Bears should win this one. There's a bit of a drizzle, which shouldn't affect Brian Griese's dink-and-dump attack against the worst pass defense in the NFL.
It will be interesting to see if 2.4 Ced can gain some yards against the best rush defense in the NFL.
Update: So much for dink and dump. Great move by Bernard Berrian and Griese hit him in stride for the TD. And Benson is running hard. Looks like a new back.
Hester? Unbelievable.
Update: Hester isn't even the most exciting player on the field. Peterson is incredible. Bad interception for Griese, costly.
Update: Why did they kick to Peterson? When you know how much that can hurt a team, you can't afford to do that with the game on the line. Lovie said you have to play football. Bad call.
But what a game between two of the most exciting players in the league.
Benson's gonna get stuffed like cheese into a Hot Pocket(mmmm Hot Pocket). Clark Bar and G-reg Baller to the rescue! Charles "Punch-Out" Tillman- you're still the man.
Bears line finally opening up some holes for Benson. Might be the best I've seen him look.
but I'm still having probs viewing Benson on tape vs Adrian Peterson. It's running at half speed and I haven't screwed around with the speed settings.
maybe Adrian and Devin Hester should just settle this one on one. Everyone else on the field compared to them looks outclassed.
The Bears will never win with Lovie Smith as the coach and Turner as offensive cordiator. This offensive looks like something from the twenty's.
Defense, forget it.
Bears finish the season 6-10
as "good" as Benson has seemingly looked, he's still averaging less than 4 yards a carry. That's less than Chester Taylor not to even get into Adrian.
Hey, is it me or are the Vikings playing "Bears football" and running it at will up their backside?
Does Griese have the weakest arm in the NFL? Sure looks like it.
It has to be close between him and Chad Pennington. Chad seems to throw a better deep ball.
I see they finally figured out you can't have slow white guy Archuleta against fast black guys in pass coverage.
holy crap. I have to give Griese credit. The TD's to Moose and now the bomb to Hester were big league throws, just like Chad Pennington makes them.
Last second field goal, BEARS LOSE> Please bench benson...
RON TURNER MUST GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is the worst offensive play caller ever!
All those weapons and he can't figure out how to get it into their hands. When they run the ball effectivley with Benson, they get away from it. Why ? Run the ball and chew up the clock.
What a moron. I think he takes cat-naps up in the booth during the games.
How about that two-minute offense to end the first half.
Pathetic!
Everyone was blaming Grossman, now Benson, the aging offensive line and pretty soon Griese. I think the main problem on offense is the stupid play-calling of Ron Turner.
Let him go back to the college level where he sucked, too !
Good thing Griese is better than Grossman,
Ron Turner, you went back where you left from last week, I guess there is a good lining to this picture, we will probably get a top 10 pick. ______ is our quarterback. Can I revise my 12-4 to a 8-8 at best, mostly a 5-11.
Our offensive(very) playcalling, and our D playcalling just plain is sorry. I supported Babich until his defenses got carved up in the run game, I wish we had Chico Rivera back!!!!!

both Adrian Peterson's are better than what DaBears spent 16 million dollars on...Ced is embarrassing
Not as embarrassing as the onside kick, though
DaBears are a stupid, disheveled team and deserved to lose by 20...ehh, maybe next week
Trade RexandCed by Tuesday
That was a dagger. Did the Vikes play inspired ball? Were the BEARS flat? I'm beginning to ask that question that Urlacher was asking late in the fourth quarter if you read lips. What is going on? I thought Briggs had saved the day just before Longwell kicked long and well. I don't even have much complaint other than the fact that we lost after getting so close. Finish them off next time guys. Peterson was absolutely amazing. .Hats off to him. If you can't beat 'em draft' em. So that's what a gamebreaking back look like. He put on a great show and showed us what we are missing. Go BEARS..
Chuck I don't really care who our D coordinator is: when guys miss tackles that's on the players actually. Play calling is bismal on Offense. I'm a Turner backer but he's not doing a good job right now with utilizing these weapons. They really have to change their philosophy about staying in it until the end. Teams are kicking our butts because they want it more. Little thing are doing us in. Guys are dropping passes left and right. Now even our rookie TE is doing it. I'm greatly disappointed about the missed tackles but these guys were doing it when Rivera was coaching. Trying to strip all the time is hit or miss and that's what they do. Last week it worked to perfection, this week it blew up in our faces. Take away those missed tackles and it's a different game. Teams know that our speed can be used against us because we are constantly over-running the play. I really expected Peterson to have a good game against us just not the one he just had. Griese was up and down and that was from trying so hard. INTs happen to everyone so don't down him because of it happening on occasion. He still came up big when we needed but our special team just had an off-play and let Peterson get too far up the field. It happens. Winning feels good but losing shouldn't let you lose faith. Next Sunday could bring a start of a 13 game win streak. Or even a 9-1 rest of the regular season record before the playoffs. GO BEARS!!!
Bears ever hear of halftime adjustments? Great defenses do that, if I'm not mistaken. We only had to key on one guy and couldn't. Peterson ran all over us all day long - we did nothing different to try to stop him. Oh, and Griese sucks. When does the crowd start to boo him too?
The truth is the Bears waited too long to go balls-out and start making plays. Griese's stat line may show that he threw for 381 yds and 3 TDs but he was mostly unimpressive up until about 4 minutes left to go in the game. With another loss and another 2 INTs, Griese has now equaled Grossman in both W-L record (1-2) and INTS (6). And don't give me that Griese has thrown 7 TDs to Grossmans 1 TD crap. In each of his 3 games, Griese has had Olsen, Hester, and Bradley to work with in addition the regular backs and receivers. Grossman only had Olsen for one game and Hester and Bradley were non-existant when he was running the offense.
The first time in a long time I have to fault our DEFENSE. We gave up a Walter Payton, and that is unacceptable! Griese needs to be told - not to press. 21 points should be enough for the Bears to win with our defense and especially at home. He gets a pass just for taking that sack without fumbling. Jerry Angelo - NOW THAT IS A RUNNING BACK! Tip your hats Bear Fans, we were out dazzled and out-hit in our own house! I thought Mckie was dead! Was a Jerry Mcguire moment! Bears STILL should have won. I see that window of opportunity closing on the Bears this season. We simply wasted too much time with Rex. Still a good team, but a lot is missing from last year. Last year we would have won a game like this.
Let's be real here......
This Bear team was lucky as #@$% last year.
Without Hester they may be winless this year.
It's time to back up the truck and move on.
This team is in last place because they are horrible......
PERIOD
Roman, I used to think you were on top of things in these blogs. At least you used to 'answer' the ignorant. Or, you are as ignorant as some of your posters. So, I have no alternative but to believe you think Griese sucked today.
I guess I will find a place where people know a bit more about football. It isn't even worth the effort to answer Julie. Nothing gets through.
BTW, at the present time, Griese is still leading the League in yards, despite his receivers dropping balls all over the place.
Roman responds: Hey Rebecka, I'm writing my second sidebar right now. I'm sorry I don't have enough time to answer every poster you feel is ignorant. I gave Griese a C- for today, hope that's ok with you. If not, find some other blog.
If the Bears don't rush the ball at least 30 times a game, they will most likely lose. To ask Brian Griese to throw the ball 45 times in a game is being unfair to him, and yes, he did throw the two picks, yet he made the two huge passes in the final 4 minutes to rescue the Bears from a seemingly hopeless 14 pt deficit. I thought Griese had a weak arm? How about that bomb to Hester? Does anyone actually think that Grossman could have led the Bears back from a 14 pt deficit?
The blame for this loss goes to the Bears' defense for allowing over 300 total yards rushing... the Vikings played smashmouth football and totally embarrassed our defense. Also blame goes to Coach Smith for allowing Adrian Peterson to receive the final kickoff that he returned over 50 yds to get the Vikes within FG range.
It doesn't matter who the Bears' QB is... if the Bears can't do something about their defense, run the ball more, and continue to lose the turnover battle, this season will be one of the most disappointing in recent memory.
Thanks, Rebecka. You and I can disagree forever, and I'd never call you ignorant. Really nice.
Not sure why I come up as "Keith LIfetime Southsider"
But, I repeat.
The Bears are a last place team, and are looking at a 3 year rebuilding project.
The so called great defense, is one of the very worst in fooyball.
The offense would be ZERO without Hester.
This team is a JOKE
Oh, and I have a question for you Rebecka - how often does a QB's 300+ yard passing effort result in a win?
As hard as it is for Bears fans to admit, your defense is weak and your running game non-existent -- and if you can't excel at those two facets of the game you won't win in the NFC North, especially when the weather starts getting cold.
Griese is not the problem - trading Thomas Jones was the root cause of this debacle on offense. At least opposing Ds had to respect the run with Jones in the backfield. Benson lacks speed and the ability to see the holes. Too many 3 and outs mean too much time on the field for the D, and they get exposed. This is an 8-8 team - which may get them into the playoffs for another one-and-done. No repeat trip to the Super Bowl this year.
WRD,
Our defensive coordinator puts the players in a position to make the plays, just like our offensive coordinator puts our offense in a position to make plays. If our D is getting carved up, then the coordinator has to look at the playcalling to see if he is too preditcable. When Peterson was running, it looked like he was at one speed, and the Bears were at another speed.
Yes Minn was coming off a bye week, yes Peterson is a very good running back, but our defense is supposed to be top notch. We are not to give up 250+yards on the ground. They almost always had every Bear covered up on the runs, and the ones who weren't were not getting the job done. They knew who exactly who to block to spring Peterson and our D coordinator's job is to free up our playmakers. I don't care if you like my opinion, facts are facts about football.
Your best players stop their best players, and if you win the turnover battle (How many did Griese have again, what at least 7 in 3 games, sounds like Grossman to me.), and have a sound running game coach Smith expects to win. We did none of the above today, I won't get on Griese and his alleged great 3 turnover game(but if Grossman has the same game everyone is clamoring for the backup). I will not get on the missed tackles, missed tackles are part of the game, but our coordinator had to see Peterson was carving us up like Thanksgiving. All of his big runs are not runs of poor tackling. Our coordinators did not call a good game, and this game was important for momentum, and if they do not exploit the other team's weaknesses, we will be home for the playoffs.
I'm not gonna get off my stance players play, coaches coach (I know Dan Jiggets has a similar mantra, but I have believed that since 1991), and owners own. But at your job, even if you do great work, if you do not do what the boss wants you to do, you will get demoted, and even fired.
The Bears record after Grossman 1-2, the Bears record after Griese 1-2, big difference huh.
HA! Missed another game....Packers were on instead(Gosh I hate that!). I don't feel this anger and anxiety you guys(gals) are feeling. I see Brian threw for 381 yards,Devin returned another one, the Bears got NO turnovers. That's how the Packers lost to us last week. WE got turnovers last year...we didn't give the ball away as much. So tell me were these interceptions Brian's fault? How many Passes did we drop today? I see Bernard is getting a different agent. Yeah, maybe that will help him. Maybe help him get out of town.
Did the Bears think the Vikes were gonna pass alot? Is that what happened? They were playing the pass? At what point did they realize they were running? Normally that would have come when you find out who their quarterback is. Did the Bears even prepare for this game? Or is their Adrian Peterson that much better that L.T. and L.J. ?????
So....this NFL network thing....if the Bears were playing on the NFL network(later on in the season)....does that mean the game is not on anywhere else? Not even in Chicago? Will it still be on the Radio? Should I get a dish?
Isn't anybody paying attention out there? All the things I have been saying about the coaching staff the last year NOW becomes obvious to everyone? Just to refresh your memory:
1, Lovie Smith is not a NFL Head Coach. Show me one time he got the team ready for a game, motivated someone to play beyond their capabilities, made adjustments during a game or actually developed a game plan that forced an opposing team to adjust to us. All Lovie can do is REACT to the other Teams plays and then get crappy with reporters after the game when they question his stupid coaching decisions. This team is dead until he is fired.
2, Ron Turner is not an offense coordinator. His horrific play calling however is offensive to every Bear's fan in the country. He is so bad I'm running out of negative things to say about him.
3, Bob Babich is not a defensive coordinator. Can anyone name one good coach that Lovis has ever hired? Pep Hamilton? Ron Turner? I don't think so. With Babich and Turner the Bears have a one-two punch against them. Turner's terrible offense keeps the Bear's Defense on the field so long they are exhausted and prone to injury. Way to go Ron. When the defense is on the field, Babich is calling plays that result in either the hundreds of yard through the air or on the ground against us. Any defense that has the middle linebacker dropping back in coverage 90% of the time thus wasting the talent of Brian Urlacher to be a disruptive force on the field is totally screwed up. Can you imagine good this defense and team would be if Bill Belichek and his coordinators were coaching. Is there any doubt the Bears have better defensive talent than the Patriots yet are coached into giving up 300+ rusing yards?
4, Cedric Benson is not an NFL Quality running back. Cut him now and promote R.J Pope from the taxi squad. Cut him now so we can use some of the money to draft a real running back to replace him.
Our only hope is to fire Lovie and the entire staff and hire Bill Cowher or Steve Mariucci. If we don't the Bears will become the Cubs of the NFL, one championship every hundred years!
It's obvious to blame the defense, but I think it's more than that. The defense is hurting and not playing as good as they have the past 2 seasons. The offense needs to step up and help the defense out. Where was the offense the first 57 minutes of the game? Just like last week, even though they won, where was the offense the first 58 minutes against the Packers. That doesn't cut it. The offense managed 10 points until 3 minutes left in the game. It would be nice to see the defense playing with a 2 score lead for a change. The defense tackled poorly, but it takes a TEAM to win and the Bears can't count on the offense for any help at all. The Colts won the Superbowl last season because the defense came alive late in the season and in the playoffs. The Patriots are good because they have an offense and defense. The '85 Bears won because they had an offense to go with the defense. You need both. I'm not blaming the offense for losing this game, but they didn't do what they had to do to win it and help the struggling defense out. If the Bears would have had a 10 point lead, maybe the Vikings would have been throwing more and running Peterson less. How many times did Griese drop back, look downfield, and dump it off. I think I'm beginning to see why Griese is on his 4th team. He can put up good personal stats, but doesn't do what is needed to win as a team.
The injury to Mike Brown is ABSOLUTELY killing the Bears! There is no way he misses that tackle on Adrian Peterson that Brandon McGowan missed for the first TD run! Ron Turner is the worst play caller in the league. It took him 5 weeks, 3 quarters, and 14 minutes to decide to send Devin Hester on a fly pattern! If the had done this early in the game, they could have forced Minnesota to abandon the run and start passing to catch up! This is the most unprepared and arrogant team I've ever seen. Lovie Smith is a joke!
Good lord--Brian Griese throws for almost 400 yards, loses due to a defensive collapse, and yet people are blaming him?
I'm not a Griese fan, but does anyone here really think Rex Grossman could have kept the Bears in the game?
I'm sure that Jerry Angelo felt quite smug about his off-season moves a few months ago, but they've all blown up in his face. Letting Harris and Jones leave, while adding Archuleta, and not allowing any competition at the QB position has not paid dividends.
If this team wins 5 games they will be lucky. They are probably one of the 3 worst teams in the NFL. Turnovers, no running game and an undersized Defense which couldn't stop a High School Team. This is going to be a VERY long year. It's not even one or two positions. This Team is going to have to REBUILD. Thats how bad they are. This is how it's been going for Teams that lose the SB lately, they continue to get worse and worse.
CAT FIGHT!
We are a bad football team.
We looked flat.
We looked unprepared (especially on defense).
We don't take advantage of our offensive weapons/mismatches.
We can't tackle.
We got beat by a mediocre team with an extremely young quarterback who we never blitzed or otherwise put pressure on.
Are the Bears coaches watching the same game we are?
A Star was born yesterday!
I called it on Draft day, I prayed that Peterson wouldnt end up in the NFC central (unless on the Bears) and guess what. My prayers were not answered.
You know who I feel the worst for...OUR ADRIAN PETERSON.
Imagine.....someone with your exact name on the same field...is an ALL PRO, and it isnt you. Thats gotta sting.
UGGGG.......
The God of Football has delt us a nefarious hand!
Gotta give credit to the Minnie offensive line, and Peterson is special. Tommie Harris, where are you? The right side of the Bears defense was victimized all day, and Ron Turner called a halfway decent game. The most striking thing in yesterdays game was the play of D. Manning (still has a long ways to go), and Brandon McGowan.
Danieal Manning plays softer and tackles wimpier than any pro DB I've seen in some time. Eight yards of cushion on every play is FORCING teams to throw the quick slant. Sidney Rice would not be a Viking next week if I were coach. Kept us in the game, for goodness sake.
Brandon McGowan was a world beater against Detroit two weeks ago. Tackled THROUGH players on every play and missed not a ONE. Against Green Bay nothing got past Briggs so McGowans' services were rarely needed. But against the Vikes he missed two key tackles to give Peterson 107 yards after contact and TWO touchdowns. Kudos to Adrian for being a stud, but he was leveled each time Lance Briggs came in contact with him so we know he's good, but not Superman.
Hillenmeyer and Anderson were soft on the run all day, and run and pass support by Vasher was sorely missed.
There were at least four(4) occasions where I felt a blitz was definitely in order, and not one was answered. We got hurt on 3 out of the 4. Babich is turning out to be a disappointment.
Indianapolis will vouch that the loss of ONE, and only ONE, key player (see Bob Sanders, 2006) can sorely hurt your running game, so it may be just a matter of health before we get back on track.
Boy, sure wish we had one more Lance Briggs to put on the other side?
Everyone just relax. If football knowledge was Business Accumon JB vs. RJ would be like Forbes vs. Gates.
There is no loser of this one...it would just go on and on and on and on and on and on.
So lets all just agree that these two ladies although can be very petty and persnippity, they are also very knowledgable of all things, most notably...Football stats, Sideline perspective and most importantly Grammer.
Leave the fighting to me.

Mark Villano - Good Post! No competition at QB has killed us.
Darryl M - I am right there with you. Offense puts up 400 and we lose - UNACCEPTABLE. That is such an aberration that its downright comical. Stop the RUN and we win the game. How is that Griese's fault. Asking him to score more than 21 is futile. We have an adequate offense now - if the D doesn't show up - we will lose. No rocket science. Lovie was right - thats not even football they played yesterday. And if you don't take care of the fundamentals like tackling you're going to lose.
Roman was right - Lovie should not have kicked to that guy. In the final analysis of it all, mistakes are allowed here and there because these guys are human, but to give that guy a career day and then give him a chance to be a hero is unacceptable. Hang this loss on our DEFENSE and our COACH. But MOSTLY our defense who made mistake after mistake, after mistake. Lovie made one bad decision.
Greise's 380 yards were just like Ced's "big day" when he got 100 of the quietest yards in the history of football...
Brian doesn't have a big league arm, but he is doing the best he can, I think....We don't want a tall, big armed QB yet...geezuz, watch Orton get traded today....I said 6-10 or 7-9....We don't have a running game...and Greise doesn't have the arm a team can ride on....I'm fine with it cuz that means I'm gonna be right...which is cool....TJ put up 130 on the Eagles, btw...he's a RB without a team and we're a team without a RB (well, AP....but)
for the record...I'd rather be right about Orton and AP/Wolfe/Hester being the back field that gets us to the playoffs...won't happen...losing is way better than listening to me, huh Ted?
and did ya hear?.....TJ got 130 yards...and 5.outofcedsreach per carry too..
Adrian.... of the Minnesota Peterson's.....coulda come out of high school and played in the NFL.... if this was your first glimpse of this kid...Who knows, if Maurice Clarrett woulda won his case....JA STILL woulda drafted RexandCed
"With the 4th pick in the 2008 nfl draft, The Chicago Bears re-select Stan Thomas, District Manager, Taco Bell"
I have no Joy today
LOL. I have to agree with Keith. Now Peterson is a running back. What kinda half-arse tackle attempt was that just going for the strip? It worked agaisnt Green Bay, but you can only dance with the devil so many times. As far as Benson, heck, I'd even take the Minnesota RB backup right now. Thank God for Hester, or this season would be a disaster.
The Window Is Closed
The Superbowl window is now officially closed – if there ever was a window. The Bears were very fortunate last year. They played in a weak division, with a weak schedule and had relatively few injuries. They played a quarterback who, due to the lack of significant pressure, put up tremendous numbers 6 of the first 7 games. Once consistent pressure was applied, it was painfully apparent that he could not play well consistently. To the detriment of the team he was allowed to continue. The Bears barely beat a Seattle team with an injured running back and a quarterback with a broken hand. They then beat a young, inexperienced New Orleans team – and even then, not until the Saints made several mistakes late in the game. We all know what happened in the Superbowl.
The perception created after last year was a false one – that the Bears were a team poised for several attempts at championships. It was obvious to me that this was not the case at the time and the continued use of Grossman was a terrible mistake, but an understandable one given the Bears coaches’ (and management’s) acceptance of this false perception. If you believe that you are smart rather than lucky you make mistakes like this. Every year, every game, they stuck with Grossman, the offensive and defensive lines got older, as did receivers, linebackers, etc. The Bears have been living off of Mark Hatley’s draft picks and overpaid free agents ever since Jerry Angelo got here.
The Bears organization, as it is currently constituted, cannot consistently coach well nor draft well. When players are given jobs without competition, that is bad coaching. When players that are playing badly or uninspired football are not removed from the field, that is bad coaching. When assistant coaches are chosen because they are long-time buddies of the head coach, that is bad coaching. When year after year, 1st and 2nd round choices fail, that is bad scouting. There is a reason that New England, Pittsburg, Indianapolis (just to name a few teams) are consistently prepared to challenge for a championship – good coaching and consistently good drafting of high early round choices. The Bears can do neither. The last time the Bears were good at this was in the early 80’s, when Mr. Halas, a smart “football” guy, still had a say in the Bears organization. His choice of Coach Ditka and Jim Finks helped solidify the Bears throughout the rest of that decade. Were it not for the untimely death of his son Mugs, we might have a much different “football smart” organization now.
The Bears are not run by smart football people. They have hired incompetent coaches and management. And after years like 2006, because they know nothing about football, they extend contracts of incompetent people that perpetuate bad football. They have done this over and over since Mr. Halas died: extended Wannstedt after two 9-7 seasons, Jauron after one 13-3 season, Smith after an 11-5 and 13-3 season. Why would they do this? Because they don’t know what a talented coach or GM looks like. All they see is the record and think they are smart – rather than lucky.
So where does this leave us? Unless and until the McCaskey’s sell the Bears we are doomed to see a repeat of this cycle. The occasional lucky year, followed by an extension of the contracts of incompetent people, followed by their firing, followed by the hiring of more incompetents, with maybe another lucky year, etc …etc ...etc ...
Hey darryl,
Nobody is blaming Griese, just like no one should have blamed Grossman, they are both slightly above average QBs, and the loss of a real running attack, and a vertical passing attack is catching up to their weaknesses. You know what you have in Griese, his 10 years in the league tells you. You know what you have in Grossman, the question is, if Griese keeps chucking the ball up for grabs, which was supposed to NOT happen, do you still stay with him if you benched Grossman for the same offense.
It is the inconsistency. I saw a QB driving for a field goal at least on 4th and inches fumble the ball away. I saw a QB get murdered on a hit from a blitzer right in his face(he should have seen that one). He made misreads, all the things Grossman did but was villified by fans, media, and national media. 2 picks, Grossmanesque, should have been 3, that defender just dropped the ball. All these comments were the same comments Grossman haters have been saying for the past 2 years I have been on this blog.
Why does 'Brian is our quarterback' deserve a chance when 'Rex is our quarterback' did not get a chance after leading this team to the Superbowl. We as fans are all divided on who should be the starting QB for our Bears, the problem is, the Bears are losing games hand over foot, and if you want to exonerate Griese over a 1-2 start, then exonerate Grossman over a 1-2 start, and take it from there.
Oh and of those 400 yards, The Vikes are horrible at pass defense, he should have thrown for well over 400 yards with his superior skills set. Check out his stats, but guess what all his stats still amounted to a LOSS.
What good is there in leading the league in passing, when your team is out of the playoffs every year.
You don't need to post this. Sorry I ruffled your feathers. I guess I just misunderstood in the first place. When I read your blogs, I assumed you were stating what you felt was the truth. Obviously not.
Finally it dawned on me that your main purpose is to create controversy, about the time that you posted, "Bears sack Rex." Kind of a shock after, "Bears fans will love this signing." My trouble is, I remember almost all of what I read. It was rather confusing to see you 'demoting' Griese from your original post before he even had a chance to play?
Don't worry, I won't post on your blogs anymore. It is more appropriate for people like Julie, who just throw things out there to see who they can get a rise out of, with absolutely no idea of what they are talking about.
BTW, you have some pretty sharp posters on here today. Almost looks like an intelligent adult debate.

CAT FIGHT!
Roman responds: I hold posts until I can get to them. If they're obscene or gratuitously offensive, I won't post them. Unlike you, I don't have total recall, so I'm not sure if there was inconsistency about what I wrote about Griese. I liked the Bears picking him up. I liked the Bears giving Rex a chance and I liked them demoting Rex.
Anyway, you're more than welcome to stick around. As far as "catfight," yes, this can get juvenile. Maybe I'll keep a closer eye on that. But if we keep out juvenile, Bculz never will get to post.
In a way, blaming coaches is like blaming referees. Neither actually play in the game. The defense lost this one and admitted it. Tackling was pathetic, positioning for tackles even worse, and defensive reads mostly erroneous. A team can't win with that kind of defensive breakdown.Maybe things can be turned around, but being optimistic is tough at this point. Did you coach bashers forget that the Bears were in the Super Bowl under Lovie last year? Seems like Bear fan memories are pretty short.By the way, Roman, C- on Griese is about right. Rebecca and Julie, Meow! Meow!
Oh, and Griese sucks. When does the crowd start to boo him too?
Posted by: Julie B. | October 14, 2007 04:39 PM
We DO NOT Julie B., especially when he is throwing for nearly 300 years per game. He is doing his part! Receivers and running backs are expected to break tackles after a catch to get closer to the end zone if NOT scoring to end the drive. Bear Fans know with Robbie Gould, he can kick six out of seven field goals, and with touchdown score rather it is by the offense, special teams or defense is more than enough points to keep a team in accord to win the game.
******************************
Griese's stat line may show that he threw for 381 yds and 3 TDs but he was mostly unimpressive up until about 4 minutes left to go in the game. With another loss and another 2 INTs, Griese has now equaled Grossman in both W-L record (1-2) and INTS (6). And don't give me that Griese has thrown 7 TDs to Grossmans 1 TD crap.

Jesse, Griese was impressive regardless of how you view it. The game was exciting and not a lost cause. If you want to nit-pick over something, the only issue should be “HOW DID THE SPECIAL TEAMS ALLOW A RETURN OF OVER 50 YARDS, KNOWING THE GAME WAS ON THE LINE!?” Besides that I have no problem in how the Chicago Bears played and lost. The opposing team had a player with a career day! BUT GUESS WHAT!? We were still in the damn game with an opportunity to send it to over-time and win! This is what I expect of Bears and its players.
****************************
Good lord--Brian Griese throws for almost 400 yards, loses due to a defensive collapse, and yet people are blaming him?
I'm not a Griese fan, but does anyone here really think Rex Grossman could have kept the Bears in the game?
Posted by: darryl m | October 15, 2007 01:59 AM
Good Post darryl m!! And people will complain all week about the defense, the offense, BUT NOT SPECIAL TEAMS WHICH NEEDED TO MAKE A TACKLE at least at the 35 year line during the kick-off runback! Think about it everyone, even the defense stood up and made a play to make it a 55 yard field goal attempt by the opposing team to win the game. Special Teams NEEDED to make a play at that point!
GO BEARS! I CAN LIVE WITH THIS TYPE OF LOSS BECAUSE IT IS GOING TO EAT AT THE PLAYERS ALL WEEK KNOWING THEY CAN COME BACK & POSSIBLY WIN THE GAME! GO BEARS
Funny Noles, but you know I would kick ass in a cat fight.
Bears are in big trouble now as problems stretch past the ineffective offense of Weeks 1 to 5. The Defense was always the saving grace, the backbone of the team. Remember they won more than a few for the Bears last year when Bad Rex turned up under center. 232 Yards to one back. Yah - he's freakin good, but remeber how we stuffed LT and Larry Johnson. Don't think AP is that much better than them. Simply put - the sputtering Offense has broken the Defense. The Bears need to:
1) Sack Benson. He's slow, weak, fumbles and cant catch. Put in Wolfe. He's small but shifty. Need someone more mobile as O Line is not generating up-the-middle holes
2) Sack Turner. For all the reasons in previous blog entries
3) When their record slips beyond recovery try Orton one last time. He's a little older now and there is a tiny chance he has improved.
4) If that fails start scouting all top ten QB's. Big Sigh, It's time to start over!
5) Draft big "young" O-Line with all remaining picks
Crazy - a month a go many thought the Bears were going back to the Super Bowl and the Cubbies were breaking the curse. How quickly things change. Now if only the same could happen for the better.
I tried to go back and find who said it, but whoever said that we needed to Draft Matt Ryan from B.C. should get signed by the Bears Coaching staff IMMEDIATELY.
Id be happy to drop the next 10 games to get a chance at a QB like that. Is there a way to win out and still get him?
Any Free agent QB's we can go after? Griese is not the long term answer. I dont care how many games he almost wins this years.
Cards Sign Elizibeth Hasselbacks Husband.
Roman responds: I'd rather sign Rosie O'Donnell's wife.
Elizabeth Hasselback is hot. There is nothing, and I mean nothing sexier than a hot looking conservative woman. As for the Bears, like someone said earlier, they were extremely lucky last season. They had the easiest schedule in the league last year, and they were nowhere near a Super Bowl caliber team. They were just the best of a bad group of teams in the lowly NFC. Also, the demise of this defense should not be a surprise as the Bears D ranked 30th in the league last year over the last six games. BTW, I like the fire that Julie B. and Rebeka are showing on here. I have always liked women that are spunky.
Roman responds: Hot-looking conservative woman? That's a short list, and if you even mention Ann Coulter, I'm banning you for life. Hear that Culzie?
Roman: You'd rather sign Rosie O'Donnell's wife? I'd rather have Dog the Bounty Hunter's Wife -- as a fullback or middle linebacker. That woman is scary mean. Come to think of it -- maybe she would be better at center. The one we have right now seems lost.
The best thing I can say about Brian Griese is that he can handle a snap. I've never seen him fumble a snap once that I can recall. I'm sure if I'm wrong, Rebecka will straighten me out. Also, whoa baby on the 81-yard bomb! That's gotta be the longest pass of his career! (Becks?) I didn't think he could throw the long ball. But still, we are severely deficient at the QB position, let's face it. This team has no chemistry whatsoever. When one phase does it's part, another completely fails. Even the 2 wins were not convincing at all. I remember leaving Soldier Field after the Chiefs game and no one was really happy. More relieved than anything. And yesterday, it was downright disgust walking through that tunnel under Lake Shore Drive. We haven't seen a complete team effort yet this season, and the finger-pointing is only going to get worse. Something has to change, and quick. Maybe we can trade Ced for Shaun Alexander. New surroundings might serve them both well, and at the very least, half of Hitman's dream would come true.
BC: It's Hasselbeck, and I think you mean "acumen"???
And "grammar" is spelled with an a, not an e. What would you do with out me, BC?
bculz:
"Id be happy to drop the next 10 games to get a chance at a QB like that. Is there a way to win out and still get him?"
Where do you guys get ideas like this. Nobody wins by dropping games and hoping for next year. If we drop this season we'll get a highly [over]rated quarterback and lose Hester, Urlacher, Briggs, Harris, Brown, Ogunleye, Olsen, Manning, Clark, Vasher and Tillman. These players aren't going to play for a team that loses on purpose.
BearsFanMike:
"The blame for this loss goes to the Bears' defense for allowing over 300 total yards rushing"
Lance Briggs was the only Bears defender to tackle Adrian Petersen for a loss. He should be paid just as much as Urlacher.
"Also blame goes to Coach Smith for allowing Adrian Peterson to receive the final kickoff that he returned over 50 yds to get the Vikes within FG range.
"
Why kick the ball short on purpose? The result would be the same. Lovie's not going to make the same mistake on kickoffs that most teams make against Hester. Lovie's mistake was that he chose to onside kick just before they tied at 31. It didn't come back to haunt him but it was still a bad choice.
JohnF:
"They have done this over and over since Mr. Halas died: extended Wannstedt after two 9-7 seasons, Jauron after one 13-3 season, Smith after an 11-5 and 13-3 season. Why would they do this? Because they don’t know what a talented coach or GM looks like. All they see is the record and think they are smart – rather than lucky."
You can call it in extension if you like, but unless they tear up Lovie's Current contract it's nothing more than a lie to be found out after this season is over. Lovie is a good coach-he works with what he has. He's not going to switch from Benson to Person or Wolfe just because the fans don't like his stats. They didn't like Grossman's stats either and lo-and-behold Griese has been the starting quarterback in half of our season's losses so far. He's made just as many mistakes with almost none of the big throws like those we've seen from Grossman. You don't get "lucky" and have three years in a row of winning seasons.
Longwell got lucky.
At least the game was exciting. Griese came thru with two clutch passes at the end. All the Wrecks supporters should stop with the Griese bashing and start saying your bye byes to Wrecks Gross me out Man. Anyone miss Ron Rivera? I do.
Grossmans QB ratings for the first 3 games 53.7, 56.0, and 27.5. 1 TD / 6 INT.
Grieses QB ratings for his first 3 games 68.3(after 2 years of sitting on the bench), 97.8, and 89.2. 7TD and 6 INT. I highly doubt Griese will ever have a QB rating of 0.0 because only a special QB like Grossman can do something like that.
Ummm... Is this board closed?? With Rosie O'donnell's money don't you think she could have done better in the looks dept?
Any of you out there that thinks that Lovie Smith or Jerry Angelo can fix this mess, you need to have your head examined.
Who do you think created all of this? Exactly!
And you think THEY are going to fix it.
Really?
You really think so?
You really think Angelo has any consistent ability to select a productive player in the 1st or 2nd round of the draft (the "impact" players, for the most part)? Because he hasn't been able to so far - check out his history.
And even if he somehow stumbled into selecting someone good, do you really think Lovie Smith (or anyone else on his staff) would use him correctly, or not let someone else play ahead of him regardless of his ability (see Grossman/Benson history).
I realize many of you think I am being too pessimistic but look at what happened with Wanny, Jauron, and now Smith. Why are things going to be any different this time?
Why?
Good lord--Brian Griese throws for almost 400 yards, loses due to a defensive collapse, and yet people are blaming him?
I'm not a Griese fan, but does anyone here really think Rex Grossman could have kept the Bears in the game?
You heard it here folks--Kyle Orton will not get another chance to start for the Bears. I wish I were wrong--he plays good ball--but he'll fester under the Bears' poor management.
I feel most bad for Lovie, because he's going to take the fall for this.
"But if we keep out juvenile, Bculz never will get to post."

No press is bad press!
O.J.'s co-defendants are rolling on him.
Hey Roman,
remember that old saying "if you have two quarterbacks, you really have none." what about if you have 3.
I really don't care who starts as long as we win, and we haven't been winning. Watched a replay of Dallas/NE, man Brady has a sweet release. Are those mechanics really taught to a 6th round pick from (MICH?) He looks good, wish we had one. Everyone is harping on the return team, but that play only set up the last 3 points. What about the previous 31? Griese had about a C game, good call. This team just looks in disarray right now, and like one poster said best, I do think Mike Brown is the key.
You can't possibly take another chance next year of him getting injured again, can you?
yeahhh, goo cardsss
Does anyone besides me call their stadium the birdcage?...I think I'm the first
I wonder if Bryant Westbrook kills us next week
TJ and Hester .... the only bright spot on my team in fantasy news
For all those who think Griese is better than Rex: All those good plays, Griese had several seconds to look around. For that matter, all those pathetic dumpoffs he had several seconds. Rex usually had enough tim eto drop back and get hit. When Rex had time to pass he usually was successful. However, if RT doesn't call deep passes and show creativity more than every tenth play then does it matter who is at QB.
An earlier post complained that the only way Benson is any good is if the line creates a hole between the tackles. Not many RBs can get yards if they are hit three times in the backfield. If our line would block like Minnesota's did and MN blocked like our's did, what would AP and CBs numbers look like.
We need a new line and OC.
Bculz: I said weeks ago on here they need to draft Matt Ryan, 6'5" and a great passer. But knowing this organization, they will pass on him. When I said do what it takes to get him, he wasn't even being talked about for the Heisman, but he may win it and a National Title! Lets go BC!!
John F wins Best In Show for his post.
Meanwhile Donald sez: " ... our special team just had an off-play and let Peterson get too far up the field."
An off play???
The guy who called that play should have been fired on the spot, as should the numbskull who hired him. That was beyond stupid.
Gould can reach the end zone only on rare occasions, and should have squib kicked it as far away from Peterson as the field of play allowed.
Hell ... even an onside kick would have been preferable, and not resulted in the field position that AP's runback put them in.
Lovie is a dunce.
Chuck I'm only stating what is obvious to me. We had plenty of games last year where we got ran over. Funny how most of those backs weren't anywhere as good as Peterson but they did it anyway. Losing several players on Defense is killing this team. Letting a few go because we thought someone else was the answer is hurting the whole team. I said that Benson had to be a complete back last year but too many people said that he was this astounding runner. I didn't see it then and now everyone else is seeing it now. So many of you were so quick to get rid of Jones that they actually did what you guys wanted. Sitting Rex was also what you guys wanted. It's a shame but the BEARS actually appear to do things that you guys prescribe because they see that the public sentiment makes it easily accepted. Look at Briggs: when his contract was up and you guys didn't want him signed because he was benefitting from Urlacher's presense like Colvin and Holdman. Guess who didn't get signed. When Lovie's contract was up and they were going to let him sway in the breeze you guys came out and gave a consensus that it needed to be done. What happened? They signed him. You guys seem to get what you want and then you want even more. Yeah, we were lucky last year but what team wasn't? Why is it that the BEARS have to be worse off than anyone else because they got the benefit of luck like everyone else. And I'm sorry but why is Ron Rivera such a savior to our D and he wasn't even able to get a better job from anyone else. CHICO is an Inside LB coach!!! Why is that? Cream rise to the top. Chico is not the cream of the NFL crop but we feel like he did so much here. When you guys prop him up your football knowledge is easily questioned. But only in Chicago can the water boy from 85 get a shout out from the faithfuls. I'm not saying that Rivera is the waterboy but you guys will welcome anyone from 85 as a savior and a prophet. You do it in every sport and it borders on silly. That's why Paxton is a 1st time G.M. and Ozzie was a 1st time coach. And a WHOLE lot of you guys wanted Girardi when no one else seemed to want him for whatever reason. You guys hold on to your past too much. First it was 85 and now it's 06. Hey, that's just my opinion.
When the D plays great the offense cannot score and now the Offense scores 30 points again and they cannot stop anyone.
This is maddening!
Is there a real RB coming up in the draft?
I wanted a QB but not I am convinced that they need a RB even worse than a QB. Draft some O linemen while you are at it because this fell apart real fast.
After watching the Bears for 40 years now I have seen this mess enough times to last me for the rest of my life. Why do I get excited year after year only to be let down again?
Just give Rosie the jock strap and helmet - see what she can do!
WRD,
you are absolutely right. I am a little partial to Rivera over Babich, because at least Rivera realized what his talent could do in the cover 3 they were playing last season. I am not complaining about Griese or Benson, even though Benson is a bigger problem now, I haven't said it because most of the posters already know what is wrong is the offensive line, did we implement a new line scheme or something, or have we always been so brutal on the line. My main theory is that the offensive line can make even an average QB look good.
Sitting Rex is not what I wanted, I said give him at least 2 more games against defenses he should succeed against, but yes, Bears fans are getting what they deserved. About TJ, I didn't like his style, but I would have not traded him for a bag of chips like the Bears did. Personally, I would have traded him for Tatum Bell, or a back of different style than Benson, and Benson needs help.
Would not have gotten Moss, but Stallworth was on my mind. We need another 3 lineman (right and left guard and RT). Could still win with either G-man or Griese, but our line has to play better. Liked Darwin Walker, Arch(we all make mistakes), but hoped the move to FS would keep Brown on the field all season. Wanted either Boss Bailey, or another LB bad, Even Holdman, not sold on Hillenmeyer.
Like you said, why go cheap when we were so close. We need some franchise lineman, and a real speed back. A gamebreaking WR. Could we trade with NY Jets for the Moss kid, and not what we got. We got sold down the river with this thing now, and I hope they can dig themselves out. Looks like the Vikes replaced Robert Griffith.
Note to Brian Griese:
Forgive them, Brian, for they know not from which orifice they speak. Now, go and single-handedly beat the Eagles on Sunday.
Recipe for a better Bears offense:
Stick with Griese.
Get Hester, Olsen and Clark on the field more.
Stick with Benson.
Lose earpiece that communicates with Ron Turner.
Sit Muhammad, Bradley and Davis.
Whatever play Ron Turner calls, audible immediately (if you can't lose earpiece).
Take advantage of mismatches (e.g., Olsen on anyone, Hester on anyone)
Run Benson between the tackles.
Use the play action pass more often.
Succeed at long, slow drives that eat clock, because it keeps the defense off the field.
Play to win.
One more thought:
Put away last year's press clips (you too, Lovie), as Springsteen sang in Glory Days:
"Yeah, just sitting back trying to recapture
A little of the glory of, well time slips away
And leaves you with nothing mister but
Boring stories of glory days"
GREAT POST SEEDY!!!!!!!!!!! GLORY DAAAAAYZ! ALRIGHT! OOOOH YEAH!
Back before the season was in full swing Roman asked what we were worried about with this team. I said the O-line was old, Benson wasn't a complete back and Rex might get the hook. I need to play the lottery because it all came true. And it was an off-play with that kick-off. I for one didn't expect Peterson to run it back so far. Especially with holding penalties called so easily on special teams. The guy wasn't considered to be Hester-like when it came to special teams. But leave it up to Chicagoans to expect the worst. How do you guys watch sports knowing that we're gonna lose before the game is even over. Am I wrong? Look at the number of empty seats in the 4th quarter of the last game. Pure Chicagoan. You guys kill me. Please do not tell me that Grossman would have gotten us back into the game like Griese did. Rex would've done something stupid and you guys would have defended him with that "only his 35th game" crap or comparisons to some other QB who stunk when he was younger. Rex hasn't done anything special since the league figured him out. He limped to the finish line and we went to the Superbowl inspite of his seaon-ending play. Someone recently asked why Rex became the national whipping boy. Easy. He stinks whenever he has a nationally broadcasted game and that's all the rest of the world knows about him. Name one nationally broadcasted game where his was even Average Rex? But leave it to my Chicago brethren to see what the world can not see. If you are, say, stuck in wisconsin you're stuck watching the Pack. When you finally get a BEARS' game Rex was looking like Craig Krenzel or Kris Kringle. So what else is there to believe. I'm sorry but I doubt he's going to "Harbaugh" you. No he won't become Superman once he leaves. Stop aiming high with him and accept the fact that he's more like Rick Mirer: talented but utterly clueless. And even though Rex and Griese have the same record you can't compare what they both did in each of those games. Griese gave us a chance when Rex either couldn't or didn't. Who is sitting on another's team bench who is way better than Griese? Don't throw stones at a guy when great QB aren't growing on trees. Draft a guy and have him mess up as bad as Rex did a few times and these fans will ruin him with their expectations. Forget the "only his first season" mantra. You know full well that you guys don't have time to groom a QB. You didn't want to groom Rex last year because he was keeping you from the Superbowl. Remember? All this hand wringing and finger pointing after a close loss. If we lost 34-0 I would gripe too. But we lost and that's that. GO BEARS!!
Hitster...if TJ is your only FF bright spot...you are in trouble buddy.
Bruce forgot the second part of that Song....
Born is the USA......
but...couldnt hack it...so I......Packed up and moved to Venezuela
JB..i was only mispelling to showcase....your awesome Language Arts Correction skills!
No joke...Roman...you should call someone over at the Bears Coaching staff hotline...and recomend Kman to their scouting team.
Dude..has vision....maybe he is just a BC homer (and lord..or er uh..i mean) Touchdown Jesus knows I dont like that....but I have to give him credit when credit is due.
Matt Ryan will be the AD of next years draft.
Jeff:
"O.J.'s co-defendants are rolling on him."
I guess he won't be eligible for the draft next year. Another potential Bears runningback pick goes down the drain.
Jeff-
"They had the easiest schedule in the league last year, and they were nowhere near a Super Bowl caliber team."
If actually being in the Superbowl doesn't make you a Superbowl-caliber team then why would anyone want to be a Superbowl caliber team if it doesn't help them get to the Superbowl? Superbowl caliber teams need Superbowl caliber cities to make them Superbowl caliber.
The Viking defenders didn't gain psychic powers during the offseason. They caught those picks because they were thrown off-target.
No anti Venuezula posts?
I hear the Bears are trying to make a deal for J.Jones RB Dallas?
Any one heard that rumor?
Would be nice fit.
Notre Dame boy could start now, good hard runner.
Sure, Culzie. So from here on out, it's perfect spelling and grammar for you? We'll see about that!
But leave it up to Chicagoans to expect the worst. How do you guys watch sports knowing that we're gonna lose before the game is even over. Am I wrong? Look at the number of empty seats in the 4th quarter of the last game. Pure Chicagoan. You guys kill me.

Arent you a Chicagoan?
oh wait...
your one of those....WE win, You lose guys? I forgot!
I like the JJ roomer!
That would be nice...and...oh..im sure no love loss that they packed up HIS BROTHER and SHIPPED HIM OUT, cause he couldnt get along with Ced.
Im sure that would be a great locker room.
Jeff you need to cut it with all of that "easy games", "easy schedule". If you think the Bears had it easy then prove it. Quit your job right now and go try to join one of the "easy" teams. I guarantee that you wouldn't make it through the front door. There is no such thing as easy at this stage of the game.
Am I the only person who saw the comeraderie on this team last year; the video clips of Thomas Jones hugging lovie on the sidelines after they beat the Saints? After the season was over and Lovie still didn't have a contract, it wouldn'tve taken a genius to figure out that the McCaskeys were going to replace him with a white coach for the next superbowl run. That's a real morale-killer. I'm not surprised that TJ would leave after that.

What sucks is Tuesday is my favorite day of the week....I like to say Tuesday...not kidding.... can't do deals, tho.. last I checked...after Tuesday ...but you're right and dead on in concerns to a trade we can do...AND NO...I don't know the cap hit Ced would bring on this deeal....freaking Benson
Cedric goes to Dallas....Texas boy should love it...and his best chance in the nfl....until he can't beat out Marion Barber..ha...the third....but cool for us...We get JJ...but we're not done..
We give our 2nd round pick in 08 to the Jets...yep...trade back...get TJ back....and duh...keep the pick we got from them or swap it because of position...whatever
Now, three years after I freaking said it...TJ and JJ in our back field...you can subtract 1-2 years off of TJ's age in that scenario...Payton fanatics those two...If Chicago is a running team...might as well spend the money
I'd keep Garret Wolfe....cuz that would give us 3 legit backs... and let AP seek a payday...he's earned it...love that guy....I'm thinking Atlanta would deal for him
hmmm
Just like when I posted on their freaking message board....ehh h'em...3 years ago... to pick up Jeff George as a back up...I was vilified...ok, it was kinda funny....95 replies in 15 seconds.....evidently my back up conclusion didn't suck......3 years freaking later.....Miller hurt many times... and after having to watch steve walsh's arm....good ole #11 is holding a clipboard...and then they banned my IP???....proof they want to lose.....and that I have a big mouth...

Trading is over for the season. So don't expect any deals to be made. They can only go for a guy who's a free agent right now ,so that's not happening. And I can call Chicagoans anything that I like. You've never even lived in the city long enough to call yourself a Chicagoan. Am I right Suburbanite? From all that other stuff I wrote and that's the only thing that riled you up? What, you couldn't defend anything I said about your QB who's sporting a baseball cap? You backed a bad horse and a slow footed Running Back and now you want to take it out on someone. Go ahead my man. If it's gonna make you feel better go right ahead. I'm not a WE win and you lose guy. That doesn't even make sense. Not like I'm trying to make sense of anything you say. I just don't waste my time being negative. Wasn't I the guy who stated that WE might go on a good run even after this loss? I know they say that the heat isn't bad it the humidity but you need to get out of the Arizona sun. Your(or is it YOU'RE) brain is fried.
bculz, sorry about that totally forgot they were brothers.......
you don`t think I care do you? Thats how we got stuck with Rex ,but thats another story.
I am so sick of pampering athletes.
Bring in someone now! While the fans still care because after bye
week it could be to late.
Where is this depth chart that was so loaded with talent?
We had 6 RB or more now we can`t find one.Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!
This team went bad real fast.
Angelo go find some PLAYERS!!!!!NOW.Now the DEFENSE IS DEAD TOO.
Keylan
Don't come on this blog and drop the "white coach" crap. While I agree that the comraderie is not the same as last year, I don't think the McCaskeys were looking to dump the Lovie-ster for "a white coach for the next superbowl."
Come on, you're better than that. Whatever you're smoking, put it down.
I don't understand W.Donalds's constant whining about Grossman. Get over it, he's benched. He was a big part of the offense last season despite having 4 1/2 terrible games. I'd gladly take last years offense right now, with a good running game and a QB who can throw deep, which opens up the running game. And I don't mean a QB who comes to life in the last 2-3 minutes of a game. The defense played it's best last season when the offense gave them a lead early in the game. As far as Grossman on national TV, he had 3 games with over 100 QB rating, 2 of them in weeks 10 and 14. As for defenses figuring him out, how did he finish the last 4 games with a rating of 114, 104, 80(1 td, no int's or fumbles) and then a bad last game which meant nothing to the standings and playoffs, and in which he knew he was only playing part of the game. You should check the facts Bub. I also think he does have a chance of being a starting QB in the NFL.
"Whatever you're smoking, put it down."
I'll consider it, after a few more puffs.

I try to call them challenged ...not that I agree with it... but we're supposed to be nicer or something like that...
who else is "handicapping" the draft already?
culzie...your cedric....weenolike....TJ and JJ....admit it...let's end this bet now..... and make you the hood ornament on this bandwaggon, baby!!!!!!
Just say JJ and TJ...sing it culz!!!
I can care less how many over 100 QB ratings that Rex had in any games. And who may I ask,Bub, were they against? The simple fact of the matter is that the guy wasn't exactly a saviour as much as he benefitted from having Jones who knew enough to play ball to help him out. His star fell when TJ was traded. And the last time I mentioned Rex was to let certain people know that they are only mad at me because he's not playing anymore. In actuality I DID get over it. But all you guys who want to down Griese because he isn't Rex has to be told the truth. Whatever Rex did last year doesn't amount to a hill of beans because there has to be things that they saw that he did or didn't do that wasn't cutting it. A future franchise QB wouldn't sit regardless what his team record was. Two guys with long-term contracts really have nothing to lose by letting him learn even more on the job. Wouldn't matter how many games they lost because eventually they would reap the rewards of having that hard to find franchise QB. It appears they're still looking. And, if Griese comes alive after 3 1/2 quarters that's great. But really with the exception of the 1st Minnesota game Rex didn't ever get hot after being cold. Mention the 100 plus ratio but why not mention the 0.0 and the 1.3. Even Henry(Burris) the great didn't post that bad. Wanna know how much his was figured out: how many defenders ran back TDs on his INTs? Our defense would've posted better numbers without those picks. So yeah, you're right he helped the whole team. We had a great team because Maynard pinned them back on punts whenever the offense was ineffective and the D started them out deep in their own territory which limited what the other team's Offense could do. Facts. And with the number of bad QB holding down back up positions and starters getting hurt I'm sure he will play again. Vinny is still getting that call ain't he? But once he does they'll start the Good Rex/ Bad Rex watch all over again. Did it matter to many people that Orton won 11 games in his first year? He's been on the bench for almost two years now. It's not what you've done it's what they believe you can do. Was that enough WHINE for you guys? Take whatever you want to out on me and your guys(Benson and Rex) are still scrubs UNTIL further notice. Have a great weekend..
Roman responds: Bculz, I deleted your post because I was tired of this feud, but I shouldn't have. If you want to respond to this, go ahead.
It's "your."
You're welcome.
ATTENTION ALL MATT RYAN BANDWAGONERS: Does anyone realize this guy plays behind perhaps the best offensive line in college football? He would be relegated to less than a mere mortal behind the Bears 'O' line. Not only that, let's wait to see what he can do against someone other than Massachusetts, Army, B. Green, Wake, and N. Dame.
ANY Q.B. with height and average arm would be a success behind the Boston College line and the early schedule, but he has no foot speed at all and is currently rated behind 34 other college Q.B.s.
Not spectacular for a supposed stud behind such a massive line and weak schedule.
Big Q.B.s to also keep your eyes on (as far as seniors go) are Dixon (Oregon), Woodson (Kentucky), Ainge (Tennessee), and Harper (Clemson). Not one of these gentlemen will rank lower than Ryan come draft time.
I know Julie. I rarely get them mixed up along with they're and their. I may have gone to public school but I "learnt" a thing or two. And don't forget to mention that you deleted several of my posts for the same reason,Roman. You make it seem like it's open season on William and it's okay to fire away. There wouldn't be a feud if he didn't attack everything I said in the first place. Why does he feel that it's necessary to keep it up? You should get to the root of that before you censor this "unnecessary feud". GO BEARS!!!
Roman responds: I'm contemplating the first ever "Full Court Press Cage Match." Keith LSS will be the ref.
William, relax. You're too tense. Hitman asked a question and I answered. If you had a grammatical error, I missed it. Your posts have a lot of words.
Where was I tense? I just don't rollover to insults. I tell it like like I see it. Men are supposed to understand that. I have nothing to lose responding to any slight or opinion. If it appears that I'm tense or intense it's all about me not taking any crap from anyone. And yeah, Keith would be a great ref because he's always fair. Even when guys jump on his opinion he's tells HIS truth.
I just wanted to know what the hell he meant by "you chicagoans?"
thats all..
sounds like im not the only one who cant make heads or tails from WRD's posts. But, thats why hes good for the blog, he causes reactions and passionate responses. Im not mad attim.
Although...when it comes to finger pointing WRD, they say that the one pointing, is usually the most guilty.
Anyways....
what else can we talk about?
I don't think it was a matter of understanding my posts, it's a matter of disagreeing with my Grossman assessment. And Hitman thought I was making fun of heat stroke or whatever. I wasn't. After working in hospitals for 18 years I don't make fun of any ailment because I'm compassionate with what someone is going through because it could easily be anyone including me. Health has a way of going down hill faster than you can see. I've seen guys who were walking down the street one moment and hospitalized for months or years the next. When you see sick people either you care or care less. I happened to be one of those guys that cared. I just don't see any reason to try and pick arguments. I am passionate about my opinions just like the next guy. I don't see why guys have a tendency to reprint part of someone's posts and then give some kind of critique. I don't like when people do mine or others. Some of you guys have a tendency to jump on people unfairly like some of you did Rebecka. Yeah, she was kind of savant when it came to Griese but that's who she is. Some of you guys jumped on her like she stole from your mama. That was your passion and that's just something you wanted to do. I'm not even talking about Julie and Rebecka's back and forth because they're women and equal with their passion. It just seemed like you men were trying to bully her because of her stats. They say people shouldn't talk about race, politics, or religion. But maybe they should include sports too because of the same reasons...
I guess we ARE one big dysfunctional family. Aint no family without a little skirmish every now and then. I wish we could go at it with another Blog! That would solve a lot and unify us! What we are experiencing is like training camp fights! I would love to go at it with some NY, Detroit, or Green Bay posters! I'd bet Philly has some feisty posters! We would tear them to shreds!
See if you can work that out Roman.
Like a Big Blog Mixer??!!
"Yeah, she was kind of savant when it came to Griese but that's who she is"
WRD
(Is it ok to reprint part of your post when I compliment you?) Cause this line had me blow soda out of my nose all over my keyboard!!!!!!
Secondly BigWilly, you know you love the attention, and also, if you werent a worthy interlocketuer then nobody would bother re-posting anything you say at all. Just know that 99.99% of what I say is an attempt to be "humorous" and always said tongue and cheek. Except when you "step on mine...cause then you push the button.......and Ill **** you down like it aint nuffin"
im kidding..i know how you love you some Cube Quotes.
Keith...good comment about being a big disfuntional cyber family...it almost brought an eTear to my eye. I guess that makes you Greg Brady and Hitman is cousin Oliver and Roman is Mike BRady...and..JB can be Marsha and Rebeka is alice and WRD is Peter....and...Seedy can be Cindy...(we only have two girls who post, so someone has to be)...and Ill be Sam the Butcher!!!
Peter Brady?? Well it's time to change.. I'd rather be Greg. Even with his Jonny Bravo crap he was somewhat cool for the 60s and 70s. Com'n.. "Pork chops and applesauce." That's the only cool thing that Peter ever said. And you know full well that you're used to sticky stuff being on your keyboard. Just that it's soda THIS time. :)
Ok....Greggy!!!!
