Pax to interview Ty Corbin

Ok, Ty Corbin doesn't elicit the type of response that Mike D'Antoni or Avery Johnson would, but I find one thing interesting.

Corbin's considered too inexperience for a head coaching job because he's only in his third year as Jerry Sloan's assistant coach.

Yet Mark Jackson is considered a legit candidate despite never coaching.

I'll take a guy who's been around Sloan for three years than someone who's good on TV. That's not to say Jackson can't be a good coach, or that Corbin is indeed ready, but it's an interesting scale when weighing these candidates.

Well now we're talking, Roman, because I happen to think that Jerry Sloan is one of the best NBA head coaches in any era, period. If he says that Corbin is ready for a big time head coaching gig, then I'll take his word for it, but it remains to be seen if he'll give Ty Corbin that ringing endorsement. TCorb is one of my favorite DePaul players of all time behind the other T.C. (Terry Cummings) though.

But again, at this point, it doesn't matter with this team. We're already back to a rebuilding phase now that we've struck out yet again on trying to hire an experienced guy. We're basically just rolling the dice now with these glorified assistant coach candidates. You know Reinsdorf is itching to hire one of these assistant-types cheap and then if they prove successful, he'll come back and say "I told you so!".

I like your thinking Edgar. The team IS rebuilding despite the fact that we are one year removed from winning 49 games. I'd prefer to optimistic. Still you are only as good as your last game. The Bulls did not win many this year, worse yet they did not show the hustle or poise they showed in earlier years. It is not surprising that none of the name coaches, D'Antoni, Johnson, Carlisle, or Brown jumped at the chance to coach this Bulls team. As I see it this group of malcontents will have to prove themselves all over again with a rookie coach. If that is the case, I would LOVE the coach to be a guy like Corbin who has ties to the golden era of Chicago b-ball.

I'm praying Ty doesn't get the Bull's gig. That way DePaul can hire him after they can Jerry Wainwright's ass following what will be yet another dismal season for DePaul men's basketball.

you mean Tyrone from the Blue Demons? Well, he is ugly. Just like Phil Jackson. Six more titles is what that means. Cartwright wasn't ugly-he just talked ugly. I suppose Albeck was ugly-but I dated his Neice, so the offspring in that family was pretty. I can't imagine Phil Jackson or Tyrone Corbin having pretty offspring. That means titles are on the way. That's how you figure things up here in the north woods.

I don't believe that any particular coach, regardless of previous experience or lack of thereof is the answer.

Red Auerbach couldn't make winners out of the group of three toed sloths, even if Bill Russell (in his prime) was on this team.

Paxon has a huge mess on his hands, considering how promising this group's prospects appeared to be just two years ago.

He's the one who will have to straighten it out; not some rookie assistant, or a re-tread coach.

Please!
If Corbin did not play for DePaul would anyone here take this guy seriously?
Really setting the bar pretty low Pax. Hire a fan favorite from 25 years ago so you can drag out this never ending rebuilding process anther 3 or 4 years. The Bulls are running an NBA team in a major market like a mom & pop candy store.

Corbin is good next to Mark Jackson. Sad sacks! Ty Corbin!! Pax must plan to pay him with fan merchandize or something. Cmon man. REAL Coach please.
