The Chicago Bears decided to part ways with Kyle Orton today.
It has not verbally happened, but why else would they hang him out to dry for the whole game? Complete ineptitude in every phase of the postion, was not what many fans ,who apparently forgot how bad he was two years ago, were expeccting. They could have bailed him out by putting in a capable Brian Griese in the the game to stir up some kind of offensive life, however they chose instead to ensure no doubt to Orton's emminent release from the team. This may come as early as Tuesday.
OR
The Chicago Bears decided today, to eliminate the Redskins and Lions and Eagles from playoff contention, by leaving a very poor Quarter back in to play the whole game. This is as close as it gets to 'throwing' games in the NFL. Although, he was unavailable for comment, Ron Turner could be seen 'savoring' his 'eventual' victory over the Lions and Redskins. Undoubtedly, this will also hinder the Bears efforts to sign washed up QB Donovan McNabb from the Philadelphia eagles. Which is exactly what the Bears organization will like. An excuse not to try to sign Mr. McNabb.
P.S. that was a good headline Anthony Navarro(Go ahead Roman..tell me it was recycled.).
For the life of me I couldn't understand not giving Devin Hester a chance to tie the game up. If I was a reporter after the game I would ask one simple question with a followup:
"Coach Smith, do you play to win the game?"
"Then why didn't you call timeout at the end of the game on 4th and 11 to have a punt return with 15 seconds left with the most dangerous return man of all time back to take it?"
Offense remains offensive : line doesn't block, backs do not run, receivers do not catch, passer intentionally grounds, special teams not special. defense good until crunch time and then take lunchtime.
WANTED: NEW OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR.
Get Ron Turner Out Of Chicago, Please.
Everyone wants to blame the Quarterbacks inefficiency. How about teh atrocious playcalling(Wolfe up the gut from our own 3 yard line), or the ineffectiveness of our offensive line (poor blocking and STUPID penalties). Did anyone see that screen pass where our blockers were 6 yards ahead of the play. We need some big time changes on the offensive side of the ball for this team to be competitive in the NFC North next year.
Chicago SunTimes to blame for the demise of the Bears!!!
Today the SunTimes was exposed as the reason for the fall of a once mighty and proud football franchise. By agreeing to extend Jay Mariotti's contract all those months ago, it is evident they purposely set out to ruin the Bear's organization. Had he been freed up from his responsibilities of reminding everyone how smart he is in newsprint, he could have demonstrated it by taking over the GM, Coaching, Trainer, and possibly running in tandem with Devin Hester, down the sidelines bringing us victory after victory. My Lord he just knows everything!! Hopefully, since the Bears have to this point not listened to him, they won't start now by bringing in McNabb. All the Bears need is another has been QB to set them back who knows how far. Perhaps we can get a package trade, Lovie, Angelo, Turner, and Jay, for Brett Favre. One year of Brett for us, and Green bay gets a bunch of tackling dummies.
Could disenchanted Kidd actually be happy as a Bull?
December 7-Daily Herald
"But the Bulls should consider making a run at unhappy Nets point guard Jason Kidd, who played for Skiles in Phoenix. The Bulls have been at their best lately when play-making point guard Chris Duhon is on the floor in place of Kirk Hinrich."
Roman responds: I hope the story addressed how well Skiles and Kidd got along.
