The Bears have to be one of the worst teams in the league at short-yardage offense.
Rookie fullback Jason Davis got the call on third and goal late in the second quarter. That is tough to explain. He got stuffed, and Matt Forte was stopped on fourth.
The next play was a 99-yard pass play to Bernard Berrian for a TD.
Jason Davis? It's bad enough with a veteran like Jason McKie, but Jason Davis?
I don't blame them for going for it, but Jason Davis???
The Bears still could have pulled it out in the second half, but the 14-point spread was huge.
Everything you said was spot on, I could not agree more...except for one thing...that early in the game up 7-0, kick the field goal and take the points. That was beyond dumb.
LOVE[IE] STINKS.now we have a 4 game season, and were doing good things out there.LOL a half doesnt make a football game LOL.BUT WERE DOING GOOD THINGS.most unconditioned team in pro sports.wordt coaching staff in pro football.BY FAR
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the Bears run the same set of plays a few weeks ago in the same situation (with the same result?)
I just can't understand why the next time they got in the red zone, they ran that sweet play to Forte on the PASS for an easy TD why they didn't try something like that when the game mattered? Horrible play calling however, is only one part of the Bears poor results tonight. Teams like the Bears, Chiefs, Niners, Raiders, etc are proving you can't win the NFL without an NFL quality QB. Orton's picks were not only game changers, but HORRIBLE throws and worse decisions. You cannot win consistently with Orton or Grossman.
It seemed that every run on the goal line stand was up the middle, why not try and bounce it outside, away from the big guys in the middle? That seemed the same on every run (up the middle). One of Forte's better runs was when he went outside.
And I've been thinking that the Bears try and strip the ball on every play instead of just tackling the ballcarrier for two seasons now, which seems why they have trouble tackling. I know that's part of the scheme, but as Maddon also suggested during the game, maybe that's why they have trouble tackling. Takeaways are good, but not at the expense of giving up more yardage.
The Bears have become the Cubs. They show flashes of brilliance, raise fans hopes, and then dash them at critical times. That said, this was a coaching loss - when it was obvious they could not move the middle of the massive Vikings D-line, they stubbornly refused to try anything else. It has to undermine a team's confidence when they are given basically the same play over and over again, knowing that it won't work.
Bears set a record sunday nite, longest viking touchdown play in team history. Of course to set the record the bears had to leave the ball on the half yard line for the vikings. Turner isn't just stubborn, he wants to show up his critics by running that full back play like he's done before. No wonder Turner could't make it as a head coach, if you care more about what people are saying about you than you do in correcting your mistakes you will wind up repeating them and proving your critics right. Lovie does this too, makes me wonder if he will ever become a good head coach.
Getting stuffed on offense, then getting torched on defense, by the wide receiver you let walk, is about as humiliating as it gets but do you think any of the bears coaches or gm will care? Not when they can make excuses and keep their jobs.
Bears coaching staff, how about a play-fake every once in a while. This staff is too freakin' predictable. We are not an upper-class team by any stretch of the imagination. Even if they make the playoffs, it's one and done. This sucks!!!!
An open letter to Lovie Smith..
Dearest Lovie-
A season in the NFL is 16 games. NOT 6.
Maybe if you set your mind to a 16 game season,
you would be in a better position. MAYBE.
You are paid (overpaid for the record) for 16 games. Not 6.
Lovie-- you are a master of spin. Please resign and take
your henchmen with you and go back to wherever you came from.
Love,
Duped Bears Fan, No. 45,768,465,389
how much worse can things get before some of the coaching staff gets their walking papers. Surely Lovis isn't that stupid. Play calling on both sides of the ball were horrible. Again the defense couldn't stop anybody and made gus frerotte look like a good QB, Fire BFF BABICH NOW. I am a huge fan of KO but that was a horrible inexcusible perofrmance, but I don't think we should put all the blame on him yet, underline yet, the play calling was as bad as the defense and did devin hester realize that the ball may be thrown to him in this game because he nevere seemed to be in the game and balls were bouncing off him all night. The same with Rashied Davis. How many balls do u have to drop before you start saying to urself, man I need to start playing better. Oh well, there is always next year, hopefully with new coaches.
Again we see Lovie Smith's coaching decisions rival something Bae Gibron would have done! The play calling was horrible. And Charles Tillman should quit thinking and start staying with his man. What an embarrassing defeat! The Bears don't deserve to win anything.
Horrible play calling combined with a bad decision--I think--to not take the three points. There are times when you go for it, but I don't think there even though I often would go for it. Why? It's because up until that point your defense was playing well. You take the points there and maintain your upper standing in the game. Don't give your opponent ample reason to beat you and/or your own team, especially your defense, reason to play shell shocked.
Regarding Kyle Orton not being the answer? NO! Let's stand by the guy please! He had a bad game. Good quarterbacks do have bad games. At any rate, the guy needs wide outs desperately. Hester makes so many mistakes out there in spite of that TD. They lack so much at receiver. Give him "go to" guys! Orton has the makeup of a sound, consistent decision-maker. I believe the three picks--while his fault--were also products of a manhandled O-line and route running.
To quote the General in Top Gun, when he was scolding Jester for whoever did the fly bye..
"I want some butts"
basically....
someone needs to lose a job over our 3rd down failed conversion situation.
This is the 4th game I can think of, where we had a 3rd and GAME situation and we called for the FullBack Plunge!!!!
This is so sickening.
Our offense reminds me of something out of the 40's.
No creativity, no mixing up the play calls, we never get into a passing rythem. We never hit the slant, the screen pass, we never run outside the tackles, we never do anything that the defense is loading up against.
UGGGGG
I told my 20hr old son last night, when he and I were watching his first Bears game ever, that he is officially a PIT VIPER and that this is our path, and to GET USED TO IT.
Good call, Roman. That is the EXACT point at which I yelled at the TV screen last night. I was so pissed off that I got up and paced the kitchen. Maybe I should chill out, LOL, but I'm sure most fans can identify with me.
Lovie. It is a crying shame how woefully overmatched Lovie is week in and week out. Seeing him on the sidelines is starting to give me a queasy feeling in my stomach every week. The only teams we can beat are those teams that EVERYBODY should beat. I just knew that the Bears would find a way to screw this one up. Calling on an untested rookie fullback at the goal line??? Come on now, Lovie and Ron, are you thinking? Creativity much? The smartest thing Lovie did all night was challenge for a touchback, which was a plain-as-day worthy challenge.
We also can't get too caught up blaming Tillman for that horsecollar. Look, in the heat of the game when you are frustrated and getting burned, you sometimes don't think and are absolutely caught up in the mentality that you need to bring your guy down however you can. Sometimes, these calls don't get caught. Now I'm not excusing Peanut for his mental error, but there are going to be those types of happenstances. It should not have been the deciding factor in the game. This loss is on the TEAM as a whole.
WHEN DID DUSTY BAKER INVADE LOVIE SMITHS BRAIN......HOW DID WE MISS THAT EXCHANGE ? OR ARE THEY ONE IN THE SAME? LORD HELP US.
Pathetic! Pathetic! Pathetic! Play-calling was really ridiculous on offense, but that was not the only problem. After my putting down Urlacher lately, he turned things around and looked good in this game. Hutchison handled him easily on a couple of blocks, but Hutchison handles almost everybody pretty easily. One thing that really amazes me is that Orton smelled up the place, and yet no one apparently noticed. If Rex had thrown three interceptions in seven passes, that would have been the central lead line in all the Chicago sportswriters' columns.Must be nice to be Orton these days, not held accountable for any wrong and forgiven instantly for stupid play. would it have made sense to put Rex in after interception number three, hoping for a spark? I'm surprised there were not calls for a big Orton contract because he finally hit Hester for a long gain.
When the fish stinks, it rots from the head. When will the Bears fiqure this out. Get rid of Lovie, the offensive Guru Turner, and Babich. How about Bill Cowher and his staff. Oh yea, I forgot, We are talking about the McCaskeys - they may have to pay him !!!!
Again, I really don't understand the angst here...maybe this will reduce the Sunday anxiety
- the O line sucks as a run blocking unit. there are no more holes than last year; only difference is they now have someone who can dart through the occasional hole. how many times do u need to see Kreutz pushed back 3 yards on short yardage?
- receivers are by far the worst in the league...nuff said
- D seems like they're not quite sure which D to play; BAD matchups esp. for Hillenmeyer who's a slow saftely disguised as a LB
- coaching is pathetic as are most of the draft picks over the past 4 years
- finally, did anyone else notice 2 plays with Urlacher in a 3 play span in the 3Q? on the first he tried blitzing and ran RIGHT AT THE RG instead of trying to squeeze through the gap; 2 plays later on the TD run by Taylor, it was if he tried holding on to the O lineman who
Lovie is a horrible coach and Turner sucked at Illinois and is still sucking. Here is the problem folks. Everybody complains about these coaches, but on Sunday afternoon you all flock to the stadium to spend all your hard earned money to be a part of this fiasco. I have a funny feeling that if the next home game had more empty seats than full ones, maybe just maybe the front office may get the hint. Believe me the fans have a lot of power and say so when it comes to things of this nature, but filling the owners pockets with money every weekend probably isn't going to make a very loud statement. Think about it.
It's fourth and goal. You are in hostile territory vs one of the leagues best run defenses. Not to mention, a chance at the sole ownership of the division. You have the ability to go up by one touchdown. Hmmmm, lets go for it. What could they have possibly seen on tape or in the course of the game that would lead them to believe this is a smart decision? STUPID!!! Of course if they would have made it we would be talking about something else, but the risk/reward is a no-brainer. Help, I am surrounded by Vike fans. I'm so depressed. The coach is suppose to put his players in a situation where they can win. I'm done.
Lovie should have taken those 3 points on the road. But no play action on the goal line is what did that stance in. And then the momentum swung. Within a NY Minute the Lions had captured the lead and the spotlight. ANOTHER Ex-BEAR burned us. Say what you want, but its been a big factor. And RIGHT before the half which is always crucial. Lovie looked dumbfounded on the sidelines and rightfully so. Bad decision. Which caused the Bears to hang their heads long enough to get surprised and burned. And even with all of that...we still had a chance to win.
That game would have thrust us into the next echelon of the NFL. But right now, we are nothing more than a flash in the pan of mediocrisy. Lovie has to get rid of Turner and Babich. Those are the two problem makers. All and I mean ALL of our ex-Bear offensive players are proving that they can indeed PLAY. From Thomas to Berrian. Its our system and that falls on Turner. Defense has always been a staple of the Chicago Bears. Babich has made Rivera look like Lombardi! We are still a little banged up, but I am convinced that a lot of this is coaching. We have the players. Lovie should have gone for the 4th and 1 that happened much earlier in the game. He should have taken that 3 points before the half. Turned out to be a 10 point swing. Even with all of that...Bears are still in good enough shape to bounce back.
Folks, I have said the following since the Bears went to the Super Bowl and I have been right to a tea.
1) Letting Ron Rivera walk was the dunbest Bear move in a long time. Babich is a mental midget who has no clue what scheme to run.
2) Grossman is a bad QB and Orton and Average QB, but, with Ron Turner as offensive coordinator, Peyton Manning would look pedestrian.
3) Lovie Smith, is NOT a head coach. He doesn't having the mental capacity to make the right decision at crucial times and also does not have the moxy to admit when his coaches are more clueless than he is.
4) Finally, upper management who have shown their decision making abilities are pitiful at best. Forte not withstanding, their drafts are terible, their decisions to pay defensive players big money to do nothing, and their inability to bring in any receiving help says it all about their ability or knowledge of pro football.
There is always Next Year. UGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Face it we are done. It's still possible to go to the playoffs, but is it worth it with this team?
Turner fell asleep after Hester's TD. His play calling was very predictable. Why didn't we keep going to Hester then afterwards mix things up? I know Hester would have dropped more than half the passes, but it would have kept Vikings thinking about that TD play.
Any team that can't get 1 yard on 4 plays (more than 2 times a season) should not belong to the NFL. Hey Turner ever hear of a QB seak up the middle?
D was good and Babich can't be blamed here. With offense going 3 and out that many times defense will get tired especially with AP running all over them. Basically after the 99 yard TD Vikings used our game plan for their D and we kind of backed off.
Lovie please show some emotion on the sideline. Don't just look like you just crapped in your pants. Any coach would have let Peanut have it for the 99 yards TD, but Love sat back an thought "oh crap".
Can we atleast start seeing Hess, Ball or Benett now? Davis won't be anything more than a slot receiver. Lloyd and Jones are probably kicking themselves for signing with this team.
Anyhow.... GO BEARS!
Yeah, the goaline debacle was tough to watch, but even tougher to watch was the fact that the Bears did not seem mentally ready to play this game.
All the dropped balls.
The blown coverages.
The inability to gain one yard.
It is very difficult to execute a successful goaline run at the Rollerdome in Minnesota. The line can barely hear the call. To be successful, you have to have the entire o-line firing off the ball simultaneously. That's difficult to do when they can't hear the count. It showed. Again and again. Plus, why continue to run at the Williams boys on the goaline when you could rarely block them the rest of the game.
To top it off, I don't understand Turner's obsession with running the offense through Hester. He still is learning how to be a receiver and has yet to make a play in traffic. On his TD catch, he was never touched. But most receivers make that play. However, the real "players" make the tough catches in traffic. Hester couldn't. On that one pick in which the linebacker ran it back to the Bears' 22, Hester was the target, but faded away from where he finished his button hook. Orton threw the ball to the right, but Hester faded to the left. Most receivers try to move away from coverage, while it looked on that play that Hester moved into it.
This smells of Lovie and Angelo playing "pets" again.
Yes, it wasn't Orton's best outing, but he sure wasn't helped by his receivers. He also made a number of poor choices -- usually throwing to his wide outs instead of his tight ends.
Okay, glad to be out of Minnesota. We never seem to play well there.
Now, we need to go 4-0 in Lovie's 4 game season.
Nothing new here.
I knew that when they gave up that 99-yard TD after the coma like play calling on the goal line that this would be their defining moment for the 2008 season.
It is really just the Lovie Smith era in a nutshell.
Another game filled with dumb decisions followed by confused looks on the sideline.
Another missed opportunity followed by yet another breakdown in the defense.
Another huge shift in momentum that the Bears never seem to get back. Ever.
Another chance to take control of your own destiny in the division only to puke up another abomination effort.
Another bland, mumbling press conference to spin it away while acting as if none of us knows any better.
Another game plan of “Play not to lose” instead of trying to put your foot on their throats when you have a small lead.
Another missed opportunity to see what your draft pick (Bennett) can do while your current receivers are a complete joke.
Another case of “Stop doing what is working for no damn reason” and out smarting yourself.
Another mediocre season with no playoffs and a mid round draft pick to show for it.
If Lovie says that it is now down to a 4 game season then he needs to be beaten with his blank clipboard.
I am now assuming that Lovie's headset is not actually on and he is just wearing it to keep his ears warm. How else to explain that with control of the NFC North on the line he doesn't over-rule Turner and take the field goal on the road, allowing the Bears to go up 10-0 in the first half and keep momentum. Instead, its a 10 point swing to the Vikings. He lost the game and the playoffs then and there. Even John Madden knows you don't take points off the board in that situation.
If you want something to take your mind off of a soon to be 3rd place Bears team, check on espn who has the replay of one of the most RIDCULOUS cross overs by Rose last night....
Andre Miller is a nice guard and he is still looking for his ankles
Look, the biggest issue here is that the offense has no flow or character. Turner has sucked as a coach since the start of his career, how he continues to be employed in the NFL is amazing.
The players let down after that stupid goal line offense, because they felt let down by the coaches.
While this team lacks talent, good coaching could make it better.
The player choices suck. Roach stinks, urlacher has to be moved out of the middle and Payne stinks. Anderson should be split wide as a blitzing linebacker or cut.
On offense you have a running back that can find a hole on runs to the left. Do it until it iit is stopped. And hey throw a screen just once with the Vikings coming all out. If Allen is beating St. Clair like a drum anticipate the tendency and use it. Throw a chip block at the guy to cut off his outside rush.
This is not rocket science but it does take coaches who are capable of more than repeating Bull Durham cliches. I think Babich has lost this defense and Turner the offense. Both should go.
And Orton under pressure looked every bit as horiible as Rex.
My sons peewee team called plays better than the Bears. It is time for Boobich and Lowvie to go. Bears D stinks, we could put in Dick Butkis at his age and he could show up the million dollar Defensive nothings!!! How pitiful. Always take the 3 pts on the road.
If it was Orton passing to Berrian on the 99 yarder, he would've overthrown him.
JP - Couldn't say it better,
Turner/Babich must go asap. Everyone in the Stadium knew we were running up the middle several times on several occasions not just the goal line. Yes Tommy - I saw Url run RIGHT at the freakin Guard! He was trying to take him out for the next D man to get through but URL coulda got through if he tried cause the OG did not come at him at all, OG just stood there and waited on URL to come to him!! Incredible!!
And who ever said URL played a good game? I saw URL get blocked out of the play over and over.
You could say hindsight but all of us were thinking these same thoughts as we saw the plays unfold! and we don't get paid to Coach guys.
Bottom Line:
Turner/Babich must go now!
Lovie/JA next year if no improvement
Lovie/JA this year as they hired these bums
If we don't attend the LOSER BEAR GAMES then McCaskey's might get the message - no wins = no popcorn sales!
We had the game under control untill the terrible play calls at the Goal Line
oh you poor bears fans , thats some funny stuff
you have to know , after our boy benny bitch slapped your dback
and the bears wpund up on the 1 yard line . all we wanted was
four trys up the middle DUH . I like it when dumb coaches play to our strengths . Oh well Vikes peaking and Bears crashing .
Its a beautiful Monday in MINNESOTA !!
PS..way to go PANTHERS
Roman responds: Usually I let grammatical errors go, but "trys" ?????
vikesspankbears, you guys have a good team with a lot of great players. I mean, with all that talent, you should easily make a playoff run just like last year.
Oh wait, nevermind.
And I'm glad your Monday is so bright, because the Vikes' remaining schedule involves the Giants, Cards, and Falcons. Should I throw in the Lions too? They did only lose to you by two points the last time. Keep in mind of course that a pair of defensive tackles, tweedle-dee and tweedle-dum, are facing suspension, and therefore I would cherish your bright Monday if I were you because it doesn't seem like many more will be coming.
P.S. With all the grammatical errors, I see a child that has been left behind. Way, way behind...
Isn't it nice to be so angry with the four plays called and get stuffed at the one yard line, that you just walk away?!
But while in the freaking bathroom you hear your Dear Sweet Mother screaming at her NEW HDTV and almost broke it because on the very next play the Bears get burned for a 99 yard touchdown play.
Back away from the HDTV Mom, back away slowly. Don't throw the last of the Thanksgiving Dinner at the HDTV now! Let go of the remote control! BACK AWAY easily from the HDTV or you will be using the converter box in Feburary '09. And the Chicago Bears will be in hibernation while wondering what is wrong with the New Busted HDTV!!
Big Grin! You had to be there to see it people! The TV made it out safely, I just ain't sure my mother did!! ..grinning..
Lovie is right, if you can't score from the 1 yd. line, you probably don't deserve to win.But tell me Lovie, who is responsable for designing plays that work ????? I'm sick of hearing "you have to give them credit" The Bears are a dead from the neck up franchise. From Jerry Angelo, who "rewards his own players" even though they still have YEARS remaining on they're contracts and is too STUPID to pry away a player in free agency ( B.Berrian ?)Lovie is in WAY over his head and proved it by letting Ron Rivera go so he could bring in his Buddy Bob B. And Ron Turner, Offensive genius ??????
Lovie can't use the Dungy low key above it all excuse. Dungy's teams performed well first and he earned the respect with consistency. The players will stand up for Lovie because he is so easy going, but he is also stubborn and dumb. Dumb for keeping Grossman as a backup for Orton, when Orton should have been the backup for a better QB. Kyle is solid, but when you've been to the Super Bowl and want to return he is not your guy.
Letting Rivera go was more than dumb, and Turner is a loser from the Illini and nothing has changed. The fact that Turner returned this year was another stubborn and dumb move by Lovie who wanted to be comfortable more than effective. Next year I suppose Lovie will hire Ron Zook.
Lovie's defense of the Cover 2 is stubborn and dumb. Logic would dictate that if your players can't execute the Cover 2 either change the scheme or change the players. But no, he stubbornly stumbles ahead into inexcuseable loss after loss.
Its now clear to the entire league the Bears can stop no one in the passing game as Tillman and company have been burned so often the league needs dental records for identification.
Finally, Lovie has done nothing to help Hester adjust to a league that now plays him differently.
I'd rather have Ditka back. ....seriously. And for all the criticsm of meddling Jerry Jones at least he's an owner wants to win and will retain good talent. We have senior management that didn't recognize Urlachers leadership and let Hester float too long before coming up with money he deserved last summer. Good grief.
Mike, you are giving the Minnesota school system wayyyyyyyyy toooooo much credit. Vikespanker was probably top 10 percentile for the whole state his repeated freshman year.
Im not an Obama guy, but at least our senators go on to be presidents, you guys have a wrestler who wears a pink Boa and a coke addict from SNL's worst era as your top elected officials.
Your state produces so little, that if states were NFL players...I would be willing to trade you guys to Canada for Alberta and a province to be named later.
Da Bears have many problems. And they all came to light this game. There's plenty of blame to go around, from the GM, to the coaches and down to the players. You can point the fingers to several different areas of this team and find many faults.
I'll start with the offensive line. They are simply not strong enough to move defensive players off the line. We definitely need younger stronger legs in there. And a better coach to teach better techniques. Olin is done. He has not moved anyone off the ball all year. He and Roberto Garza have been pushed in the backfield on the majority of the run plays. The goal line series was a prime example of this. There is no way a RUNNING TEAM does not get 1 yard on four attempts. I really don't blame the play calling. The offensive line just got manhandled. Did anyone see the pile of White jerseys laying on the field, while their entire defense was smothering our runner. Piss Poor Blocking Techniques and Lack of Strength was the blame for that failure.
Now who do you truly blame for this? The coaches? I don't agree with that. That is a veteran line. Filled with seasoned vets. So do you honestly believe that Luke Butkus is coaching Olin or Tait how to be a better linemen? Hecks no! But they are way past their prime and simply not getting the job done anymore. The coaches have to play the players that they have on the roster. So here I blame the GM for not outfitting this team with better personnel.
A lot of people have been screaming for Babich's head. But is it really all his fault? When Peanut got burned, I saw a good defensive call. And he had good coverage until he peeled off in anticipation of a shorter pass. The players on the field have to make better decisions. All coaches encourage anticipation of a play. And that is how the game is played. It was simply a bad decision on Peanut and really has nothing to do with the scheme or Babich. So what do you do? Bench Peanut? There is no better players on the roster that can replace him. GM is responsible for this.
Also, you have Urlacher out there who shows no desire to make any plays. Why is a 260lb man constantly attempting arm tackles. He actually seems resigned to being blocked. He shows no fight to get off blocks. On blitzes, he don't even try to elude any blockers. He runs right to them. On most plays he's seen standing around the play and not in the middle of the pile as most linebackers are. We know he has speed, but where is it when running backs are turning the corner. But I don't hear anyone yelling for him to be benched. It's all Babich fault, right? And if he is benched, then who do you replace him with?
And to all the people that are complaing of the Cover-2 defense needs to slow down on that. It's been reported several times that they only run that defense about a third of the time, if that. And the problem is not with the scheme, it's strictly the personnel. The Cover-2 is a zone defense, Yes! But the defenders must cover the offensive players that enter their zone. And that is not happening. I see our defenders all dropping back watching the QB and not seeing the man entering their zone. That is why we see so many plays where the reciever is standing there without anyone within 5 yards of them. Plus our corners play entirely too soft. That is why quick slants and curl routes are so easy to complete against our defense. That and the fact that we gets no push up the middle from our DT's is the reason for the poor defense. Now that there is on the coaches as well as the players.
Didn't mean to be so long winded, just venting. Like I said, there is plenty of blame to go around in all areas of this team. But to single out one particular person and not the other is simply not right. But we all agree that some changes need to be made. I'm just not really sure where.
Changes that could be made to better this team.
First and foremost, Put Chris Williams in the game. Line him up and let him play. I believe the stat was 2 sacks given up his whole college career? Maybe? Put him in and move St. Clair inside. But not to Beekman's spot. I'd move him to Garza's spot. And as soon as possible, find replacements for Tait and Olin.
Second, I'd insert Kevin Jones in at fullback. He's definitely big enough, and would add another dimension to the offense. When I see those handoffs up the middle to Mckie or Davis makes me sick. He can also catch out of the backfield. So instead of throwing to a slow Mckie on play action plays, you can hit a quicker Jones.
Third, start playing Bennet and Rideau more. We have 2 WR's that aren't true WR. Both Davis and Hester were corners coming into the league, and didn't play WR much in college. Bennett broke records in college for a reason. Let him play.
And as soon as we find another corner to go with Graham, I'd move Peanut to safety. I haven't given up on Brown yet. And Peanut can play alongside of him. He's a hell of a talent and not afraid to make contact. Plus he has range. Did everyone see him track down AP?
Motivate Urlacher or replace him.
Find a Lance Briggs type player to replace Hunter. He a good player, but he has lost a step.
Continue to play Marcus Harrison. He and Adams gave more push than Harris and the others did all year.
And for petes sake, stop moving Olsen out wide when the defense is playing Dime or Nickel defenses. That only works when he is matched up with a LB. We should be pounding that Dime or Nickel to death with our two TE sets.
Which leads me to the next one. Find another play caller. If they don't fire Turner, then at least add an assistant or adviser. His offense if too predictable with lil creativity. A coach is supposed to see what is happening on the field and exploit that to our advantage. Turner does not do that.
Roman, Mike and especially Culzie - nice shred of the Minnesota guy. Wonder if he misses KG?
Tommy - Great Post! Find the silver linning. A Rose is blooming in the winter!
Reggie, thanks for taking the mantle of the voice of reason. If all those bad plays can be blamed on coaching alone then I would say we are being unreasonable. If there was an easy way to turn a franchise around or a blue print to do that I'd like to see it. It would go on Ebay for a couple million dollars.
