Is a heated rivalry with the KANSAS CITY ROYALS really what Ozzie Guillen should be focusing on while the Twins take over first place?
Yes, it was Bush League for KC to bunt for a hit with a 6-0 lead, but throwing at a guy's head? Ok, maybe he wasn't doing it on purpose, but that's where it went.
Olivo should have rushed the mound, even though he didn't exactly finish the job, kind of backing off at the end and going into a boxing stance while AJ grabbed him.
But what was Ozzie talking about? First he says Carrasco wasn't throwing at him and then he says the war is on and they're going to get KC back. For what? Rushing the mound? What would Ozzie have done if he get buzzed on consecutive pitches?
I'm still an Ozzie fan, but a lot of his antics were excused earlier this season because the Sox were in first and people said that reflected the fact he was perfect for the team. He may be perfect for this team anyway, but he's no longer in first.
That could change and the Sox still could win the Division, but there are more important things to worry about than the Kansas City Royals.
Having said all that, I know Ozzie said those things right after a tough game, still in the heat of the battle, but still, keep your eye on the goal.

Ozzie has a team of emotionless zombies. They will never admit to how much Rowand meant to them in the clubhouse, but it was obviously huge. Ken Williams should have been looking for a no-nonsense, hard nose, I'll get in your face, everyday player, but instead got yet another ho-hum, gosh darnit player.
Ozzie wrongly thinks he can create the spark, but a manager can't. Not unless he is willing to take on the biggest name and most glaring underachiever in the clubhouse or dugout. Until he calls out Konerko and probably Swisher, too, nothing is going to change.
Status quo for Ozzie.
I just hope them frickin' aliens bring our pitching staff back. That intergalactic series was supposed to last only ten days?
Or was it "ten days to get there"?
Our upcoming home series, coupled with the Twins road marathon will prove to be the difference. Whoever comes out ahead will be the frontrunner, no doubt.
I was nothing but hurt for my boys this weekend. VERY disappointing. I just thank God we have enough games left to make a turnaround. I think the Sox will turn the corner and get back into first place, but it wont be easy.
Ozzie knows baseball and the unspoken rules of the game. He takes no shorts from noone and I like it that way. We will probably fizzle out in the post season, but you better believe Kenny is coming hard in the offseason.
I agree with everything Seedy said above.
Oh who cares?!?!?!? Did you guys see Brett Favre's plane land in majestic Green Bay? Wasn't that SO EXCITING? I've never been so freakin' captivated by anything in my life! His wife was with him too and it was raining - raining! - when they deplaned. And no one gave them an umbrella - what's up with that? Then, just as Favre - THE MAN - himself was putting his luggage in the back of a maroon Escalade, the trunk darn near hit him right in the forehead. Don't worry, the catastrophe was averted when he ducked slightly to the left. If you missed this exciting television event, no doubt comparing in ratings only to the M.A.S.H. finale, you must see it, and surely you will. In fact, don't even bother trying to avoid it, you won't be able to. Be sure to tune in to the early evening news for the results of his physical, which is to be performed this very afternoon. On tap Tuesday: trade talks with Minnesota resume and Bears fans everywhere can go back to wallowing in our own quarterback quicksand.
I hate when I forget to put my name on my rants! See above re: Mr. Favre.
I agree with everything in your post but this, Roman:
"Yes, it was Bush League for KC to bunt for a hit with a 6-0 lead,"
Um, why was it "Bush League," exactly? It was the *fifth* inning. The Sox nearly erased a six-run lead the day before, and won two games after trailing by five in KC during their last trip.
Were the Sox going to try and stop scoring for the rest of the afternoon? If not, why in the heck should KC quit trying to score?
Baseball's "unwritten rules": where so-called tough guys turn into whiny little babies.
Lets see: Gardy gets thrown, fined and suspended for coming out and protesting a blown call on hit by pitch.
Ozzie gets an apology for a known hit.
Could you tell Cowley the pitching HASN'T returned to Earth and that's the problem?
Don Guillioni?
* I wouldnt be surprised if he had a hit list taped to his head board.
The cards fell Ozzie's way. Five KC players received penalties. No Sox players. Only Ozzie was penalized & his team played harder in his abscence.
All this proves again is that Moronitti is a joke of a sports reporter who shouldn't be taken seriously.
The Sox had been a maliase of settling for mediocre play during the losing streak. Then the fight with KC occurs in a one-sided game. The Sox have shown more fire & determination since. The blowout was over-shadowed by Ozzie's suspension.
The great Oz, is the great motivator.
