A reason to care about Sunday's game

Am I the only one who wasn't exactly excited about Sunday's game in Oakland? At least Raiders coach Lane Kiffin added some intrigue by saying he would kick to Devin Hester.

It will be interesting to see if it works.

And I don't blame him for taking a chance. The Raiders aren't going anywhere, so why not challenge your team. Who knows, Hester might get his fumblelitis back.

It's like pitching to Barry Bonds. If first is open late in a close game, you walk him. Otherwise, man up.

Kiffin is. Now it's up to the Bears to make him pay.

Bears have to get to 500 before we can use words like excitement. Devin Hester is the only baller on the team right now. Griese has cooled off and killed the last ounce of hope I had for the playoffs. The Bears are not who I thought they were.

You know, as much as I talk yang about the Bears, I know they're a strong safety revision and some receiver concentration away frow being able to compete with the likes of everyone except N.E. and Indy (unless they lose Bob Sanders again).

WANTED: One strong safety with a minimum three years N.F.L. experience. Sure tackling and pass coverage abilities a must. Contact Lovie at 1-800-CRUCIAL or email qualifications to dabears@preventthelongplay.com.

DaBears and DaRaidahs are my 2 favorite teams...I wasn't going to watch the game....I bow to Lane Kiffin for creating a buzz...and of pretty good magnitude, if I might add....accident or genious....really don't care....better lucky than good anyway...

If Hester was on the Colts....you'd have to kick to him...chew on that

I'd like to see Russel get in at QB, but I wasn't going to tune in for it

Hold on, I just thought of something...

So, if Griese gets hurt...Lovie's gonna put that freaking homo back in isn't he?...I won't care if the Raiders punt on first down to Hester after that...HBO on demand, baby

I can watch The Rex Grossman Story there too
......"Less than Zero"

@#$$%# @#%%^@#% Football Season....grrrrr

If the Lovie-ster announced that Orton was going to start at QB and someone other than Turner was going to be the offensive coord., then there would be reason to watch.

As it is, watching a 15-12 game (all field goals) is not my idea of a fun Sunday afternoon.

Any surprise that NBC dropped the Bears from Sunday night?

I was all ready with my sharp reply, but you didn't have a blog open for sundays game so I had to go crawling to Brad. It's kind of like those Wile E. Coyote cartoons. When you see the road runner coming down the street, the obvious trick would be to fire a heat-seeking missle at him. But he goes so fast that the missle may miss him and then blow you up instead. Don't give your opponent what he wants, even if it looks like it's in your advantage. After that big shot on Hester against the Lions I'm more worried that the Bears will get desperate and that Hester might get his career (and motor skills) shortened as a result. If the Raiders are going to make it easy then why not just put Hester in on defense?

Intrigue-schmintrigue. Let's face it, the only reason any of us are going to watch this game is because we are loyal Bears fans and that's what you do. Now there's a great coaching move - let's tell the opposition our game plan! I, for one, don't believe him, so therefore, still no intrigue. As a Bears fan, I will watch - as a football fan, I know this is not going to be a great game.

Thats exciting. Could we line up Urlacher at Running Back?

Here Roman..youll like this link...its a short quiz..and then it tells you which Candidate you are most in step with.

Since our sports teams are bunk right now, we may as well get ready for some serious Political Debate...

The Raiders are going nowhere and neither are the Bears. Don't be surprised if the Bears lose. Even if they win, it will probably be by a FG. The Bears have always lived by the Turnover and this year they just haven't been getting any.

Im sticking with Cedric, Im out there...and Im lovin' it!

what the Bears really need :better fans to post in this blog.
3-5 and you turn into Sox fans for crying out loud. Stop moaning and enjoy the broadcast on the radio. That's where the excitment is.....for us real fans anyway......GOOOOOOOO BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEARS!! Win or lose...duh-duh, duh-DUH-duh-duhhhhh..duh-duh-duh-duh-duhduhduh Bear Down!

Sunday is a game the Bears will win. Cedric will have a good game not a great game since Adrian Peterson of the Vikings redefined greatness in running backs.
I hope Ron Turner get lost on his way to the plane.Hate to bash the guy but he has no clue to calling a game.
A good reason to watch sunday is that I still bleed Bear Blue and Orange.
Flash! another Bear down,Rueben Brown.
Some how I can`t get worked up for sunday, game time decision I guess.
Go Bears!

Either way we're done. Green Bay is 7-1, Detroit is 6-2 & Minn. is 3-5...All the teams heating up while we're still stone cold.

Just call it a season and lose all the games, so atleast we can get a decent QB, or someone else. Not some late or middle 1st round pick.

On the side note - Ruben Brown was hurt most of the first half of the season. He was in extreme pain by the time he finished games.... Does this have to do anything with why our O-line sucks???

- Keep REX & Benson - You'll regret losing them to seomeone else -

Because I can watch it at home in HD. Its on regular TV for once out here. Thank you Oakland!

WooHOOO

BEAR DOWN!

Sad aint it?

lmao...truth hurts, huh..

Raiders..31
Bears..17

I think you nailed it, Julie B. We watch out of loyalty. I remain foolishly optimistic, and that's out of loyalty too. I dislike Greenbay so much that I have a hard time accepting Favre as anything but a dork, which is also unrealistically foolish. So sue me. Chicago radio talks about Rex getting back in against Oakland to see if he wopuld be worth pursuing for next year. That's probably another good reason to watch. I still doubt that they'll kick to Hester. All the coach has to do is say, " I lied."

Roman responds: Yeah, I'd watch too, even if I weren't grading the team or whatever. I'm talking about being excited.

OK check that last post. I have no reason to care. They (and the Raiders) suck so bad that the stations out here are to embarrassed to broadcast the game. I guess I could drive up to the Bay area I could probably even get a ticket... Nah gas is to expensive although, the clam chowder in the sourdough bowl is mighty tasty. I am trying to come up with one Roman. I will keep thinking.

BEAR DOWN

I'm a masochist.. so I'll watch the game, besides I'll be starting Fargas in one of my fantasy leagues, maybe even Berrian though he's useless this year.

what will be most amusing to watch is the Bears announcing they will "re-commit" to Cedric Benson.

so I take it he'll run into a non existent hole three times for a net gain of about 7 yards and then they'll punt?

it's kind of like committing to... Ron Dayne.

(except Dayne has much better stats than Benson this year)

maybe the Bears braintrust should be "committed" to a sanatorium.

can't wait to see Rex in a Packer uniform next year. That should be interesting.

The Bears are in a rapid downward spiral that won't end for a couple of years, especially on the offense. Of course, this being the Bears, what else will be new? have they ever had an offense?

they really ARE what Denny Greene thought they were.

He's Nostradamus.

bculz:

"Thats exciting. Could we line up Urlacher at Running Back?"

Whatever you want buddy. Sky's the limit.

culzie that link was the bomb! Thanks!
Hopefully the Bears will follow the Bulls and make the rest of the season interesting.

Ok, the game just got more exciting for me. Out of absolute utter necessity, I have to start Adrian Peterson (and not the good one) this week. I don't know what the rest of you are gonna do for excitement, but this should hold me over till next week.

btw can we start a movement to give Dennis Greene the GM job or something else high in the organization?

think about a slogan if he were running for that office.

They are what I thought they were.

now who can possibly match that? especially within the current Bears organization?

i've been generally unimpressed and not especially excited since Angelo passed on signing any free agents that might have helped the team this off-season. olsen was a good pickup.

with corey dillon, simeon rice, and ricky williams on the market for fairly cheap, you'd think angelo could find some room (yes, i know williams isn't technically on the market yet). but no, this is a man that traded a starting running back and a second-round draft pick for...a higher second-round draft pick.

i'm not especially down on griese just yet. he's throwing thirty-five passes a game because the ground attack is offensively ineffective--he'll throw some picks. unless we're talking a switch to number 18, i say stick with griese--i'd rather have someone who fails to win games than someone who ensures we'll lose them. (i'll take McNabb any day of the week, but Orton's worth a shot.)

as for the game--McCown is starting, so I'll say bears win 24-10.

man, did we ever trade the wrong player to the panthers. rex'd look good in panther blue.

Can't get jacked up, but I will stand by my boyz.

Duncan Hunter for me!

Hunter for me also. How bout them bulls? Ship Gordan out of town for anyone, let alone Kobe beef.

"It's obvious they don't believe their Adrian Peterson can handle the job based on his relative inactivity."

"Let's face it, Kyle Orton is the 3rd string QB for a reason"

Two misguided quotes....and surprisingly..from two good writers....here, let me fix this for you, boys...

and also the reason ego boy Angelo and yes man Lovie gotta go...

Despite averaging nearly 5 yards per carry, our AP will never get a shot at starting as long as the 16 million dollar baby isn't hurt.

Kyle Orton remains 3rd string due to Angelo's commitment to Greise signing him to a perennial 2nd string contract, and "still" clinging to the hope he can wring some sort of semblance of value outta Rex...

Kyle isn't a rookie, people...and who did the players in training camp say was the most impressive?.....Kyle

Ever hear the story of the QB and his second full season?....Something Orton deserves and never got..or will get

Kyle and AP aren't playing due to JA's ego people...and Lovie's inability to stand up for himself

I'd like to see Orton go the Lions, Vikings, or Packers....and AP go to Jax with his brother

I don't wish the Bears organization on any talented offensive player...they don't deserve them....hell, they can't spot 'em on their own team....

I'm excited to watch the Bears lose....Nobody deserves it more than Angelo and Lovie....This is what happens, boys and girls, when a game and a team are turned into a ego driven business first/sport second attitude

So yeah, Roman...I am Excited as all get out to watch this team take the field...and fail...because that is what they're set up to do

while we get excited about our return game....ouch

Who scored the highest for you Keith...?

What's this I hear about Rex taking more snaps in practice and Griese being on a short leash? You were looking for excitement..... woo-hoo!

I had a 4 way tie. Umma Democrat! Obama is my guy 36!

Griese clearly Mentally Checked out.
