Send the Bears your congratulations for making it to the Super Bowl for the first time in 21 years, and tell us what makes you most optimistic about the future.

Great job to the Chicago Bears team!!!!!

Rebeca

Bwhahahahahaha! Your sad excuse for a team STINKS!!!!!!!!!!! BWHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am most optimistic that eventually Grossman will have to retire, and then the Bears will finally play someone else at quarterback...

Everyone should give Grossman a break. How many years did it take Manning to win a Super Bowl?

Congrats for losing the SB after all your big shot garbage talk all season. Too bad you couldn't back it up. Now do you guys understand why so many doubted you? You are under achievers!

Our division was the weakest it's been in many years, decades probably. Same for the NFC. Next year should be tougher. This season was a perfect opportunity wasted due to soft, average coaching.

We still have lots of good players. If we can get this team to play to its potential maybe we'll see some good football instead of lucky, sloppy wins over weaker teams. Don't hold your breath. This coaching staff has under achieved every season so far and they show very little ability to improve over an entire season, let alone week-to-week like a good coaching staff.

Take my advice... don't expect much. Let them surprise you if they manage to get their act together.

Super Bowl type team, without a Super Bowl type quaterback! What a shame! I hope Lovie will take his rose colored glasses off and dump Rex!Congratulations to the rest of the team!

Thank you Bears for getting to the Super Bowl!! I hope you'll can keep the team together for a few more years. Like the old days when players stuck with THIER team no matter what. That's what will make you guys even better. Maybe even a few more Super Bowls.

I was optimistic all season long and the reason I'll be optimistic in the future is the overall experience of the team. We were hungry to put that defeat by Carolina in the past and we did everything possible to do that. Rex needed experience that he didn't have before the season and it'll make him better in the long run. It took Peyton 9 years to get this far after failing several times over the past few years. This is Rex's first full season and getting this far shouldn't be perceived as a failure. I know that the fans wanted instant results but it doesn't always work that way. How many players in their first full year get his team to the Superbowl? And how many first round picks in 2006 took his team to the playoffs? Don't down Rex because you wanted him to do it this year. He has faith in his abilities and those who don't put pressure on their team to take it all has faith as well. I know some of you guys wanted to brag about this team and go to the parade but the cold hard facts are that the better team won. The Colts were more battle-tested in this playoffs because they were also there alst year and the year before. The BEARS are getting used to winning and now know that they can get this far and will again because of the whole team will be better with this experience. Experience, experience, experience. Next YEAR,GO BEARS!!!

Sirs: Thank you for a wonderful season!!!!! I'm sure The team is more disappointed than I am after all the hard work that the team put into this season.I for one am very proud to say I've been a Bears fan for a very long time(1948). I know its a very little thing for me saying this but I do feel all the pieces are in place for a return to the Super Bowl!!! Every menber of the team should be proud that you had a great season & there's alot of teams who didn't get there!!!!!! Thanks again for a great season To all the coach's & team members, love your effort!! Ed Breault

rex what happen? you cracked under pressure

Thanks for the excitement, Bears! What a great thing to bring our city together, even in defeat. This is a team and town with heart - we'll be back. The Rex-haters need to dial it down. He's a scrappy guy who's going to prove you wrong.

Thanks for all the memories. Even while away at school in Washington, D.C. I watched every game and it brought me closer to home. Only two teams make it to the Super Bowl and thats something to celebrate about. Stop giving Rex a hard time regardless of the tough games he helped us all the way. Lets all just be excited that we got to finally see da Bears in da Super Bowl. Congratulations!

indiana wins superbowl-----rex is from indiana

sure, it is a coincidence

I was a bit disappointed last night, but I couldn't help to think that my disappointment was nothing compared to what the players felt. It was an awesome season....definitely a lucky one....but as a fan, I'll take it! We may not be the World Champions but we still are the NFC Champions! We had our moments last night....Hester, How unbelieveable was that??? Thank you, Bears, for getting us there!!!

Give Rex a break already!!! Its not one man that wins a superbowl, it requires the whole team to show up. It was a team effort that got us there to begin with. Rex, I believe, with more experience will be an outstanding quarterback!

You Live and learn so I can't wait until next season...GO BEARS!!!!

I think it is fantastic that we have a quarterback who led us to the Super Bowl his first full year. Yes, we had some bumps along the way, but isn't that to be expected? And to those of you who continue to spout negativity and hatred, you really don't deserve a Super Bowl win as a fan. I am a resident of Indiana, and in that respect, many Colt's fans are definitely classier.

CHICAGO BEARS, I AM STILL IN YOUR CORNER / YOU BROUGHT US THIS FAR, AND LOVE YA FOR IT

TO LOVIE: STICK WITH REX, HE WILL MAKE YOU PROUD ONE DAY !!!!! / TRUST ME, NO ONE ELSE CAN CALL THAT CARD, ONLY GOD CAN

TO ALL OF THE BEARS, YOU DID GOOD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, BE PROUD, BECAUSE TOMORROW IS ANOTHER DAY, AND IT ISN'T GUARANTEED TO ANY OF US !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND TO THE FANS: PLEASE GIVE LOVIE, REX & THE TEAM A BREAK, THERE ARE SEASONED TEAMS WHO DIDN'T MAKE IT THIS FAR

TO THE COUNTRY: I AM A DIE HARD FAN, AND I LOVE MY BEARS !!!!!!!!

MAY GOD BLESS, TAKE CARE & C'YA

Very poor play calling. Down by five, 4th quarter and you call a double move play that is hopelessly covered. Why? Pound the ball. Grossman should have been handing off. The Bears defense was beaten down. Coaching was C-. Get better by getting smarter.

That was a lot of fun Bears! Well done.

THANK YOU!!!!

Let's get them next year!!!

I must say for the first time in a month I am glad I am in Hollywood 90028 and not Edgewater Glen 60660.

I feel for you Chicagoans, having been one for the first 21 years of my life, I feel the same as you do right now. My only consolation is I can go out to lunch and the guy serving me my hot dog doesnt feel that way too. Now if I could only find a good hot dog here!!!

Chicago will always have the best Fans no matter the outcome of any game! And I don't feel to bad as my mother said this morning, "If you had come home you would be just as depressed and it would be 5 degrees not 80" I have to agree.

Thanks again Bears

The bears played a good game I just wished so many bab things were not said about the quarter back, most of the reporters were saying how bad he was, maybe in their eyes, there are quiet a few more that is suppose to be so good but did not make to where grossman made it to. Why don't they write about the ones that is suppose to be so great but didn't make out of the first round. congrats to he bears again.

Only the Chicago Bears could "underachieve" their way to a Super Bowl. BBB, I wondered when you would magically return to tell us how right you are. (I could be wrong, but wasn't it you who said Lovie would never take the Bears to the S.B.? Not to nitpick, but your track record ain't exactly pristine...)

Winning records and Super Bowl appearances be damned. The time has come for the front office to nix the obvious, documented loser Lovie Smith and give BBB his opportunity to "smoke" him.

Go BBB!

Chicago, you should all ashamed to berate Rex. He's still a kid.
Quarterback is a tough position & he is learning and excelling!
He makes me proud to be a Bears fan because in my 45 years of living I have first hand knowledge of the parade of bums that we have had at quarterback.Congrats to the Bears organization-now is the time to fine tune the machine & return next year as winners!
db Blackmon-Westside

I've never been happier to watch a team lose. The coach and team have class, but after the way your city treated Saints fans ie(we'll finish what katrina didn't!! signs)it was a real pleasure to see the bears get spanked.True champions behave with class and so should their fans. After all its just a stupid football game.

Thank you for a great season CHICAGO BEARS. We did not win the big one this year but I as a fan look forward to next year and seeing you guys fulfil your promise. You proved your mettle all year long and fell just one game short of completing your journey. Now, show the NFL your character by rising from the ashes of this defeat to shock the world in 07'-08'. Superbowl XLII
is the year of the BEARS!

Great year Bears! It has been a good run. Next year will be even better. And good job to Rex on his first full year. He has a lot to absorb for next year. But he will get better and better.

Thanks for the memories...And if they had to lose, I couldn't think of another team I would have preferred than the Colts.

Great season, Bears!
All you "experts" leave Rex alone. He got us to the SUPERBOWL in his first full season...something this team hasn't done since'85. Get off the guy's back.
Here's to the Bears and Rex in 2007!

Bears had a great year! Finish second best to a team coached by a class guy like Dungy wasn't all that bad.Could of should been better but hopefully Grossman will find another line of work? If bears had even a average QB the Bears would be having a parade !Rex has gotta go before Bears will win the trophy. Don't trust Rex the hex any longer & tired of hearing his sorry excuses. Rest of club needs some tweaking too but will do better minus Rex.What if Rex? What if Rex had gonads ...go back to work for your daddy Rexie!

Congrats to my northern neighbors from an Indy fan on a great season and an NFC championship. The Bears and their fans have a lot to look forward to as Grossman matures into what I think will be great player. Rookie QBs will make mistakes, even/especially in the big game. Don't be too hard on him. Coaching and poor defense make for better goats on this one.

Good Job Bears,

I think the coaching defintely let the team down. I think the defense should have bean attacking more instead of playing prevent all game long, and that one is on Ron Rivera. Everyone can say what they want about Rex but 20-28 is not bad, they gave him the dump off passes and he took them instead of forcing something downfield or at least taking some shots. He will be fine in the future so we cannot give up on this kid.

I would like to thank all the chicago Bear coaches and players for an exciting season. I have been a bear fan fo 41 years I reside in san diego but I am still a die hard bear fan thank you for the great season and lets do it again in 2007

Really, the SuperBowl is for winning, not giving guys a chance to play to see how they will be in the future. Rex Grossman did not help Chicago win and Lovie Smith should have given the rest of the team a chance to win by putting in Griese. Who cares if Grossman's feelings would have been hurt, there's no crying in football! Griese could have had a better day than Grossman and Chicago could have won. Shame on the coaching staff.

Being from Minneapolis and a Chicago native I thought that they had a wonderful year. They won the NCF and made it to the big dance. You were just a few plays away from winning it all. Not much I can say except thanks. Rex G. don't give another thought to bone head, bozo no nothings like Marriott who could not write a column on sports to save his life.

He knows nothing about sports and never has. Rather then treat this like a stepping place for next year he is quick to take you down. Any body can write a column really takes no talent at all and Marriott proves it time and time again. You all will be back but hope his days are numbers. He wants to steal the show and be controversial go away Marriott write about something you know.

I still think his dad or a relative must own the Sun Times can’t see any other reason why they’d keep him.

fan in 85/86 and fan in 2006/07, the bears really gave us a good season and it's just the beginning of a young team. Just remember, you alway say "we won" when the Bears win, but you say "they lost" when they lose. You all should be ashamed of your selves, they are and will always be the most entertaining football team in the league, WE ARE THE GRABOWSKI'S, NOW LET'S GET BEHIND OUR OWN PLAYERS AND GET IT STARTED AGAIN. woof, woof.

>b>Thank You! It was a nice ride, too bad we spun out.
My glass is 3/4 full and getting fuller. I firmly believe the players and coaches will learn from the mistakes made this year and build on the successes. A true fan may be disappointed; but a true fan will stand behind his team.
GO BEARS!!!

I could have sworn that Roman asked us to express our optimism for next year. Again, you guys fail to talk about the topic at hand. If you are not optimistic just skip this blog until Roman asks who is the most pessimistic about next year. Once he does that I'll skip that blog. Last chance to spew your negativity . When are you guys ever grateful? The AFC won again because they are the big boys. I'm fine being the biggest fish in the NFC pond. I wouldn't mind going every year for 3 years straight. Winning isn't completing my life. I already have one. GO BEARS!!!

Too much, too soon. The Bears need more seasoning before they are able to win it all.

The reporters were right I guess. When it mattered the most in the regular season, Grossman came up huge (at STL). Okay okay. But let's see what he does in the playoffs. Against SEA, he had a good game. That's all good and well, but let's see him do it against a great NO team. He did. Okay okay. But he's not a Super Bowl QB. Let's see how he does there. BAM - There's the bad game!!!! We knew it all along!!!! We were right!!!! Forget all the times we were wrong!!! We were right!!!!!

I agree Mark McCoy some Bears fans got out of hand holding up such a awful sign. But not to use a pun, certain that all saint fans aren't saints either!Bears came close but still have work to do especially at the QB position. Maybe next year Mark we might have a rematch? Not all bears fans are like the brainless wonders holding up that sign. That did go too far!I was sorry to read about that sign..

I love Da Bears and always have and always will. They had a great season and went to the Super Bowl. I'm proud of them, ALL of them. Way too much negativity about the loss. Get real people, one man don't make the game. Honestly, you sound like poor sports not Bears fans.

Thank's for a great season. You should be proud that you are the NFC Champs and represented Chicago in the Super Bowl.

CONGRATS for making it to the Superbowl! We love DA BEARS! I have been a Bear's fan since before the last Superbowl. I think if Rex could learn a thing or two from Jim McMahon he could improve. SCRAMBLE!RUN!Quarterbacks don't just throw and hand-off the ball. You need to know how to get the first down, even if that means you have to run it yourself! He does seem to crack under pressure, and I must say he had pretty decent pass protection. I hope that next season we weigh our options and see what we can improve in the Quarterback position. And I think Lovey is an awesome coach! Praise God for him!

Wherever he may be, I think even Steve Bartman is thinking to himself, "Gosh, it would sure suck to be Rex Grossman right now..."

I heard "He's still young," "He hasn't been in the league all that long," "He's still inexperienced but will come around," and so on as reasons for his god-awful performance. Well, to me, those sound like reasons he shouldn't have been given the starting job in the first place, and I can only hope Lovie comes to his senses and yanks him from the starting spot. I would have started a drunk Kyle Orton over this putz...

Roman responds: I have to get that first graph in the paper somewhere, maybe on Sunday. That was funny. Thanks.

Congratulations on making it to the Superbowl. I didn't think they could do it, but they proved me wrong. I wasn't proved wrong about Rex Grossman. It's not his first year in the NFL, despite what many of you are trying to say to protect his weakness as a player, He's had at least 3 years to learn and study to prepare for this moment and he failed miserably. Keep your faith with him and you will certainly be dissapointed again next year. By the time he comes around and finally becomes a decent player, your defense and special teams will not be as good...It took Manning 9 years right? He didn't have the defense and special teams that Rex has now...a great team going to waste on a potentially talented player that does not have the sense of a great quarterback now...trust in him? O.K. you saw the results! You were in the game until the end. All he had to do was move you down the field and score...plenty of time and he threw the game away with his lack of understanding. you will never win a Superbowl with that player as your quarterback. What a waste of a team!

Thanks Bears for making it to the SuperBowl!

A fan

people can convince themselves of anything. lots of bears fans think that rex has a future in chicago. after last night, is there any question whether he's in over his head. he's burned all of his good will. when he makes his first mistake next preseason, he'll hear it from the fans. once that pressure hits him, he'll crack. just like he did yesterday. rex is the anti-montana - natural skills and no guts.

Thanks to all the Bears for a very exciting season. You have many reasons to be very proud of your accomplishments.

MLH

I am sick and tired of everyone putting Rex down, don't you all know it was his first full year as a quarterback, how many years it took Manning to get to the Super Bowl. THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT SEASON. I ENJOYED EVERY GAME, THE GOOD AND BAD.CAN'T WAIT UNTIL NEXT YEAR. LET'S GET THE. GO BEARS!!!!!

Great season from our Bears this year. Although they didn't win the SB many pieces are in place for a return trip. This team is extremely young and have gotten better each year. Next year will be much of the same. This team looks primed for another great year. First on the off-season agenda should be to find some way to keep Briggs in the fold. Give him the money he needs to stay. Urlacher and Briggs could be a dynamic duo for years to come. Bears management do not let him walk. Another good draft should bring at least a good O-lineman preferably a guard because the line is getting old and Garza looked way overmatched in the SB. We will have Tommie Harris back and hopefully Brown too. It sure would have been nice to have them last night. Grossman will only get better with another year under his belt. QB's have to be groomed and seasoned. This was his first full season and he was a big part of why this team won. He will learn from his mistakes and become a good QB. He has the tools and the potential and his ceiling is much higher than Griese's. The play calling on offense needs to be better than what was shown last night. Turner has no imagination and seemed to wrap the offense in a cacoon. They can't be afraid to let Rex throw the ball. They bailed on him early and expected him to pick it up in the 4th. You have to establish a rythymn for your QB early. We have playmakers on offense. Where was Davis or Bradley last night. Turner waited till it was too late to start passing. Improvement should be made and hpefully next year will be our year. GO BEARS! We should be proud of this team for what they accomplished instead of ragging on them.

Great Season! No one man is the blame so leave Rex alone!

First and foremost,THANK YOU 2006 NFC CHAMPION CHICAGO BEARS!Not too many teams get this far and as much as it was expected to win the big one don't get down on yourselves.Just remember how bad it stings and use that next year for ammunition.I took a broken jaw and some false teeth for ya'll down here in new orleans but i'm still proud of you guys for having the success you guys had.I'm excited for next year and hope you guys can keep Briggs in a bears jersey. To REX GROSSMAN; IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT.JUST KEEP WORKING HARD AND KEEP MOTIVATED.TO RON TURNER; NEXT TIME YOUR ARE IN 2ND AND 2 RUN THE DAM BALL.TO LOVIE; YOU THE MAN AND GO GET EM NEXT YEAR.TO BRIAN URLACHER; KEEP THEM BOYS GOING.

You can stop wondering now. And yes, you could be wrong.

The Bears just need to stop feeling sorry for themselves, learn to stop whining about what they deserve and realize all they have to do is go take what they want. Then focus on defending their NFC crown and get back to the SB to win this time by doing a better job. It's pretty simple really.

Ahhh... sweet satisfaction. With the unforgivable and ignorant way Chicago treated New Orleans fans during and after the Championship game, it helps a bit knowing that y'all were forced to watch that Bears debacle along with the nation and the world.

Bwaaaahahahahaha.

thanks bears!!!
even with a rookie QB(NO. GAMES PLAYED) AND A GREAT DEFENSE TO
COMPENSATE FOR HIS GROWING PAINS OUR BEARS WERE STILL ABLE MAKE IT TO THE SUPER BOWL AND COMPETE....HEADS UP GUY'S!!!QB/8 YOUR AN EASY GUY TO ROOT FOR!!!!

Congrats to SB champs Colts, best team in the NFL this season and to the Bears, the best team in the NFC.

To Rex, it IS ignorant when you are criticized for a great first full year...Steve Young at CBS, a first round draft choice came into the NFL with 2 years of USFL experience and then proceeded to make himself unwelcome with the Bucs (11 TD and 21 INTS in his first 19 NFL games). Funny, commentator Steve never mentions that when he bad mouths Rex, nor does he mention the 4 years as a back-up to Montana and the 10 years of Pro football before he ever went 13-3 and went on to win a SB even with a team of Hall of Famers.

Nice of the Blister-Brained Blowhard to come out from under his rock to enlighten us all with his insights on coaching... The Colts managed to come back from 18 down to beat the genius Bill Belichick and his Patriots, but when the Bears lose to them in the rain, they have an underachieving coaching staff? Just like in the NFC Championship, the Bears were in position to win the game with exactly one good drive by Grossman, but halfway through, he decided to throw that awful jump ball to Moose and Illini Kelvin Hayden. With all of their physical errors, until that throw, the coaching staff had them in position to win the Super Bowl. Thanks to the Bears players AND coaches for a thrilling ride. Let's do it again, with one more win, next year.

The friendship between Chicago and Indiannapolis is not only with the coaches. The Indiannapolis Ice is sister team to our own Blackhawks. I am happy for the kind, good people of this proud city. May they enjoy the title and represent it honorably.

As for our Bear's, they will be back. To fellow fans, I say, let's settledown before we rush to hang scapegoats. Let's be thankful. Only look to where we were three years ago.

To management, I would advise to immediately prepare for next year. Strike while the iron in hot. Make bold moves now. Have the courage to make the soul-searching decisions that will elevate this team to the next level. Evaluate weaknesses and go out and buy the solution if you have to. Don't be a dollar Bill Wirtz!

And finally to my fellow Bear fans, I say, I'm sorry. I'm sorry because I'm writing from sunny, northern California where we are in the 50's while you guys are in negative. I wish I could be there to share the pain. Bear down fellow fans, bear down.

Great season Bears,

I really enjoyed this year. Those of you doubting the team, wait till next year! This team has taken better steps every year even at QB. You can say what you want about Rex but he has played better than about half of the QBs in the league this year (Including Brett Favre). How many times could you've said that about a Bears QB in the last 10 years? And you know what? He can only get better. The team played like crap in the Superbowl. It wasn't only Rex. I thought the playcalling was bad, Rex didn't throw the ball well, and the Defense was just bad! That said, they know what it feels like now. Like William said, Experience. They know they have to pull out all the stops when it comes to the Superbowl. None of those predictable running plays, or draw plays on 3rd down. I look foward to next year. Thanks Bears!!!

Rex Rex Rex, oh well.
I do wonder why I only saw Manning's helmet hit the turf once in the whole game. I guess Ron was too busy thinking about his new job instead of the word 'blitz'. It seemed that the very few times the Bears sent more than four Lineman, it got some better results. When they did rush 4 men and give Manning so much time that he could not figure whether to pass for 3, 5, 7, 12, or 15 yards. He was a surgeon and Ron handed him the scapel.

Well first and formost i would like to say "congrats to the Bears for taking us this far and the coaches". Even though we didnt get it this year we soon will, i could feel it in my heart. To Lovie: I think you are a great Coach, i never seen someone with so much confidence in their players, you are a graet role model to all the young and old people out there. To my Bears: Screw waht every one ealse says out there, a true fan sticks with their team till the end, you guys are great thanx 4 a great year, you guys filled us with exitment, i'll go as afr as to say that you guys broght hope back to this city....Urlacher, my fav player, you played a good game....remeber there is only so much that one could do. Keep up the good job. Grossman, you are a great guy, dont worry we all have our ups and downs and we learn from our bad experiences but i believe on you, and i was sad as you all probably were too but i have confidence tha you and your team could do it again next year.....I luv the Bears. You guys rock....

I can't tell you how proud I am still to be a Bears fan. I've lived away from Chicago since 1982 and I still wear my colors and argue with the detractors. From the Seattle to the New Orleans game to the Baltimore oops Indy game, I was behind 'em. The more they're disrespected, the more I feel the underdog role like our team. They don't get a fair shake for one reason or another, despite the excellent football we play.

These guys are on one of the two top teams in the NFL! My entire family is behind them out here (11 of us). I am looking forward to more quality ball next year !!!

Go Bears! What a great season. Be proud, I'm proud! You made it to the big dance. Many teams never do. I know it is painful now - but this too will pass. Take your licking and keep on ticking. Use this as a learning experience. Come back bigger & badder and shut down the doubters. Rex you are really still just a rooky. Composure will come with experience. Don't beat yourself up. Spend your summer looking over game tapes and learn from your mistakes. Show us how great a quarterback you can be - I know you have it in you. Lovie - WE LOVE YOU! Great Job! We are primed for another great season and I will be there at your side.

Lovie Smith has done an amazing job getting the team to the SuperBowl so quickly. Rex unfortunately did poorly, but hey, its the first full season he has played so he is parctically a rookie.

Unfortunately, during the SuperBowl, the jerseys looked reversed. Bears played like they were a dome team that had never played in inclement weather! Colts were able to run the ball and stop the run while the Bears could not get the run going and could not stop the run. I think if the Bears had been able to establish the run, Rex would have been okay, but when the Colts took the run away, it put the whole game all on Rex's shoulders, and he is just too inexpereicned for that right now.

The Bears have the nucleus to get back to the SuperBowl next year.

rex didnt get them there how many games did the defence win for them ortin was ithink better defence you rock !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! come on lovie ive wached da bears since 1955 lets get it happening

The Bears had a great season that just fell short. I beleive that Rex will make a vast improvement next year and I want to be the first to say that the Bears will be undefeated next year! Go Bears!!!

To all the Bears fans who deemed it necessary to inject the tragedy of Katrina (among committing other dispicable acts) to taunt Saints fans at Soldier Field, I offer you the following: I guess the Colts finished what Mrs. O'Leary's cow started.

I've been a loyal Bears fan for 25 years and an avid football fan for 40. Please understand that I am very impressed with how the Bear's organization has put together a Superbowl caliber team in just a few short years, but I have to be honest.. Lovie Smith put way too much confidence in this QB PERIOD! If you look at the good Q-backs in any division, they all seem to have traits which Rex doesn't have, like the ability to run, make a first down, throw a long ball (on target) and be somewhat consistant. He looks awkward, trips over himself, fumbles often, throws way too many picks, and in my opinion, doesn't deserve to play with real pros like Urlacher, Jones, Hester, and the rest of the team. Face it fans, he doesn't have the same level of talent or abilities as his team mates. Please spend whatever it takes and hire a real quarterback to lead our team to victory, the rest of the team DESERVES a leader who KNOWS how to win...and gets the job done! Good luck in 07'

I have been a life long Bears fan, and the past two seasons have been a joy to watch. Lovie is a great coach and the team is into his plan 100%. This year it fell short by 13 points - what a ride.
I can't wait for next season for one thing is certain, nobody can take the experiance away from this team they just endured, and what doesn't kill you makes you stronger - GO BEARS!

Congratulations Bears just getting to the Super Bowl is tough. Many of the comments I have read here I agree with but not the comments denegrating Rex Grossman. I am sure this experience has taught him more than some of the unappreciative fans give him credit for. Reyton Manning took 9 years just to get to the big game let alone win it. Look for Rex to win it in less time. Thank You Bears for an exciting season. Keep the faith Rex and for God's sake Lovie start using Hester as a wide receiver!

The Bears and Rex Grossman did a great job this year. Rex did better in what was really his rookie season than any quarterback has done for the Bears in a decade. He is just going to get better and next season instead of 7 games of a rating over 100 he will probably have more like 10 games with a rating that high. The running game is going to improve with the continues emergence of Cedric Benson and the receiving corp should just get better with even more time to work with Grossman. The defense should be fantastic again and no one will want to kick to the Bears with Devin Hester back there. Robbie Gould is mr.automatic. I think one more year of getting the chemistry of these players down will get them back in the Superbowl. The priority I think for next year is getting a really solid veteran backup QB. If Grossman regresses or gets injured next year we need someone we can actually turn to. Brian Griese has never been and will never be a Superbowl caliber QB and he would have fared no better, and possibly worse in yesterday's Superbowl had he played.

The Bears will be back in the Superbowl next year. Mark my words.

Great job Bears! Thanks for the thrilling ride this season. We'll get 'em next year! Rex: Let's work on the consistency.

great season Bears. Many media types, and fans themselves have given up on U all season. The most encouraging thing to me is that the team is still relatively young in it's most important areas, QB, WR(except 4 Muhammad),DL, LB, CB, RB as well. We need to draft more speed, but we need more awareness overall. And let Grossman grow up(stop hating.) And no Roman, I have never been one to give up on a QB with Grossman's potential let's see what the young man has.

Thank you Chicago Bears!! I have been waitng for 21 years for you to return to the Super Bowl. Thanks for a thrilling and exciting year. It was a disappointing loss, but I think that it was just Peyton Manning's year. I really do not think that Rex Grossman is to blame. Some of the play calling was suspect. I just don't think the team played up to its potential. But I am proud of the whole team. I love them all. Also, thanks to Lovie Smith for being a classy guy and doing such a great job. I am looking forward to next year.

The only way the Bears stand a chance of getting back to the SuperBowl next year is if the city and the team embrace Rex Grossman. If no one intends to do that then the Bears had better draft a QB, go with Greise, and release Grossman. There will be even more pressure on the kid next year. He unravled as it was obvious the he needed to make big plays in the 4th quarter if the Bears were going to come back... they weren't coming back no matter how many interceptions Grossman threw. The Colts out-played, out-thought, and out-coached Chicago. Rex Grossman did not allow Rhodes to break into the secondary, did not fail to pressure Manning, and did not bite so hard on a play fake that Reggie Wayne received a gift 50 yard touchdown pass. Rex imploded... but the Bears defense must have stayed at the hotel, or fell asleep on the bus... The Colts have had to overcome the Patriots... this was the Bears first taste of devestation... give them a few more years with this group of players before you give up on them.

Thank you for the great year Bears. Thank you for the most exciting player since Walter Payton, Devin Hester.

Thank you for providing a transplanted Chicago Bear fan a great diversion until spring training.

Pay up now and get Lovie in the fold for many years to come.

nosehair

Great season overall.Young erratic QB,who played his 1st injury free year.2 Pro bowl starters on ir.Electrifying rookie return man/cb.15-4,not bad for all the injuries and distractions. Here's a tip though:Devin Hester should be converted to a running back. As Sean Sailsbury eleduded to,Hester has the vision of a rb "ie" the cuts that he makes.Teams will kick away from him so he must be utilized in other ways to be effective. At 5'11" 185-195 4.3-4.4 in the 40 yard dash, ever heard of Reggie Bush?

Congratulations to the Chicago Bears for bringing excitement and hope to Bear fans everywhere. Winter sports in Chicago have been mostly cold the past 20 years, this Bears team has renewed excitement and hope again for those of us who grew up cheering for players like Ditka, Buffone, Sayers, Payton, McMahon, Singletary and Butkus. We have a team whose players and coaches are etched in our memory, giving us a team to be proud of. Bear pride has been restored. Congratulations on a terrific season and I am looking ahead to the next season; lets keep this team together and make another run in 2007.

Go Bears!

Thank you Bears for a great season! I jumped on the bandwagon when I was 7 watching the 85 team dominate in the SB. This year was great! I live around a bunch of Vikings fan who love their team one week, and want to lynch them the next. I never thought Bears fans were like that until I started reading the blogs in Chicago. Remember what we are talking about is just a game. For me it is a Sunday break from every day stresses. I love watching this team play hard and play together. I truly believe that Rex will be our QB of the future. He was so inexperienced beginning this year. I guarantee he gained a lot throughout this season. I just wish you "fans" would get off his back.
THANK YOU BEARS FOR A GREAT SEASON...HAVING SOMETHING TO CHEER FOR INTO FEBRUARY REALLY MAKES THE WINTER SHORTER!! I'm from North Dakota, trust me i know!

This season was a WASTE. They didn't finish the job and will be forgotten.

They had sooooo many chances to win the Super Bowl that it was disgusting to watch.

Bad Rex GROSS, Man needs to be traded. HE BLEW THE GAME FOR THE BEARS.

Don't look to positive on this disaster...there are NO guarantees that this team will make it back to the big game.

I hope Rex never plays another game for the Bears.

I, too, wish everyone would stop putting down Grossman & Lovie. For being so young, I believe Grossman is doing a fine job. Lovie has a lot of class (something some of the fans should try to get). The way the Saints & fans were treated (with referrals to Katrina) Chicago could take some lessons on good sportsmanship. Like the man said, it's only a game & the best team one. Don't kick someone when they are down.

What are these backer of Bad Rex Gross, man thinking?...

What game did they see last night?...the Monday Night Game against the Rams?

I am sick and tired of this Bad Rex Gross, man sabotaging this town, this team, and this fan!!!

I for one am not going to jump on the bandwagon again if this clown is on the roster next year!!!

When a team only has 3 victories over 2 different teams with winning records (New Orleans and Seattle, twice) you can't expect that team to compete with a superior team from a superior league. The Bears better hope for a weak NFC again, and lesser play in the AFC, if they are to make a return to the Super Bowl and have a chance.

Way to go! My Bears in the Super Bowl, win or lose they are still my team and I for one am not dissappointed....My team made it to the Super Bowl, only 2 teams did that! Wait til next year! Keep the team together, they will go far!

Rex is one of the top 25 QBs in the league. Leave him alone.

For all you classless indiviuals who took the time to taunt fans who had nothing to do with the Saints negativity get a life. I hope you enjoyed taking a swipe at us when all we have done on this blog is back our team. I doubt any one of those guys who held up stupid signs even took the time to read anyone's opinion but their own, so I doubt they read this blog. You didn't get anything across to them. The ones who had to endure your taunts were just "HOMERS" backing their team. You lowered yourselves to their standards by rubbing fans' noses into a football game loss. You're not calling us losers, you're just telling us that some losers just didn't hold up signs, but waited until our season was over to inject your stupidity and loser mentality on us. We'll be back to the Super bowl. Maybe with your classless display the team you back won't go for another 10 years. And I doubt the ones who said we got what we deserved were even Colts fans. So ragging on us getting this far shows who the real losers are. GO FANS!! GO BEARS!!

I celebrate the 2006-07 Bears. They played with heart and passion and gave the city a season full of thrills. The kicking and punting game were magnificient. Watching Bobby Gould was a pleasure. Lovie Smith will continue to win in the NFL and Chicago is lucky to have him. If you're a long-time fan of the Bears, this was a fun ride with an almost magical conclusion. That's reason enough to celebrate.

The Bears are who we thought they were...
The Bears are who we thought they were... I've watched solidly now for about 10 years, the Bears are who we thought they were!!!
I've seen games where Kevin Butler missed a game winning field goal, I've seen games where Erik Kramer blew it in the end zone...From crappy draft picks like Rashamm Salaam, David Terrell, and every one's favorite Cade Mcnown...I'm not sure if I spelled that right I don't care. We made good picks drafting Urlacher, Briggs, Tommie Harris, Anderson, and Hester, but we haven’t fulfilled the role of a quarterback. I’m not Blaming Rex at all; I just want people to know this isn’t working out in Chicago. I've seen this team grow... 2001 we lost, 2005 we lost (Thank you Steve Smith for sliding down our goalpost), and now 2007 Super Bowl XLI Laser Rocket Arm beat us. I'm not even mad at Peyton. You knew he was going to do that...if you didn't you're a fool, and you're not a fool are you?

Then in the last few years I've seen Tom Brady, Donovan Mcnabb, hell even Michael Vick be the leaders of their team. So why on earth did the Bears even draft Rex Grossman, when they knew basically all along this guy wasn't going to be able to lead a team to victory like Brett Favre?
All year long (actually you could really say since Jim McMahon) we have been debating Rex Grossman or Brian Griese, but if we made the right choices during the last 12 drafts maybe we would have picked up a Daunte Culpepper, or even Peyton Manning even; Either way the point I'm trying to get to is how many people felt that it actually looked like the offensive coaches were afraid to let Rex even try to throw the ball downfield?

Now I can agree that Rex screwed up (way to fumble twice in the biggest game of your life)... even calling the media ignorant. Now who looks ignorant after that game? However I'm sort of trying to defend you in this paragraph here. It was not his bad. We stopped running too early and when it came time to throw it seemed the offensive line couldn't hold still. We lost Benson there goes the power running game. Rex's first Super Bowl to go will haunt him forever. If the offensive coaching staff would have allowed him to take a few more shots downfield, who knows just maybe we could have had some nice catches considering going downfield is one of Rex's only strength's. Notice I haven't mentioned the two interceptions; I was trying to forget those.

So here is my final point. Will Rex get us back there? This is the second time in my life that we made it; I was only nine months old during Super Bowl XX. And this is the first time in my life where I didn't watch the Super Bowl trophy be handed to the winner... I guess I never felt like this before... I'm scared because of all the quarterbacks I named up top there, is Rex even as good as they are? Only time will tell I guess. Time however is not on the Bears side. So who will Rex become? Will it be Favre, Bradshaw, Palmer, Brees, Montana? The Bears are who we thought they were... A team that will only be remembered for the Super Bowl Shuffle.

Wow this was my first article I should send this to Mariotti see what he thinks

I've said it before, and I'll say it again; We as fans and local media have to stop being overly critical of our QBs. Every year it's the same thing. Even with Rex playing as well as he has this year, people were still hating on him. Negativity breeds negativity if you ask me. Its going to be critical next season for Rex to perform well consistantly. It will also be critical for the fans and local media to embrace this kid...which never happened this year, even when he performed well. Fans have to stop judging his every throw, and the local media has to stop writing stories like "stop with the pampering, dump Rex!" One reason Brett Favre, Peyton Manning, Steve McNair, and Tom Brady have become good-to-great QBs is because their teams, fans and local media stood by them, even through the growing pains. Things haven't been always rosie with those guys early in their careers either. Especially Brett. He was probably even more wildly inconsistant then than Rex is now. But he had a coach (Mike Holmgren), and a team willing to groom him. Even more important, I don't ever Recall the home fans booing Brett Favre during a bad game. We have to learn to value our QBs and we never have. Every season we are screaming for the back up to play. And Why? Last Season when Kyle Orton was slinging wild passes all over the place, people couldn't wait for Rex Grossman to step in. And when he did, we gave in a standing ovation. Did Rex Grossman play horrible at times this year? Yes. But he also had more good games than bad games, and people seem to have forgotten that. We all can see the talent this kid has. He can throw the ball a mile. He can only get better and I believe he will. Let ESPN and the national media and other fans say what they want. We are Chicago, and we need to support our own.

Thank you Bears. What a season. I have been a Bears fan as far as I can rember. I live in a small town in Nevada. I've never been to Chicago in my life, but one of my biggest dreams is to go to Chicago and watch my team the Bears play at Soldier Field. I have been a fan since before Sweetness was drafted. If I were to ever change teams witch I would not ever do my wife would probably divorce me with all the memorabillia I have of OUR BELOVED BEARS. Even when the Bears have had a bad season I go and buy something to show I support my team. Were I live it is all about the Raiders, 49ers, Broncos, or Dallas and a can't stand any of those teams. I take alot of crud for being a Bears fan and I love it. Rex hang in there just remember to step into your passes. Sometime you have to take a hit. For Rex haters Montana, Young, Bradshaw, Aikman, Elway, Favre, and Manning never made it to the Super Bowl in there first full season. Lovie tied Jimmy Johnson in taking his team to the Super Bowl in three seasons JUST short of winning. I know Lovie can do it for our Bears. Some of the haters think you know better maybe you should be the coach or QB and see if you can take some of the criticism and knocks that they have had to and still make it the the BIG GAME. We have not had a 20 Touch down or over 3000 yard passer in years. Yes Rex also had more ints since Evavs but give him a chance. If we had Favre would you say the same thing? The best things about this years Bears we saw History in the making. My kids which I have six of them and four of them our Native Americans, got to see two African Americans go to the Super Bowl for the first time and one won the big game. Lovie yours will come keep the faith. This lets my kids know they can do anything they want to. Congrats to Dungy and Congrats to my friend who did not get to see his team the Colts win the Super Bowl. Rick rest in peace my FRIEND. I also learned how to take a bad loss like this and it hurts. But it also made me realize we can make it back sometime soon and hopfully we can get the win this time. Chicago Bears you will always be my team no matter what. Lets get it done this year all you guys can do it. YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES JUST KEEP THE FAITH!

On behalf of the Colts and all Colt fans I would like to thank Rex Grossman and Lovie Smith giving the game to us. Grossman for his ineptitude in lofting the passes that a blind man could catch and Lovie for sticking with him. Grossman has the right name. His playing was GROSS MAN.

I would like to say CONGRATS to the BEARS! They may not have won the Super Bowl, but they came in second in the NFL! I am a BEARS fan, have been since I was knee high to a grasshopper, I am from Indiana and I stand behind the BEARS win or lose! They have a great Coach who is taking them places and I am sure that we will be in the SUPER BOWL next year with a win! I think everyone needs to lay off of Grossman, no he is not perfect by any means, but he goes out there everytime and does the best that he can, he is a young quarterback and shows potential to be a good quarterback! I seen all the news stating that Grossman lost the game, that is not true, YOU WIN AS A TEAM AND YOU LOSE AS A TEAM! As I recall he was not on the field by himself! Yes he had a bad game, but you can not blame it all on him, it is a team effort! I will be a CHICAGO BEARS FAN FOREVER WIN OR LOSE THEY ARE THE TEAM I CHEER FOR WIN OR LOSE I AM ALWAYS PROUD TO SAY I AM A BEARS FAN and you can imagine how much crap I get for that being in Colts country! So, BEARS, I AM PROUD OF YOU!! We'll getem next year!

CONGRATS to the Bears for a great season, Been watching the Bears and cheering since 1959. I think this years team is one of the best. Looking forward to next year.

Congradution Lovie, Your are the First Black Coach to make it to the Super Bowl in NFL History and the First Black Coach to lose the Super Bowl!

I WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE BEARS FOR MAKING IT TO THE SUPERBOWL AND FOR A EXITING SEASON THANKS AGAIN ,SAL

Rex was bad but the offensive play calling and the lack of aggressive defensive sets did not help at all. Hello Mr. Turner, it is the Super Bowl? Mr. Rivera, you needed to be more aggressive at times and abandon the bend but don't break attitude after seeing the offense struggle to give your D a possible chance to rest.

I'm proud of our Bears! 15-3 going in, down only 5 in the 4th quarter of the Super Bowl. Yes, of course, I'm disappointed we didn't play better, didn't win, but it was a fun ride. Bring back Briggs, Harris, Mike and Ruben Brown, keep the staff together as much as possible (don't lose that special teams coach Toub) and it should be fun again next year, even with the tougher schedule. Go Bears!

MY MOM AND DAD WERE BOTH ALIVE WHEN THE 85-86 BEARS WON THE SUPERBOWL...WHAT A WONDERFUL FEELING.,ONE TEAM HAD TO WIN...ONE HAD TO LOOSE,BOTH CHAMPIOMS NEVERTHELESS...I'M SURE MY PARENTS ARE SMILING...THANK YOU "CHICAGO BEARS" "OUR" N.F.C. "CHAMPIONS". BRUCE FROM CHICAGO

Can someone tell me why they didn't land the plane at Indy and tell Grossman to get off, and not bother to come back to Chicago?? Then tell me why someone did not call Lovie in and ask why they didn't take the village idiot out in the 3rd quarter when it went from 2nd and 2 to 4th and 12 on the first series? I've been a Bears fan since '55, and have watched every Super Bowl, and have never seen a more inept performance at QB than I watched Sunday. Grossman would be on the trading block to someone with a top 4 or 5 pick, and I would go after Brady Quinn, so we could have a pro QB in a couple years. I thought the defense hung in there rather well. Manning was on the field for 40 minutes, and ran 80 plays, and with 5 or 6 to go the Bears were only down 5 and had the ball, and ol' Rex tossed the winner to a guy wearing a white helmet. Get him outta here!!!

Thank you, Bears! Living in Packer country in always difficult for a Bear fan, but you made it a lot easier this year. It was a fun season. Let's keep on doing it.

CONGRATULATIONS ON A GREAT SEASON!!! And, with a rookie quarterback. Just think how great he's going to be next year. He took the team all the way to the Super Bowl this year, even with all the rotten sports writers making his life a living hell. I think Grossman and all the team are just great. I'm proud of all of them.

Yeah, I enjoyed watching Da Bears not just for that one Superbowl night but for several weekends for four months!

It really is the journey that counts. Whatever the end is, everybody -losers and winners continue to move on. Winning or losing is just another stop of a very long journey with really no end because they will play the game again and again and again. It is not like building a house that can last for decades.

However , it would have been nice if Da Bears won. But I do not think I would have felt any better because all day Sunday before, during and after the game I had my usual tomato sauce stomachache. That hurt more than losing , reality check!

Jealousy is a sin, so I am sinning.

doc Leo

GREAT JOB CHICAGO BEARS!!!!!

You all did a wonderful job this season, and i am very proud to be a BEARS fan, so what you guys didn't win the super bowl,ALL I CAN SAY IS WATCH OUT NEXT YEAR!

AND CHICAGO DON'T GIVE UP ON OUR TEAM, (Rex you will grow into your leadership and do very well keep going.)

KEEP YOUR HEADS UP,

P.S THANK YOU LOVIE FOR DOING WHAT YOU DO SO WELL AND TAKING THE TEAM TO THE SUPER BOWL.

Win or lose, I am still proud of our Chicago Bears! They'll be back in the Super Bowl, and they'll win it! GO Bears!! I stand behind all of the Bears and their coaches. That includes Rex Grossman. How many quarterbacks have been to a Super Bowl in their first full season as a starter? There is no Good Rex or Bad Rex. There's only 1 Rex and he's our quarterback. So backoff all of you Rex critics!

You all exceeded my expectations for the season this year! I am disappointed in the outcome of the Super Bowl, but not disappointed in any of you. You gave us something for the entire city to unite around. So, do not hang your heads this spring. You'll be back and we will be waiting, except this time we are coming home with the goods!

There is a group of Chicagoans in Connecticut who are very proud of our team. The stars were not aligned for the championship to happen but we are very very proud. Continue to fight. Practice and get strong. Rex we know where your heart is and we know that you are going to become a great QB. Just know that your fans are everywhere in the country. We may have left the city but we never left our beloved BEARS. We love you.

Mr Alt,

I live near Tampa and i can remember when we said the that Steve Young was horrible and he would never amount to anything and I can also remember saying the same things about Elway and Farve. Good thing that those guys weren't run out of football after 1 or 2 seasons. Give Grossman a break, I watched Griese play for Tampa for 3 years and he is absolutely horrible. That is why he is a backup.

Thanks Bears. You really made this season exciting and I will
never forget being at the NFC Championship game! The whole experience was like being in a dream and the dream was taking place inside a big magical snow globe. What a great game! It's also nice to be able to say you're proud of a city, the team, and the coaches.

All I have to say is thank you to the 2006/2007 Chicago Bears for a great season. Put the loss in your memory banks and come back next year and prove the nay-sayers wrong.

Great run, but you gotta admit.. The Bears were living a little too large during the season, they got lucky in a lot of their games. I really don't see them returning back to the super bowl next year. I guess it was good while it lasted.

Actually Darryl m, my track record is top notch. Go back and read and stop relying on your faulty memory.

Thanks for nothing, Grossman!

WE ARE THE BEST IN THE NFC. GROSSMAN STILL NEEDS IMPROVEMENT BUT WHEN HE GETS TO THAT GREAT QB STATUS I WANT HIM TO BE A CHICAGO BEAR. WE COMING BACK NEXT YEAR EVEN HUNGRIER THAN WE WERE THIS YEAR. GO BEARS THANX FOR A GREAT SEASON. HESTER YOU ARE A BEAST, KEEP BRIGGS IN CHICAGO

Thank you Lovie Smith and the entire Bears team for a memorable, fun season! Lovie Smith continues to impress and I'm confident that next year will be even better. And Naysaysers, let's give Rex a break. He did well for his first full season, and he needs seasoning. Chicago is an enthusiastic sports city and we are very loyal to our Bears. Great things ahead! And Bears Owners, you need to pay $$$ to Lovie for a job well done! Don't get cheap or you'll lose good people.

I would like to thank Lovie Smith for his class and dignity. The Bears played hard all year and had a formula for victory with the players that had to coach. They didn't have the best game on the line of scrimmage. They need to take pressure off of Rex Grossman by working on their pass blocking, creating draws and screens, counters. Indianapolis let the Bears ends charge up the field only to hand off on a quick draw play off tackle or guard. The Bear defense wasn't tired there was no adjustment by the coaches and players to Indianapolis game plan. They played valiantly against Indianapolis and I don't believe for a minute they were worn down on defense. The four turnovers by the Bears offense with one for a score was all that was needed by Indianapolis to win. Nathan Vasher should be singled out for his incredible effort. The Bears special teams should be rewarded. Everyone should just breath and enjoy this accomplishment of going to Miami ! Also, Rex...work on your footwork.. + the Bears offensive line work and the offense will take off (Jones,Benson,Berrian,Clark),with Hester coming in as an elusive runner or receiver... decoy ! Let him have more touches of the football. The man can play !

The negative cowards behind the typewriter are just the loud fans who talk smack and now have to face the world for all of their bragging,,,They come on here to project it all where it doesn't belong...There are hundreds of blogs online where you can talk tough and get into a lame cyber fight with someone.

All that said...This was a great year and a whole lot of fun for me...I got to see the Bears more this year than I have in a long time...The Bears will be back next year...They will plug up holes where they are weak just like they have done every year while building this club...Not many peeps picked them to get to the Super Bowl...I will welcome all of you to Arizona (It was 70 here yesterday) next year...You can buy my Cardinals seats for an inflated price and even rent my house (for an inflated price)...Quit yer snivvling and next time act like the Bears players did...Suit up and show up and keep yer mouth shut...All you guys did is set yerselves up for another year of being bashed because you bragged and yer crying because you have to face the music. Grow up...Go Bears and seeya at Spring Training....A great place to mourn the Super Bowl loss and plan your trip next year so you can the optimum dowm time here in this awesome state (more Chicago fans here than in any other state except Illinois)..Chin Up...We will get them next year...Remember when we lost to the 49er's in the 84 playoffs...What happened in '85???...Come on out peeps...We're waitin'!!!

I love reading all the whinning from Chicago. When your team starts talking Super Bowl in September, then gets their butts kicked by Miami. YOu need to learn to shut up and support your team.

Hey did you hear that Brett is coming back to antagonize the Bears again? The Bears have too many fair weather fans. 6000 no shows at a playoff game. Packer fans would never miss a game due to weather conditions. Bunch of cry babies.

The Pack will make a run in 2007!

Congrats on The Bears NFC trophy, what needs to happen is team work, concentration, and hardwork. You guys played a good season could have been better, some wins sloppy, others good. Rex you need to focus and relax,if you are hesitant on throwing long passes, run it run it run it, if we would have ran the ball more we would have had a better chance. But things happen for a reason. History has been made not with the Bears but for Tony Dungy as a African American follower of Christ. ConGrats. Lovie good season try giving other players a chance on the field. Chicagoans we will rise again nxt year take it all the way home, and we will have our Victory parade.

I have a better idea...I am going to sell my tickets to the Bears opponent next year (at an inflated price)...What am I thinking...How could I make money on a fellow Bears fan...I will do the same with my house and make sure they are gone the day of the game so they don't take it out on my humble abode...!!!GO BEARS!!!

Grossman received a $500,000 bonus for playing in at least 70 percent of the offensive plays in the Superbowl. Two weeks ago, he earned $500,000 for doing the same thing in the National Football Conference championship game. Unfortunately, this conflict of interest made it difficult to take Rex ( the female dog) out of both games.By the way, if a guy is scared to be on the field, he shouldn't be in the NFL..Rex plays scared.

To the Bears Players, I know you are disappointed that you did not win the Super Bowl, just remember you are our Devision Champs. Hold your heads up, I along with many others are very proud of you. We are waiting for next year. For now let's be happy for Dungy and his team, for next year we want them to be happy for us when you win. Bears, be proud of yourselfs, you made it to the Super Bowl. Many teams did not do that.

Go Bears!!! I love you all..

GO REX! YOU'RE JUST A ROOKIE, KID, HANG IN THERE!

Peyton wasn't as good as the hype he got and the hype he's still getting, he isn't the MVP. The Colts didn't and COULDN'T blow out a poorly performing Bears team minus Cedric Benson.

THEY SHOULD HAVE BEAT THE HYPE. They didn't, but they were still a team that could have won the Super Bowl.

JUST WAIT UNTIL WE REALLY COME TO PLAY. And to all you N'awlins whiners, ya lost, deal with it.

I DO NOT BLAME THE TEAM THE WAY THEY PLAYED. I BLAME WHO EVER'S CHOICE IT WAS TO KEEP REX (FUMBLE FINGER AND FEET) GROSSMAN IN THE GAME. HELLO ZERO PERCENT PASS RATINGS DO NOT WIN SUPERBOWL!!! WAKE UP IT'S THE SUPERBOWL!! NOT SOME OOHH LET THE DEFENSE SCORE THE POINTS TO WIN THE GAME!! THINK PEOPLE THINK!! TRUST ME YOU ARE LOSING SALES AND SUPPOSE. SORRY TEAM YOUR MANGERMENT LET YOU DOWN BIG TIME, IT'S NOT EVERY YEAR YOU GET A CHANCE AT THE SUPERBOWL!! VERY DISAPPOINTED BEARS FAN.

On the real--

This year's Bears team exceeded all of my expectations, giving me one of the most enjoyable football seasons I've ever watched. It was nice not having to wince every time I turned on the television--and, since I live on the West Coast, it was nice just to be able to see the Bears play for a change. Second place is never enough, but seeing the Bears in the Super Bowl was something special nonetheless (especially considering the inconsistency at quarterback).

I'm actually going into the postseason excited; all the Bears need to do is keep their defense intact and bolster their offense, and we all can expect to see the Bears competing for the Super Bowl again next year.

GO BEARS.

My son Al and I watched the game at The Island Bar Grill all the way in Montgomery Texas! Actually the owners are from Chicago like us! As we watched the time run out I looked at my son Al who is 11 and seen his eyes water, and the sad look on his face, broke my heart. Right when the game ended he got up and went to the truck, he was so heart broken. I went after him and gave him a huge hug. I said honey be proud of our team! Look at how far they came, look at all the good times we have had together watching them all season! Remember, you have to stick by your team no matter what, winning or losing, not like fans out here that are drive by fans for Dallas or Texans! Be proud of your team Our Bears! He looked at me like I was crazy, and finally nodded and went back in with me. On Monday morning he touched by heart, I noticed that he had on his Urlacher Jersey! He said, Mom I don't care what people say today! I'm proud of Our Bears! And wait til next year!
So Chicago Bears thank you so much! We are proud of you all and like my son said," Wait til next year!"

Sincerely,
A true Chicago Bear Fan!
Diane Garcia (formally from the South Chicago)

I PERSONALLY WANNA TAKE THIS TIME AND GIVE A HUGE CLAP TO THE MONSTERS OF THE MIDWAY.......!! GO BEARS!! EVEN THO WE DIDN'T WIN THAT SUPER BOWL TROPHY WE'RE STILL CHAMPIONS IN MY EYES....PLUS THAT ONLY MAKES US HUNGRIER FOR NEXT SEASON!! I'LL BE ON MY COUCH SURROUNDED BY FAMILY AND FRIENDS AT THE SAME TIME NEXT YEAR WATCHING ALL THE BEARS GAMES JUST LIKE THIS YEAR!! WE WUZ 15 & 3 THIS YEAR SO THAT SAYS ALOT ABOUT OUR TEAM!! PLUS WE WERE NFC DIVISION CHAMPS. OUR OFFENSE AND DEFENSE DID ALL THEY COULD TO BRING US HOME A VICTORY HOWEVER I TRULY BELIEVE EVERYTHING WORKS ACCORDING TO THE LORDS WILL AND IT JUST WASN'T OUR TIME. WE'LL GET EM NEXT YR.......SO URLACHER, GROSSMAN,HESTER,BENSON,JOHNSON & ALL THE BEARS KEEP YA HEADS UP!! WE ARE PROUD TO CALL YOU GUYS OUR FOOTBALL TEAM!! AND I'M STILL WEARING MY BEARS JERSEY AND APPAREL PROUDLY.......HATS OFF TO THE NFC DIVISION CHAMPS.......DA BEARS!!!

My dad was like " It wasn't all [Rex's] fault." It wasn't?????

Congratulations to our Bears for getting us
to the Super Bowl. I know its more frustrating for the team then for the fans but the whole is good. Yes, we the fans were disappointed with Rex but when you take into consideration this is his first full year we are grateful for a good year. Let's get there next year and win it all. GO BEARS!!!

As much as it still hurts days after the big game, I too am very proud of our Bears and really enjoyed the season and can't wait until the next one starts. I agree that everyone needs to stop putting the blame on just one player, the team wins together and loses together.I know the players are feeling really bad about the game, but what they did for this city was really cool, everyone was so into the Bears and that does not happen with any other sports teams in this city , so guys hold your heads high and remember you are the Chicago Bears! I love ya man and thanks for the memories.

Lynn Hayden

I live in Baltimore but I"m a "TRUE ORANGE AND BLUE" BEARS FAN.... I love my BEARS,And I could not be more proud of the team and the front office... I just hope they reward there players for the great efort they gave all year, and as for Rex, fans and media need to give it a break, look back on any first year stater see what their stats are,how soon did they win there divison and their conferance!!! Fans be thankful, things are looking very good for our BEARS...Next seasone is already on the way, And it looks good to me... THANK YOU!!!!! CHICAGO BEARS B.F.

The the NFC Championship Bears:
Thanks for the most exciting football season in 21 years! Chicago didn't have to sit out a week of football action thanks to our wonderful team. And, even though the "experts" above, who have the luxury of never having to play a game and who are only your fans when you win, may be down on you or on one of your members, you won as a team and lost as a team. We couldn't have asked for more. And we couldn't have asked for more from a quaterback, playing his first full season, than to bring us to the big game. Rex Grossman, you took more grief than any player in the NFL and handled it with more grace and class than anyone could have been expected. This great team reflects their great city and we are grateful to you for an exciting season.

And, for all the "experts," who have pinpointed all the problems with Rex and have it all solved, if anyone of you ever took one snap in the NFL, with a line full of Urlachers just waiting to run over you, you'd keep your criticism to yourself. If you don't play, you can't say.

Congrats to the Bears for making it to the Soul Bowl!

People are being too hard on Rex. He's young and he'll improve. Let's be honest... our defense could not stop the run, especially in the 3rd quarter. Addai, Addai, Addai! Indy's run game absorbed most of the clock in the 3rd and we couldn't stop it. We'll be back next year!

It took Mr. Manning 9 years to get a ring some teams have never made it that far Archie Manning never won a Super bowl if it was that easy to win teams would repeat every chance they could. When was the last time the Colts been to the big dance? the bears will be back and when they do don't jump on the band wagon because this ride is for the true fans.

to the Rex bashers ,you don't know the first thing about football other then what you read or see on the tv. .Blame the offensive play calling of Ron Turner. After an opening kickoff return we get the ball back and play ultra-conservative instead of trying to go for the throat and demoralize the Colts. Its the Super bowl play to win .As for Rex I love it his 1st full year he take us to the promise land ,yes defense won some games but real football fans remember this season when he won when the defense was down thats why they call it a team .Yea you sports fans keep listening to the media. That why are country is is in the shapes its in you believe everything you read and hear.REX AND THE BEARS WILL BE BACK. THANKS GUYS GREAT SEASON

I WOULD LIKE TO CONGRATULATE MY FAVORITE TEAM FOR THE GREAT COURAGE & EFFORTS SHOWN DURING THE WHOLE SEASON. 99 GREAT AND JUST 1 BAD = 100. GREAT COACH & GREAT TEAM!!!

CESAR RENTERIA
ATLANTA, GA.

If you think back to the beginning of the season, the lion's share (yeah we beat them too) of the critics & experts said the Bears were more than likely going to be at the bottom of the division. There was NO WAY they were going to win, especially not get to the playoffs. And they went to the %$#@! Superbowl!!! I am a die hard fan, have been since I came out the womb 35 years ago. They gave me a great season and I am very proud of the job they did. Can't wait to see how they top next year!!!

thank you for a great season filled with ups and downs but a great season none the less. we have a great team and i hope we can keep everyone here. to all the "BEARS FANS" crying about this and that SHUT IT!!!!!! there is a time and a place and this aint it. all the REAL BEARS FANS are proud of our team and can't wait till next year.GO BEARS!!!!!!!!!!!

This was the best football season at our house. Living in WI and being Bears fans can be tough, especially for my son. We thank you for all your hard work and exciting games. It brought our family closer and I can't wait till next year. Go Bears!!!

The game almost followed the script - Bears get up early, but the Colts no-huddle and quickness on D wore the Bears out by the third quarter. Bears fans should see the long-term - good salary cap situation, solid nucleus of young players sprinkled with veteran leadership; and most importantly, the bitter taste of defeat that will propel you in the next few years (every champion tastes this before tasting victory.) As for Grossman, keep this in mind:
the Colts faced four QBs this post-season and Grossman was only outplayed by one, Hall-of-Famer Tom Brady! He played better than Trent Green and just as good as Steve McNair. And in worse weather! Throw him under the bus at your own peril - he reminds me of a young Brett Favre - full of potential and full of mistakes. Grossman will be a good NFL QB - will it be with the Bears? Hope so.
Anyway, best of luck Bears fans and GO COLTS!!!

hey bears maybe next year!!!!! MAYBE THE NFC SHOULD PLAY IN THE CANADIAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE NEXT YEAR......."SEXY" WOULD BE THE MVP UP THERE.....GO PATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My beloved BEARS team - THANKS for a wonderful season!!! Be proud of your achievement this year, it was great team work. Die hard Bears fans (as myself) stick with you through the good & tough times, believe in yourself & each other. God Bless 'Da Bears'!!

ALL MY LOVE,
Cristina

Go Bears! there are 22 players, the bears got us there, how many other teams didn't make it we did and I for one am proud of the CHICAGO BEARS.

Thank You...Thank You...Thank You!!! God is good all the time. The season was just wonderful. You placed the hope back into this city. I'm soooo proud to be a CHICAGO BEAR FAN. BRING EVERYONE BACK. I love you HESTER, GROSSMAN, BENSON, JONES, TILLMAN AND ALL THE REST. LOVIE, BECAUSE OF YOU...I BELIEVE!!! KEEP YOUR HEADS HELD HIGH!!!
GOD BLESS EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU.

LOVE & PEACE-LD COLEMAN

Having a motto of "Finish" was good, a Superbowl Shuffle would have been better! I am hoping to see a new shuffle next season(for real!). Though our schedule was soft, looking at next years schedule, 11-12 wins are easy, 13-14 wins and home field advantage is possible. I will be expecting a return to the Superbowl, and a VICTORY! The Colts did not earn their victory! The Bears failed to take what was theirs, for the second year in a row. We should have been celebrating back to back wins, instead of licking our wounds. This team is better than what they played. They could have, and should have dominated. I missed out on $15,000.00 last year, and would have won $2,300.00 this year. So close. yet so far! But I will get better odds next season, and I will place my bet again. I believe in these Bears. They will only get better. The defense will be better with Tommy and Mike back. Rex should work like Brady does during the off season, study his film, learn the blitz pick ups, and the side steps to avoid the rush and make them miss. One thing I was hoping to see, that I feel would have assured victory, but didn`t, was Hester as a receiver. Why did we not use this "lethal weapon"?????? So he will be playing cornerback!!!!, doesn`t mean he can`t run a few routes at backbreaking moments in the game. Doh?????????? A four receiver set of Mohammed, Berrian, Bradley, & Hester would be awesome and unstoppable!!!!!! Why did Lovie not consider or use this weapon of mass destruction?????????????????? I am not ready to quit on Rex, just because. Overall, for a first full season, no real reason to sneer, but something to grow on. However, I do feel the job should be open, should Griese or Orton be up to the challenge of taking it from him. They deserve a chance, if they can earn it. If Rex is ever going to be all he can be, then he ought to be able to keep his job with a performance worthy of it. The coaches need to look at themselves. They need to do better too! The whole team needs to "step up and take it", and play meaner than a junkyard dog. They have to stop bringing a knife to the gunfight.

For starters congratulations to the Colts for using two players from New Orleans to help beat the Bears and win the Super Bowl. Now for the good stuff. In response to the extremely idiotic signs at the NFC Championship game related to Hurricane Katrina, like, The Bears-finishing what Katrina started, etc etc and for all of the bush leauge fans that threw all kinds of items at Saints fans during the game , injuring many of them, I have to say this.....The Colts, finishing what the Chicago Fire started.....How's that feel.....

I don't know where some of these fans come from but the bottom line is this....The Bears are an awesome team, except at quarterback of coarse, and the Saints are just not good enough yet, but I would never attempt to make fun of a catastrophe the size of Katrina for any reason at all. ...You people from outside of New Orleans just do not have any idea of how bad life is for us hear right now, and will be for some time. I sure hope you guys never need to count of FEMA to determine whether you actually live or die......

Da'Bears: To the neysayers who said you wouldn't make...look where you took yourselves. To the Jay Mariotti's out there....bite it! The Bears are a young team who have come a long way and deserve to be NFS Champs. They played hard, strong and with heart. Which is more than I can say for some of the teams/coaches out there. Rex-don't get down on yourself. We know you can do it! Lovie's the man and he'll take Da'Bears to the Superbowl again next year! BEAR DOWN BEAR FANS! Get ready for round two in 2007-2008!!!!

Can someone PLEASE give me some evidence that Grossman "will only get better over time".......not analogies to other players, "look how long it took Peyton Manning", or "Young sucked at Tampa Bay", or "Farve threw a lot of interceptions his first year"........but evidence that GROSSMAN will get better. How long do I have to wait? I have waited four years for him to figure it out. Do I have to wait another four years, ten years? What? How much patience should I have?

The only consistency I have seen from him is his consistent bad reads, consistently being overconfident in his abilities, consistently wilting under pressure, consistently unable to move in the pocket or scramble. Will the Bears win some games when he plays well, probably, will they win championships with him, so far the answer is a resounding NO!

For anyone that posts here to say anything other than this was a HUGE wasted opportunity is absurd. Do you have any idea why it took 21 years to get back to the Superbowl, because it is REALLY hard to do. Most people here think that we are going to go every year from now on, that is crazy.

The Bears have to decide whether they are going to be the Packers, 49ers and Steelers - who win the championship (virtually every time) when they get there, or whether they are going to be the Bills and Vikings - who choke in the big game.

Anyone who is satisfied being second best doesn't deserve to be a champion. Being a good loser is being a loser.

To The Bears,

I want to thank the coaches and players for a great season and job well done we aroud here are not used to our football team making it to the Super Bowl. Not acheiving a goal is one thing and disappointment is another. I am not disappointed I amjust not as happy.I know that you guys will come back next year with the Championship in mind good luck.

GO BEARS!!!!!!

Rex vs. Peyton

24 games (23 starts) does not a career make. Although the sports media seems to think it’s definitive. An even cursory look at the two most recent QB performers in the Super Bowl would have given these details.

After 24 NFL games Peyton Manning had thrown 40 TD’s and 36 INT’s. Rex Grossman 27 and 26 respectively. Manning’s passer rating was slightly higher. 78 for Peyton, 72 for Rex.

However, in the all important won / loss column. Rex is 18 - 6 for a .750 winning pct. to Manning’s putrid 9 - 15, .375 winning pct. amid calls for his head (early in his career) in Indianapolis. Two playoff trips and a Super Bowl berth are also in Grossman’s favor.

This being said, the jury is still out on Grossman, with a decidedly huge upside to his potential. Unfortunately, his accuracy in the biggest game of his rookie (relatively speaking) season, was not quite as good as his acumen assessing the media’s knowledge of football while down in Miami, which was right on the money!

It was really great to see the Colts defeat the Bears Sunday. After the crude and classless comments made by the Bears fans to the people visiting from New Orleans. When a natural disaster destroys an area, that should come into play as negative comments for a football game. And, I truly believe had the field conditions been different, the Saints would have played the Colts instead of the Bears. Defense wins championships, but "no offense" vs. a great offense wins Superbowls.

George from Atlant, Ga.

2006 Chicago Bears, the entire team, that means you too Rex, THANKS FOR A WONDERFUL SEASON of WINNING. Winning games the team should have lost, but did not, and GETTING TO THE BIG DANCE!

Next time fellas, play the SMASH-MOUTH football that this city has come to expect of its storied football team. It is okay to be polite after the game, don't be polite before the game or during the game, get your GAME FACE ON, and lets play football CHICAGO-STYLE! GET ANGRY and SMACK'EM BACK!

To all other posters, we hurt simply because when we get to the Big Show, we kick butt!! Plain and simple. That is why some of us are a little disappointed. We don't come home in second place!

In my short life-time, '85 Bears kicked butt! Micheal Jordan & the Chicago Bulls kicked butt! The 2005 Chicago White Sox kicked butt, yet let a little cubbie punched them and lost a little steam in their swagger, but still remained in the 2006 playoff race until the end of the season, basically.

I know I'm being philisophical, but how would Chicago Fans FEEL if we had not gotten a chance to be in the playoffs?

I BET cash money, EVERYONE was screaming when Delvin Hester ran the opening kickoff for a touchdown, now didn't we CHICAGO!!?? And cheered a little louder with Thomas Jones 52 yard run to the Colts four(4) yard line, and jumped up with Moose when GROSSMAN threw the touchdown pass.

Optimism is simply "LETS DO IT AGAIN!" but knock some heads around.

Again, thanks for the Super Bowl experience.

BEARS in Super Bowl XLII

What an AWESOME SEASON!!!!! It was a GREAT ride!
How many Quarterbacks have taken their teams to the Promised Land, their 1st year???
Two, that I'm aware of...Tom Brady, and Kurt Warner. And, even though they won those games, there are many that never got close.
Hang Tough REX! You will be KILLER in this league. And, hopefully, you will be KILLER for THE BEARS!!!!
Oh, and....just to let you know, VEGAS has the BEARS at 7:1 odds of WINNING the Super Bowl, next year! HA!
And, we will.
Thank you for many GREAT Sundays! And many GREAT family get-together's!
Take some time off, and regroup. We'll "FINISH" it next year!

In the famous words of Arnold..."WE'LL BE BACK"!!!

YEEEEE-HAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

GO BEARS!!!!

Mike B.

Congrats Bears on a good season. Everything takes time! I look forward to seeing better things next season. I've been a bears fan for many many years...nothing has changed! We will win the Superbowl.....soon!

I have been a Bear fan sinc the days of Bill Wade, Bill George,Dick Butkus, et al. This team has nothing to be ashamed of. They will be back.

JRH

AND SOME OF YOU CALL YOURSELVES A BEARS FANS? TRUE FANS STICK WITH THEIR TEAM THROUGH GOOD AND BAD, AND AS SOON AS THEY LOST, SOME OF YOU JUST PUT THEM DOWN. BELIEVE IN YOUR TEAM. THANKS FOR AN AMAZING SEASON, KEEP YOUR FAITH AND LET'S WIN ALL NEXT YEAR.
GO BEARS!!!!

After the Bears lost to the 49ers in the NFC Title game during the 84-85 season, Wilbur Marshall said that the next season the Bears "won't just knock on the door, we will kick the $%&# door down."

07-08 Bears, take some advice from that great Bear team.....Next year, kick the $*%& door down!

I just cannot understand why this great franchise can think they can win the only true big game with a joke as a quarterback, all i can say he got great hang time.

I am from Indy and reside here. I have been a Bears fan of of my life.
I went to a friends's Super Bowl Party and was out numbered to 20 to 1!!!!!!!
I still wore my Grossman jersey, it was a long night.
They will be back.
Grossman will be a great player.
People forget that Peyton Manning averaged 20 interceptions a season his first 4 years.
The Bears gave the game away. Grossman cant take all of heat.
It would have been nice if the defense would have showed up.
The 2 key plays of the game: blown coverage for a FREE 7 points and 2nd & 1 we PASS! U R kidding me!
We need 1 lousy yard why not run! It is pouring down rain so we pass and Rex slips and loses a bunch of yards.
I am greedy like everyone else we should have won, but hey we made it to the Super Bowl.
It was a great season.
Go Bears!

Well Done Gentlemen! This was a great season for all BERAS FANS. Make us proud and FINISH Superbowl XLII

BEAR DOWN

Lets stop making excuses... Chicago is one player away from winning the show. Plenty of rookies have started and done well, without two years to read defenses and study offenses. So a rookie he is not. You have to confidence in youself, and beleive that you belong were you are ie(QB position,NFL,SB). As they say "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink" If Chicago really thinks Rex is the future, lets go out and get a free agent starting QB this offseason, let them compete thru-out the preseason for the job. Money is always a great motivator. And for everyone that dosent think Rex was the biggest reason they lost, remeber this... Indy would rather give Chicago the ball on 40 or 50 yard line rather than kick it to Devin hester. Its well known around the league that to beat Chicago all you have to do is tattoo Rex in the first or second series and hes done. Indy did a great job of making Rex and the offense beat them, not Brian and the defense.

Congrats for a great year! Looks like Angelo and Lovie Smith have built this team up for the long haul, so we as fans should get to enjoy many postseason adventures for years to come. Special shout-out to Rex Grossman- YOU DA MAN!!! No matter what negative things untrained, unexperienced, non-NFL personnel spew, as far as I'm concerned you've always done your job better than most humans ever could hope to. I look forward to seeing the even-more-seasoned version of Rex next year! I'm normally not one to get NFL jerseys, but the Grossman jersey will probably be my first. Let's show 'em who's boss next year!!!!

I'm so sick of hearing "how many years did it take Manning". He never had the team Rex had this year. WRECKS cost us this game and he should be traded or benched. What is wrong with giving Griese a fair shot at becoming our starting QB instead of saying Rex is our guy? I hope Griese gets his chance in pre season.

Thank you Bears for one great season. My Dad and I are very proud to call you "our team". We hope this season makes you all even hungrier next year for a Superbowl Victory! Congratulations to all of you.

i think u all should look at the fact that the first full year that rex played the full season he took the team to the super bowl with all the ups and down and tell me what other q back has done that ????????????

I can't believe all the LOSERS on this board who are content losing the Super Bowl. This was our chance to win it in 21 years and Rex messed it. What game were you people watching or did you happen to fall asleep in the fourth quarter? We live in the 3rd largest city in America and we deserve a quality QB.
THANK YOU WRECKS FOR MESSING UP MY YEAR. The only one ignorant is you for thinking you could just throw a pass and think one of your wideouts will catch it. At least Rex gets the highest pass ever thrown in the Super Bowl. CONGRATS.

Although Sunday was a painful, bittersweet way to go out, I'll remember these '06 Bears for all the joys that came with a long, sublime season of unforgettable Chicago football.

And we'll always have that one glorious moment when Hester broke into the open, speeding down that field in Miami--untouchable, uncatchable--that moment when it all seemed real, when the Bears were going to win the Super Bowl. That was as good as it gets. It's my Super Bowl souvenir, the one I'll be carrying in my pocket until next year--the joy of that moment, one last little reminder of what made this season so thrilling. And, oh, what a thrilling season it was. Thanks for the memories, gentlemen. Go Bears.

Bottom line is this. You can debate who's to blame all day long, but can anyone tell when the last time (if ever) a team has won a Superbowl (or playoff game ) with FIVE TURNOVERS!!!!

While it was a sad ending, it was an entertaining season. I am, and will always be, a Bears fan, but I'm not a Rex fan. He seems like he's a nice guy, but I just don't trust him to get the job done. If Lovie plans to hand him the job next season without truly considering Griese, or any other options, I'm not sure I can watch. I can understand supporting a guy, but without any threat to his job, I don't think Rex will get any better.
Next season will be a lot tougher and everyone will have to play better. Most of the Bears are capable.

Only 215 more days till kickoff. I cant wait already! This was a great season, for those of you who cant stand Rex, he is much better than anyone we have had since 86. remember how relentless we were with Flutie and Harbaugh great job by us in dumping those guys... Take it easy on the kid and lets see what happens. Aikman, Favre, Manning, Brady and Hasselbeck were all terrible their first couple of years in the league. Besides Rex wasnt the one who quit on the run and could not stop the Colts on third down. Rivera should not be retained as this is the second year in a row his lack of halftime adjustments got us drilled. Toub for president!!!

Just what is Wade Wilson's job if its not to get Rex ready to play, Rex lacks the basic fundamentals the center/qb exchange(I learned the qb snap in grammer school! you also learn to step foward when you throw Rex constanly throw off his back foot!
He's not looking off his reciever! and what get me most is he afraid to tuck the ball and run my friends think he just a sissy
I stand correcteded I want to know why he never seem to sit down and look at what the defense is playing and how to best attack the scheme they are playing( where are the coaches !why doesn't he talk to the booth in between series! I just think he 's just a little cocky qb who is conceeded to the point that he thinks he knows better then the coaches! why wasn't he breaking down films in his first couple years(when injured) and working with a coach working on his knowledge of the game! Tim

GO BEARS! You may not be America's team, but you are my team. Great job making it to the SB. Coach was saying that we would get to the SB. We did. Coach said that we would beat GB, we did. Coach said that we would win the NFC, we did. Can't wait til this fall so we can start over again. Thanks Coach, coaches and you young monsters.

P.S. When are you taking over the Midway?
B. Morris

The Bears had a great season. A wonderful season. They can still hold their heads up high. They are still my team. But so are the Colts. I predicted when they both were undefeated they were Super Bowl bound and I wouldnt be surprised if we see the same match up next year.

Well, I am a saints fan and i do think that the chicago fans that mistreated our fans were out of line. it is never okay to poke fun at another person's true pain and suffering. I'm not saying that all bears fans are guilty but a lot were because i heard and witnessed more incidents than that one sign and it really does hurt, and those bad bear fans will never offer anytype of apology and are angry at us for being upset. we were not angry about the game. we are still angry about the personal level of rivalry and i just want it to be over with already, or else this will end up being a personal dirty rivalry for forever. besides i have a good friend in chicago who has never been negative towards me because he knows me well and how serious the effects of katrina still are. Can't we just bury the hatchett? I know how to forgive people when i get hurt, why should Chicago be any different? It would be nice for positive feedback from yall.

Lay off Rex. That goes for all you puffed up sports writers and pompous fans. I watched Rex play for four years at the University of Florida. He is a very good quarterback and will become a great NFL quaterback if given time. As for the Super Bowl, I guess it was Rex's fault that Wayne was by himself, behind the defense, no one within 25 yds. of him, when he caught the touchdown pass from Manning? It was Rex's fault that Addai was open all day long and that the Bear cornerbacks played 10-15 yds off the receivers all day? And Turner's game plan and play calling wouldn't work in Florida High School ball. I suppose that was Rex's fault too? Other than Urlacher, where was the defense? Where was the pass protection and run blocking? I'm sorry, these are Rex's fault too. It takes a team to win and a team to loose. This was a concentrated effort by the whole team. The Bears will be back. Sooner with Rex than without.

I'm glad the BEARS lost!!! After the Saints & the fans were treated badly (the Katrina signs, etc.) no team deserved to lose as much. The fact that Manning is from Louisiana made it even sweeter. The city of Chicago is trash like their people. I hope a natural disaster doesn't destroy your city. That would be so sad. God does not like ugly and that's what you are through and through.

Thanks Bears! NFC Conference champs! You may have taken a few years off my life, and after the game I ended up blacked out in a dark room with a bottle of tequila, but thanks. Before the next SuperBowl, our coordinators need to check the weather report and adjust accordingly. Ron Turner-never throw a fade route in the middle of the field EVER again. WE HAVE NO ROOM FOR A 50/50 BALL IN OUR OFFENSE! Ron Rivera needs to actually gameplan for the SuperBowl opponent next time, and coach to COVER a flaring back in the flat. THAT WAS THE MOST PASSIVE DEFENSIVE SCHEME I'VE EVER WITNESSED IN THE SB! The whole "keep everything in front of you-make sure tackles-bend but don't break" mentality doesn't work if you don't keep everything in front of you, don't tackle, and break. Footballs are slippery in the rain, and so are runningbacks. We needed to attack near the line of scrimmage instead of waiting for Indy to hand us the game on a silver platter. Our scheme was so painful to watch on both sides of the ball that I was tempted to jump off the roof. Also, Devin Hester is impossible to tackle. Get his hands on the ball.

All the talk about Rex being horrible in the game is true, but I'm still behind him for the future. I almost punched my TV when I heard Mariotti mention Jeff Garcia and the Bears in the same sentence. Rex is our quarterback. CEDRIC had the worst game in SB history: 2 carries, 1 fumble lost, 1 concussion, and a knee injury. Lets hope he can shake that off. Nice helmet-to-helmet cheap shot when Ced was already down. That's the kind of aggressiveness it takes to win the SB. I hope we learned that, as we certainly experienced it.

As an old time Bear fan and a U.M. grad I don't think much of anything that has to do with the gator. We had the same experience with Brock Berlin, Grossman's back up, who transfered to Miami when he couldn't beat out Grossman for the starting job. He came in with an undefeated prep record in La. and a couple of years training under Spurrier. After sitting out a year and learning the Canes offense he gave us two years of promise and not much else.
The Bears need to find a young Q.B. who will be able to deliver when the opportunity comes again

Yeah Bears!!!
We got to the Super Bowl.
Lots of money was made and lots of fun was had.
Hats off to all of our Bears.
I wish it hadn't been so cold. I would have gone and welcomed our boys back home.
It was a great season.

Rex Grossman didn't lose that Super Bowl Game the Chicago Bears Defense lost us that Super Bowl Game, the reasons being 1.) our safeties being out of position giving the momentum back to the Colts when we had them on the ropes early on, 2.)allowing 191 rushing yards, making Addai and Rhodes look like All World Pro Bowler's, but we can stop Reggie Bush and Duce 3.) compounded by our defense front line not getting any sacks until the last 9 minutes of the game, also can I ask how much is #93 getting paid on the Bears payroll for lack of production?

The Chicago Bears will be back in the playoff's next year because I believe the front office knows that they are on the verge of the Chicago Bears being a football dynasty this decade, sensible and true Bear fans know this! And where is the countdown to spring training? Bear Down Chicago Bears Fans Great Season Better One Next Year

Don't give up on Rex just yet. The loss was a team effort. Let's see how he develops through next season. Until then, "Rex...you don't have to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders."
Thanks for an awesome season.

Thank you Bears for a wonderful season. All the controversy over Rex is unwarranted, he is young and I can see in a few years he could become an outstanding quarterback. Trade him now to another team and we see another Chicagoan make it good elsewhere and we are still in a training mode.

Thanks, BEAR'S for an unforgettable year! You will always be champions to all of us in Chicago!!

Once again the bears lose a big game they could have won. Outcoached, out toughed, outplayed by a very beatable opponent. All year the players complained about being disrespected, about fans not giving them enough credit. Well, most of what the fans were saying about the team, what the fans saw with their own eyes, turned out to bite the bears in the backsides in the big game.

This is a team with some truly great players and a lot of talent so it is a shame to see them not capitalize on it and win what they could. But it is also a team of churlish individuals who don't appreciate their fans or like hearing any negative comments. Even if what the fans were saying was obvious.

Well, their talent took the team so far, but when it really counted, the bears basically gave the game away. A gift touchdown on a blown coverage, a gift touchdown on the interception to the sub player (that grossman to muhammed combo was sure stellar all season).

And don't leave out the brilliant coaching decision to play a soft defense and turn urlacher back into a safety. Instead of hard tackles with helmets on the ball or opponents helmets (see colts defenders tough spearing tackles) the bears reached out and touched someone and tried to strip the ball. The colts offense, knowing there was no risk of any bear actually hitting them hard, just ran without fear right past the bears playing lovies strip the ball (flag) football.

Not to mention the defensive gameplan which was designed to take away the same thing that the rain and field took from the colts. And of course lovie wasn't sharp enough to adjust during the game, he just did the wrong thing repeatedly and doggedly like in the carolina game. The defensive scheme forced the colts to run the ball and to throw short passes, hey just what a dome team would need to do to win outdoors in a deluge. Really bright there to take away what the weather was taking away too, way to force the colts into playing winning football lovie! Now if you could just get ron turner and rex to play winning offense sometime instead of that demonstration of clumsiness and futility. The Colts defensive players said after the game that their gameplan was to take away the run and make the quarterback beat them. How did they ever think of that? Well, it was good to see rex come through and prove all his family, friends and supporters right the way he did. He really does look taller with the baseball hat on doesn't he?

But of course lovie is happy, his friend tony won, and lovie took another step toward his goal of learning how to coach a winning team in a meaningful game. Of course next year he'll be learning another lesson after he comes up short again.

The Mcaskies are probably still thrilled with winning the Halas trophy, I doubt anyone dared to tell them the Lombardi is actually the bigger prize. Angelo and lovie will get their contracts and big pay raises, after all they're 15 and 4 and rex is their quarterback. And according to them, the Bears emperor really does have clothes, really, how else could they have been champions of the nfc north? Go bears, enjoy your offseason, maybe by the mini camps you'll have convinced yourself again how great you are. As a Bears fan, i'm still waiting to see it. Oh yeah, congratulations on the season.

Grossman was part of the equation but sheer dominance in the trenches is what killed the Bears!!! The so called under-sized Colts MANHANDLED the Bears in the trenches both on offense and defense. Colts played unquestionably smash mouth football! Isn't that what the Bears are supposed to do??? I understand why Manning received the MVP but if I were giving it out I would look at Mr. Saturday and that offensive line! We will see what next year has to offer...still not decided on Grossman but I am leaning towards the bus!!!

It was a lot of fun watching the BEARS this season. You can say what you want about the Super Bowl, etc, but I am old enough to cherish a season like this one! There is real talent on this team to have more good years soon, so I'm psyched.

GO BEARS! THANKS FOR A GREAT FOOTBALL SEASON!! YOU HAVE NOTHING TO BE ASHAMED OF.

Yep, congrats on a great season and on making it to the superbowl. Twern't much of a game, but you can't win em all, and the bears are 1 and 1 in super bowls now, so that's not so bad. Maybe somebody will think of doing a comparison between the two superbowl teams, you know, like the 85 bears won and the 06 bears, they lost.

Or, the 85 bears dominated and the 06 bears, they tripped and fell. I heard some comparing the quarterbacks, said rex was actually a better quarterback than Mcmahon. And no, the one saying this wasn't one of the grossman clan or their PR posse callers and emailers, it was a real sportswriter, maybe he'd been in the sippin liquor. Well, I saw Mcmahon give up his body for a first down or a score and i saw rex waddle around like a duck in the rain. See, say you did have web toes, then rex's problem in the super bowl might just be that the water wasn't deep enough for him to really maneuver in. Maybe, you just can't expect him to perform at a high level on dry land, specially in a big game on a worldwide stage with a billion or so people watching him. Gosh the ball was slick too, i don't know how he did it, whatever it was that he was trying to do, that is.

Well, theres always next year, decade, quarter century, etc., i'm sure the bears wont make any of the same mistakes they made this year over again next year, they'll never win anything that way.

I'm A Colts fan....with many Bears fans in my area , after these past 2 weeks of listening to Bears fans talking trash "The Colts are gonna get their a**es kicked" The Colts suck" "The Bears are gonna run the ball down the Colts throats" etc , etc , etc.....I've bit my lip.....told them "That's why they play the game"......Do you think they will say anything now?And also reading Mark Brown's article in the times "It'll be a shame to beat cute, little Indy"....Hey Mark.....Now you have another reason to visit Indy......to see the Lombardi trophy!!!! I do like the Bears and the fans who display class, but to the ones who don't , I won't feel sorry when I finally have my say!!

Rex Grossman did not give this one away by himself. You have to really understand football and team sports to realize that. Every starter on the bears made mistakes. They also made some good plays too, but just not enough of them. The coaching staff made some blunders also. From top to bottum they got wooped. No matter what anyone wants to believe, Rex will be better next year and the team will be better next year. We are all hurting so we say hurtful things that aren't true sometimes because we want others to hurt with us. The real truth of the matter is that we got SECOND place. Thirty teams finished behind us. Yes we wanted first place, but we got second. That's not great, but that's really not that bad. I wish I could reverse time and have them play the way that I know they can, But we all know I can't. I don't see any reason why we won't be there again next year. Isn't that what we tell our kids, "keep trying." Do we believe it or are we just saying it. I believe it. Go BEARS! Lets go son, don't give up!

The disappointment was so unbearable (no pun intended) I've had to wait a few days to even begin to digest it. I can only imagine what it must feel like for the players and coaches.
I know it's not much condolence to have worked so hard and fall short of the Ultimate Goal, but you continually gave Bears Fans something to root for all season long.
The comeback against Arizona, Hester's record setting returns, Gould's Field Goal in OT to advance to the Championship, and the George Halas Trophy is back home where it belongs.
True Bears Fans are proud of You!!!
Thanks for the fantastic season.

John F -

I read your last post. Please understand that no one - especially Rex Grossman - owes you any explanation. The Bears, in fact, won two championships with him at quarterback; that's how they got to the Superbowl.

You DO NOT have to wait another four or ten years for Rex to figure out a thing. You don't have to wait at all. Don't watch. Watch the team's that are winning.

As for good losers being losers, that might be technically true, but at least they played the game.

It was a great winning season, Bears. Thank you.

To the Chicago Bear Family

I just would like to take a little time out of my day to let you know just how I feel about the 2006-2007 football season.

I was very disappointed when the season came to an end last year. The Carolina Panthers was not the better team yet they went on for a chance to represent the NFC in the Superbowl. I remember thinking at the end of that game that next year is going to be a special year for the Chicago Bears. When that thought crossed my mine I had no idea what damage you were going to cause in the national football league, or how much excitement you were going to give not only the city of Chicago , but Bear fans all over.

The city of Chicago loves effort, and every game that you played effort was present. This city was rejuvenated by your play. In years past our season was over after the forth or fifth game and all we had from their on was a pride season. This is a football town and when the bears are doing good the entire city is doing good. I know you realize what effect that you have on this city. Every Monday was a newspaper sellout Monday. Every Monday was a water cooler conversation Monday. Every Monday was a low crime Monday. I could go on and on about the positive things that your play did for this city. This city loves it’s Bears.

The Superbowl! My, I can’t begin to tell you about how I felt when the clock finally ticked off to “0:00”. That was the most gut wrenching feeling that I had in a long time. It was like someone had pulled my heart out. Let me explain something about my love for the Bears. When you are playing nothing comes before that game. It might sound extreme, but I feel that if I can work 40+ hours a week I should be able to spend three hours on Sunday enjoying something that I am truly fond of. Whether you win or lose I am there with you no matter what.

Once the game was over I had the empty feeling. I felt as though you had let me down. I watched the footage after the game. The interviews with various players, and how the media to the end were constantly reminding all of you that you had just lost the most important game of your lives, and I stopped feeling let down and started getting angry. I got my newspaper Monday morning (Sun-Times), and right their on the cover was the heart and soul of this team that had just given every thing that he had with his head down as if he was ashamed. That tore at my heart. I felt so unworthy of being a fan of this team. All that you have (The team) given us this year to not take your feelings into consideration after such a devastating lost is very selfish. For that I apologize. B.U, and the rest of you players you have no reason to hang your head. You are the true champions in this town. Not those of us who sit in front of the television and talk about how bad of a play that was, or what we would do if we were in your shoes. No you are the real champions of this city.

I closing I would like to say that this city is use to saying “wait until next year”. Well next year won’t get here soon enough. I saw a lot of positive things out of this team. You have showed that when everyone counts you out that is when you come up and snatch their hearts out. You showed us they can never think you are out of any game, because when they do you will have them ranting and raving at the press conference. Wait until next year, the league just don’t realize that next year started February 4, 2007. When the wrong team stood at that podium and accepted the “Lombardi” trophy the rest of the league was put on notice. That notice is “ The monsters of the midway has a bone to pick with you”. So Champions of Chicago don’t ever let them see you with your head down again, because that is the wrong posture for men as proud as you. Let them see the whites of your eyes because the next time they see them they will show the true warrior that lives within. My team has no shame so don’t ever feel it, because I will never feel as though you let me down again. Thank you for such a joyous season. Thank you for the pride I felt all season long to say I was a Bear fan. Most of all thank you for never giving up! I love my champions! Have a great summer.

Kendall A Barnett

No#1 Bears Fan.

Congrat's on a wonderful season!

This city is ridiculous. How many messages do I have to read that say we didn't deserve to be there? Yet we were. Rex Grossman is terrible, why haven't I read anything about Chris Harris? or Daniel Manning? How did Wayne get so open? Why haven't I read anything about our lack of tackling? How many times do I have to watch a running back go straight up the middle for 10 yards and a FIRST down? I believe the defense had chances to stop the Colts, however, they didn't. Was that Rex's fault? Maybe if Rex had more time on the field with the offense, we could have run more? how many times was Manning pressured? How many sacks? I thought defense was suppose to be our strength? 450 yards of pure weakness..

The Bears loss can't be put solely on one player, I was embarassed to watch a pathetic team effort. I hope the defense has a nice offseason reflecting on the lack of effort after the first quarter. I believe if I have read correctly, the offense went almost an hour without being on the field...

Yes, I look forward to next year. I look forward to better preparation by the coaches and players. Our window is open and the time is now. Let the players battle it out in training camp. Jones vs Benson, Grossman vs. the world, Anderson vs. Brown, maybe even Urlacher needs to be pressured? Why not...it isn't like he stopped the run...

Let's quit pointing at Rex and point at the team for playing flat after the first series. Let's ask Turner how he is going to improve the offense, let's wait to see if we have to get another Defensive Coordinator, Good luck Rivera, but if you leave so long...maybe the next coach can motivate his players to play every game and call them out when they don't.

Can't we enjoy the season we had, yes we got to the Super Bowl, and yes I was the person at the party swearing at the screen, however, this wasn't the Bears to win, they aren't going to be handed the Championship, they have to earn it...and besides Hester's return, and one Jones run, and a bullet of a throw from Grossman, what else did they do?

Nice to see the lil fellar has so many supporters to write and cheer him up. Didn't know his family was that big, but guess they have a lot of friends and people to write in and do pr for their lil fellar. Too bad they aren't more compassionate people, seems kind of cruel to me to keep puttin the lil fellar in situations where he just humiliates himself, was very painful to watch.

To play like that in front of the whole world, wouldn't think people who cared about him would want to put him through that kind of pressure and humiliation. Course people in chicago and on his team gave him the benefit of the doubt all year and were willing to give him a chance, but that has to end sometime, can't keep throwing buckets in the well without any rope on them.

Once lovie and jerry get their contracts and don't have to worry about gettin fired for wasting a draft pick and 4 seasons on rex, they'll bench him faster than you'll believe. Or maybe rex and his pr machine will develop some mysterious career ending injury so he can fade away without any more embarassment to himself, the team and the city.

Too bad all high school and college sports stars can't make it in the pros, even when their parents and friends really, really want them to succeed. Maybe rex can go back to indiana and run for political office, he's a good talker and thinks a lot of himself so he probably could do well in a state that elected dan quayle.

I just want the bears to move on and get a real quarterback so they can win something before, briggs is gone, rivera is gone, urlacher is gone, the o line is gone, thomas jones is gone, cedric benson does a ricky, etc. Maybe the bears have one more year window to win, maybe 2. They can't waste that chance on sticking with someone who just can't play at nfl level. Of course, this is chicago so maybe they'd rather waste the opportunity to win, than admit they were wrong, and correct the problem.

Roman responds: Gotta tell you, everytime I read you calling him the "lil fellar" I start laughing.

That's what I'm talking about. Why would Couch write an article like the one in the paper today? Answer me one thing; If the Bears get rid of Grossman, who will be their QB? Brian Griese? Gee, um, I would love to see Brian Greise dink and dunk the Bears to a 9-7 season! If Brian is the answer he would not have been playing for the Bears. He would still be in Denver, or Tampa bay, or Miami. There is a reason the Bears have put up better passing statistics than they have since 1995. Sometimes I have to wonder about people's thinking in this town. Yes, the kid did have some bad games (including the SB), but he at least help make the passing game somewhat respectable. At least he showed that if he's givin time he can totally light things up. You know what? Lets say the Bears cut their losses with him and he goes to another team with a better offensive line, and a more imaginative ofensive coordinator. That desision would haunt the Bears for years. Lovie Smith knows what he's doing with Rex. At least he understand that he has a talented Kid that needs time. The Bears are in great shape and will be for years to come. One thing Couch is right about is the Bears ARE a team built to win the Superbowl. But not this year. They would've played better in the Superbowl if that was the case. Rex played bad, the offensive line played bad (Roberto Garza was whiffing blocks the whole game), the offensive gameplan was bad (what happened to screen passes, or a reverse?), the defense couln't tackle or cover. I mean this loss was a team effort from top to bottom. Getting rid of Grossman will only puts the team a negative situation if you ask me. Can we please try to support the players we have?

Good season there bears, can't win them all.

After reading their posts and getting an idea of how charming and gracious these southernors really are, really hard to imagine a bears fans not being thrilled to listen to them at a game in chicago. I'm sure as polite visitors they would never say anything at a game or on a message board to incite a bears fan to say something stupid in reply.

Roman responds: I cut a lot out of this post and would just like to say if anybody else is thinking of making light out of what happened to New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, go to some other blog. I've lived my entire life in this area, and I'm embarrassed by the jokes and other crap about Katrina victims. Over 1,300 people died, and some idiots are going to joke about that for a stupid football game. The person who wrote "Bears finishing what Katrina started" and hung it at Soldier Field for the NFC title game should have been hanged next to the sign.

J Powers:

While I respect your opinion, I do think I have a right to some answers as to why, when a championship level defense and special teams has been assembled, the Bears coaching staff played a quarterback that is so mistake prone that he wastes the season-long efforts of the other 52 players on the squad.

There is only one championship, the NFL Championship. None of us here should accept anything less than that from the Bears, otherwise, why are they playing, and why are we rooting for them? Players, coaches and management that accept being second best get what they deserve.

Should we as fans wait for Grossman to "figure it out" after all of the defensive and special teams talent has retired or gone elsewhere because they don't want to wait either? The days of waiting for certain players to develop are long gone, teams don't stay together in this era of free agency.

All the pieces were in place to win a championship this year except for one.

First Good Rex, then Bad Rex, now TRAIN REX!

You can blame your Sun-Times and Tribune for any mockery you're receiving now. I read "second class city" a dozen times in those papers last week about Indy. We kept our mouth shut and just waited to decide it on the field. It must suck to have less than even a second class football team, eh?

Just like the AFC was the NFC's whipping boy in the 90's, the opposite is true now. And unfortunately for you, any of the 6 AFC playoff teams will beat whoever the NFC makes the designated pinata for the indefinite future. Thanks for making the AFC Championship Game the World Title every year!

Roman responds: Just make sure you don't meet any of your Pacers at a bar when they're in a bad mood.

You're absolutely right believer. An analytical Bears fan looks at that game and realizes the defense was in trouble from the middle of the first quarter to the end of the fourth, they just couldn't get off the field. I guess we now know why the Chiefs, Ravens, and the Patriots abandoned the run(because the Colts dominated t.o.p.). An analytical Bear fan will also realize that we haven't had a quarterback put up the numbers Grossman did this season IN OVER A DECADE and was the first quarterback to help his team get to the dance in 21 years.

I hate to say it but most of you out there that do nothing but trash this kid are nothing more than mouth breathing dolts that form their opinions based on the thoughts of Greg Couch or Jay Mariotti or any other desk jockey/armchair quarterback. Use your eyes and your partially developed brains and you will see that once things slow down a little for this kid, he's going to be really good.

After some reflection I have come to the conclusion that Grossman is a pretty good quarterback. He got us to the Superbowl, not Orton and not Griece. Of course, we'll all be clamoring for him to leave next season, and Lovie will calmly suggest that we to take a long walk off of a short pier. Grossman should stay. These people, however should be cut:

Tank Johnson
This guy is a no-brainer(literally). He got us to the big game, but now he's little more than a liability. After breaking the law yet again and suffering terrible tragedy, he was given yet another chance, and he blew it. He could have spent his time in Miami interviewing attorneys by phone, but no. He had to go to the club.
Any of the statements he made on media day could easily be used to secure his conviction for violation of probation. In the words of fictional character Forest Gump, "Stupid is as stupid does." I don't blame him for the death of his friend, but leaving loaded guns around kids is unforgivable.

Ricky Manning Junior
This guy is becoming a liability as well (see Tank Johnson). I think he got burned for a touchdown in the colts game too.

Brian Urlacher
Crutch!

Why hate on Rex??? Does he owe you money???

He plays football for a living, and getting well paid for it. He was brought in here to win(same as coach Smith), and they made it to the last game of the season. So obviviously they won some games. Did I like the end? No!! But I liked the journey, and the journey to play for the Super Bowl trophy is deciced by only two teams each year. In 85' after Buddy Ryan left, the team looked different, they played a different defensive scheme, and their victory on opening night against the Giants was a mirage.

Now in 2007, Coach Smith will still be here with his ball-hawking style, and we have a chance to win some games next year(remember, San Diego was favored to win the SB XLI...oh well media types). As I said before Rex is young, our core is young(and veteran). We will not have our team dismantled emotionally in the offseason like 1985. We will be getting Mike Brown and Tommie Harris back next year. I will not predict anything(I am not God), but I will say we can compete for a SB victory as long as we keep our young core together, and that is all I ask for.

I know about 15 other NFC teams wish they had the chance to play last Sunday. To the real fan-atics------GO BEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!! To the fair weather fans, just watch the game, and try not to hurt yourself thinking too hard. And most important, don't listen to talk radio and voice their opinion as your own, be a man(or woman), and come up with your own ideas.

REX IS ARE QUATERBACK,REX IS ARE QUATERBACK,REX IS ARE QUATERBACK,
REX IS ARE QUATERBACK,REX IS ARE QUATERBACK,REX IS ARE QUATERBACK,
I CAN'T TAKE ANYMORE!PLEASE LOVIE WAKE UP!

All of you saying Griese should be given a shot...did you see him play against the Packers on new years eve...5 for 15 two picks and a TD...REALLY!!!!!! It makes no sense.

Well even though this was Rex Grossman's fourth season, this was really his first full season playing at QB uninjured. Just think in his full season at QB he was able to take the Bears to the title game, why can't he do it again? I think he will learn from his mistakes and getter better and of course if the defense and special teams are still intact. Didn't many people say that when Rex returns from being injured he was going to be the man? Well he did take the Bears to the Super Bowl. And it wouldn't hurt the Bears if they looked at other QB's in the market, like I don't know Jeff Garcia?

I forgot to mention(whine/rant) about key plays in the game, which were? We got the call of no catch, which was in our favor, but when the play was reviewed, our opponent`s foot clearly kicked up some "white" from the sideline, which should have been cause for the play to stand, but it was overturned, allowing the Colts to get the ball. That was bogus! Just touching the sideline "IS" out of bounds. That was a bs call! So was the one where the Colt receiver didn`t have firm possesion of the ball when his toe came up, and didn`t touch down again, before he went out of bounds. The only reason he looked to have any posession at all, was because of slow motion. At real speed, he had no posession at all, his toe was up, and "HE WAS" out of bounds. Those two calls were wrong, went against us, and were deciding factors in our loss of the game. The Colts victory is definitely tainted! They "DID NOT" earn it!

I truly do hope the Bears keep GROSSMAN as the starting QB,Because I want to see all the same people defending him next season. I can already hear the EXCUSES. 1. Lance Briggs is gone. 2. We have too many injuries. 3. Rex is suffering from the Sophmore jinx. 4. the play calling sucks. I also like the way people said how Trent Dilfer won a SB and he was nowhere as good as REX. Well he did'nt throw 2 picks, fumble and run like a scared child. Face it, Rex will never handle the pressure next season. Oh and #5- Our schedule was too tough. It's sad to see such a talented team not win when they should. The window will not be open forever. TRUE fans know this and realize Winning is'nt everything it is the ONLY THING"

Where are you from, Callahan, Detroit? I'll give you 22 reasons why Chicago plays in next year's Superbowl. These "excuses" you refer to are just your own internal thoughts revealing that you have a loser's mentality. Winning is the only thing. That's why winners adapt, learn, and overcome mistakes. Losers project their thoughts of failure on others, and call them "excuses."

P.S. William Callahan, don't characterize a city by the signs of a few drunken fans..I lived in Bay Saint Louis, MS until August 29th..now I'm in Hattiesburg...but I was born and raised in Illinios and I know the heart and soul of a true Bears fan. I did have to rely on FEMA, but like a true midwesterner, I relied more heavily on myself. No Bears fan ever wore a paper-bag over his head when the Bears were losing. I saw, in person, the desire of the New Orleans fans to encourage and hope for continued failure as they disrespected Mike Ditka during his tenure in New Orleans. And I saw Reggie Bush finger-point Urlacher before the 23 unanswered points in Chicago. As a Saint's fan, Callahan, I would worry more about Reggie Bush destroying his alma-mater after acceptiing a couple hundred thousand dollars for rent, or calling a high-school recruit to ensure him to join a team that will beat the recruiting violation rap. I wish the Saints all the best, but just remember that Tank Johnson's problems are no-less than that of Reggie Bush's generational ego-problem that makes him no different than Terrel Owens. Excuses for the Bears? Please. We've won championships. What do you have? Jack Dempsey?

I am sick of hearin' all the frickin whining aboout the mis-treatment of New Orleanians. And guess what, "I'm is one".

Yes, some Bears fans treated us like crap, and some acted absolutely like fools, but please stop all of the frickin whining!!!!

The Bears kicked our butts -but good!! Yes, some fans acted like complete idiots but GET OVER IT! Many Saints fans were pretty frickin obnoxious as well. Newsflash-it's just a game dammit!

Saints fans should have been rooting for the NFC (our conference), rather than the "nanny" boy whose Mississippi "paw" has nothing but disregard for New Orleans. (Funny that Payton was a Vol, rather than an LSU tiger) Some homeboy, eh?

Congratulations Bears and please remember that when we play y'all next year, we are not all a bunch of frickin cry-babies.

Bear down Chicago, you are really a beautiful frickin city! See ya' at Ditka's.

Da Bears, da Bulls, da Cubs...
Ditka

Love,
JV

A great season that was largely overlooked by the nation. Why Lovie didn't at least give Griese a chance is beyond me. It was the Super Bowl, after all. If Rex's confindence is hurt by it, maybe it would have motivated him for next year. Just senseless to keep him in so long without giving our offense a chance.

Congratulations to the Bears for making it to the Superbowl!!!!!!!!
Most people didn't pick them to even get past the first round of the playoffs.
Congrats to Indy and their fans for winning the Superbowl!
The Colts deserved to win the way they played throughout the playoffs. Hopefully, next year will be the Bears year to win it all. They have kept improving under Lovie the last 3 years, so if they continue to do so, the next step is a Superbowl win. History has not been kind to SuperBowl runner-ups, so it will be difficult. Thanks also to Jerry Angelo. He drafted some key players and made some good free agent signings to build this team. Hester was his diamond in the rough. Most of the players will be back next season. They need to make sure Briggs doesn't sign with another team. They can improve through the draft and signings for next season. Grossman is the wildcard. He could make or break us. Who knows what will happen next season, they could win it all or they could suck. Either way, I will be rooting for them. GO BEARS!!!!

Hey Haberman. What are those 22 reasons? Have you seen their opponents next yaer? The Chargers, Broncos, Chiefs, Cowboys, Redskins,Eagles and Giants to name some. Thay should have won this year. When is the last time an NFC team went to back to back SB's?Get your EXCUSES ready. People like you will always place blame where it does'nt belong and yor're the type who ran out and bought tons of Bears stuff because you are a fan when they are winning.

hello chicago bears fans, well we lost the superbowl......not a good feeling, feeling down like your heart was taken out while you watched the game?same hear.if is how we feel imagine how the players feel they worked out all last off season (after losing to carolina)then in camp all the hard work and sweat and injuries they ALL played with during the season and then make the playoffs with the best record in the NFC and then win the NFC crown and goto the superbowl have the best opening 10 minutes of the game and then all go downhill and lose the biggest game of there careers. This is the game that all football player look forward to playing and to have your heart and hard work ripped out doesnt feel good but it will make you stronger for next year and the future when we will win the superbowl and were the Favorite the whole season long.........GO BEARS and thank you for a great season and remember the fans do appreciate all the hard work you put in for us to enjoy...dedication like yours is what makes football such a great sport ......
