I thought Indiana could be a Final Four team before this whole debacle, but you can stick a fork in them now. Eric Gordon is great, but does anyone really see the Hoosiers rallying around their fired coach to make a deep run in the tournament? People always diss Bruce Weber for not being able to land a big-time recruit but you never hear any improper recruiting stories out of Champaign. I would assume Sampson’s dismissal is very satisfying to Illinois.
(By the way, the Illini have two studs coming in for the class of 2010 in Waukegan’s Jereme Richmond and Rich South’s Crandall Head, Luther’s little bro.)
Here’s an interesting name for a replacement at IU next season: Scott Skiles. Apparently some people think it could happen. Skiles is from Indiana, but I can’t see him being interested in a college job, even one as prestigious as this.

Good for Indiana....You are getting what you deserve. All you pius IU fans were heckling Illini fans for your coach STEALING Gordon. How ignorant. Illini fans knew what happened and knew this day will come. Now we are waiting the results of the investigation and the penalties that come with it. Illinois has dominated Indiana for years and the only way they could retaliate was by cheating. Good to see you getting your comeuppance. Deal with it.

Better now than later. Perhaps the importance of the head coach is overrated,and Indiana will go on to win anyway. They certainly have the talent and depth. I doubt if there will be much of a downturn in their performance. They have performed well enough to beat MSU and Purdue, and lost by a lucky shot to Wisconsin ( the same way they won at Illinois ), and that was after everyone knew the NCAA information. Today's game should be interesting. I'm anxious to see who shows up but even more curious to see who doesn't. Were I a betting man, I'd wager that all of them will be there. They could dedicate the game to Sampson, win by twenty-five, and never look back until the end of the NCAA tournament.

Indiana knew who and what they were getting in Sampson. They were hoping he could get the job done and not get caught! They knew there was a risk! I still believe that Gordon would be at Illinois if it weren't for Sampson's illegal, cheating to manipulate his mind to attend Indiana! That was obvious! Hey Indiana, there are good people out there to coach. You don't have to cheat to get good "smart" players. It's the universities fault that this whole thing happened ! They played a little with fire and got burnt!
Indiana never should have hired that bonehead to begin with. All this turbulence has made a Purdue fan out of me, especially with two guys from Valparaiso, which is where I reside, in the starting lineup. And I hope the IU players boycott the game against Northwestern tonight. That will make it easier for Purdue to clinch the Big 10 and secure a favorable seeding in the NCAA tournament.

His hard nosed defensive game, along with his demeanor are better suited to the indentured serfs who play at the college level. They'll have to put up with his attitude, because they have no other choice.
Short, little, control freaks have a hard time dealing with full grown millionaires who are twice their size.
