a great writer I must admit."

Thanks. I've been working on a book the last four years. It's very encouraging to hear that.

"you don't have to mention me in every other post"

Honestly, not to pick on you, but we have highly conflicting viewpoints so we're gonna clash every now and then. Perhaps you intentionally play devil's advocate at times?

"And really you scared me when you went into detail about Singletary on the sideline. What song was playing when you visualized that? " If Lovin' You is wrong, I don't want be right"?

Haha, fair enough! Guess I've taken some light-hearted shots at you over the past so I'm well overdue myself. Although in my defense, we are talking about sports where guys pat each other on the butt all the time and nobody bats an eye.

Anyway, the Bears won and it's a good thing. I think we can at least agree on that.

Villano...I couldnt DISAGREE with you more.

Thomas Jones, although woulda helped us last year, having him around this year, woulda been the worse thing to happen to the Bears in the last 25 years.

WHY...you ask?

Because, then we would never have discovered how good Forte is.

RUNNING BACK was not the Bears Problem this year.

As a matter of fact Forte just passed GAYLE SAYERS for most yards as a rookie Bear. Er uh...and you would rather have Thomas the Human Ping Pong Ball Jones?

THE ONLY REASON T2J is having a decent year this year in his 19th year as a RB, is solely because of one person... BRETT FAVRE!

Dont act like T2J would be tearing up defenses with Kyle Orton under center....LOL

no sireee...getting Rid of Thomas Jones, may prove to be the SMARTEST move Angelo has ever made.

Villano...I couldnt DISAGREE with you more.

_____________________________________________________

The point is that they didn't need a running back to begin with.

They had a pretty damned good one, and they wasted a first round pick on his "replacement", and then had to spend another high draft pick on his SECOND replacement.

BTW ... I'll take TJ's scoring stats this year over Forte's in a heartbeat. He's been huge in NY.

You brought up my name 2 weeks ago for no reason and I didn't respond. I make it my business to not contribute to certain discussions because they go no where and they don't change anyone's opinion. But me ignoring you must've made you peeved. We seem to mainly disagree about the 85 Bears and their abilities as they pertain today. And yeah I watched Mike Tomlin on the sideline acting more like a frat brother than a coach and I wasn't exactly praising him about his conduct though I admit I was rooting for the Steelers to beat the Cowboys because I can't stand the Cowboys. But isn't he getting a lot of wins with players that Cowher had? So what makes either a great coach? Looks like the players to me. Big Ben is still subpar and all that emotion isn't translating to him. Now I see why Orton like to compare himself to Ben. They are very similar. And I'm going to attribute a lot of who the Steelers are to their to their G.M. for bringing them in over the years. I'm sure a lot of people didn't like Tomlin practically grabbing his n*ts while he was showing way too much emotion. I thought it was over the top and showboating. Maybe because he reminds me of Omar Epps, I thought he was acting. I'm sure he will tone it down. Lovie smiled once does that count as emotions? But I've noticed that you search out arguments just like you did with Creigton over on Brad's blog. Creighton didn't even insult you or anyone in particular but you took it upon yourself to call him out. He just ignored you. You were debating Britney's acting ability? Come on you had to let that one go. But you couldn't. Over the years on this blog I've seen it happen where someone is trolling to get noticed. Good for you you're getting exactly what. " Roman, where are my comments"? And Lovie must be rubbing off onto the fans because they sat on their hand the whole game and didn't cheer that much. Other team's fans know that they are the 12 man sometimes. These fans are too jaded. Then they come here and continue the jadedness. And tell me about the book and when it comes out. Tell Charmin to contribute the paper and I'm sure I will get around to using your book for something.

And Madden and a lot of announcers don't seem to like these Bears at all. I heard more about the Jags than the Bears during the game and Madden and those guys at FOX always favor the other team we are playing. I don't listen to anything Madden says since he couldn't stop himself for calling Favre, Brett and being obviously disappointed whenever Favre loses. I can care less if he continues to live in the past because he doesn't matter anymore. He's not bigger than the game. No one watches for him. They always pit 2 winning teams so that sells more than Madden.

Brrrr...did it just get bitterly cold on this post or what?

Chilly Willy, I made no mention of Tomlin's win record, the talent on his team, or his coaching ability. All I pointed out was that when his guys made a big play, he was there to celebrate with them. How is that a bad thing? Even when his team got stopped on fourth and goal, he was telling them it's alright, we'll come back. He keeps his players emotionally positive.

In your profession, wouldn't you like co-workers and especially the higher-ups (managers/executives) to tell you you're doing a good job? I don't know what you do for a living but let's hypothesize for a moment. Let's see, you talk down to people, get easily agitated and have no sense of humor. So, ok, let's say you work at the DMV. You've almost wrapped up a long day of telling people to shut up and to "go wait OVAH THERE!" until their numbers are called. Someone complains to you they've been ignored for hours; that the waiting area is stuffy, smelly, full of noisy kids and that even the pilgrims on the Mayflower didn't have it as bad. You say, "Ask me if I care" and the manager, upon overhearing your rudeness, holds his thumbs up and says, "In all my years I haven't seen a government worker quite as rude as you. Heckuva job, Willy!" Now, wouldn't the praise make you feel better and more confident in your abilities?

Oh and I'm flattered that you seek out my posts on Biggs' blog. Can't get enough of me huh? Let me finish by asking, do you also use the newspaper to relieve yourself? That's a bad William, bad!

My assessment of Tomlin was to convey that his team was formerly coached by Cowher who gets so much praise for being a great coach. It was meant to show that both had great players. I can care less about their won/loss records. When Tomlin wins a Super Bowl like Cowher did then I will be impressed with his frat boy type of coaching. And I didn't follow you to Bigg's blog. I was there when you started the silly water-cress nonsense and have been in both places for a while. I read but don't contribute as much as I used to because people are too narrow-minded. And Mark if you are Anonymous from Dec. 8th 5:33 PM I am inclined to agree with you. With the Benson pick we could've gotten something we needed back then. I can still see getting Forte this year to be Jone's eventual replacement. All and all Benson was the wasted pick that I never really liked. I tried but I never was a fan of the guy.
