Congrats to all Shamrock Shufflers
Congratulations to all who finished the Shamrock Shuffle today. Great day for a race, maybe a bit too cool and damp, but it was a great time. And thanks to my friend Laura for getting me to run my fastest race. It just goes to prove we can all push ourselves beyond the limits we set.
Last year, Laura beat my time in the Shuffle by like four minutes, so I wanted to keep pace with her this year. We ran together for the first three miles then got separated.
I thought I saw her ahead of me going into Mile 4, so I kicked it into gear a bit. Turns out I ran the five miles in 43:03, which beat last year's time by over 3 minutes. And the thing is, Laura ended up finishing a few minutes behind me. I mistook her for someone else .
The race was well-run and everyone seemed to have great time (including after the race) despite the weather. Kudos to organizer Carey Pinkowski, who I hope enjoys a great year with the Marathon. Carey also runs the Chicago Marathon and this was his first big race since last year's heat-aborted race. Carey's done a great job with the marathon and didn't deserve all of the blame from last year, unless he really can control the weather.
And to all of my blog posters, get out there. A buddy of mine has a six-mile race in May. I 'll give you specifics as we get closer. It's for charity, and there will be plenty of beer afterward. I want my blog posters out there. Quit sitting in front of the computer all day ripping Lou Piniella.

Great job, Roman! Pretty impressive for an old guy! I'd definitely love to help out with your friend's race, but I don't run on purpose. I can be useful in many ways though without actually dying for six miles. I'm a great cheerleader and I can pass out beer like a champ at the end. Oh, and I could help the runners stretch out before and after the race. Or anything else that doesn't involve me running, panting and sweating (at least not at the same time), I'm in.
Roman responds: Thanks Jules. It might be the biggest turnout yet.

Good job Roman. That is impressive. Unfortunately I cant even walk that far. I thought this thread was about Shamrock Shakes, now if you get one of those competitions um in.
