Great day at Wrigley

| | Comments (3)

That's about as much fun as I've had at a sporting event since I became a sports writer many, many years ago.

The only thing I can compare it to is when I used to stand in the second balcony of the Chicago Stadium, sometimes three deep, and cheer on the Hawks.

Saturday at Wrigley was electric. Every pitch meant something.

We all were watching the scoreboard, too, and every time they took the panel off during the Milwaukee-Cincinnati game, the crowd held its breath (even though they show the score on a side scoreboard, most people waited for the big board).

When the Cards made it 5-4 with a three-run home run, it just made things more exciting.

When Kerry Wood walked the first batter in the ninth, the excitement just grew.

Great stuff, and it was great to see the players run on the field well after the game was over to spray fans with champagne.

Nobody wanted to leave. They kept playing "Go Cubs Go" and other sings over and over.

Great memory.

Can't wait for the White Sox to follow suit.

The Sox wouldnt follow suit, they would follow ...coveralls!

Sweet video dude. Captured the moment really well. I can't decide if my favorite part was the moment of the clinch, when it looked like an earthquake (cheers to the camera operator), or when the kid says "Hey Dad, can I go down there?" Great stuff.

If the NL ends up Cubs, Mets, Phils, and Dodgers, how does the first round break down? Or are the match-ups still unknown until the records are in the books. I am hoping the ole Cubs are out here a couple of times this October.

GO CUBS!

I am Anonymous? Coldblooded.
