White Sox fans-- does your team have a chance?

| | Comments (20)

BY RICKY O'DONNELL

South Side Sox reminded us after the Twins series that the White Sox still control their own destiny. If they can match the Twins' number of victories in each team's final series, and then beat Freddy Garcia and the Tigers, they would force a play-in game at home against Minnesota.

But if the Sox had dreams of winning the AL Central even after the disaster in the Metrodome, they blew a huge opportunity last night.

It begs the question, does anyone think the Sox have a chance?

No they don't have a chance, they are all heartless except when they deposit their checks. I for one can't wait until the team is dismantled. I am tired of seeing this club, about 80% of them can go in the offseason.

It's in the stars.

Certain players have got to go.The ones that don't move the runner over or the ones that step out of the batters box and take 5 minites for a bat and then hit into a double play or strike out. These people know who they are.

Certainly the Sox have a chance to win the AL Central but it will be meaningless because the way they are playing they don't have a chance against any of the other AL playoff teams. They simply can't put a strong hitting and pitching effort together at the same time and are really a sub-500 team. They overachieved this year and need a real house-cleaning if they want to succeed the next few years in the AL Central.

True the sox had a very bad road trip ater leaving the angels, but you mean to tell me that with all this talent on the team they cant't put a win streak together? They sure know how to put a losing streak together. After tonight's game against the indians that'll be five loses in a row. This so called curse of the metrodome is a bunch of crap and garbage, all they need to do is admit the truth that they are scared of minnesota and that they dont't care anymore. They remind me of the bulls last season, just waiting for the season to be over. "Have a chance I say no had a chance yes. It was also wrong for ozzie to call out Vasquez the way he did but you have to admit that he and the starting rotation along with that good for nothing bullpen are burned out, tired and discussing. Octavio Dotell is a bum and would never pitch again if I were the manager. Literally speaking I love them dearly but the SOX ARE DONE!!!!

As long as Kansas City says YYYYESSSSSS!

No they won't. They have no heart...and they DO NOT play as a team. It all starts with Ozzie and major changes need to be made. Cabrera, Thome, and Griffey all need to go, not to mention Javier and the whole bullpen with the exception of Jenks.

Okay sox fans these retards we cheer for blew it again count number five in a row. This team forgot how to hit and definitely do not know how to pitch. Kenny and Ozzie should spend the entire off season figuring out who to let go and who to keep. I for one would like to see dotel, linebrink, logan, contreras get pushed into the red sea. I'm totally dissapointed in this team. This team gives up too much on themselves and us the fans. They are heartless and gutless. Every year they have an excuse. I wonder what the excuse is going to be this time.

Its hard to see it right now....But I see the future.

The White Sox will get into the playoffs. They will have a hot streak that takes them to the World Series. They will face the Cubs & it will be an all Chicago World Series. The Cubs will win the world series in 7 games. Chastise me or ridicule me, it happens. I saw it.

No.
This team has to make a lot of changes during the off season. They have a collection of older players who can go and now is the time. They traded Garland for one season of Cabrera? Garland is only 29 and that did not work out at all. He is a free agent by the way and Contreras is done. Why not see if you can bring him back?

Keep Ramirez, Quentin, Pierzynski, Floyd, Danks, Jenks, Buehrle and maybe Anderson and blow up the rest.
Dye is signed through 2009 and may be worth keeping for one more year unless you can get a good young player from a team that is one guy away.

There are very few free agents available that are not already in their mid-thirties and I don't see Kenny winning a bidding war over C.C. Sabathia.
I say they should sign Adam Dunn who is 29, can play LF, 1B and DH and can do what Thome and Konerko are doing (or used to do anyway)
I would also sign Mark Teixeira is also 29 and would immediately become the Sox best hitter. The money that they save on guys like Thome, Griffey, Konerko, Contreas, Crede (too bad about his back) and Cabrera is more than enough to pay for these two.
Stop acting like a small market team!

I would like to see Ozzie out the door as well.
The way they have finished this season tells you a lot about the manager and his act has played out here.

Hey white sox fans. Remember two years ago when ur a--hole manager gave us the choke sign in the last series of the year that eliminated us? Couldn't happen to a bigger loser!!!!!! signed-cleveland fans everywhere.

Hey chicago fans!! remember two years ago when you came and swept us the last three games of the season? Your a--hole manager gave the choke sign for all to see in the dugout. Who's choking now ozzie?!! SIGNED-CLEVELAND FANS EVERYWHERE.

I KEEP WAKING UP FROM BAD DREAMS OF THE 1919 BLACK SOX

'do they have a chance'? how about 'do they deserve another chance'? they ahve had their chances for the past week and a half, and they folded each and every time they could have put it away. these guys don't deserve to be where they are - they deserve to suffer an embarasing collapse. maybe in the future people won't be talking about the 1969 cubs as much as the 2008 sox. this teams disgusts and infuriates me. and it's been amde 1,000 times worse by the fact that the cubs will likely win the NL penant. we coulda been there too, but these guys blew it, big time.

thank god [and rock wirtz and john mcdonough] it's hockey season.

I am a true Sox fan, but this is the worst team I have seen thus far. No heart. They are not going anywhere with that bunch of misfits in the bullpen, less with their starting pitchers. They should just pack up their bags today, including Ozzie, and take a slow boat to China and hopefully never come back.

PS: The Cubs will blow it in the finals. You first heard it hear.

Does this Sox team have a chance?

Not if the Great and Powerful Bryan Bullington of Mokena pitches a no-hitter.

I was at the games both Friday and Saturday. My observations:

-- Eric Wedge is happily exacting revenge for what we did to him at Jacobs Field in '05. And he's saying "---- YOU" at the same time. Who says men can't multi-task?

-- I don't get Ozzie.

-- Sox fans are every bit as intense, loyal, fiesty, and tenacious as fans from other "nations" that get a lot more attention. And we don't need a dome to make a lot of noise.

--I have never heard anything like the roar that went up when the "F" appeared the scoreboard next to "KC 4 MIN 2". Kenny and Jerry, I hope you stopped kissing your own asses long enough to appreciate our loyalty. You don't deserve it.

--Dye and Konerko are still clutch.

--Where is Junior hiding?

--A tiny part of me would almost welcome the end today. My heart can't take much more of this.

What's ironic is that all this losing better's their odds vs Tampa.

If you could only bet on the Royals or Indians today, who would you pick? The Royals have won 19 of their last 30 & 17 in Sept.

I definitely believe a team coming off a win has the momentum when a series opens. They'll definitely have that facing the Twins & the Rays. I do think they'll win today to get that opportunity.

On a more current topic:

How hard is it going to be to root for the Bucs today against the Packers?

Talk about a no win situation for Bears fans.

Let me down like an elevator on the top floor.
Ice cold bats. And mediocre pitching.
They still have a heartbeat - but its full of coolaide.

I have on my black today to rally my boyz! They have met the challenge and should be able to close the show at the Cell! Sox showed their hearts yesterday. I still feel like choking Carlos Quinton!
