Do you care if Bears were truthful?

| | Comments (7)

Maybe it was because I was on a beat for five years that I never expect teams to be totally honest about injuries, so if the Bears weren't totally honest about Chris Williams, I'm not that surprised.

The bottom line is: Can the kid play?

The injury has made me less skeptical about Angelo's honesty than about his talent evaluation. If this is another first-round bust, it casts a huge shadow over Angelo's legacy.

But we don't know yet if he's a bust. It is safe to say it doesn't look good.

I expect them to hide certain things even when it is not necessary because Jerry and Lovie seem to be a bit paranoid at times. Knowing Angelo's track record on offensive picks then I would guess that he drafted anther bust.

The ever-growing list of his failed choices makes this hard to dispute.

If Rashard Mendenhall learns how to hold on to the football I'll feel much more nautious than I do now.

There are VERY FEW G.M.s who build a team through drafting expertise. It has to be 90% luck judging ones heart and injury future. The key is molding a proper mix to fit the system via draft and free agency and Jerry hasn't done too well. Not sold on Lovie either. He's the Captain whose ships bow will be under water and tell his crew to relax, they'll have it back up in no time. I'm really beginning to wonder? Then again, Babich, Turner, and Angelo are turning heads for the wrong reasons so I'm just gonna bank on a strong veteran team to overcome the architects and build us a winner this year.

I repeat what I said earlier; the two Vanderbilt 'Boys' are soft!

The most interesting aspect of this escapade is the fact that Angelo called a press conference just to clear the air. Hmmmm. Some pretty thin skinned execs and coaches in the Bears front office. Last year it was Turner having a press conference to clear the air about "the drive" against the Eagles. Now Angelo with a press conference to clear the air about "the pick."

Seems to me that a confident, self-assured GM wouldn't have to resort to this kind of "spin control."

Oh, that's right... we're talking about Angelo.

Angelo is on the clock.
Lovie is on the clock.
Turner is on the clock.

And it's three minutes to midnight.

Sleep well Bears leadership. Sleep well.

Excuse me, this isn't just lying about an injury, and it isn't just a bad talent evaluation in a draft pick. This is a FIRST round draft pick for a bad team, you have to take a player who can step in and start immediately, period. Doesn't matter why the player can't play, previous injury or lack of talent, if he doesn't play it is a wasted FIRST round pick. Even if he plays later in the year or next year, as a first rounder he has to be a starter from day one.

This is a BLOWN DRAFT PICK. The bears are trying every squirming, hair splitting, weasel way they can to make excuses for the fact that they picked a player number one that everyone knew had a bad back. Oh, and they wanted him to start at left tackle for their bad offensive line.

If this was a fifth round pick, then ok, maybe you take a chance, but this was a first rounder who you gave millions of dollars to start for you, not to go on ir and have surgery on an injury you let linger in college for 3 years. You'd think after just writing off the huge signing bonus they gave benson, and letting him walk without having to pay any of it back, you'd think the bears would have been a little more careful who they were doling out the dollars to.

Bears now have given benson his retirement plan, and williams his major medical coverage. Angelo needs to go into another business, maybe he could give away fringe benefits to players.

I really hope we arent pinning our hopes to the Groin of a rookie linemen?

Well at least Brown is healthy and back to his old burnable self.

In Forte' We Trust!

I think im putting a fresh coat of #22 on the bandwagon and everyone is invited to jump on.

...And 3 mins to midnight is probably being generous Seedy, since we are like 5 mins to midnight on the nuclear armagedon clock, that may be too much breathing room for managment. At least as of now, we are undefeated.

I don't know how funny he is everywhere else, but in the draft room Angelo is absolutely hillarious.

I agree with tonto. This is a high pick not playing on a bad team. Didn't the scouts say he was "soft" going into the draft? Angelo has been a failure as a gm.
