What is with the Bulls?

An 0-3 start does not a failed season make, but they have to at the very least play like they care.

Scott Skiles is very candid with the media, and I thought it was telling when he said sometimes it doesn't look like his guys care after the loss to Philly on Friday.

So Joakim Noah may play tomorrow and he's apparently not happy with the fans chanting Kobe's name on Friday. Too bad.

Fans will tolerate a team playing hard and losing. They won't stand for that effort. If you don't like it, win.

What is with the Bulls?

1.) Trade Rumors

2.) Management's non-loyalty to it its players though they know it is a business and can be traded at any moment.

3.) Silly fans who boo the team, then scream Kobe's name as though he is the second coming of a fellow named Michael Jordan. ( There is a statue of him in front of the United Center for a reason people! )

4.) Sports Columnists who critique the Bulls slow start and bemoan "What is with the Bulls?" -- Not you Roman, that guy with initials J.M.

5.) Okay what the hell you too Roman...*smile*

6.) Joakim Noah, "WELCOME TO CHICAGO, MY MAN!" Winter is right around the corner and if you think the fans and sports columnists are nasty now, go 0 fer 15 or 20, or maybe 2-17 to start the season!

Roman responds: Interesting. So it's the fault of everyone but the players? Hmmm, I think they get paid a lot of money to deal with the fans and the media and the rumors and play hard all the time. Not sure I buy your argument.

"One Bulls loss should not a trade make"

"An 0-3 start does not a failed season make,"

ummmmmm

A Well too often gone too, a well that runneth dry!

Roman responds: I was thinking the same thing. I'll try to replenish.

Who was he talking about, I forgot to DVR the game.

Thabo looks like he should be on the court with me on 107th, and not in the NBA. Someone please tell NOC, and GORDON that passing the ball is part of the game too. But it does look like they will win about 45-50 games, and get bounced in the second round, that is my prognostication after game 3. Not what I hoped for this year, first the White Sox, then the Bears, and now this, at least the Blackhawks are .500. What a city!

The Bulls better get wise and get a Superstar.....or risk winding up like Atlanta playing in front of no fans.
No way I leave my house in the cold to watch this old rerun.

I guarantee, if we don't sprain those ankles we are 2-1 at worse. If it's not one thing it's another with the Bulls' slow starts. Oh well? But we'll be fine. I just hope with Noah returning we find some time to rest Big Ben. Guy has no vertical with that bum ankle and shouldn't even be out there. Hey Kirk, don't forget you have some springs behind you. Getting beat now and then does not mean you have to throw your body into a silly foul. Gotta have you on the court. Hopefully Tyrus got a taste of what it means to be NEEDED and brings that game EVERY NIGHT.

Bring on the Clippers.

I told everyone many moons ago. The rest of the league is catching up to the Bulls and our little window of opportunity with Ben Wallace is closing shut. LABRON and WADE have both been to the finals, and the East is now peppered with great budding stars and exceptional athletes. You will need a star to compete. Distractions have affected them, but even a great team without a star is beatable. When Dirk disappeared last year - the Warriors devoured them. A star with some athletes.

what's wrong with the BUlls???? three games of some of the sloppiest offense I've seen from them in years. poor passes that lead to breakaway lay-ups, poor shot selection, poor spacing on the floor, too many fouls leading to opponents making more free throws than the Bulls attempt and lack of offensive rebounding. the game saturday night Deng looked like he was afraid to shoot Gordon, Hinrich and Nocioni seemed to have fallen in love with the 3 point shot and the team shot a sorry 23.5% from there.
in all three games so far the only bright spot I've seen has been the play of Tyrus Thomas and Joe Smith. Tyrus is averaging 9 pts and 8 rebs and 1.7 blocks per game and Joe Smith is averaging 7 points and 5.7 rebs and .67 blocks.

Dang...my funniest line in a while and I forget to give myself credit...i am slipping.

I hear Elton Brand is available....that may be the Magic Fit...

Roman responds: Every player is "available." Why stop with Elton? Why not Duncan or Dwade?

This is very concerning. These are 3 of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference. I can only imagine what's going to happen when we go out west.

Side note: I can't believe that Jay wrote an entire column about someone calling Rex Grossman a "retarded vagina".....is Jay aware that someone (not me, but I would be proud to say it was me) paid like $20 or whatever to have www.retardedvagina.com link to his column?

Well...i could be like Keith and say "I told you this would happen"...and offer NO SOLUTIONS....but...at least Im offering ideas up!

Im glad I didnt poney up for the NBA package....Cant wait for the Christmas day game. Hope were a little better by then.

Roman responds: Bulls will win tonight. Their pride will take over and force them to play just a little bit harder. Often, that's the only difference between winning and losing in the NBA anyway. Just playing harder.
That's what happened to the Cubs when they bottomed out during that lost weekend.

Don't worry BC, it wasn't that funny.

The more I think about kobe coming to Chicago...the more I think of how LeBron is better....and the future...with all things being equal on the court...LeBron will win that game most every time...Kobe can't stop him

LeBron made the finals without a dominant Center....Like Mike

NOW WHAT?

I say pay attention to the front line....

Roman responds: Interesting. So it's the fault of everyone but the players? Hmmm, I think they get paid a lot of money to deal with the fans and the media and the rumors and play hard all the time. Not sure I buy your argument.

I was being saracstic Roman, as I presume you are doing...lol

But I was serious about the statue of M.J. out front part though.

Don't look now, but the east IS getting better. Tell me how the Bulls match up against the Hawks with Marvin Williams and Al Horford down low. They look real good for a young team.
We know the Bulls can't beat the Nets when it matters, so now you have Detroit, Boston, Nets, and probably Toronto better than the Bulls. Are the Bulls better than Orlando and Cleveland? Maybe...but the Cavs have the best player in the East, and tell me who's gonna guard Dwight Howard?
THAT's the difference now between the Bulls and these other teams. Forget about them being 0-3...who on the Bulls do other team freak out about??? Answer - the guy who works off 3 picks for an open 18 footer. They're built for 82 games cuz they have depth and can outlast teams once you get into March/April - remember last year they were barely over .500 for most of the year then injuries killed some of these teams and the Bulls settled into the 3rd spot.
This team has LOTs of issues.

I guess were just a little extra hustle away from a championship!

Your right JB..i can do better.

Roman responds: Yeah, smart aleck, that's what I said. If you watch enough of the NBA, you'll know the difference between winning and losing on many nights is just hustle. Hustle to fight harder for a rebound, work harder on defense, getting around picks, diving for loose balls. But maybe you think those things don't matter.

BC, do you purposely make grammatical errors to get my attention? Blog crushes can be so complicated. Please don't make me do this.......

It's "you're." "Y-o-u-r" is something you possess, "y-o-u-'-r-e" means you are. As in, I'm right.

While I'm at it, it would've been funnier if you spelled "Dang" with an "e" - get it?

I didn't see the whole game (just got back from Vegas) - looks like the Bulls didn't have the "hustle" tonight either. I turned it on and they were down 2 with most of the 4th to go. What happened? They looked exhausted, but they haven't played since Friday. Maybe we just need a guy like, oh I don't know - Kobe Byrant? Now he's got hustle!

This is OT, but I have to pass along this info. The odds in Vegas for the Patriots to win the Super Bowl are 2/7. I didn't get that backwards either. 2/7! I've never heard of such bad odds in my life.

First the Sox, Cubs, Bears, and now the Bulls are underachieving. It's tough being a Chicago sports fan right now.

Is 0-4 a failed season in the making?

Another night, another loss. What the hell is going on?

0-4? Go Bulls~!

Yet another disappointment in Chicago sports thus far.

No more Bears, Roman?

I really do not want to hit other thread here. That man may have more insight in the football world, but he doesn't know the basic ins and outs of playing the game, he just writes what the coaches say. And since I can remember, a coach will never tell a fan the truth, they think fans will villify them if they do. The truth is left in the film room. We get the retreads.

Rex will be back, I hope.

J Cakes

You forgot...yikes...the Knicks who actually had the stones to make a trade to improve themselves.

This team is unwatchable.

The Bulls break down too often on offense to win consistently. They better make a move for Kobe and fast or we're going to tank and I'm not prepared to just be an also ran anymore. It makes me think of some of the playoff series during the Bulls championship era. Sure, someone was watching but most of them were being paid to do it or they were home fans. I didn't bother to watch a lot of them because I knew no one could beat the Bulls. I especially didn't watch any of the West series because I knew the teams were just fodder for the Bulls. That's how I feel about the Bulls this year. I start watching but I know that they have no chance with this current team to do anything special.

spare me...i know all about hustle.....and I know....You cant instill hustle, you have to recruit it.

I thought all we had were Hi Energy Hustle players?

Speaking of watching ball....have you seen any of the Knicks games?? SCARY!

We look like a tennis team!

well Tuesday night the Bulls came out with a bit more hustle than the first three games, then in the second quarter went into an engine stall resulting in the Clippers opening a 13 point lead before they shifted into 4 wheel drive to climb back up the hill and close the gap to 5 points at the half and one at the end of the third. Half way through the 4th they finally managed to capture the lead but failed to get more than a 3 pont lead. in the final 2 1/2 minutes they looked like the idiots in the zombie movies that stand there wide eyed and open mouthed unable to outrun the zombies that move at the incredible speed of a half mile an hour. Ben Gordons ball handling the Bulls last couple of possesions looked like the scared woman tryin to lock the car door to keep the zombies out yet she forgot to roll up the window or start the car and take off. I suppose on the bright side they did manage to hold the Clippers 21 points under their average. Captain Kirk was unable to beam them up to victory, flash Gordon once again was rendered impotent by the guards of the evil emperor Ming seconds before the narrator went into his blurb....is this the end of flash gordon? be sure to tune in....

has the man behind the curtain been exposed not as a wizard but as a carney barker? has conan the destroyer turned into the tin man with no heart and rusty joints unable to protect the middle? is this Bulls team we've watched really alien pod poeple and the first victims of a real life invasion of the body snatchers? I can hear robot in the distance saying "Danger approaching, Danger approaching" so I must return to Jupiter 1 now and find out what disaster Dr. Smith has brought down us this time. be sure to tune in again thursday nite to see what perils await our heros.

Roman responds: Not bad.

Roman - to his credit Scott Skiles has preached that the Bulls dont have a team where they can afford to not give their best effort everytime out. That means they need a star, and more specifically a POST-star to compliment the drive and kick offense. Bulls also need a playmaker. The only reason I don't endorse Kobe is because he is not a playmaker. Bulls need - Steve Nash, Deron Williams, Sam Cassell, Tony Parker, Chris Paul, Jason Kidd or a guy like that. These guys make others better, and get involved when needed to. That is REALLY the strength of LaBron's game. His ability to make others an extension of himself. He's better than Kobe right now. You look and points and say no way - but I look at results. Great scoring makes you a legend, but great play makes you a champion. That was MJ's crowining achievement. Some say it was the maturity of Scottie, but I know it was Mike's ability to humble himself and adjust to the triangle.

Last night Kirk had 1 assist. Tyrus Thomas had 5.

First we had an untouchable core of 15 guys...now we need a Big Man, a point guar & more shooters. What are these other 15 guys good for? Rebounds/Defense/Blockshots?...Dont they call that....Hustle?

if the Bulls continue and go 0 For 9 I wouldn't be too shocked if Kobe and Gordon along with Nocioni,Curry and Khryapa are in different unmiforms for game 10 in L.A.

I guess were just a little extra hustle away from a championship!

************

It is called desire, who wants it the most, leave every ounce of energy on the court when playing. Why was Dennis Rodman like? He dived for the ball, he didn't mind the floor burns. I believe that is what Roman is pointing out.

Is Kobe that type of player? NO!
Will he score 40 points? Yes, and the Bulls can possibly still lose.

This will puzzle me until I die! HOW IN THE HELL THE CHICAGO BULLS DO NOT KEEP A GUY LIKE MIKE AROUND to let younger players know, "DAMN, LOOK AT WHAT I HAVE TO LIVE UP TO!"

The Boston Celtics, kept Bill Russel around in some capacity for players to pick his brains. Jerry Buss kept Magic Johnson around for Kobe and Shaq to know HOW TO WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS!

What did the Bulls do? You know the answer people.

Roman answer one question. Why in the HELL did Michael Jordan NOT become a part of the Chicago Bulls Organization after his playing days?

Roman responds: Depends on who you believe. I'm sure Jerry Reinsdorf would have been amenable to some type of role for Jordan, and I'm sure Jerry Krause wanted no part of that.
But Jordan might have wanted a bigger piece of pie than Reinsdorf was willing to deliver. MJ obviously wanted to run a team, and Reinsdorf was loyal to Krause. When Reinsdorf finally realized Krause wasn't the answer, he went with Paxson.
Meanwhile, MJ's still trying to run a successful organization.

The problem with the Bulls is that they are literally the same team. They didn't grow, change or evolve. Do you know what a thing that doesn't change, grow or evolve is called? It's called dead, which is what the Bulls are.

Let it be written that Culzie brought up the Knicks first! LOL!!!

wHY NOT, THE NYK's LOOK AWESOME

Ok..im willing to say its still early in the season too, but they say..."a good start is worth half the whole"...

anyways...

Its gonna be like the NFL....a buncha teams that have been down will be up now, and teams that have been up will be down.

NY brought in a star and they look different dont they. They already had the pieces in place they just needed that one player to lead with his play. Bulls need the same thing. Gordon is a scorer but not a star. Bulls don't really have a star and that includes Deng and Wallace. But what they have is valuable role players and Pax has to make a deal. Bulls have to speak with some of these teams for a playmaker like Sam Cassel, a shooting guard like Bonzi Wells, or a post player like Zach Randolph. Those are the 3 immediate areas we need to address. Some team has a surplus at one of these positions and the Bulls need to deal Gordon. I like Gordon, but he is asking for too much money and Deng has to be signed. I know Gardener is not the answer! And our young players - while talented and full of promise - will not help much in the playoffs.

Window is closing Pax - pull the trigger! If we are not ready to go for it all, why bring in Joe Smith and Wallace and Griffin? They are taking up space if we are not going to go for the trophy.

Roman responds: Ok Keith, you can talk some smack about your Knicks. At least for now.

Chicago is indebted to the Pistons and Knicks. They helped form us into champions! I will never forget them.

I am not a NY fan, but I recognize what they put together and why. And I will always pull for Chicago/Illinois natives. When you have all the pieces in place all you have to work on is chemistry and skillsets. They got players that are the right size, height and weight for their positions. And they are athletes.

Bulls are short in 3 places and it will be difficult to advance to the finals without a True Center, True Playmaker, and Agressive Scorer (star). ONLY a couple of guards (Pax and Skiles and Hinrich) would embrace an offense that scores from beyond the arc - the lowest percentage shot on the court. We get no respect from the refs and miss more than half of our free throws. Bulls are absolutely predictable on offense. Gotta shake things up. The talent gap is closing and there arent a lot of gimme games on the schedule anymore.

I wouldnt fool with Kobe! I know he is a dominant player, but business wise he would Laker us (and that is not good). He is a player that is a lot like KG was - just difficult to win with. If we could control Kobe like KG then he would be worth the gamble, but if LA cant control him - what do you really hope for in Chicago? His only value to us would be if we could move him. If you don't have any leverage with him - he is poison. Bulls need a Center and a true point guard make no bones about it. Gordon, Deng, and Hinrich are all worth sacrificing for one of those. Wallace looks to be done - if he is hurt I hope he heals and when he is back - trade him as fast as we can.

Saturday night was the first time in a long time I turned a Bulls game off with over 10 minutes left to play. I have to wonder why they went away fron the inside play that helped them beat Detroit and also wonder if the players collectively are trying to get Skiles fired with their lack-luster play.

I dont think Keith Likes the Knicks...if anything I think he hates them like I do....and just sears with Anger that they are mounting their Tet Offensive against us, as we snuggle in our Core Sleeping Bag!

Roman responds: Tet Offensive? They're 2-3.

I said...the Sex Offenders......not Tet Offensive!

Maybe...Marbury has Dirt on Keith???
