Anybody else looking forward to the Crosstown Classic June 20? That's going to be fun. Joe Cowley had an interesting observation in his story about how this year's Sox are similar to last year's - at least by the numbers.
The info even took Ozzie Guillen by surprise. I didn't remember, but it was at this point last year when the Sox started to nosedive.
That's not going to happen this time. The Sox staff is just too strong. From 1-5, this staff is better than the Cubs' rotation.
The offense has been inconsistent, but you have to think they'll warm up with the weather.
And the Sox aren't getting fat on the Pirates. That's no knock against the Cubs - they play who's on the schedule - but the Sox have fared well against division rivals. And at some point, it's not going to be too early to say the Indians aren't as good as anticipated.
Seven in a row, and no one in the AL has played more road games. The Sox bats should find the warm weather and The Cell to their liking.
Sox have strong consistent pitching and they should have an even better record. Its the ice cold bats. I am so glad Ozzie shook up that lineup. Its jumpstarted us. AL Central is the toughest in baseball PERIOD. First place Sox should enjoy their success because its a loooooooong season. I aint thinking about the Cubs. My mind is on the Twins.
How are your plants growing on your balcony, seems like good weather for greenery. Are there any good museum exhibits in town that we should know about or any good plays, guess its true there really is more to life to sports.
GO WHITE SOX!!
That's really cute of Joe Cowley to point out the records and toss away the underlying factors. When the Sox were 24-20 last year, as Cowley noticed, the Sox had scored 183 runs and allowed 194. This year, as the Sox are 25-20, they have scored 214 runs and allowed 176. Last year's Sox were not playing anywhere near as well as their record indicated. This year's Sox are playing almost exactly like a 25-20 team (actual Pythagorean is 26-19).
Romanator:
It's okay to knock the Cubs. Without those wins against the P-Rats, the Cubs are a .500 team. Fortunately, after getting spanked by those mighty R-Astros, they get to beat up on the Pirates yet again. Could be a tough second half for the Cubbies. Very few games against the Pirates remain on the schedule.
Pythagorean is the reason no one should mess with Noles on baseball! Pythagorean! I needed a protractor in my hand just to say it! That is definitely the pocket protector word of the day!!!
Kotex boy showed his true colors. Cubs lose, WSox take the first 2 from the 2007 ALCS Tribe & he devotes 2 days to .. the Bulls.
Moronitti hurts whatever integrity the Times still has with his spoiled step-child mentality as a sports writer.
I've not thought about the classic yet. I'm too concerned about the upcoming schedule. If they can end May with 30 wins no one can deny the WSox are contenders this year.
Keith Lifetime ConstaWrong,
I'd rather use gigantic nerdy words in every post than spew nonsense and be wrong all the time like you.
Love,
Noles
yeah..how about them....with their level of talent , I hope they are able to ride their lucky streak a litle longer. I noticed the latest power rankings where the Pirates are ranked higher than the Sox, so I hope the Cubs don't look past the White Sox. Just because they are insignificant to Chicago, doesn't mean the Cubs don't have to put up a good showing. No doubt the wagonjumpers will be pushed aside for Cubs fans at both parks again, so the the Cubs should have plenty of support with mostly Cub fans in the seats. Of course, the Sox will probably be sub-500 again when they get the privlege to face the Cubs, and their fans will have 'disappeared' again. But, hey, that is why Jerry had to sell the naming rights to that minor league stadium they play in. They just can't rely on people to pay for tickets as a source of revenue(when was the last time anybody paid for sox tickets anyway??). Gosh, I hope I don't catch any diseases driving through Canaryville to claim my free club seats. Now I have to find my buddy's number, so I can have him ready to tow a Sox fans car out of a good parking spot for me again.
Gooooooooooooooooo CUBBBBBBBBBBBBBBIES
White Sox already have a recent ship, and all of this is anticlimactic. Cubs have a great team and as long as they are in 1st place, they are the story. If the Sox wax their apples in the classic, there will be a lot of sadness in the city. I don't care what anyone else is doing, as long as the Sox keep winning, and especially against the AL Central.
A sweep of the 2007 ALCS Tribe draws Moronitti out today. All you need to see is what's on the front page here. It amounts to a backhanded complimenting. A shake of a hand before a kick in the knee. Don't patronize these sleaze.
Forget 2007, this team draws a strong comparison to the World Champion 2005 team: solid pitching, run saving defense, & just enough offense to win games.
run support: 2008 4.71 vs 2005 4.58
You can say all you want about 'Dollgate', but the Sox actually started playing better when Ozzie changed the line-up. Everybody is now in their deserved spots. Kudos to The Oz for this one. Now, if he can flip the perfect switch when it comes to pitching changes, LOOK OUT CHICAGO.
Ticker Tape anyone?
I am glad the Sox are playing better, we were starting to get a lot of sox fans showing up at our teams games and now hopefully they'll stay in their cell. I'm sure since they are no longer losing all the time and playing with inflatable toys the sox can keep their fans from bothering their rivals team and ballpark. After all its hard for most of them to find their way all the way out to kane county to watch the cougars play.
