NEED YOUR HELP!!! BEARS FANS!OKAY GUYS, MY FRIEND MORFORD AND I(HE'S IN ILLINOIS AND THATS HIS LAST NAME) WE AGREE IT IS IMPORTANT AS BEARS FANS TO COME TOGETHER! GROWING UP IN THE MIDWEST, WE LOVE THE BEARS AND THE CUBS-THAT IS JUST THE WAY IT IS-I CURRENTLY LIVE IN TENNESSEE, AND I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN PROUD TO BE FROM THE MIDWEST, LIKE THE CUBS AND ILLINI. MORFORD AND I ASK, PLEASE LET US COME TOGETHER AT SOLDIER FIELD TO WATCH THE BEARS PLAY MIAMI-PLEASE!!
Let me first apologize on behalf of Bears fans to the vicitimized Saints fans. I was born in Chicago and have been a Bears fan for 39 years. I married a girl from Metairie LA fifteen years ago, and just like a die hard Cub Fan, she shared with me the story of the Saints... I thought of the Saints as the Cubs of the NFL - even though there are other teams with longer LOSING records the Saints and the Cubs have a lot in common. I've been to the one and only Saints playoff victory game against the St. Louis Rams, before their recent victory against the Eagles. I'm extremely disappointed at a few Bears fans treatment of Saints fans, especially when it comes to spitting, harrasment, beer spilling and signs or slurs re: Hurricane Katrina. Many Chicago fans on these posts are extremely defensive stating that situation is only from a few fans, and not the majority, and/or what did the Saints fans do to warrant such an attack? But no one has taken any ownership, or apologized on behalf of such poor treatment? When I was a kid, I went to see Walter Payton play, and back then, I couldn't imagine any fan pulling a stunt like that... Almost seems Un-American? Is Chicago saying they can't be a host to ANY fans from out of town? Don't give me that garbage about how the Saints fans would've treated Bears fans the same way if they went to New Orleans, because I've been to N.O. games where Patriot fans and out of towners ruled the roost... Maybe the Saints are used to losing and hosting other teams but they don't pull "low blows" like some lowly fan did. And many of you other Chicago fans say, "hey, that is the minority, or What do you expect?" I expect you as an American NOT TO TOLERATE SUCH BEHAVIOR! FURTHERMORE, I EXPECT THE SECURITY OF SOLDIER FIELD TO NOT TOLERATE SUCH BEHAVIOR? Where have we fallen as a society where such behavior is brushed off as: "well what did you expect?" It's sad that we live in the most advanced country on the planet, but at times we don't act like it. So on behalf of the Bears fans, I apologize (since no one else has) to the Saints fans that were mistreated. I'm glad my Mother who is from Chicago, moved to New Orleans and was displaced from the hurricane, didn't go to the game, and potentially fell under the scrutiny of someone who though it was reasonable to spit on her, or spill a beer on her. And for those that feel this treatment is adequate, God help you... You have issues. In the meantime, I'm thinking of turning my back on the Bears, not because of the players, but because of the fans. And don't give me that "real fan" garbage, because I've heard that my whole life. For those of you who are true AMERICANS, don't let some other fan SPEW garbage like the fan that had the "Bears will finish what Katrina started" crap... Don't allow them to post that sign... Call Security, or confront them directly.... The Chicago people are strong enough and are loyal enough to our country enough to at least do that...
I'd like to thank Virginia McCaskey for having the strength to demote her own son and take steps to make the Bears great again. It had to be hard for her to do and I thought it would never happen.Enjoy Miami Virginia you deserve it.
Did anyone read the caption of this blog? Tell us about what it was like to go to the Superbowl. If you didn't go please skip this blog. I would really like to know about someone's experience with the Superbowl seeing that I've never gone.
Roman responds: Thank you.
5 of us went to New Orleans in 1986. Of course we drank in every bar on Bourbon St. We ran into (a well-known politician) formerly head of Ways&Means Committee. We asked him who he was with and he said "My wife's (blank) friends,I'd rather drink with you guys". So we proceeded dto have several Martinis with him.

Bear Down!
Years ago I knew a guy who worked as a laborer for the Chicago Park Dist. at Soldier Field.
During the eight years I knew him, he went to every Super Bowl. Here's how he did it:
A few days before the game, he'd get in his car, and drive to a city that was at least 100 miles from the site of the game. He'd get a fairly cheap motel room because he was far enough away from the host city that the inflated room prices weren't a factor.
On the day of the game, he'd get in his car and drive to the stadium. He'd hang around until after the kickoff, and then begin his search for a ticket. After the game has already started, those $1,000 tikets become relatively worthless, and the fire sale begins in ernest. Often he was able to score a ticket at face value or less from a scalper trying to avoid a big loss. Sometimes he'd miss the entire first quarter, but he still got to see plenty of football for his money.
Dominick's efforts paid off in 7 out of the 8 years he went to the games, and the one year he didn't get in, he enjoyed watching it at a local bar in New Orleans.
Roman responds: Great story. Big gamble, though. And I just heard from a friend who bought two at face that they were $600 each. I'm sure they're pretty good seats, but still. With all of the TV timeouts and endless halftime, I'm not sure it's worth it.
I live in Orlando now, from Chicago. I will drive down to Miami next week and hang out with the Score guys and maybe run into some people I might know.
If I can get a ticket great, if not thats ok.
By the way, the Dolphins stadium is about 20 miles from South Beach. In fact South Beach is not in Miami. Its Miami Beach, actually its own city.
I hate it when the sports guys say, the Bears are going to play the Colts in South Beach. How stupid, like they just learned a new word. Thats like saying the Saints are coming to Rush Street to play the Bears.
Bears 31, Colts 19.
GO BEARSSS!
I am still trying to get to the game. But living in the Netherlands makes it difficult to get them. I know Ebay has a lot of tickets on sale, but who can you trust? This is maybe a once in a lifetime opportunity to be at the SB with DA BEARS playing for the title.
I still have a couple of days left in my search.
