GOOD!!!!! That's what you call cheater's justice! I hope IU enjoys this season with the freshman liar in their backcourt, because he's gone next year. And the cheater will be fired!!! And IU will be on probation for the next few years. So enjoy, Hoosier fans. The Illini Nation will take great delight when the NCAA takes out their big eraser and wipes out your entire 2007-08 season!!!! I hope it was worth it!!!!

I dont condone what Sampson has done and I hope they eventually fire him. But to say that the Illini have been truthful and honest is a far cry from the truth. What about Jimmy Collins?? What about Lou Henson?? Oh how we forget those days!!!
That being said, i do believe that Weber is the real deal as a coahc and human being and I would like for him to do well even though i was an IU fan. I would have no problems with Weber as a coach even at IU. He is honest and a good coach.

Obviously this shows a pattern of behavior where the coach has zero respect for the rules and blatantly lies about his actions. I hope the NCAA comes down hard on Sampson. A one year suspension for him would not only be appropriate because he not only broke the rules, but did so while under restrictions because of previous violations. In this case I don't blame the school, I blame Sampson himself and he needs to be held accountable.

As an Illini fan, I am thrilled, but I still don't think that some of our students should have behaved the way they did last Thursday. Heckling and booing was great, but swearing and throwing stuff was no good.

Eric Gordon Sr.'s comments solidify my thoughts that he has similar ethics to Coach Sampson. He went through two recruiting processes with Coach Weber and Coach Sampson, and for him to say that all coaches behave like IU is an insult to decent, honest coaches like Coach Weber. Weber may not be the best recruiter, but he is honest about it, and for Mr. Gordon to say that everyone acts like IU is an shameful to Illinois and every other honest coach in America.

I can't believe they didn't fire him today. He belongs no where near that school, but the fact that they haven't fired him yet shows the disgusting greed that school has to win. When wins are more important than ethics, there is a serious problem and the president of the university should step in and fire the AD and the Coach.

Overall, this does make Illini Nation thrilled. In fact it is the brightest spot in the dismal season we had, as pathetic as that sounds, its the truth. Whether Gordon was involved in this or not is a non-issue. We knew Sampson was unethical when Gordon changed his mind, now this just solidifies our thoughts.

IU and its fan base have always been so disgustingly sanctimonious about their basketball program that it's nauseating. True, they won three titles, but they were coached by a mean-spirited sociopath in Knight who embarrassed all of college basketball with his bullying nonsense. He graduated players, but who knows how much he intimidated the faculty to facilitate these graduations. His whole era was pathetic.

I am an Illinois fan and Bruce Webber supporter but I take no satisfaction in Coach Sampsons actions. If he is guilty so be it and give the I.U. sanctions. I would fooolishly like to believe that college sports are above this sort of thing but realize this happens. Saying that spare no mercy!! At some point in time people need to be accountable and realize what the job and the obligation is about and who is the benefactor.

Please give examples of how Bruce Weber is a Racist? That is a heck of an accusation to throw around. Also, Did you read the report against Sampson? He had every opportunity to succeed but he continuously broke the rules.

I am an Illinois fan and a Big Ten fan. This is a sad day for the Big Ten and for IU fans (and baseball but thats a whole other story). The IU AD should be showing Sampson the door. And if he doesn't, Indiana University should show the AD the door. It is disgraceful what they are willing to do to win games.

I am an Illini fan. This is not a great day for an Illini fan. I do not like seeing the decline of Indiana basketball. Illini fans are in favor of a strong Big Ten. In the glory years, the Illini had Gill and Anderson, Indiana had Cheany and Woodson, Iowa had Armstrong and Marble, Michigan Rice and Vaught,etc, etc. Those were the Golden years!!! Hope Indiana fires Sampson and hires a coach who will build a long term strong program (see what Purdue is doing!).

Actually, this is old news. Everyone should have known this was coming before the season really got underway. One wonders why the NCAA took so long to make their report. Now there is even more delay while the Indiana administration decides what to respond.It's almost as bad as Washington bureaucracy. I'm not as sure Kelvin S. is gone as most of the reporters are. K.S. already forfeited half a million voluntarily, and the assistant who made all the phone calls resigned a long time ago. Even a much earlier __Sun Times__ article stated months ago that what K.S. did was just plain "stupid." I would predict that the NCAA tournament will be over and long forgotten before a final decision is made regarding Sampson.I'd be for Tubby as a replacement, but Minnesota already snatched him up, and Bo Ryan is not likely to leave Wisconsin.

Michael, have you been out of the country and away from the internet for the last few months? You must be the ONLY Illini fan who hasn't been slobbering over the recruits that have verballed to Illinois with the recruiting of Coach Weber.

Crandall Head, Jereme Richmond, Anthony Johnson, Brandon Paul, D.J. Richardson, Joe Bertrand, Stan Simpson.

Not only are some of these kids the very best from the state of Illinois (which is one of the most fertile grounds for great high school basketball players) but a few of them will be some of the best in the nation.

Weber has not only passed Recruiting Basics 101 with flying colors; he's very close to getting his PhD in recruiting.

Anthony Johnson is in the 2010 class. The Illini can still sign recruit there as they only have commitments from Crandall Head and Jerome Richmond

I love it! I remember a short time ago all of the smug postings from the IU faithful back when Gordon committed, where are they now? However, you got what you asked for; a pudgy and out-of-shape player who is out after one year and a cheater/liar of a coach who isn't that good. I saw Jim Calhoun (UCONN) outcoach him and Ryan (Wisconsin) outcoach him twice! The best part of this is the fact that he (Sampson) is a cheater/liar who isn't going to win anything.

Joe asked what the Illini have ever won. In the last ten years they have won or tied for FIVE Big Ten championships and won the Big Ten tournament twice. Over that same time period Indiana has one Big Ten championship (a four way tie 2002) and ZERO Big Ten tournament championships.
