Super Bowl prediction time
You know the routine. Score, MVP and a line or two about how the game will unfold. Again, a bunch will get in the paper, but if you don't have all three elements - SCORE, MVP, SENTENCE - it's not getting in. Thanks.
I'll start with mine:
Bears 31
Colts 27
MVP: Bears special teams
Adrian Peterson forces a fumble and recovers it. Brad Maynard and Devin Hester dominate field position.

Comments
Bears 27
Colts 17
MVP Devin Hester
Hester keeps the Bears playing on a short field all day and returns one for a TD

Bears 27
Colts 24
MVP: Cedric Benson
Benson gets most of the early carries, scoring 2 TDs. Bears control clock, and keep Manning on the sideline.

MVP Mark Anderson
Mark Anderson disrupts Peyton Manning and the Bears power O dominates the game

Colts 41
Bears 22
(Halftime Bears 14 Colts 13)
No Huddle wears out Bears D by mid-third quarter. Better-conditioned (smaller) Colts D begins to get thru once-closed gaps in Bears Offense and wreaks havoc. Note our rushing D stats from one half to the next (dramatic difference). This has been the Colts modus operandi all year long when focused - see Ravens, Chiefs, Patriots x2, Eagles, Giants , Bengals games.
Bears are a good team that simply has not been exposed to the efficiency, patience and execution of an offense like the Colts. Saints do not count - they were a 10-6 team in the NFC playing in miserable weather on the road with an offense with talent but too much youth (Cinderella story, nothing more).
The ONLY chance for Bears upset -
+3 turnover margin
2 returns for TDs from spec teams/def. (one pick-six will not be enough)

Colts 41
Bears 22
MVP: Dwight Freeney
Colts blow up close game at halftime - No-huddle wears out Bears D by mid-third quarter. Colts D (better conditioned, faster, smaller) shoot through once-closed gaps in Bears Offense and wreak havok. This is Colts modus operandi - see Ravens, Patriots x2, Chiefs, Bengals, Giants, Eagles, et al. Look at Colts D stats first vs. second half (dramatic difference). Bears only shot is +3 turnover margin and 2 or more special team/def. return TDs.

BEARS 34
Colts 30
MVP Benson
It will be a game in which BEARS lead the whole game.
Pounding Benson inside the first half, and Benson breaking one in the second half. BEARS "D" will do enough to secure the win early in 4th quarter.

Bears 34 Indy 17 i just love the way the bears are playing on both sides of the ball. i think they will be able to run the ball aginst the colts. with the way thier offensive line is playing i think the running will have no problems . thier offensive line and backs are very talented. i dont think indy has a answer for deep threat no. 80. ask any nfl coach and heal tell you speed kills. if hes even with a defensive back hes leaving. the . the biggest problem for indy may be once they get the ball to thier backs or receivers is them hanging onto it as the bears have the best record in the nfl for takeaways. hester is the best in the buisness for punt returns for the bears. mvp no. 20 GO BEARS

Bears 27
Colts 24
MVP - Peyton Manning 34-50 375yds 3td 2int
Peyton has a big day but in the end the total team effort of the Bears prevails. No one part (offense, defense, special teams) stands out, they all play well enough to win.
Roman responds: No way a player from the losing team wins MVP.
Posted by: JohnF | January 31, 2007 02:08 PM
Bears 48
Colts 0
MVP - Rex Grossman 18/29, 294 yds, 2 TD, 1 INT
This will be the first shut out of the Colts since 2002. The Bears dominate both lines. The defense doesn't get tired because they alternate packages and make changes when the Colts due. Lots of 3 and outs for the Colts. Bears defense plays the game of their lives (until this point, next year they will have similar showings).

Get the STUPID game of FREAKS called "football" over with! Let's get on to America's FAVORITE pastime.....BASEBALLL!!!
Roman responds:I find it interesting that a baseball fan would call athletes in any other sport "FREAKS.'' Look at your own sport, my friend. According to those in the know, there are plenty of steroid "freaks'" still in baseball.

Jones breaks postseason records with another two touchdowns as da bears roll to sssswwwweeeeet victory!

Bears 32, Colts 24
MVP: Desmond Clark
The key to the Bears offense outside of the running game has been Clark, and it will be once again on this day when we crown the Colts.

Bears 30
Colts 28
MVP: Rex Grossman
Grossman wins the MVP with stellar passing (21/35, 241 yds, 2 TDs, 0 INTs). Robbie Gould will hit 3 FGs (1 30-yarder and 2 40-yarders) and 2 XPs. Devin Hester runs back a punt for a TD with around 3 minutes left in the game that will send Bears fans in ecstasy.
Unfortunately, the Hester TD allows Peyton Manning and the Colts plenty of time to make a comeback. However, Robbie Gould and the Bears special teams keep Colts KR Terrance Wilkins to within the 20 after the kickoff. Peyton Manning will try to lead the Colts to great field position, but he comes up well short. The Bears defense bends but does not break. The Colts will be without timeouts and have the ball somwhere between the Bears' 35 and 40 yard line. The Colts will send out Adam Vinatieri to attempt a GW FG with less than 10 seconds to go. Vinatieri will MISS the field goal wide right, and DA BEARS will have their a**es crowned as Super Bowl Champs.

26-10 Bears. Urlacher MVP.Just for the mere fact that he is the anti-Manning. I think our D will have a monster game. The BEARS are a team that is easily motivated. Everyone picked the opposition to win against the BEARS again. I think that Benson/Jones will finish what they started against the Saints.(230 yards between them) We have happy campers who want to prove that it's us against the world. I think that Manning will have a very ordinary game by S.B. standards. Whoever said that our D would break down after the half doesn't know about our defensive rotation. The Colts will wilt against our line who wants to pound the ball on their undersized D line who are nothing compared to even a T.Harris-less line that we have. It's finally good to see so many positive BEAR-Backers.It's going to be a great game, regardless of the outcome, just because not too many people picked us to get here. That Said,GO BEARS!!!

The last blog there was a statement by a Ben Brown, I wish I could watch the game with him just for taunting rights. He shall live a lyric, "when they wring their hands and groan, the dogs of doom will howl and moan." BEARS freak everyone out 34-30.

Colts 23-20.
Bears will be close but Colts have advantages of: 1) played a much tougher schedule, 2) have solid advantage in key offensive stats, 3) coaching experience in playoffs, 4) better offense in red zone, 5) run defense in playoffs is superb, 6) Manning is 9-1 vs NFC in "games that mattered", 7) more overall team experience in playoffs, 7) Colts 6-0 vs common opponents, 8) if 2-week layoff before game, favorites are 11-0 straight-up, 9) since 1976, favorites of 7 points are 7-0 straight-up, 10) Manning vs Grossman.

I think its going to be a close game I think its going to be colts 25 bears 35, there are two good teams this year for the super bowl. Yes I'm cheering for my bears, but everyone has to be realistic, its going to be a wonderful and scarey time during the game,I think were going to win durning over time.

Thriller!! Bears score with 65 seconds left to take the lead and Peyton tries to answer, but is sent home by the Bears "D" due to a midfield turnover.
MVP - Believe it or not!!! Urlacher
Urlacher - 1 sack and 1 interception!!

Bears-30
Colts-21
Rex Grossman is the MVP as the Bears Offense leads the Bears to victory unexpectedly. Everyone has seemed to forgotten that although our offense has been awful at times, they do have powerhouse capabilities at times. The Bears Powerhouse offense will show up this time in the biggest game of their life and leave Chicago happy for at least a year to come.

Dreamcast Prediction (To be read in your best George Wendt 'Super Bears Fan' voice): Id iz da 4th quarter. Time running oud on da clok, Colts up 24-21. Due to a clerical error at da NFL offices, DITKA is still considered an active Bear. Lovie calls ol' 89 back into service. Grossman under pressure, finds Iron Mike in the flat. DITKA annihilates the entire Colts deefenz, even running back to find and annihilate a d-lineman he did not destroy earlier. At da 10 yard line, DITKA's artificial hip catches fire from all the friction of hiz heroic effort. Fuly ablaze, DITKA reaches the endzone. Time expires. Bears win. DITKA lights his DITKA brand cigar off himself and chucks the game ball into Fox announcer Joe Buck.

MVP Thomas Jones
Thomas Jones Continues his post season Tear running for 143 yards on just 20 carries and 2 TDS. Rex passes for 236 yard and 1 TD and 1 int. Peyton Manning Passes for over 300 yards but is sacked 3 times and picked twice by fast bears D.

MVP Jones 100+ and 2 TD
Elephant package dominates(again) on defense, 5 linemen too much for Colts to handle, Score only close because of late Indy TD. Grossman 25-40 295 2 long TDs.

It is soooo funny reading the homer posts that are picking the Bears.
The NFC stinks---AGAIN.
The AFC's #4 seeded team..(NE), was going to be a TD FAV against the # 1 seed, Bears, in the NFC, in this game.
Just like last years 6th seeded AFC team was a TD favorite to beat your #1 NFC seed.
It's all right there in front of your own noses you homers.
AFC vs NFC games this year---40-24...lololol.
The Bears only 2 losses..(forget the GB game), were to the AFC.
In fact---only 1 NFC team had a winning record against the AFC--Dallas.
Is a pathetic conference that will not see the light at the end of the tunnel for ....well...lol...FOREVER, it seems.
Next yr will be the Chargers year...or the Colts defending their championsipm not to mention NE..and then there's whoever is an up and coming team. The NFC has no hope for a SB champ for the next 5 yrs...LOLOL.
Do you know how pathetic your picking the Bears to win is?
You're hanging your hopes on---Special Teams...hahahaha.
Well--I actually agree that is the only way they have ANY chance to win...but....whew....to hang your hat on that hat rack has some mighty thin hooks.

The game will play eerily similar to the Saints game, except the
Bears don't get the safety this time.
MVP - Rex Grossman, sticking it to all the ignorant sportswriters + broadcasters!!

From the ESPN site:
"Sheer force of will! Sheer force of will. It's something that sports analysts and all of you ESPN columnists overlook. We don't look imposing, we don't scare anyone, but our will won't be matched. 'Will' is the greatest intangible in sports; with a strong will you can make anyone do what you want them to do. We have a stronger will than the Colts. Our sheer force of will is the reason the Bears will win. I'll say it one more time, sheer force of will!" -- Malik Yusef, Grammy-winning poet/wordsmith, the "god" of all Chicago MCs (including Kanye, Common and Lupe)
"When it comes down to the Super Bowls, defense is what wins it. An offense can only do so much; when it comes to winning a championship you gotta have defense. And the Bears are the best [of these two teams] at that. Plus, it's our time. I love Peyton, that's my Gatorade buddy, nothing against him. But this is destiny. It's destiny for the Bears to win. I just think it's our time." -- Dwyane Wade, Miami Heat guard, NBA Finals MVP
BEARSE 37 Colts 14 MVP - a certain Rex Grossman

Renwaaarr, keep digging up material to show that the NFC sucks. If you are right then the Colts can't beat the BEARS because they lost to Dallas, who lost to Seattle who lost to the BEARS. Stats don't mean much when it all comes down to it. If it did why show up on Sunday? Why did you guys lose to Dallas? No good answer? Just like I thought,GO BEARS!!!

Bears 24
Indy 10
Folks, there are two indisputable facts that no one has talked about this week. 1) There are three keys to winning a Super Bowl: a) Offensive Line. b) Team Defense. c) Special Teams. Anyone want to give Indy the edge in any of these categories? 2) No home-domed team has ever won a Super Bowl in the history of the sport. I see a lot of predictions that give the Colts 30 points or better. I can't see this team defense giving up more than a dozen in a big game.
Posted by: Michael De Lazzer | February 3, 2007 01:32 AM
RENWAAARR, If you go to any teams site/newspaper the fans of that team are going to root for thier team. It's obvious that your team is not in the superbowl as all you can do is bash other fans' team's. The bears do have a chance and NO fan should be bashed for rooting for thier team. All those stats you mentioned don't mean squat. Just look at the QB'S, Grossman has better stats in the playoffs than manning, does that mean Grossman is the better quarterback ? If you do not like what you read on these blog's stay off !!!!!!!1
