Roger and out

Anybody looking forward to this hearing? I am, but I'm a trial junkie.

Clemens is going to say he didn't do anything and McNamee will say he did.

The X-factor is Pettitte's affidavit. If reports are true and he says he knows Clemens did juice, I want to see the look on Clemens' face. Isn't that one of the specator sports for these events, trying to determine if someone is lying? The court of public opinion awaits.

I like the comment of ESPN legal analyst Roger Cossack, who said he doesn't like this hearing because it's shaping up as a mini-trial, when in fact it doesn't afford the accused the same rights he would have on trial. Clemens can't cross-examine McNamme or Pettitte.

And it will be interesting to see how soon they launch a perjury investigation. They better do it quickly after what happened with Barry Bonds.

It's good theater.

I am a trial junkie too, to be honest!

I have been watching ESPN, obviously just like the writer, and I am getting sick and tired of Roger Cossack saying this isnt a trial and so forth, because he is a lawyer and everything must be done in a lawyerly way. Well, first of all, the US COngress had subpoena powers and the power ti hold someone in contempt of congress and can be incarcerated. Second, Congress gives baseball an anti trust exemption.
So Roger Cossack can just sit back and take it while congress, while unseamly, does its appointed business.

This guy is a lawyer and cant even point out those most important pieces of the story?

If you close your eyes and listen, the guy reading the opening charge sounds just like Peter Gammons...

which I think lends it all that much more credability....

Roman responds: So you're sitting there, closing your eyes and listening to Henry Waxman. Weird, man. Weird.

This is a perfect opportunity to start building an entire new wing to the HOF in Cooperstown...The Asterisk Wing

I am looking forward to it. Its a win win for me. See if they witch-hunt this guy like they did Bonds - then maybe they will see the error of their ways. Coming after someone for lying - pahlease! Our President should have been in Jail a long time ago.

If they don't - then they look racist. Which THEY ARE. They don't want to come after Clemens. They really don't.

No. I couldn't be sicker of Roger Clemens. It's all that people want to talk about on TV or write baseball articles about. Maybe when this is all said and done, people can talk about baseball again.

This is awesome...Roger is shrinking as we speak in DC.

I WISH he had the chance to x-examine Pettite. It would not go well.

Roger is guilty!!!!!!!!

I have to go to work, I'm thinking about calling off work today to watch some more. These congressmen are my heroes, at least for today.

They are roasting his butt like a turkey!!!!!!!!!

Keith - I think you just broke your record...took only 4 posts to play the race card.

So gentlemen...is the general consensus, then, that Roger's statements are as false as his wife's false--uh--parts?

Anonymous - reveal yourself. You are playing a card yourself - and its called the coward card.

For the record playing the RACECARD only counts when its to your ADVANTAGE. Clemens Lemons my friend. A lot of people like yourself believe that everything in life is even stevens, but folks like me have happen to have a contrary opinion and experience. For instance, I am totally blown away with Obama's position in the democratic race and will not believe it until I see it with my own eyes. Some people believe in America, I DONT.
I find it very hard to believe that Clementine will get indicted. And deep inside...hope that I am wrong.

Whew!!!!! Well it sure is a relief to know that Congress doesn't have anything better to do today. Nothing more pressing in the world that needs attention. Nope, this is it. Deciding the Hall of Fame fate of Roger Clemens. Yeah - this really is great theatre! Riveting! I'm on the edge of my seat!

"I injected you with steroids and your wife too. And I saved the dirty syringes to prove it!"

"No you didn't, you scum bag! You and everyone else is lying - I'm the only one telling the truth here. Why won't anyone believe me? Does my hair look good today?"

It is better than the Hanna Montana/Miley Cyrus Best of Both Worlds 3-D Concert Movie, anyway.

Now I remember you Anonymous. You must be one of the millions-and millions-of banned hot-head bloggers. Know this Jabronie: Know your role and shut your mouth. It would be ironic if the Anonymous hotheads of the blogosphere eventually got the Anonymous name banned from blogs. Blog riots would ensue.

Did anyone see the picute of Roger Clemens in this past Sunday's (2-10-2008)sports section of the crosstown newspaper. I mean did you noticed how huge he looked in contrast to his lawyers? Take a look and see doesn't his head look like its ready to pop off.

I'm not trying to be a judge, but I don't believe Clemons. A guy injects your wife with illegal drugs without your knowledge, she's complaining of circulation problems and you don't..

1. Don't take her to the hospital

2. Don't kick his tail or turn him in to MLB and/or law enforcement.

Unbelieveable.

If they don't - then they look racist. Which THEY ARE. They don't want to come after Clemens. They really don't.

******

What or why is your feelings THEY don't want to come after Clemens? Could you elaborate more in detail before stating THEY look racist, puhleeze?

To be fair...He also played the anti-bush card too!

but if you think Keiths Card was bad...

Earnest just took the day off to celebrate....im not sure what card that is, but its a really really really shallow one.

Truth is, im white and I am happy too, cheaters never win. Look at the Pats, lost! Bonds, never won a championship! Gore, Kerry, tried to have lawyers steal the election away from the people, lost.

So, its all fair.

Oh wait...i am a cheater too, i forgot, I used to fix small fry games to make them less one sided. Never mind.

I could care less about Clemens and McNamee. They can share the same jail cell for all I care.

I just wish somebody, even one of the doctors testitfying would further discuss HGH.

As someone who takes it daily to combat a hormone deficiency from raditation treatment, I can tell you I don't at all care about Pettitte taking it for two days in whatever year. Even if he took it for a week, the benefits would be negligible. It takes up to a month for enough hormone to build up in your body as to have any effect.

The problem with these proceedings is that HGH is getting lumped in with steroids. You can't cycle on HGH. If you take it once a month for a year, it does absolutely nothing, and the harmful side effects are minuscule. From what I've been told/read/heard, steroids is at the other end of the spectrum.

Clemens' legacy should have been tarnished (and was for me) when he threw a bat at Mike Piazza. I believe Clemens was a cheater on the same level as Jose Canseco, Rafael Palmeiro and Sammy Sosa, and no matter what happens in D.C. it won't change my mind.

Sorry Roger, but what would behoove every single person involved in this to lie about you? You are the only one that has anything to gain by lying in this scenario. Andy Pettitte's wife swore in an affidavit that her statements and her husband's were true. Why would she lie? What benefit would it be to her to risk a federal perjury charge and corroborate other people's stories? Your answer to everything today that was contradictory to your side was some version of: "I don't know," "I can't explain it," or "My career stats are....." Brian McNamee is telling the truth about Pettitte and Chuck Knoblauch, but not about you? The Mitchell Report is accurate except where your name appears? You did not look good today, Roger. You were not believable. Great pitcher, terrible liar. Legacy ruined.

Guess Who and Anonymous

Keith does not need actual facts to prove that the committe members are racist...Keith says they are so move on.

Klss

Count me among the many who are tired of the continual introduction of racism as the answer to everything. Who on this blog doesn't think this country still has race issues to deal with? Speak up if you don't...

How do you know these guys are racist? How does Obama's quest to be Pres fit in here? You're all over the board man...aren't we talking about Clemens here?

Here is how Obama fits in...

Roger Clemens -> Barry Bonds -> Barry Obama (that was his name when he was a kid).

"Pettitte was mistaken"..."I never had sexual relations with that woman" .... "Oral sex isn't sex"... "I didn't inhale"... "I knew nothing about the Watergate break in" ... the top 5 quotes of all time coming from capitol hill?

Every one of those lines is as lame as Superman's disguise being a business suit and a pair of glasses.

BTW Pettitte's qualifier "because I'm a Christian, I'm compelled to tell the truth" doesn't impress me either. Some of the biggest hypocrites I know are so-called born again Christians.

Don't you wonder if McNamee stole a page from the Monica play book by holding onto a syringe? It's not as dramatic as a semen stained blue dress though.

But I am thrilled that my tax dollar is going to such an important issue rather than being wasted on such non-sense as alternitive fuel sources or programs to improve the economy.

Mine is an opinion - just like everyone elses on this blog.

J. Rossi - I commend your post. They areen't discussing HGH because it doesn't turn you into the Hulk like people have suggested. Doctors administer it like Tylenol. And it happens to be just the thing that they "accused" Bonds of using. So you KNOW they have already investigated it thoroughly. There is simply nothing to release. Its a joke. We are supposed to be putting people in jail for CRIMES, not lies. But a lie seems to be the only thing racist folks can indict you on. Someone once said...they could indict a ham sandwich. And they can indict ANYONE who has testified. They pick and chose who to apply that little law to, like they have always done in America.

What is happening with Barak Obama is goes against the grain of what America has been. Ifffff it happens, will definitely soften my opinion on America as a whole. Thats a big IF.

Is "misremembers" a real word?

Keith your continued references to racism are getting a little tiring. Explain how if the same people that went after Bonds are now going after Clemens they are racist. And if you have really paid attention to the trends for Obama you'd notice that in the primaries he's carried he has received better than 50% of the white male vote. I will grant you that some of that vote is an indictment against Hilary but it went to Obama none the less. FYI I am a white male over 50 registered republican and intend to vote for Obama should he take the Dem. nomination because in my opinion he is the best person for the job. If Hilary somehow manages the nomination I will stick with my party because I have no trust in Hilary.

Tim - exactly.

The other point is my favorite ST columnist calls out black people when they don't support Obama. THEN, when the hispanic vote leans toward Hillary in a primary a few weeks back, that is somehow racist?

I believe the black vote is 80%+ in support of Obama in prior weeks...fine. I only wish these pundits would be consistent in their assessment of race and voting.

With my vote that's 2 votes for B.O.

Did someone say Politics?

Tim...funny how 3 outta your 5 slimiest quotes of all time were from BillClinton.

I would vote for Obama if he would recognize that we are winning the war in Iraq and cut out all the Pull out nonsense.

Also, what the F is cindy sheehan doing marching with the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt? Her son is probably waiting in heaven with an AK.

Tim Little - If Bonds is not relevant to Clemens I simply am at a loss for words. The FEDS don't "go after" people, they GET them - when they really want them. And I am simply waiting patiently to see just that, even though I don't wish it on Clemens.

I honestly feel he is just caught in the net of the big fish they already landed. I think this whole thing is just a big show.

Concerning Obama, my skepticism is not for people like you Tim, its for the system that has built it. And as good as things look for him, I will not believe it until I see it.

Now concerning your Christian comment - its very accurate, but Christians don't claim to be perfect. Being a Christian is an admission of fault/failure and a need for help. We ARE and were some of the worst sinners - we just admit it.

Tommy:

"I believe the black vote is 80%+ in support of Obama in prior weeks...fine. I only wish these pundits would be consistent in their assessment of race and voting."

Whoa, so black Americans are "stupid" and "ghetto" if they don't vote for the former Harvard Law Review president, but if we do vote for Obama, now we're racist? Hispanic politicians are now badmouthing Hillary for replacing her former campaign manager, simply because she is Hispanic. Now that's racist.

bculz:

"we are winning the war in Iraq"

No we're not.

Keylan is wrong as usual. Every day that free-market capitalism/democracy builds in the region is a day America is winning the war.

Northwestern would not be building a branch in Quatar of all places if Saddam was still in power. It's why sheep of the donkey need to read the WSJ & learn something about economics.
You need to look no further than investment dollars to see whether the region is safer & securer now than it was a year ago.

Unfortunately stupid people are on the rise in America and the donkey says war is bad so the sheep repeat the word "BAAAAAAAD".
They are oblivious to the fact that a large number of the soldiers fighting in Iraq are reservists & re-enlistees that believe in the cause & keep opting to go back.

Back to Clemens. I'm really upset over Roidsgate & now Spygate in the NFL. Both Roger's need to get over themselves. Goddell you're an idiot. Spector is trying to help you stave off a class-action suit that is likely to come from Vegas as a result of Spygate reaching as far back as 2000. You should be bending over backwards to the govt in hopes they'll protect you from it.

Clemens you're a bigger idiot. This isn't a he-said, he-said affair. This is a he-trusted-him with his body affair. You're only chance was to paint a picture that you were very knowledgeable in B12, & paid attention to what McNamee was doing. You basically had to flood the public with every piece of information you could muster about your B12 usage. That's the only hope you had a convincing the public that McNamee couldn't
have shot you up with roids/HGH.

You did just the opposite. The more you spoke the dumber you sounded on the subject of B12. It became apparent to everyone McNamee could shoot you up with roids, tell you it was B12 & you wouldn't have been any wiser.

McNamee of course took it up a notch. He produced Petitte, Knoblaugh, your nanny & even your wife to help substantiate his claims. Game over Roger. Say hello to Pete Rose's life.

Jaun, you just moved to the front of the class today buddy.

I love your last two posts.

Especially the one that just rips Keylan cap off and pours straight knowledge into his cranium.

Hey...Keylan...if we are not "winning"

why are the bad guys in Iraq resorted to recruiting suicide bombers from Mental Hospitals?

Keep reading...if you dare to rid yourself of your ignorant blanket you have wrapped yourself in.....

The Down Syndrome Bombers: Terrorism Sinks To a New Low
Pajamas Media, CA - Feb 4, 2008
“It appears the suicide bombers were not willing martyrs, they were used by al-Qaeda for these horrific attacks,” Maj. Gen. Jeffery Hammond, the top US ...

Last week’s horrific bombings at two pet bazaars in Baghdad reacquainted us with the most disturbing type of suicide bomber: the unwitting martyr.

Had the perpetrators of the attacks that killed at least 99 people been young men who believed self-immolation was their one-way ticket to paradise, the story would have never made headlines. While voluntary martyrdom operations in Western countries still occur infrequently enough to shock the public into recognizing (however belatedly or temporarily) the brutality of radical Islamists, they have become old news in Iraq. One can’t help but wonder if there will come a time when the headline “Mentally Retarded Women Used in Bombings” no longer appalls us.

Because that moment has fortunately not yet arrived, Friday’s terrorist attacks were effective reminders of the utter depravity of jihadists. According to U.S. and Iraqi officials, pictures of the two female bombers showed they had Down syndrome. Their remote detonated bombs went off in locations thronged with families and children. “It appears the suicide bombers were not willing martyrs, they were used by al-Qaeda for these horrific attacks,” Maj. Gen. Jeffery Hammond, the top U.S. commander in Baghdad, told the AP.

Tim Little, my fault I am wrong and come to think of it... America is going to do what's right, especially with this Clemons stuff. They are going to get that guy like they do all of the bad guys. And this has nothing to do with racism or Bonds. Jason is right. Shouldnt have brought it up, nor any other comments on the subject.

I still sense sarcasm in keiths tone...or is that just me?

I am so sick of getting censored today....

Keylan...one question, if were losing the peacekeeping mission in Iraq, then why is it no longer an issue in the presidential debates?

"I still sense sarcasm in keiths tone...or is that just me?"

You think..? Somehow I don't think Keith read "The Boy Who Cried Wolf".

yeah...but it was soooo subtle...like...keith is usually very over the top and extreme...thats why i wonder if this was a page turner moment.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki proclaimed on Friday that Al-Qaeda had been routed in Baghdad thanks to a security plan launched a year ago, and would soon be defeated throughout the country.
"Thank God, we destroyed the cells of Al-Qaeda. They have been chased out of Baghdad and this has opened the way for their defeat throughout Iraq," Maliki said at a ceremony marking the launch on February 14 last year of the Baghdad security plan, known as Operation Fardh al-Qanoon (Imposing Law).

"Today our forces are locked in battle against outlaws in Nineveh and we are chasing them," he added, referring to the northern province where Iraqi officials say Al-Qaeda has regrouped after fleeing Baghdad.

Maliki on January 25 announced a "decisive battle" against Al-Qaeda in Nineveh province, and sent troop and police reinforcements to the provincial capital Mosul, which the US military says is the last urban stronghold of Al-Qaeda in Iraq.

Jason sez: "You think..? Somehow I don't think Keith read "The Boy Who Cried Wolf"."

Is that the book that Jay Mariotti wrote?

Pettite took HGH, but only to recover faster from Injury....

so, yeah..it was an advantage, and the side effects of being able to lift harder and feel younger, just bonus.

No advantage

I swear!

New Evidence out....Picture of Clemens at Jose's party...taken by a kid who was there...when he was 11.

Im telling you, whitey pulls out all the stops to prove that Bonds wasnt a witch hunt doesnt he?
