Lloyd Carr obviously loves Michigan, so why doesn't he love it enough to leave? I'm not a UM fan, but it's even uncomfortable for me to watch this program disintegrate. Meanwhile, I figured ND's offense would suffer without Brady Quinn, but did anybody see THIS coming?
It will be interesting to see how the alumni deal with Charlie Weis. Suddenly Ty Willingham doesn't look so bad, does he ND Nation?
All this talk about how good Weis' draft classes are rings meaningless in light of the program's downward spin.
Roman sez: "It will be interesting to see how the alumni deal with Charlie Weis. Suddenly Ty Willingham doesn't look so bad, does he ND Nation?"
Roman ... the Notre Dame alumni will feed this egotistic pig to the wolves.
An arrogant, self absorbded, condescending crature like Weis will be fed to the wolves (but not the Wolverines, because that would be a stalemate) and his tenure at ND will be a lot shorter than his guaranteed contract.
He's a jerk; and Brady Quinn is lucky that he got out of there alive.
Roman - You really don't understand how things work, do you? The reason Willingham was fired was PRIMARILY because he was an awful, awful recruiter. Look at the seniors starting on the team right now. They're Willingham recruits. (Travis Thomas????) Why are you throwing the book at Charlie Weis when his excellent recruits haven't matured yet and he still has to work through the trash of the past? All I can see when I watch an ND game is "wow, Clausen and Allen are going to be awesome". And here you are saying "wow, gee, Weis is terrible, because he can't even make the team good when the seniors belong to possibly the worst recruiting class ND has ever seen."
Might I remind you that Brady Quinn was NOT recruited by Willingham, and that Willingham only gave him a look because of his best friend, Chinedum Ndukwe (whom Ty DID recruit) convinced him to, and Quinn almost didn't even get a scholarship because Willingham was such an ignoramus. Willingham is a terrible, terrible footballman. Oh, and one more thing....
WILLINGHAM PUNTED FROM THE OPPOSING 30 YARD LINE.
Talk to me in 2 years Roman, or maybe even next year. The slogan may be "tradition never graduates", but the fact of the matter is, when you had an awful recruiter before you and good players graduate, you're going to have to go through a rebuilding time, no matter how good a coach you are.
I "A week after getting stunned by Appalachian State, the Wolverines
were handed their worst beating since before Bo Schembechler worked the sideline at the Big House.
The Wolverines haven't won a game since Schembechler died the day before the Ohio State game last year."

It's the ghost of Woody Hayes, I tell ya!
They're both obviously in Hell; but Woody got there first, and is no doubt one of Satan's favorites.
This is the only way possible to explain why a powerhouse like Michigan hasn't won a single game since the death of Woody's arch rival.
Finally ... Woody has Bo right where he wants him.
They fired Ty Willingham after 3 seasons, lets see what they do with this overated slob Weiss. This is his 3rd year and he'll be lucky to win 3 games!!!
Notre Dame, Michigan, Texas, Miami, and Oregon...the programs I like the best...
Michigan will beat ND
ND is painful to watch...It's Clausen...and that's it...poor kid...he showed me a lot more than what his stats dictate....
ND is in major trouble...no line...no skill position players...and these are all supposed to be Weiss's guys?
Watched the Ducks blow out Michigan and then ND puked all over the field....lol, then I watched LSU...Holy God...no need to worry about Michigan's future...their new coach is busy winning a national championship this year...LSU won't even be in a "close" game this year....wow
Notre Dame is worse this year and worse off for the future as it stands
ND is worse! I believe Michigan is going to turn thangs around! Charlie is right by acting arrogant. You have to look and act the part. It gives you leverage come contract time or else they Lovie Smith yah. Ty was a nice guy and he got a short hook. Nice didn't work for Dusty Baker either. Cubs are going to choke, and even if they don't they aint going nowhere. They are only alive because they spent 300 milion. Dusty could have done the same thing with this year's team but he was not as arrogant as Lou and didn't get the benefit of the doubt.
Roman, how good would you say are the defenses of PSU and GT? Are they better than the defenses of Appalachian St and Oregon? The answer is obviously and resoundingly yes. Michigan's defense is far worse than ND's right now and that should give ND the edge.
It's like comparing Rex vs the 49 ers and Rex vs the Chargers. Therre is no comparison. It's like Dr Jekyl and Mr. Hyde. Against Michigan's extremely weak defense Clausen should find scoring opportunities. When your defense has to play most of the game you are bound to breakdown and run out of energy. That's what's happened to ND in their first two games. The game stayed close in the first half and broke out in the 2nd. That won't happen against Michigan because ND will be able to move the football against the clawless Wolverines.
Roman- everyone knew ND was going to have trouble winning this year with the loss of all the starters, mainly Brady Quinn. I don't know if I saw "this" coming but I did see ND fans suffering a couple of years until some of these boys mature. I will admit I thought that Wies would field a better defence then he has. We will see. I think they have a couple of upsets up their sleeves this year.
Who is worse? realistically ND but since Mich is more of a shock and let down, it might be them on the whole.
And in the end Roman, everyone knows, win or lose, Notre Dame is God's team. ;)
As a Michigan State alum, I'm just sorry they both can't be 0-3 after this weekend!
JC looked solid. I think they will get better this year and by the time Charlie has his boys in all four classes, they will be SCARY GOOD.
Michigan should commit program suicide they are so bad!

What a cry baby...

Culzie, you've gotta watch this:

I swear I had nothing to do with it.
"And in the end Roman, everyone knows, win or lose, Notre Dame is God's team. ;)"
Then apparently God doesn't like winners. ;)
With the light response to this topic, it would seem that no one really cares. My initial response was: "Who cares?" I have always thought there werte toommany Notre Dame games telecast when more meaningful contests were available. That will probably continue even if the number one team plays the number two when a mediocre Notre Dame team is playing some other mediocre team.
How they Picked South Bend as the place for the school.
Lou Holtz said, that when the priests were traveling across the country looking for a place to put their university, the fathers got caught in a huge snow storm in Indiana. They promises they would resume the search when the storm lifted. It never did.
I was an ND student during the Faustian era...ND is a fine school w/a fine football program but they are like nearly every other college program --imperfect. But shhhh, you can't say that.
This alum doesn't really care who wins.
Charlie was schooled by Bill 'the voyeur' Belechick and I hope the honeymoon is over for him. I think Demetrius Jones' defection may be telling. Or not. Whatever.
If ozzie gets fired next year (not my wish) maybe he'll invite Charlie down to Caracas to go boating with him after Charlie is 'let go'....
I'm not a Notre Dame fan, but as a Chicagoan, I was hoping D.J. would have gotten a fair shake at Q.B. especially seeing how raw the 'O' line is. Giving him 19 running plays in 20 chances was a shaft job Joey Lombardo would have been proud of. Now we see J.C. taking a pummeling. Way to go Charlie. Hello N.I.U.
As an alumnus I'm looking for answers. What happened to the Irish offensive line? Are these Weis recruits playing or are they leftovers from Ty's time as a coach? If these are Weis recruits then God help us.
I had no idea the line would be this bad. The play were MI rushes 4 and all 4 sack the QB was ugly. The line looked utterly pathetic. The one guard seemed so over-matched that he played like a grade schooler. He fell to his knees hoping the guy would trip over him. Unbelievably pathetic!
Alumni want to know: how did this happen?
So Demetrius Jones transfers to NIU.
He went to college to play football and it is obvious he isn't going to do much of that any more in South Bend. The smart move is doing it when he did so he doesn't waste another year. He made one mistake--signing with Notre Dame--and it cost him two years of his life. Oh well, cut your losses short, learn from your mistakes and move on. A life lesson. A college education is more than just books and football.
