BUEHRLE'S NO-HITTER!

| | Comments (31)

What a game. Grand slam, great defensive plays, pick-off of the only base-runner - who happened to be Sammy Sosa.

Yeah eat that shmuckinwisconsin!!.Dye Grand Slam!!! Buerhle NO HITTER!!! Texas one of the best hitting clubs in baseball...BLANKED. SOX WIN!!! GO SOX!!!!
Run yer mouth now!!!

Boy,did the Southsiders take full advantage of Karma. Wasn't Buehrle supposed to be washed up?

Was a beautiful day in the neighborhood! Buehrle saved an otherwise gloomy day in Chicago! He's a true horse! Kenny, lock him up! I hope it ignites the club and the others follow suit. Sammy got us two days in a row! Looks like he still has a lil left in the tank. Was so beautiful I stayed up to watch ALL of the post game stuff. Had to get the taste of the Bulls out of my mouth.

OMG! What a game! You could feel Buehrle's zone from the first inning, which lasted all of 3 minutes. After a while, the crowd was hanging on every pitch. I was at the game and didn't hear the words "no-hitter" uttered by anyone the whole game. We all knew we were seeing something special. It was just a random Wednesday, no hype, just there to watch the Sox. What a treat!

Is it me, or is Sammy plump again? If it's good enough for Barry (who used to have a physique like Lionel Ritchie), it's must be good enough for Sammy.

I turned on the game late on mlb.tv and then all of a sudden I knew what was going on... my wife wanted to know what I was so suddenly excited about but I didn't want to say it out loud (you know, that's bad luck) so she asked me the score - I said "Sox winning 6 to 0... kinda hard to score when the other team has all the hits." She didn't get it, so I pulled up the line score and pointed to the "0" in the "H" column for the Rangers, she still didn't quite get it so I scrolled to the bottom of Yahoo's scorebox (by now it was down to the final out and the crowd was yelling "BUEHRLE! BUEHRLE!") where it said "Mark Buehrle is pitching a no-hitter through 8 2/3 innings" and she finally got it, but I hushed her before she could say anything. Yes, I'm superstitious.

But, here I am before the game going "I've got a bad feeling... the Rangers own Buehrle." Boy was I wrong.

Keith Sowa - beautiful post!

Classic.

I'll give you one good reason that Buehrle is on his way back to his dominant form of '05, he's finally letting A.J. catch his games again. As you all remember last year, A.J. didn't play every fifth game last year because Buehrle wanted Sandy Alomar to catch his games. As much as I loved Sandy, he's out of town and no one should be more thankful than Buehrle. Let's hope this is a jumpstart for the SOX and a preview of how Buerhle's year plays out!

Having had the misfortune of being raised a Cubs fan with an ingrained disdain for the Sox sometimes it's difficult to express any joy for the south siders. But with having lived now for th past 3 plus years in western NY and being surrounded by the mindless cult known as Yankee fans any success of the Sox gives me great pleasure because I dislike the yankees immensely. Buehrle pitched a masterful game and although it was flawed by the one walk to Sosa the pick-off was great! To face the absolute minimum number of batters is a tremendous feat, kudos to Buehrle and the sox. Keep it up and give me more ammo to ue against the CULT!

Drew72 - Come on man, you know White Sox fans don't have to brag.

EVEN WHEN WE HAVE A RIPE OPPORTUNITY TO DO SO!

We just sit and let Cub Fans simmer in their Cubbie Blue, until they throw the next temper tantrum....*smile*

But I am not going to stand in the way of your boasting though!!

WHITE SOX WIN! GO WHITE SOX!! aaawww what the hell, go ahead Drew72 tell them loser Cubbies ( I just couldn't help it, Drew72 made me do it)...*lol*

Noone on the staff deserved a no-hitter more than Buehrle. What a great moment for him, the team and the Sox fans.

What a great game Buehrle pitched. I thought for sure his best days were behind him. He looked terrible all last season after the great Oz left him in to take a beating from the Cubs. I still can't figure that one out. Maybe this will inspire the rest of the staff. Way to go Mark.

Buerhle pitched a gem !Something fans who attended will remember for decades! I attended game for Burdettes (Braves)no hitter in 1960 vs. Phillies at county stadium. Now sox how about some offense.

Lost in all of this was that great move by Ozzie who once again, drew all the attention to himself with that Sosa jive. Was a momentum changer. Buehrle is the kind of guy you like to see do that.

Keith, if I'm not mistaken, wasn't the quote about Sosa "Be ready Sammy, you're going to get TO hit?" (In other words, meaning he would rather pitch to Sammy than Teixeira in a clutch situation, which makes a whole lot more sense in the context of what he was saying). I can't recall the exact quotes, but Ozzie has supported Sammy lately. I don't see him coming out in the media and saying "Ok let's go bean Sosa."

Sorry, you-know-who's anti-Sox rants carry little to no credibility to me and I can't take them at face value.

Big deal. Rich hill has a 0.41 era through three games. That's BIG news. Oh and Fortune magazine rate the Whitesox as one of the lowest valued teams(that means 'worthless') in baseball. Good thing only 14 people wasted there breath(or typing) in this thread. Now maybe the sox can get more than a bag of baseballs when the trade Buehrle. I doubt it though. No-hitters are meaningless. Especially on a meaningless team.

"Rich hill has a 0.41 era through three games." Yes, 1/10th of the games he's likely to start this season. Let's revisit his ERA in July.

"Good thing only 14 people wasted there breath . . ." Good thing your parents didn't waste much money on your education.

"No-hitters are meaningless. Especially on a meaningless team." Then we shouldn't have to worry about you making any posts in this forum in the unlikely event Fat Z throws a no-no, given that the Cubs are worthless.

And from a prior topic: "Sox fan's stay out of the Cub's threads!" Good idea. Maybe you should avoid Sox threads.

Comments like the one above me are hilariously pathetic, and give well-meaning Cubs fans a bad name. I started to type a response but then I realized my effort wouldn't go much farther than draining Lake Michigan with a straw would.

However, there is no such thing as a "meaningless" or "unimpressive" no-hitter, especially those thrown by pitchers with World Series rings and who've been to numerous All-Star games... that being said, I'll stop feeding the troll.

You know, I really like Buehrle as a pitcher and as a class act person. Last year he, along with the other returning pitchers looked arm weary early. This last outing along with the way Vasquez and Garland have looked has left a good feeling in my bones. Any competitive pitcher I've seen enough of (Maddux, Clements, Santana, Ryan, etc.) seem to pitch every game, every batter, as if it's a no-hitter in the making. I watched the concentration on Buehrles' face the last 3 innings, and the fact he worked much faster in those innings than normal. He needs to take a few positive lessons from this game; especially the quick time between pitches. What a bite on his slider! We look to be going in the right direction that's for sure. If the bats start clickin' any time soon, and we quit surrendering 0-2 hits Jimbos better hope their lease holds thru October cause the beers gonna be flyin' out the coolers this fall.

Sowa - man I don't know what Ozzie said for sure, but it sounded like he said (or meant), Sammy better be "ready to hit" because we are coming at him instead of facing Texierra(excuse my spelling).

Wisconsin - why are you hating on the Sox? Being a Cubs fan doesn't mean you have to hate the Sox. I don't care what McDonald's says. I like Brett Farve because he is a legend. Its crazy to try and pour salt on a NO HITTER man. Do just what all of those Cubs fans did when the Sox won in 05 - join in the celebration!

Um Stuckinwisconsin, if 14 people wasted their typing, wouldn't that include your post?????(SCRUBS Logic at work here I see) You are so obsessed with the White Sox, did they kick you out of the clubhouse on autograph day or something? Did they drive by and knock water on your best pair of shoes?

And being ranked 15th on list of 32 isn't one of the lowest....my goodness, although again I would expect that type of logic from a SCRUBS fan. Oh and a Favre fan too! How is your team shaping up this year, Green Bay that is. You should change your name to "LovebeingstuckinwisconsinbecausemyheroisBrettFavre" hahahahahaha

This is for stuckinwisconsin, you're one to talk, after spending 300 million on a team that hasn't one a World Series in almost a century is embarrasing. I have a bet going with my boss that the cubs at no point over the season will be 500 or better.
It doen't matter that his era is 0.41 if the rest of the team sucks. Chew on that, and swallow. Loveable losers my ass, how about bitterfanswillneverwinaworldserieslossers sound to you.
How is your 160 million dollar man working out for you?
or all your overpriced pitchers?, how about dumb and dumber(wood, prior), and you know that pinella is one loss away from having a heart attack. Go White Sox!!!!!!!!

I love it. Surely you must understand that this season has already been written. The Cubs are for sale, so of course they are going to win the world series-that is why they aren't being sold now-like the rest of the Tribune. That is just how the 'good ol boy business'works. Just think about how bitter you are now because no one will recognize the Sox as champs-or at least 'Chicago's team'. Wait til the Cubs win the World series. You think the 85 Bears are 800 pound gorrillas that won't go away? There is no 'second' football team in Chicago. You Sox fans are really going to be miserable, looking for any pathetic sign of recognition. You have already stooped so low as to put your grounds keeper on a pedastal ,because your team cannot get any recognization. What will you stoop to then? If you think I sound ridiculous by predicting the Cubs will win the world series this year? The day the Sox got Jermaine Dye and I predicted(I have proof too.) the Sox would win the world series was of course, even less credible. You see..I don't hate the White Sox team (I am and always will be a true cubs fan though), I just don't care for,nor respect the self-pitying,always whining, bandwagon jumping Sox fans- and Hawk Harrelson. We can all be Bears fans, we can all dislike Jay Mariotti, and we can all be stunned by the beauty of our hometown on an autumn day. However, when it comes to baseball, let's not cry out "why can't we all get along?"

You all need to quit feedin' this stuckinwisconsin person. He/she obviously has no life. But if we stop throwing things their way they'll have no choice but to leave the house/trailer and get some fresh air. Leave the fodder for October when the Sox are whipping Oakland for the A.L. Championship and the C.ompletely U.seless B.y S.eptember northsiders are whipping up Mai-Tais' somewhere in Trib-tropic.

Having a beloved team on the North Side does not do any good: I would rather have the Cubs win a pennant. To me, there are no signs that this costly edition of the Cubs will do any better than in previous years. Most likely, Soriano will soon start hitting home runs, but then, what?

The Cubs is surely a team of a great tradition, albeit that tradition is mainly based on fanfare such as the 7th Inning Stretch, the "Friendly Confines" jive, and the "America's Team" hyperbole. Maybe if the new owners do not get as stuck on traditions and try to put a winning team on the field, the Cubs will finally win a World Series, as they did in 1911 when Orvall Overall (RIP) won the last game of that World Series.

"You Sox fans are really going to be miserable, looking for any pathetic sign of recognition."

That coming from the person that posted an earlier, whiney rant about how his team is grossly underrated??? Sounds to me like the Cubs fans (actually, only you) are the ones that need recognition in order to feel validated; probably a result of low self-esteem or a need to be hugged. As far as your theory that the Cubs aren't being sold with the rest of the Tribune because they are going to win the world series, you obviously don't realize that they are owned by the Tribune and are included in the overall deal. They'll be spun off once the deal is consummated and the real "Big Z" takes over. I know, I know, thinking about such complex things probably makes your head hurt.

First of all I have all the hugs I need. Second of all, as you are seriously mis-informed, the Tribune announced the Cubs would be sold at the conclusion of the 2007 season. Third of all, I never complain about the Cubs being underrated. I don't know where you are reading, but I must again point out that the poster is at the bottom of the thread not the top. Fourth of all, educated people do not refer to people they don't know by a nickname. It is tacky-a common trait of WhiteSox fans.

stuckinwisconsin, can u say last place?

ANTHONY NAVARRO! Man that is the best post I have read against Stuckinwisconsin! And there have been many! Wisconsin can go with the best of them, but that was a masterpiece!

I am in tears - Crackin up laughing!
