Role reversal - for a day

| | Comments (2)

Oh, ok, it's just that easy. Anoint Kyle Orton your quarterback and watch the offense roll. Why am I still a little skeptical. And what happened to that defense?

Orton looked really good. He looked confident and comfortable. He made some nice throws, good decisions and no glaring mistakes.

We don't really need to talk about Rex, do we?

But hey, how about that high-priced defense? Some of the worst tackling I've ever seen.

It's true that there are veteran stars in all sports who don't get motivated for the preseason. Is that the case here? Maybe. But it was the third preseason game - the important one, and they weren't playing the top offense in the league.

Think Peyton Manning suddenly feels better and will make sure he's there for the opening game?

Talk about role reversals...(this just solidifies my Jerry Angelo Doomsday clock watch)

Bears face QB who got away in S.F.'s O'Sullivan
Never in Bears' plans, QB O'Sullivan finds 49ers niche

Three days after the Bears picked their man in the quarterback derby, they face the one that got away -- or, more accurately, the one that was told to go away.

J.T. O'Sullivan, twice an ex-Bear, is on the verge of winning the starting job with the San Francisco 49ers. The question worth asking is, what would be worse tonight in the preseason meeting at Soldier Field: a poor showing by Kyle Orton in the big tuneup for the regular season or a triumphant return by O'Sullivan, whom the Bears never seriously considered in two stints here?

I don't think that Peyton is convinced that we have a D that needs a fork stuck in it. Games change to much to have a blue print as that what is going to happen.
