I think so, even though the Cards keep hanging around and Milwaukee seems to be waking up.
The Cubs are a deep, talented team, and they can make the playoffs without Zambrano. But how far would they go? They wouldn't be the favorite to make the World Series any longer.

As a WSox fan I hope the Chubs can do it because nothing would be sweeter than a WSox sweep of the Chubs in the WS. But like most WSox fans I'm a realist.
The Cards were picked for last. They are currently the NL WC team sitting 3.5 back of the Chubs. They've got $ to burn to improve. They're the team most likely to go on a tear after the break.
I'm thinking WSox vs Cards WS 2008. Just beating the Cards in the WS would be sweet.
With a trade, yes. Without maybe. Marmol concerns me more. Hoping the offense doesn't go into a slump for an extended amount of time is more important.
Dempster is the Real Horse. Of course they can. Cubs are going to the World Series this year, where they will probably meet the Boston Red Sox. Boston controls their destiny though. It all depends on which Boston Team shows up. If the one that is like the Celtics show up…forget about it.

based on his last couple of performances-complete with mental breakdown-,the question is, can they win it WITH him? I think it was established last year that he is no #1, so the Cubs need a consistent #1-which is where Dempster has surprisingly come into the picture.
