ND fans, name your QB

Charlie Weis is being coy, but is there any doubt Jimmy Clausen will be there against Ga. Tech?

Hate to say it, but I'm guessing Demetrius Jones ends up at a receiver position at some point, even though I'm not sure he isn't the best quarterback in camp.

Part of this is just protocol. Recruits rated as high as Clausen don't sit, regardless of whether it's fair.

When it comes to Notre Dame' Im with JC!

It'll be Jimmy. Getting him experience now will give ND the best shot at winning 2-3 years from now.

Hard to say what Weis is going to do because Clausen is such a pure passer, a big kid and natural quarterback who probably reminds him of Brady. No doubt he suits Charlies' offensive philosophy to a 'T'. But, and I do mean BUT, if the young offensive line doesn't jell well enough in spring training, I'm playing the athlete (Jones) before the passer. His 'O' line may be deeper this year but it's awfully young and inexperienced. Tech is FAST: I'm playing Demetrius, or throwing on first down a whole lot...

Claussen already looks like a polished pro from what I've seen on youtube. This kid's going to be the starter. Starting a freshman might not help ND win a BCS game this year, but they'll grow as a team around this kid.

I'd really like Zbikowski to knock a few more dudes out in the ring. I think that's great.

I'm curious as to who the media will overrate as Notre Dame's quarterback this year as well, Roman.

My great grandpa went to ND, my grandpa went there and was a gold gloves boxer, my grandma went to st.marys across the street (back then ND was all male), my father was born on the campus, and I coached a AAU basketball game on the floor of the arena.

Whoever Charlie Weiss decides is the QB will be good. If hes a freshman, thats just scary for the rest of football for the next 4 years. JC is the man!

LETS GO ND!!!

Boy, I sure hope it's Clausen, just so I can have the pleasure of seeing the next Ron Powlus throw the ol' pigskin at Over-rated U. And sorry to disagree with you, "bculz", but I don't see how Clausen would be striking fear in the hearts of any ND opponents this year if he was the starter.

Was there ever a doubt who would be starting? Every QB on that team shoulda transfered outta there....This is the same Clausen as the other two, right?....

If nothing else, we're gonna find out how durable he is....cuz he's gonna take a beating...ND will be lucky to win 6 games this year

yes, they would be better served to have a QB with athletic ability this year

Remember, Jeff George was the #1 QB recruit in the country...so, you lost me with the #1 recruit thing

This kid is from the same Clausens and the Clausens I remember, right? LOL...get my point?

I meant more the next couple years, than this year. But, we will see!

Seems to be alot of guys that don't know to much about football writing on this topic. Weis said it best, "The amount of talent that is NOW coming into Notre Dame will have a big difference then years past, with not that many talented players coming here." For the guy who calls them Over-Rated U, how can you say that, atleast 90 percent of the kids there graduate, with something other than cookie baking Majors. Their one of the only teams with this stat and still put a great team together year in and year out. Even though they haven't won a bowl game in a while, or that travisty of a game a couple years ago, where the refs won it for USC, it just goes to show you that Notre Dame being a Catholic school gets discriminated against...ALL THE TIME!
Even have the video to prove it...

Really??? I mean really???

Ever since the NCAA got on board and found more money can be generated by putting ND in a major bowl they find a way to put them in there. Not because you guys travel better than anyone else. Simply because people will tune in to see ND play even if they are NOT ND fans. Maybe just to see them get pounded. It’s the “Yankees factor.”
As far as the “over-rated” part? The guy is talking about ND being over-rated.. NOT graduation rates! Do you think Harvard pulls out stats like that when they get rolled by… LEHIGH??? It is not your fault they put you in there against teams that were just better. It really isn’t!
To be honest? I am happy to see you guys get decent talent in there. Maybe the bowl games you guys get thrown into (“or discriminated”) that are astonishingly boring will be better to watch.

dj all the way next vince young weis knows it he'll beat usc like him vy win 2 bowls like vy watch first game

Joe Montana.

They should have disbanded the team after he graduated because it's been all downhill since then.

I hope that the staples in Weis's stomach hold tight during what promises to be a gut wrenching season for the Fighting Irish.

In any event, he'd still better stock up on Malox, TUMS, and Tagamet. (I believe that Scotch and milk is a prohibited medication according to NCAA rules)

It will take all the luck of the Irish in order for them to win more than six or seven games this season, although I must asy that it would be ironic if Notre Dame gave USC it's only loss of the season, and bumped them out of the BSC Championship game.

That alone would make the year a success.

Hi. My vote is for Jimmy Clausen because he is the #1 rated QB prospect in the last 25 years. AND...Illinois will be terrible..AGAIN!

Listen Now!!!!! Demetrius Jones Will Start against Georgia Tech and for the rest of the season!!! Clausen will realize Jones is not going to hand him the Job. Jones will never play reciever.

It really didn't matter now, did it? All three sucked in an embarrasing 33-3 home loss.

How about Josh Fields of the White Sox. Poor Notre Dame, they better schedule DeVry and the Chubb Institute next year. HA HA

Looks like Clausen was the wrong answer in another embarrasing loss. Next.
